I had a new submariner watch that needed to be fit to my wrist. I thought links would need to be taken out. But, the shop took a careful look and saw that the clasp could be adjusted without having to remove any links. They did this for free! I took my watch for a battery replacement. It was a walk in quick replacement. After getting the watch back, I noticed small dents on the top surface of the watch. The dents can't not be fixed or removed. I'll try to replace the battery myself next time. read more

I am elated to see and read that Vince continues to run his watch business (now as, "Watchworks" in Walnut Creek) --- I was sad to see his Redwood City shop close, but I am excited to visit Vince's Walnut Creek shop in search for a new Rolex in the near future. I would give this place no stars if it was possible. I dropped off a watch for repair here 2 years ago. I have gone back numerous times and the store is either closed (even though it's within the posted store hours) or the person behind the counter can't find my watch. They have called Vince, the owner, on more than 1 occasions to locate the watch to no avail. On the day I first dropped off my watch for repair, the lady in front of me was frustrated and asking for her clock back after sitting in the shop for 6 months. I should have listened to her and just left. If you go here for anything but a simple battery change, don't expect to see your item back any time soon or ever in my case since they have lost my watch and have not offered to pay me for my watch. read more

I took a Seiko watch in to have the stem put back on and was in the shop for 8 weeks at least. He said the crystal is replaced with the stem for 75.oo.when I finally got it home I noticed a little chip in the edge of the crystal. then the watch would not keep the correct time. I put it in my desk drawer only to notice more scratches on the crystal. I am not certain but I think they are supposed to be a glass crystal. Oh well lost correct time so i don't use anyhow. No way I am taking it back. read more

I know that I am in the minority here but high Yelp reviews were the very reason I took my watches to this place. Incredibly, Watchworks had my two watches for almost two years, and only one needed a battery. One is a diving watch bought in Switzerland in the late 70s and yes, it can be tricky to get the case off, but it shouldn't take two years. obviously I've had the watch since the 70s wearing it almost constantly and I take it in to get new batteries every 5 years or less. No one has ever not been able to do it, even Ace Hardware. The other is a brand new new (2 years ago) Michael Kors watch that stopped running for whatever reason, I did not know. That was the watch that was the bottleneck I guess, based on the numerous times I dropped by or called only to find out the watches weren't ready yet, and it was the Michael Kors problem that they could not figure out. Finally, I dropped by to pick up the watches because I was just going to go someplace else. I asked for the watches and it turns out that neither of them was running/had a running battery. I guess because they've been there so long. So they quickly put in batteries and then presented me with a bill for $225 that was not itemized. I express my outrage, especially since they had been there for so long. The owner, I suppose Vince, said well, they were both broken and we had to fix them. He also denied that I had dropped by several times or called. I insisted that I had and he insisted he was the only person ever there which I know is not true because I went in once and there was a woman there. And another time there was another man there. He ended up cutting the bill in half to $125 and I paid it even though at that point I wasn't sure I was getting my money's worth. 2 days later, you guessed it, the Michael Kors watch stopped. I called and left a message telling them the watch stopped and could they call me and of course they never called me back. I have since then received a recommendation for a place here in Martinez and I'm not going to look it up on Yelp, I'm just going to go there and see if they can fix my Michael Kors watch if indeed a new battery was even put in it. I don't know why my service experience was so dreadful but I myself will never go there again and I will tell anyone else who wants to listen that if you have any kind of a nice timepiece or clock and you would like it fixed right, and you would like good customer service, this is not the place in my opinion. read more

Vince and Kieu do an outstanding job at repairing my watches and clocks. I had a watch which the manufacturer determined unrepairable and Kieu was able to fix it in 10 minutes. They have a pretty good selection of new and antique clocks/watches for sale and can service just about anything that keeps time. The great service and prices is an added bonus. read more

My newest watch uses screw bars to attach the strap to case rather than spingbars. This can be tricky since you need to hold two small screwdrivers on either side of the watch to unscrew the bar. Not wanting to scratch the finish on my brand new watch, I took it to watchworks to see what they could do. Long story short, they got the bars out, the strap changed, and a replacement battery put in an old quartz I brought with me all in under five minutes, and damn near free. The gentleman that helped me was very friendly and complimented me on my watch, which is always nice. If you need some work done on your watch in the WC/Pleasant Hill area, I'd definitely give these guys a shot. read more

Found this place thanks to Yelp. I had a watch that needed the band fixed and a new battery. Walked in at about 10:35 and Vince had my watch fixed and a new battery installed in less than 10 minutes. I have taken this watch to about 5 different repair places and none of them have been able to fix the band. In and out in less than 10 minutes and my total bill was about $12. They repaired a 200 year old mantle clock. It stopped working within days of bringing it home. Took it back and they fixed it again. It stopped working again. After $600 it didn't work. Took the click to a watch and clock repair in a local Ace Hardware Store who said the clock hadn't been cleaned in ages. He cleaned and tuned up the clock and it works like a charm. read more

Hooray - yesterday the watch I ordered FINALLY arrived!! After waiting for 30 minutes to pick it up from UPS, I get home, open the box, and discover the watch band was BROKEN! My brand-new enamel watch I'd spent $$ on & waited WEEKS to arrive... Needless to say, I was pissed... As customer service was NO help (and I wasn't paying $20 to ship it back and wait another 3 weeks for a replacement) I decided to bite the bullet and pay to have the band fixed.... and thank goodness for Yelp! I found great reviews for Watchworks in Walnut Creek, just 5 minutes from work, so I stopped by here on my lunch break, brought my new watch and an old one that also had a band with a busted link... Literally 5 MINUTES after I arrived, I had my 2 watches fixed and back in my hand. They were very nice, extremely quick, cheap, and I got what I needed. I am very pleased. read more

My son took his brand new watch to Watchworks to have a few links removed, which was done while he waited for $10. The owner took the watch into the back room to remove two links. When he brought it back out, my son pointed out that a pin securing a link was not in place. The owner took the watch to the back room once more to fix. Upon returning, the pin had been properly inserted. (You would have thought the owner should have noticed he did not properly set the pin the first time.) Anyway, that evening my son observed several scratches on the band, and observed two scratches on the side of the watch case. I went back to the shop with my son to point out these scratches and to see what could be done to fix them. The owner was rude and ridiculed my son saying he was not "a man" because I had come back with him. The owner insisted he could not have scratched the watch and would have noticed if he had. (He failed to notice he didn't place the pin through the link correctly the first time!) He then brought out his tools he used to remove watch band links consisting of an old plastic vice contraption, a hammer and center punch. In an attempt to show us how he did it, he then jammed the watch back into the vice several times assuming this was sufficient proof that scratches were impossible. It was easy to see how mars and scratches could result in the way he handled my son's new watch, and in the crude tools used. Perhaps the owner should be a car mechanic, but not somebody hired to make repairs to your delicate and intricate watch or clock. I would not entrust your old or new watch/clock with this shop. read more

I've never paid more than $20 to get it fixed and sometimes they haven't charged me anything because they could quickly take care of a problem.
