As soon as we walked in, I knew it was a mistake. Nobody greeted us. On a card on the table listed the Happy Hour prices for beer from 8 am to 1 pm. At 12:45, we were told Happy Hour was over. I thought " the food at least better be good". It wasn't. I had the scallops and chips, my husband had the fish and chips. The chips were awful; I've had better frozen fries from the supermarket. I used Viking Food service to order lunch from here. I've had both good and bad experiences but the bad is beginning to outweigh the good. Today we put in an order for two french dips with au jus, french fries for each and asked for one side of ranch. Instead we received two philly steak sandwiches, no ranch, waterered down au jus and seriously overcooked french fries. If accuracy is at all important to you, I'd stick to what their known for (fish n' chips) if your ordering online or nothin at all. read more

If I could give this establishment a negative rating, it would have -5, it's just a bar with a kitchen...should have left with my gut instinct. Prepackaged breaded deep fried food, tasteless, the side orders were smelt and obviously should have been thrown away. Shouldn't be serving any kind of food here, health hazard. read more

Good place for a cheap beer and a great view. Big windows let lots of sunlight in, pretty good amount of seating (some tables overlooking the water) and they run a daily bar special. We only stopped by for beer but the girl behind the counter was funny and helpful. read more

Halloween night and the place was rockin'. D and L the barkeeps were keeping busy as the crowd started filtering in after 8:00. Dinner was ok. Good. Nothing special, but not the horrible bar food one might expect from the pull-tab, poker bar ambiance. Wife had decent steak, mashed potatoes, veggies, I the French dip with fries. Both were good preparations for an absorbing night on the local holiday of the year. I'd go there again, as I keep saying every time I go, yes since the '70's. Yes, there are characters there, a large part of the draw, for me. But the bar has shunned the obvious camp. "Ted" Fried steak, Malvo mashed potatoes and the Bianchi burger are all missing from the menu. read more

I have to say I am super disappointed. I just ordered the 16 dollar something halibut, an order of the calamari, and an order of the fish and chips. There is NO WAY this is the halibut and chips I come in all the time and order to go. Usually the halibut is flakey and juicy and comes in more of a flat wide plank. This order was three tiny and thick, dry and chewy pieces or chunks shall you say...not worth the money. Just because I used the Viking service this time because of the convenience of me not having to drive, doesn't mean I don't expect the same quality I get when I call in an order to go and come pick it up. Beat fish and chips in Bellingham. We walk down and get them to go every once in awhile when we have the salt , grease, seafood & French fry craving. I like the captains plate - plenty of food for two adults and I get the oysters which my wife doesn't eat... No kids indoors - but you can order at the to go window and eat across the street at the park. read more

I went here for the first time last weekend. The bartender was awesome, the beers were cheap, and the whiskeys were nice, big pours. There was a birthday happening and they had balloons shaped like breasts. I chewed some rubber nipples, ate greasy delicious oysters, and hobnobbed with the regulars. Apparently DC sniper John Allen Muhammad, Ted Bundy, and the Hillside Strangler all bellied up to this bar. I didn't ask about because I thought it would be uncouth. This is now my new favorite watering hole while visiting Bellingham. read more

As long as you know that this isn't a dance club and you just want to have a beer with friends and chat with regulars this is a great stop. When I was there last we ended up talking to these two guys about deep sea fishing and marriage. It was a lot of fun. They have regular card games which is pretty neat and dart boards as well. read more

Because I forgot my ID we weren't allowed to sit inside, or out in the gated area. The bartender took our order (to go, because I wasn't allowed to wait, or eat inside) and was prompt to bring it out. She made me feel very unwelcome, and my date couldn't even order a beer for himself because I was with him. Once we got our fish & chips, it was so oily it dripped all down my clothing, soaked two napkins, and even Ivars tasted better. The French fries were mediocre in addition to the service. I only gave this place a single star because you cant see the glow of no stars. I went for fish and chips by accident...forgot about the Web Locker. This place is not kid friendly; they use styrofoam; and its not the best fish and chips in town as they claim. Very filthy establishment. This place was amazing! Great atmosphere, it really has it's own unique charm. People can say what they want, but I really enjoyed the sunset view in the back. Yes, I'm a little creepy and morbid, so when I found out it was the hangout for one of America's most notorious serial killers, I was ecstatic. I'll keep coming back. Came to try the fish and chips. The cook stumbled into this job less than a decade ago when the van he bought from a church in Illinois broke down in Bellingham. He married the bar owners daughter and had 3 kids. Luckily, he can cook. For about ten bucks serves a moderate amount of fish accompanied by a ton of fries. The cod is frozen. It tastes as good as any code that you think you are eating fresh. It is firm and has no lingering odors. The in-house made panko batter is great. I could have used some more coleslaw with a little more acid to cut the fried fried fried fare. This is the quintessential dive bar and I love it. The bartender has been there over 2 years and she knows her stuff. There are definitely a large number of local clientele who are repeat offenders. The football special of a beer and cheese burger for $5 sounds like a deal. There is a large selection of beer. This is definitely the town's dive bar in the fish and chips are great. The ratio of fish to chips is definitely too many chips and too little fish. Next time I'm trying the fried oysters. They are very friendly and very competent. read more

Walked into this establishment with the anticipation of "the best fish and chips in town", left after being ignored for ten minutes with only five other patrons inside. Seems like if you're not a local or don't ride a Harley you are not a priority. i was skateboarding in bellingham last tuesday and as i was riding, all of a sudden, i roll over a little pebble with my wheel and it completely stops my skateboard. i launch forward and scrape my knee. i brush myself off and look at the pebble i hit and yell at it for being an ass. as i was yelling at the ass pebble i notice it's lying right next to a pull tab...like the ones you see in bars sometimes that can win you small prizes. at that moment, out of nowhere, a beautiful woman that happened to be there, goes to pick up the pull tab. as she reaches for it i notice that she's missing a finger. but she was still very pretty. she looks at my knee and sees that it is slightly bleeding. she feels bad, so she hands me the pull tab. the pull tab was already used, and it's a loser, but it was a nice gesture. i tell her thanks, and that i'm sorry that she had lost a finger. she says that it's ok and then points across the street to the waterfront tavern. she says the loser pull tab is from there. she invites me into the waterfront tavern to play some more pull tabs. i accept, and i'm glad i did. read more
