Great ice cream and unique flavors! I was recently in this shopping center for an Elite event at Curry Do which is like 3 doors down from Wanderlust. After having lunch, I was in the mood for dessert so I stopped by Wanderlust and it was delicious! I will admit that there was no one working the counter as the staff was doing something in the back so I waited for about 5 minutes before someone came out. But that was the only super minor inconvenience about this place. Nothing that I would hold against them. Once she came out, she was all smiles and it only added to the positive vibes I got from this place. As far as the ice cream goes, I love that they have small portions here because I find that many ice cream places give you too large of a cup/cone for what you need/want. I also love the flavors available here. After taste testing a couple flavors, I ultimately decided to order their special collaboration flavor that they're currently doing with H&M (yes the clothing company you see in malls). Kind of an odd collaboration in my opinion, but I'm here for it if it means I get to have Honey and Malt flavored ice cream. I loved this place and would definitely come back here again next time I'm in Costa Mesa and craving some good ice cream. read more

If you're a fan of unique or Asian-inspired flavors, then Wanderlust is definitely worth checking out. The portions are a bit on the smaller end but I love all the flavor options Wanderlust has to offer. I ended up ordering a "split scoop" ($7.00) of the Thai Tea with Boba and the Black Sesame Cookies and Cream. Both flavors were enjoyable although I didn't get much "cookies and cream" in the Black Sesame C&C as it tasted more just like black sesame. Service was prompt and I was able to sample a couple flavors before making my decision. Wanderlust is located in an older strip mall where parking was plentiful around noon of the weekend. Stopped by Wanderlust Creamery today while out for dinner; I'm not from the area, but the raving reviews convinced me to check it out! My husband and I stopped by and were greeted right away and offered samples, with service that was quick and friendly! The shop was clean and had a welcoming, aesthetically pleasing vibe with cozy decor. I tried two half scoops: the seasonal Christmas Salted Sugar Cookie and Rocky Road, in a chocolate waffle cone. The Christmas flavor was surprisingly yummy, salty-sweet with nice cookie bits; I'd def get a full scoop next time! Rocky Road hit the spot too, with a good mix of sweet and salty. This has been my new favorite ice cream shop in Socal since they started opening physical locations several years ago. Wanderlust Creamery has been making unique travel-inspired ice cream flavors every since they started out as a popup at the local markets before blowing up in popularity! They have new seasonal flavors every month with a core selection of delicious flavors that they became famous for. There are plenty of unique flavors here to sample and you can try all of them if you want. Service is friendly and the staff are welcoming when you come in. The current seasonal flavors which I got on my visit last night were delicious and I loved how they were inspired by Lunar New Year. I've been to this business a few times and all of the ice cream flavors I've tried have been really good. Every time I've been here it hasn't been crowded at all. So very convenient since I work down the street at the hospital and I can even use my lunch break to go here. The flavors here are so fun and interesting it is 100% worth a stop. Far and away the most outstanding one is the passionfruit cacao! My friend can't eat dairy and I'm so happy for her that she gets to have the best flavor they've got! Just a lot of space to stand around after ordering ice cream. Parking may get a little hard during peak times with all the other restaurants and businesses in the plaza. Wanderlust is different from other ice cream shops because their ice cream is inspired by countries all around the world, and you can really taste the flavors and ingredients that are described. They have a variety of signature flavors that are available all year round, and rotating seasonal flavors that change every month. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors here, truly. You can buy ice cream by the scoop, split scoop, tasting trio, etc. in a cup or cone (they even have ube cone!) and even by the pint (select flavors). They also allow for samples (but please be mindful of line etiquette). My favorite flavor that I swear by is the Ube Malted Crunch. I literally cannot leave any Wanderlust location without this. I love Wanderlust and was so excited when they opened up a location in Irvine a year ago so that I wouldn't have to spend hours in LA traffic anymore. I've been to both SoCal Wanderlust locations a few times and honestly, both are disappointing to me. I prefer this Costa Mesa store over Irvine though Starting with the positives, both the Irvine and Costa Mesa stores are clean and the service is generally friendly and fast (lines move pretty quick during ice cream rush hour lol) Unfortunately, the ice cream itself rarely gives me the serotonin release I want and expect. Both Wanderlust's signature and seasonal flavors are more often misses than hits for me. Personally, I also think some of the flavors are pretty muted and it kinda ends up feeling like I'm just eating something with a hint of the claimed flavor and you have to imagine the rest of it as it was described to you. Notably, the ube and mango flavors in their signature ube malted crunch and sticky rice and mango scoops are disappointingly faint and dull An exception: July 2025's creponne was pretty good. It was refreshingly bright, tangy, and floral Flavors are subjective though so maybe Wanderlust's flavors just aren't my thing and that's ok. Maybe you'll enjoy their flavors more than me Moving onto the topic of the mix-ins, they're usually sparse. You'll only get a particle of chocolate, crackers, cake, etc... every few bites and it's TINY pieces at that. If you're a fan of large chunks of mix-ins in your ice cream like pints of Ben and Jerry's, you'll probably find yourself disappointed by the lack of texture here. Anecdotally, every single scoop I've ordered that was meant to have solids in some way to provide texture has only had small bits and pieces (think similar size as flaky sea salt) and they're spread few and far between the ice cream itself But the texture of the ice cream is also a problem because of storage or a poor churn on numerous occasions for both custard-based and sherbet / sorbet flavors at both Costa Mesa and Irvine. You more often than not will get a scoop full of ice crystals and the texture trends towards grainy and gritty. To me, Wanderlust's textures are pretty much the polar opposite of what I expect in a good ice cream (even when it isn't soft serve): rich, creamy, and luscious. The scoops here rarely deliver on any of those fronts My final gripe is just pricing and portion sizes. A single scoop is $7 and at Irvine, that scoop is sometimes just slightly larger in volume than an EOS lip balm. Costa Mesa tends to be better with giving larger scoops. $7 isn't a problem since this is average for a scoop or small cup in Irvine and south OC, but when the cup has about equal or more empty space than it has ice cream, it just doesn't feel worth the price especially given my frustrations with the flavors and texture read more

I've always been a fan of wanderlust creamery but only always got it in Pasadena. Such a convenient location now that it's way closer! The service was good, we were helped by Julina. She was very helpful and patient with my kids and let us sample some flavors. I highly recommend the ube malted crunch and the pandan tres leches, can't go wrong with these traditional flavors, not overly sweet but still super flavorful. My daughters loved the Hokey Pokey and the smoky road! I want to go back and try some of the other seasonal flavors! Everything is so good and creamy! Even their waffle cones were good! We tried the vanilla one! Inside is small but very clean. There is no seating area inside but outside there are some chairs and if you go to the corner outside near blue bowl there are tables and chairs to sit in. This location is located in a plaza next to a bunch of other restaurants and foodie places such as anjin, halal guys, blue bowl, uncle tetsu, 7 leaves, and capitol seafood. There's limited parking and I can see if it gets busy how it might be hard to get a space for parking bc it's surrounded by a lot of great places to eat and drink drinks. Grand opening day was pretty fun. Got there at 3pm for their Friday 6pm opening and I was 5th. Not competitive at all. Some people were #45 at 4:30pm.
