They will douse you with water!! It was my bf's first time ever watching Waterworld, so it was really enjoyable for me to see his expressions to the pyrotechnics and stunts that the actors did. What's super impressive is that they are able to fall from such great heights into a small tank. We especially liked the giant plane that flew over the walls. The best show out of the 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood. It's funny, action packed, and not at all corny or predictable. I was impressed by the stunts they were able to pull off considering the size of their stage/pool area. You wouldn't think that they be able to crash an airplane in front of you or that they could set literally everything on fire. Seats are pretty good everywhere but the best would have to be dead center in the middle rows. No splash and a front view of the show. We were seated on the right hand side and sometimes the poles would hide a bit what the actors were doing. But nothing too major. This was a really cool live-action show. I enjoyed it. We had VIP passes so we had some pretty decent seats. A guy not to far from us got soused and his camera got soaked (he was sitting outside the splash zone but close to it kind'a so that's a warning). I was worried about that bc I didn't want to get wet. We were lucky but it's really luck of the draw I think if you are anywhere in the first 10-15 rows. Because they can only do so much with those jet skis as far as precision. Anyway - the show itself is pretty damn cool. I loved this movie and have seen it like two dozen times. I don't know why it was a bomb in the theater but I have always been a fan! The set is true to the movie and the story follows the movie pretty closely. The stunts are great, loved the water action sequences, and I was entertained the entire time. Good stuff! This was my favorite show/entertainment at Universal Studios Hollywood. First off I've never seen the actual movie Waterworld so I really didn't know what to expect here. The set is pretty cool surrounded by water of course. The show is really good and a must see great pyrotechnics and action also watering stunts. The first five rows or so will get wet so be prepared if you sit in the soak seat areas. I would recommend this to first time visitors of the park and anyone who likes water stunts and pyrotechnics. This show is legittt! I wasn't really sure what to expect, but man, it blew me away! Get here early and you'll snag a seat in the wet zone where you'll definitely get soaked more than any show at Sea World. Otherwise, even the nose bleeds are good since there's a lot going once the show starts. The acting was a little cheesy as times, but the guys on the seadoos as well as all the fire demonstrations were both awesome and definitely impressive. This is truly full family entertainment at Universal! There are several showtimes throughout the day, and you can get the pass where you go in your own special line or just wait in line...we came about 20-25 minutes before and waited and all was good. Seating is in the bleachers. If your seat is painted a color you will get wet. Before the show the actors come out and if you are in the splash zone then they grab buckets and just throw them on you...so consider yourself notified! The show is about 20 minutes of fire, jet skis, boats, fist fights, waterskiing, people falling off high areas into the water, and a crashing plane and crashing tower. It's pretty much non-stop entertainment! The actors are relevant with the times, one of ours was in Dunkirk. They're all really good. This is a must when you go to Universal. Everyone will LOVE it... I've been to Universal a few times, and never actually watched this show. For an old film, you really don't need to know anything about it to enjoy the show. If you sit in front you will get wet! Big time. However, on a hot day, that's just what you might need. It lasts about thirty minutes so it might be a nice break from all the walking you've had to endure at the park. These shows are not even on the property. Watch the live action show of Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Located on the upper lot of Universal Studios near the main entrance, you can't miss the longest running live-stunt show in probably the entire world. With the price of admission, you'll get half, if not most of your money's worth on this show. Show is based off of the 1995 movie, Waterworld, starring Kevin Costner and Dennis Hopper. Although movie history has given this tile as one of the worst movies, the show gives you a better view and summary in person and re-writes Waterworld as one of the best live stunt shows. When you do plan to visit Universal Studios Hollywood, plan to be be in line about 20 minutes before showtime for the best seating. There are three sections in the Waterworld arena. The left section is pretty much colored in green for the soak zone. Unfortunately, the Studio Tour guide can't say here , "If you are sitting in a blue seat, there is a possibility that you may get wet." The best view is the middle section where you can view everything without major obstructions. However, all seats will make you part of the show trying to living in the floating Atoll. Now, the main part that makes the show a hit. The CAST! The cast are real, live Hollywood actors. Before passing through the turnstiles, go catch the names of the actors that are performing the stunts. These actors do the show, on average, 4-5 times a day with lots of danger. If you get a chance, get some photo-ops with the actors after the show. If you have the VIP or Front-of-Line, you'll get to talk with the actors and ask them questions about the show. Even during the pre-show, the actors have a lot of fun with the guests. You'll see when you go. Don't compare the movie with the live action show. For almost 19-20 years, this show has left a mark at Universal Studios Hollywood and its counterparts at other Universal properties. This is a must see show when you come here! I like the action stunts and pyrotechnic stuff they do. It seems a little dangerous but they are performing many times per day and everyday so it should be routine for them. Mostly based on the movie Waterworld - which did horrible in theaters- an expensive movie to make and they lost a fortune. I have been going to Universal Studios for years. We are members. But there is no show so outdated and lame than this one. It may have been great in 1994, but it isn't so great now. Why do they even have it. Half the people watching don't even remember the movie Waterworld: and if they do they remember it as a big flop. So I guess it is all about money. I remember wanting to go see this show every time I go to universal studio to this day Its still my favorite show and every time I go to universal studios I have to see it at least once or twice. I love sitting in the soak zone when it's hot. My favorite part of the show is the ending I love pyrotechnics that's my dream job ever since I was little I've always loved fireworks. Action Horizons hires really talented cast and crew for their shows. I'm hoping this show will never go away it needs to stay forever at Universal Studios. Awesome show! I loved the movie with Kevin Costner and the reenactment of the movie on-stage was awesome! My daughter and I sat in the soak zoned, middle staged, in-front of the show. The opening part is pretty hilarious. If you're sitting the soak zone, you will get sprayed on by the actors. The show went by too quickly! Action packed stunt show! Don't skip this one! But lots of boats, jet skis and guns and even a crashing plane, so don't go if your kids don't like loud noises or are too young for violence. I enjoyed this just to have a performance to watch, and it was something different compared to all the rides I was watching. It's bleacher seating. Colored bleachers (I think green?) are the zones where you will get wet. They're right in the front and easy to avoid if you want to remain dry. Loved the water stunts and the jet skis-- they were smooth riders! We weren't in the rows that got wet, which is good because at times those jet skis really drenched the crowd. Plus some of them would soak the crowd with buckets of water or sprays pre-show. Good on a really hot day at the height of summer since you could dry off fast and enjoy the cooling off, but in early November, it could get a bit chilly and breezy toward the evening. The acting of the villain was definitely cheesy, and the good guys were hokey, but it was fun, entertaining, enjoyable. There was a lot of fighting, running, people falling off the high areas into the water, crashing plane, tower, boat, jet ski chases, fire, gunfire. And it was super fun to watch the stuntman/actors up close. Those punches and kicks looked very real! The girl was badass. Because of the jet skis and boats, explosions, you do smell a lot of fumes. So if you're sensitive for any reason, beware. There are several showtimes, but we were going toward the end of the day during Halloween horror nights and there was no wait! read more

I love this show. I always sit in the soak zone. If you sit in the soak zone, you WILL get soaked. The actors make sure of it. I've seen this show so many times I can guarantee there will always be an actor or two every show who isn't performing as well as they could be. Especially when it comes to the Deacon. About 25% of the time you get a Deacon who just isn't bringing it like they should. It's still a very exciting and fun show. The Water World movie should have just been this show. They should rewrite the show just a little bit so the Helen character feels less damsel-in-destress-y. She only really beats up one bad guy. Also, I wish the cast was more diverse. I've seen several shows with no actors of color. A little over half the time they have at least one actor of color. And the only woman in the show is Helen. There should be at least one other female Smoker or good character. read more

Such a great show to watch on a hot day! Be prepared there are seats that will get you wet but there are plenty of dry seats! The queue for the show was very long and we queued up 20 minutes before the doors opened but you need to queue up early to get a good spot! The actors were amazing and there is loads of audience interaction and amazing stunts! My only concern is I watched the film cuz it was shown in my generation but the youth of today I wouldn't be sure if they know anything about the film and the short explanation at the beginning doesn't really give it justice but hey it was still a amazing show! read more

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this show! i wasn't expecting much, but it was pretty exciting! We had front of the line tickets, which include special seating in the higher levels of the area, which gives you a good view of everything. If you don't want to get wet, avoid the few front rows. Before the show started, there were a few of the actors running around and spraying people point blank with water! It was pretty crazy! My dad loved this show in this park that despite the very limited ride/show he can go on to due to his oxygen tank, My dad and I went back to Universal Studio last week specifically for this show The cast members are amazing and very friendly. After the show walking out of the stadium we found some of the cast backstage and asked if we could take a photo with them. not only they are more than willing and being friendly about it... they know how to accommodate a disabled person in a wheelchair and make them feel special. 5 STARS read more

We waited about 15 minutes for this show and it was well worth it. While everyone was coming in, the actors did a good job of hyping us up for the show. They were generous enough to thoroughly warn everyone in the soak zone that if you were in the soak zone, you would get soaked haha. They sprayed people and dumped buckets of water on them which was pretty funny! My uncle got super excited before the show even began. The stunts, acting, and dialogue made for an enjoyable 20 minutes to see what universal is really about. The stunts were easily the best part. Without spoiling, the audience feels immersed in the action and instantly became a part of the show. This was my favorite show at universal at probably a top 3 attraction for me and my crew. We watched it around 1, but i think around 6-7 close to sunset the lighting would have been prettier (personal preference for me). read more

I have to admit that I wasn't wanting to go see this show. It's so cheesy and the movie was terrible. BUT.. We were part of the VIP tour and so it was one of our last stops. The cast was actually really well versed and entertained the crowd really well. It's a nice break to be able to sit and be in the shade and cool down. The show has a lot of pyrogenic effect, so if you have children who has a breathing problem, try to sit as far as the back tier. For best view, sit in the middle.
