Very disappointed this visit. The gnats were vicious in our section & in the bathroom. There was also one in my drink (see picture below) She didnt even say "sorry about that" though its NOT her fault, but the gesture would have been nice. 20 mins later I got another drink. Our waitress wasn't the most personable. Didn't check on us. 3 of us sent food back bc though the plates were hot, the food was cold, after we waited on it for almost 40 mins. They said there was a larger party (they were apparently there way before us and were still there AFTER we left) It was 8/8:30 and those that ordered the chicken and waffles were told they were short on batter so they would get "half off" which was only $3 off. Our section was COMPLETELY EMPTY! The service was so slow. I used to highly recommend this place but my last few visits to this and the Wexford location have been terrible! read more

Came here for trivia night and dinner. As far as trivia ... you sit in the bar area while and it starts around 6:30 (peak happy hour). The bar can get noisy and they don't have a speaker system so hearing the questions is REALLY heard... but the moderator tries really hard to make sure you know the question - even walking table to table to read it. Recommend a better set up so you can hear or try putting the folks there for trivia in the same area. Now for the food. We got a couple apps and drinks when we got here. The tater tots and boneless wings were really tasty and I loved the blackberry martini ...it was half off martini night so when in Rome ;) We also ordered dinner - the chicken artichoke sandwich ( very tasty) and the mushroom chicken is my normal go to here. This place should be close to 5 Stars. The food is amazing. We ordered to go and everything was yummy, well cooked, and imaginative. The lower reviews are clearly people that are used to someone asking them if they would "like fries with that?" Large portions. When picking up, the restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. Atmosphere - good. The restaurant is bright inside (there is patio seating too), unlike most grill restaurants. There are large, half-circle booths on the left as you enter and table seating further into the restaurant. There is a bar across from the dining area, which was extremely loud. Service - poor. Our server was not attentive. She forgot a drink order and we had to ask for refills on our drinks frequently. Food - very good. The menu is extensive with many options for apps, salads flatbreads, sandwiches and entrees. I had the baked onion soup and parmigiana chicken and gnocchi. Both were very good. Overall - very good. The food is good and prices reasonable (roughly $17 per entree). Over looking the service issue, we enjoyed the experience enough to look forward to returning. read more

Mother's Day Brunch was a bust . There were no plates in line to start and at least 2 chafer dishes were either missing or empty each time in line . The mashed potatoes were like soup, the sliced ham was sitting in boiled water and the prime rib was still mooing(plus how do you advertise a prime rib buffet and not serve Ajou !?) I will say on a positive note that the shrimp cocktail and banana cream pie were the only things that were fresh, appealing and tasty . Spent over $400 for our family and will NEVER return !!!. It has been a long time since I visited a Walnut Grill and this one is relatively close to my home. The place is very clean and a little autumn like festive. They do have a bar area but since I came for lunch I was seated in the main dining room. They have lunch specials where you can "pick a pair" which includes a combine of soup, salad, or half sandwich for $12.99. Breakfast is also served until mid afternoon. Some of their signature items are on the main menu. I had a very nice and attentive waitress. She made sure all my needs were met properly. I saw when you order an entree you only get a choice of one side. That side can be either soup, side salad, potato, or vegetable. I decided to go with the crabcake and the baked sweet potato. I got my food fairly quickly since the place wasn't overly crowded. The portions appeared a bit small for the price I paid but the taste was very good!! I was contemplating a dessert but the baked sweet potato proved to be quite filling. They do honor 10% off your bill with a YELP check in. They will also be open on Thanksgiving with a full buffet. Reservations are a must however for that. Walnut Grill is a chain restaurant with two other locations in Bridgeville and Wexford. This location is part of Settler's Ridge shopping and movie complex. I honestly don't know why I don't come to Walnut Grille more! The Happy Hour rocks plus it's till 7 PM! I feel like some restaurants aren't that late. I ordered a pick and pair deal. It was a soup or salad plus an entree. I ordered the French onion soup and Tuscan artichoke chicken. The soup was delicious and I really enjoyed the chicken! My chicken also came with a side, so naturally I picked the mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had the WG burger which was topped with mushrooms, bacon, Gorgonzola, and sweet chili. He enjoyed it! I stopped in one afternoon for lunch with my girlfriend at the time for a quick bite to eat before heading to the airport to catch a flight. Upon entering I noticed there was probably only 5-10 people total in the whole restaurant and bar area, which should have been a sure sign that this place wasn't the best option in the area but I try and always give the benefit of the doubt. The hostess, bartender and waitstaff in general wasn't that friendly in any manner. Yet, our waitress was nice but just not great at waitressing, at all! The place was near empty and I felt like we waited forever for her to take our order and also to ask if we needed anything else after finally serving us our food. I ordered the harvest bowl and a Corona. The bowl itself was pretty good and the salad my girlfriend ordered looked okay but when I asked her if it was any good she said it was just okay. I've been to a lot of restaurants in this area and this wasn't one of the better ones or a place I'd ever go to again but this is just my opinion and everyone has one. ***TakeOut Review*** This place is almost a stone's throw away so had been eyeing out for a few weeks now to give it a try. This past weekend, lunch was just the occasion to christen the event!! With a little one and unpredictable weather, we couldn't venture for a dine in and settled to do a take out. We ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Really Good Reuben Sandwich, both with a Side of Sweet Potato Fries (A little too thick cut for my taste) The chicken sandwich had the patty almost twice the size of the bun, and no one's complaining there :) Despite doing a takeout, the patty was still crisp, the chicken juicy and quite flavorful, although it could have been a tad spicier seeing that it has "Hot" in its name! The major issue I had here is the complete lack of essential components, like the Horseradish aioli and Nashville Hot sauce. The chef completely forgot to put them on our sandwich so we sadly couldn't truly enjoy the real flavor this sandwich was trying to go over. Sad but not too uncommon in TakeOuts! The Reuben was rather interesting as their version here had the sauerkraut and the dressing completely mingled together, instead of 2 different layers as I've seen before. The portion of kraut was considerably more than the actual meat itself so at times I had to take out chunks of it just to balance the flavors. The bread was perfect though. Now the meat, the corned beef star of this sandwich, is a little hard to explain. It had a texture that I can best describe as a mashup between Bacon and Chunky Ham. I've never had Corned Beef of this texture before and Im not sure if I really liked it. Twice I had a thick block of meat, like Ham, in my bite and that got me really confused. Came here for the first time for dinner with another couple. Hubby and I ordered their mussels for an appetizer, Hubby ordered their WG Burger, and I ordered their caprese salad. Total came out to a little over $40 (including tip). What's Hot - Coupon when you check in on Yelp. I received a 10% off coupon when I checked in on Yelp. Definitely great and I loved that. Additionally, this coupon didn't have any restrictions- like only valid during certain hours during certain days. I've come across Yelp coupons like that, which weren't very convenient and I wasn't able to use them because of the restrictions. Additionally, when I told our server about my Yelp coupon, there was no difficulty in having it honored. Even better. - Quality. Their mussels were flavorful and delicious! There was plenty of juice soaking the mussels, as well, which I enjoyed and definitely drank up. I loved the garlic flavor and bits of cut tomatoes in the juice. My caprese salad had a decent serving of fresh mozzarella cheese and baby grape tomatoes with just enough balsamic dressing that didn't overpower my salad. My husband really liked his WG Burger that came with candied bacon. - Menu variety. Their menu is a one page menu, which is pretty straightforward and simple. Not overwhelming, which I like. - Price. My mussels are under $9.50, my salad was $12.50 and husband's burger was $13.50. Not that bad. - Location. It's conveniently located with the movie theatre around, other restaurants, shops, etc... However, be prepared for parking issues during busy times/"rush hour". What's Not - They have live music on Friday evenings. Different strokes for different folks, but live music during a meal isn't my thing. It was loud, which made it difficult for us to have a conversation. We found out they usually have live music on Friday evenings until 8:30pm. Just be aware and be prepared. - Service. Service wasn't bad, but it was definitely slow. We had to ask for bread sometime after they served our dinner, rather than it being given to us in the beginning. I'm uncertain whether they're adequately staffed. They have a service button/pager at our table, which we used a couple of times. Our waiter was slow to answer. Additionally, we had to regularly ask for our drinks to be refilled instead of getting automatic refills. They also didn't ask us if we wanted more bread. Observations - Make reservations. This place isn't packed, but there are definitely "rush hour" times, when you have to wait. There were about 10 people ahead of us. My friend made dinner reservations for a specific booth, as well. Daughter and I went here the other night for diner. We both had the special which was filet mignon and a baked potato and french onion soup. The filet was delicious and the french onion soup was among the best I have ever had. The service was super fast and waitress was really friendly. The price for two of us with drinks and tip was like $42 a bargain for such a delicious meal. If I am ever in that area again I would definitely go there again. read more

First time customer, and we really liked the atmosphere. Plenty of booths and tables, and even an outside seating area. Weird hand-written sign on the door that they were closing at 8:30 for mandatory cleaning. I owned a restaurant, and know other people that owned them, and never have I seen a restaurant close early, and lose sales, in order to clean. Cleaning is done after hours. If you are a "yelper", do a check in and you can get 10% off your bill. The menu is extensive, and they also had 2 other sheets of paper with specials, which gets to be too much for me. Our server was quick to take our drink order, but slow to fill them, and the restaurant was fairly empty. In the end, I opted for the tortellini. There were 4 of us and the food came quickly, but 2 orders had their sides switched. My tortellini was tasty, but not as hot as I would have liked. The portion size was good. Others had salmon and chicken and liked them. The French onion soup was liked very much. Service was really lacking. She didn't come by to fill drinks and when we did catch her to order another beer, she forgot to bring it and we had to hunt her down. It wasn't until we were paying our bill that we noticed there was a "buzzer" on the table that we could have used for service. Decided to give this place another try. It took a few times to get a feel for what I liked here. They carry Narcisi peach wine that I love. My favorite appetizer is the battered zucchini- we got this tonight and it was delicious. I ordered a healthier dish, the balsamic grilled chicken. It was delightful and had fresh basil on top. I always upgrade and get the strawberry balsamic salad. Highly suggest! They also served three different items with our bread, two butters and a hummus. The cherry butter is surprisingly very good. I ended up ordering seafood pasta. The portion was very big for me so it covered me for 2-3 separate meals. I also liked that the noodles were holow which allowed them to hold more of the sauce and seafood flavor. The sauce on the pasta was very light - with a little touch of lemon, butter and olive oil with mixed with the natural juices of the seafood. I really prefer that kind of a sauce over a heavier sauce since it allowed me to really savor the natural flavor of the seafood. Our server, Ryan, was great -- he was timely (despite there only being one bartender on staff and numerous drink orders); very friendly; and even took the time to split our checks and make sure they were all accurate. We went to Walnut Grill for Easter brunch yesterday. To say the food was terrible, is an understatement. The prime rib was raw, not rare, raw and cold. The salads were inedible. The au gratin potatoes were gray and undercooked because the person cooking them does not know how to make au gratin potatoes. The fish was mush. The desserts were the cheapest you could buy. I wasn't blown away whatsoever so I thought for sure I would never return to any location . I had a sudden change of heart this past weekend and decided to give the Robinson location a try. Needless to say there was clearly a reason I said I didn't want to go back. The menu looks enticing with all of its options but the food is nothing special whatsoever. After much debating I decided to order a Bloody Mary with my brunch. I'm a Bloody Mary snob so I was very hesitant going into it until I saw what it looked like and it seemed like it could be half decent. Wrong again. It tasted like watered down Campbell's tomato soup. I couldn't even force it down it was so bad. As a Bloody Mary fanatic, it was a disgrace that they would even call that a Bloody Mary. Food wise I decided to go with the biscuits and gravy. I thought surely they would have to be good if my work cafeteria can manage to make good biscuits and gravy. Wrong again. It didn't event look appetizing. The gravy looked as if they decided to be cheap and replace some of the cream/milk with water. It just didn't even look right. The biscuits didn't taste fresh at all and the eggs were most definitely not poached. Having a runny egg doesn't make it poached. The egg white shouldn't be completely cooked and rubbery. With my recent experience it's safe to say I'm done giving any Walnut Grill a chance. If you enjoy good quality, homemade food I would not recommend it. I was looking forward to dining here because I passed by so many times, but I was disappointed. I had the lunchtime prime rib sandwich with a walnut salad. The walnut salad was excellent with walnuts, cranberries and other things, but the prime rib sandwich was disappointing --- it was dripping with grease, extra salty and extra cheesy. It was the type of sandwich I would expect from a low quality neighborhood pizza shop, not an upscale restaurant like Walnut Grill. Now some people might like their sandwich this way, but I am more health conscious and I don't like wiping my hands to get the oil off every time I take a bite. His place is wonderful! I was hesitant based on the reviews but really didn't want to go to a "chain" restaurant while visiting. Tried he Walnit Grill and was not disappointed! The staff was friendly and the food full of flavor, served beautifully, great temps and well everything was great! The mushroom chicken was a favorite along with the stuffed banana peppers (spicy.)
