Google searched for a restuarant in the Livermore area and found this place. It has very good reviews, so this was going to be on the top list to go to for a meet up with my cousins for lunch. We saw quite a few people waiting outside for the restuarant to open when we got there. Good thing we followed the crowd because the restuarant is very small. This place is not for a group....only for a group of 4 people max. The food is very good and the price is right The service was good as well and they always made sure your water glass was filled up. Such a disappointment. The hubby and I haven't had sushi together in about 8 months so we were really looking forward to coming here based on the reviews we read here. When we arrived it was very chaotic and we kinda just stood there for almost 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Soon after we were sat and drinks and the garlic edamame were ordered and brought right away. The edamame was delicious! SUPER garlicky! We ordered when the drinks were brought and then we waited. And waited. Annnd waited. This restaurant is small so we we couldn't understand why we were waiting over an hour for 4 tolls and teriyaki chicken. The chicken came out before the rolls, while I was cutting up for my little one(with only a plastic fork as knives weren't available) I noticed the chicken was very fatty. It was only confirmed when she took a bite and spit it out. When the rolls finally came my hubby was happy with his. He said they had good flavor and he liked them. He had the super rainbow and the kiss of death(or something like that). I had yellowtail sushi and it tasted almost sour...you know the taste when the fish isn't cold and it kinda tastes funny? That's how this tasted. My rainbow roll was a little mushy so it was a little distracting to the taste. I thought being closer to the coast than where we live that we would get fresher fish. Guess I was wrong. When we asked why the wait was so long we were told it was because they were short staffed. That was odd to us because when we walked in there were so many employees in each other's way that one guy actually bumped into a poor girl who was carrying a tray of miso soups and spilled it everywhere. I sure wish Wasabi Bistro was closer because... YUM! We arrived just as they were opening the door. This is recommended because it is a tiny and very popular spot... for good reason! I read very positive reviews of the garlic edamame so we had to try it. Oh my goodness, what an amazing dish! Our first impression was the garlic edamame tasted like steak. These warm, garlicky morsels were pure perfection. If you find yourself at Wasabi Bistro, do yourself a favor and order the garlic edamame. I had to try the Hamachi Kama (collar) because I've never seen it in a menu before. It was grilled, topped with lemon and scallions and came with an incredible sauce. It's a little tricky to eat with chopsticks, but not too bad. I found it helpful to pour a tad of sauce onto the fish rather than trying to dip each bite into the sauce. The sauce really made the dish. The flavor was very good, but now that I've tried it, I don't think I would order it again. I ordered seven pieces of hamachi sashimi. This hamachi was so very fresh and delectable. The flavor of the fish as it melted in my mouth filled my senses. It was nirvana. Mark ordered the Hot Mana roll. All I'll say is he is still talking about it today. He said he would make the trip to Livermore any time to eat here again. I couldn't agree more. read more

If you're accustomed to Korean owned Japanese sushi place, this one is better than okay. But their service prone to be problematic and slow both as sit-ins and take outs, especially during the holidays and weekends. And they would be unapologetic about it. This place has very decent rolls for the price. Anywhere else is more expensive with the same quality roll (amakara). However, these good prices come at a cost which is their bluefin toro quality. It was very tendony and was not the texture you would expect from a cut of toro. When you order toro you expect the best, softest cut from the tuna. Not sure what happened tonight. Our ETA time for order online pick up was 7:03 pm. We showed up at 7:15 the young lady told us 15 more mins. I came back in at 7:30 and our order was still not done. At 7:45 I went in the check again order was still not done. They were super backed up and had orders coming out of their ears. Too many people inside waiting. 8:00 pm we finally were able to leave with our order only to come home with part of the order messed up. I don't know if I would order again online. Had trouble calling them because their phone only rang and rang. Then went to a mailbox that was full. I want to have a favorite sushi spot here in Livermore but none has even come close to Amakara in Dublin. We placed an online order at 6:00 pm and didn't get our order until 8 pm. Descent place ...not a great location. There are some restaurants that are are hidden gems but this particular sushi establishment is too unkown to be tucked away ..esp off Spring St in Livermore ...on the OTHER side of the exit. The entire restaurant has a wall splitting the place in half (kinda wierd). This place is the best sushi place in Livermore. Lunch is the best time to come, but it's a small space so try to come right 15 min before noon or 15 min before 1pm. If you get a sushi lunch plate, you get 6-8 roll pieces, a bunch of sashimi, plus miso soup and a salad for ~$15. The salmon here is the best I've ever had, and the hamachi is also amazing. For reference I don't go out to sushi often but I've been here twice in the past month! The chirashi bowl is also a good pick. It's super filling and also comes with soup + salad. It comes with about 4-5 types of sashimi + seaweed salad and rice. Both times I've been here a group has ordered a huge party platter that has a whole fish on it, so I'm definitely looking to come and try that one time. I found this restaurant through Yelp using the Current Location feature! There are two locations, one in Livermore, and one in SF. I ordered a chirashi bowl, hot mama roll, lion king roll, dragon roll, and the pink boy roll. The assortment of fish on the chirashi bowl tasted fresh and I loved the sushi rice that was underneath the fish. The rolls were also really flavorful; I would have to say my favorite roll was the hot mama roll. We ordered online, and the website was very user friendly and picked up our order at the exact time we had set it for. This review update is so long overdue! Wasabi Bistro has officially lodged itself in my heart as my favorite sushi place, and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Regardless of whether you judge based on food quality, reasonable prices, or distinguishable service, Wasabi Bistro excels. On a Saturday night on the way driving back from Los Angeles, I had bookmarked Wasabi Bistro in Livermore since it received a glowing review from the Contra Costa Times. It's tucked away in a little strip center off the 580 freeway. Plenty of parking. We didn't have reservations but were seated in about 15 min. It's a tiny place with about 7 seats at the sushi bar. We took the first available table, We ordered most of items off the special board placed on the sushi bar. Sashimi: Japanese Salmon, Abalone, scallops Sushi: Hamachi, Toro, Aji Hand roll: Salmon Skin All excellent ! Surprising that instead of going west toward SF, we found a gem of a sushi place toward the East on 580. There were other items on the menu but the special fish were so good. I have been on some type of personal mission it seems like to find the best beef teriyaki or just the best Japanese food in general. I am taking my time to explore raw sushi, so until I get to that point it's all about the beef, chicken teriyaki and anything other than sushi lol. A few of my Yelp friends (John L. and Bryan R.) frequent this place quite often and it seems to be their fav go to sushi spot in the Livermore area. I decided to see what this place was all about while visiting Livermore one day. WB is located in a small plaza and the restaurant itself is extremely tiny. I initially wanted to dine inside but it was a full house and the wait was about a good 30-40 minutes. I was greeted instantly and told how long the wait for dining in would be but once I told them it was to go I was handed a menu. The staff here was very attentive and welcoming despite how busy they were. There were two other parties ahead of me who also opted for take out as oppose to waiting the 30-40 minutes. It was around the lunch rush hour on a Friday so I can see why this place was super crowded. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki Lunch Bento Box ($10.95) with gyoza, rice, salad and miso soup. The pricing here was great considering many of the Japanese restaurants in the East Bay area are usually a couple dollars higher. My meal was cooked to perfection and so good, the beef teriyaki was so tender and coated nicely with extra teriyaki sauce. The rice, salad and miso soup were pretty standard, can't really go wrong with that. Now the gyoza was super yummers, nice and crunchy on the outside, the pork filling was very flavorful and the dipping sauce was unique it had some extra ingredients I wasn't expecting and also had a little kick to it and really complimented the gyoza very well. Overall the meal was awesome and the service was great, I will be coming back to try more items on the menu and maybe i'll get brave and try a sushi roll or two! read more

The missus and I were in the mood to eat out last night. As we were readying our two tikes to head out, we realized our usual Sushi joint Manpuku was going to close in 15 minutes. "Don't fear" I said, "let me check Yelp, I have bookmarked this amazing place called Bistro Sushi in Livermore Springtown. My friend John (the King of Tracy) just ate there recently and posted these amazing pics." I called and made reservations, and when we got there they had the perfect window table ready for us, high chair and all! Ignoring the concerned looks from the dating couple seated at the table next to us - there were other kids there but I totally understand (our little one looks like trouble!) - we ensconced ourselves into our cosy corner and ordered our feast! Standouts: Decor - stylish and elegant but not over the top - we did not feel out of place or underdressed. Service - discreetly attentive and quick, and they were incredibly sweet to our kids. They don't have a kids menu but offer tot-friendly cups, plates & utensils (including kid-chopsticks!) Food - AMAZING. We especially enjoyed the Dragon Balls appetizer (crispy on the outside, soft and yummy inside) and sushi rolls. And my sashimi appetizer had the freshest fish I've had in a long long time - the morsels literally melted in my mouth. Watch-outs: It's a small restaurant and space is at a premium - but we had a reservation (made just 30 minutes before!) so there was no wait. A few couples came after us and left because there was going to be a long wait. Areas to Improve: Teriyaki chicken was "meh" - fortunately my four-year-old (who adores teriyaki) ate the dragon balls and tempura instead. Large portions, reasonable prices, personable service and a new clean restaurant make for a terrific experience. I've been to Wasabi Bistro twice. The first time was as a walk-in customer. By chance, Danny had just finished serving another diner and was able to take and make my to go order immediately. I ordered a California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and Hamachi Nigiri. The quality of the Nigiri was excellent. The rice is quality rice with no broken grains. It's properly seasoned and not squeezed to death. While the rice portion was larger than what I prefer, I can't complain because the slice of Hamachi on top was even larger! And it was served at a decent temperature. The fish should never be served so cold that it feels like it just came out of the freezer. You can't taste it when it's that cold. At $3.95 per two-piece order, it's a deal that can't be beat. The two rolls were very good in flavor and also a decent size. Definitely a decent sized meal for one costing me under $15. My second visit was with a co-worker the next day. We both ordered Dinner Bento Boxes for $15.95 each. Along with the Miso Soup, we also got some Edamame, Cold Green Salad, Rice, and a wedge of chilled Orange. Then we got to choose two items from Chicken, Beef and Salmon Teriyaki, Tonkatsu, Saba Shioyaki, Nigiri, Tempura, Gyoza, California Roll or Sashimi. Because we called in before leaving from work, a table was reserved for us and our food came out shortly after our arrival. I ordered the Tempura and Sashimi with 3 pieces each of Salmon and Hamachi. I was pleasantly surprised that the Tempura was a more than reasonable portion of 2 Shrimp and about 5 veg. The Sashimi slices were also quite decent. My co-worker went back on his own a couple of days later and once again, thoroughly enjoyed his Bento Box. Went to Wasabi Bistro last night after getting tired of the local sushi shops in Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro, Dublin/Pleasanton so we headed out to Livermore to check this place out. The first impression was "spotless". Super clean place, and they had nice high end sushi fridge at the counter. Their rolls were actually different than many places where every roll has crab (BORING) in side. We did the 49er roll, SP Salmon, Salmon Skin Salad (more on this) and fresh Bluefin Nigiri. The nigiri was probably the freshest bluefin I have had in a long time. The rice was made the way it should be with good flavor and good texture and held together. The fish was all extremely fresh. I give it the big sniff test and there was no fishy smell. I could see then cut and use the same fish for the sashimi in the rolls where a lot of places hide their older fish in the rolls. Not here. The garlic edamame was AWESOME! Super fresh beans, not those mushy over steamed cold beans you find other places. This was hot, very nice garlic flavor but not over powering garlic and just the right amount of soy sauce for a nice salty flavor but not too salty. The Salmon Skin Salad blew our mind. Huge amount of crispy Salmon skin on a nice bed of greens and shredded marinated veggies, with a very generous amount of tobiko and seaweed salad crowned on top. A nice sprinkling of Sriracha sauce over the salad. Mix it up and you have an incredible combination. This is the only place in the East Bay I have seen a salad done like this and it was a must have for next time. Pricing was good, with rolls ranging from 8 to 13.00. The larger rolls are big, 8 pieces and nice girth with large amounts of fish. The nice thing is that everything didn't have fried shrimp or crab inside as the base to every roll. This is by far the best sushi restaurant in the East Bay Area. We live around 20 miles away but Wasabi Bistro is always our family's top choice for when we want to order great, satisfying sushi. The lunch specials are an amazing deal for the fresh quality of the sushi, and for the portions you get as well! We have never been disappointed in what we ordered, whether it be a roll or one of the bowl items. The chirashi bowl is always my favorite, and the overall quality of all the fish or taste has never strayed from stellar in the past few years we've gone here. So worth the visit!! read more

Their chicken is delicious with the orange sauce. Unfortunately the amount of sauce they give you is the size of cough syrup you give to a child. I asked for extra and if you were to put them all together it wont even fill up 1. Please switch to a bigger sauce container! Finally jumped on the Wasabi Bistro bandwagon, but alas, this is not a bandwagon review, it is purely an "AWESOME SUSHI" review. After hearing many good things, my friend and I decided to come in around 12:30 today for some lunch. Small restaurant, and apparently very popular. We were seated at the sushi bar, so it was kind of fun seeing all the sushi made! We ordered: Salmon Terikyaki (includes rice and veggies) Chicken Teriyaki (Same thing) Rainbow Roll Lion King Roll Approximately 9.90 for each item, which isn't bad. Whole meal came to about $42, so it's not cheap to eat out here. They have cheaper roll alternatives that are smaller and more modest in ingredients (veggie rolls, etc.). Best deal seems to be their lunch box special which is $9.99 for two choices of listed entree options (although only active Mon-Fri :-( sad we missed it). Wasabi has become my favorite tri-valley sushi spot; not only is the food super good, but the service is excellent. Servers are attentive and Sashimi is melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Driving to Dublin and was asked to order from this place in Livermore. We placed orders (telephone) for Ben roll, Exotic rill, WB roll, 49er roll, and Rock N roll. Quite a wait even if we ordered 45mins ahead. But it was worth the wait. Everything was good but i love the 49ers the best. read more

My usual spot for sushi as they have been consistently good except for tonight. We ordered the usual items of sashimi XL platter, hamachi kama, udon and sushi rolls but the sashimi didn't taste fresh as usual which was disappointing. The hamachi kama was dry and a bit tough to eat and my nephew found a piece of plastic in his udon. The best items were the uni, tempura and rolls. read more

Friendly service! Rolls were pretty good....to rate because I've had some good sushi and rolls in Hawaii so compared to those it was fine/good for our area. Restaurant set up is a long rectangle so we got seated towards the back right next to where they have their supplies for drinks and such. Not terrible but didn't give off a great dining ambiance. But gave 4 stars because service was great and they were very friendly. read more
