A murderer is afoot! Recently did the Dancing figures murder mystery scavenger hunt at the Getty Museum. I really did have a lot of fun with my team, "The Sign of the Three" running around and finding answers to questions. We got to see quite a lot of the museum, but ran out of time to get to the end part where you start breaking the code and solving the mystery. My team won the coveted prize of being the furthest from first place. We probably needed about another 15-20 minutes to finish the tasks, so we were kind of disappointed and didn't have a strong feeling of completion/accomplishment. However, two other groups solved the mystery in the time allotted. I had fun though... and would definitely do another one! read more

I did this through a virtual event with Wounded Warrior. I wondered how they could possibly do a virtual one. But we break into breakout rooms and as a group we try to solve the puzzles to get to the end. I had to leave the event before we finished. But it was so much fun and lot of yelling saying oh its this, no its this. But fun yelling. If we needed hints we were allotted I think around 3 hints or so. Not sure of the exact amount. But it was fun getting to meet other warriors, working together to figure things out. read more

Looking for a fun and new way to explore some of LA's most popular attractions? Then look no further and give Watson Adventures a try! A small group of friends decided to solve a murder mystery in competition with other random groups. Did I forget to mention that we were at the Getty!?!? As we were provided clues to follow and solve, we explored most of the different galleries at the Getty. I've never been much of a history buff but the clues basically force you to learn about the different artifacts throughout the museum by, wait for it...reading! I know right? By reading the different placards our group was able to piece together a riddle to determine "who done it". It may sound a little laborious but I found the experience to be quite fun. At the end of the "hunt", all of the teams reconvene and points are awards to determine who won. Points are given to teams based on the accuracy of the answers provided along with who we claimed was the perpetrator. Overall, this 2 hour adventure was fun and entertaining. Parking is not included in the price of the tickets so it's best to carpool to the Getty. I could totally see a corporate event with Watson Adventures. We booked a private scavenger hunt with Watson Adventures for my fiancé's 32nd birthday and it was amazing! The whole process, from booking with Corin, to the day-of with Lita, was smooth, easy, and fun. Fun, fun, fun and super fun!!! We had a blast. We had no idea what to expect but we were looking for a fun team building event and this was it! The questions were fun and challenging. Got an opportunity to see quite a few sights from downtown that we literally pass up everyday. We had fun working together and also competing against our co-workers. I was at the Getty this past weekend organized by Watson Adventures to take part in solving a "Murder Mystery". Each team of up to 6 people were given a set of directions, and searched the museum for clues to determine who the killer is within 2 hours. The directions were very cryptic, but were well thought out. We navigated around the whole museum, using structured waypoints given in the directions such that each team became evenly spaced out and did not overlap. Very well organized. Even though we didn't figure out who the murderer was, it was definitely a fun way to spend a day at the museum for sure! read more

The organiser was great, fun and friendly, and the concept of the whole thing is great! Clues are really good too, cryptic and often funny. Pros Fun way of seeing and interacting with the museum allowing you to experience it differently had you gone there/have been there purely to see the exhibits. Fun way to spend a few hours doing something different and avoid watching endless hours of "Good morning America" whilst deciding how else to spend a saturday. Cons Thought it too overpriced for what it was Being as the group I was with was the last to set off, we got much less time than the other groups. This review is in regards to a private corporate event. We were not thrilled with this experience. We hold 15-20 events per year and have done several group scavenger hunts. This is the only hunt we've received negative feedback from our attendees on. I booked the murder mystery downtown LA scavenger hunt for 12 people. When our group met up with our hunt leader, they were given written instructions for each team (we put the teams together) and sent on their way. Along with my counterpart, I waited for the groups at the finish line (a restaurant booked by us). When the groups arrived, they were penalized for lateness as well as not answering certain questions. Unfortunately, we discovered that SEVERAL of the landmarks/buildings (required to answer the questions) were either permanently closed, closed for the day or under construction, so none of the teams could have gotten everything. Watson claims they send researchers out before a hunt to make sure everything is accessible, so obviously that didn't happen. The attendees also said the questions were too difficult and took some of the fun away. It is very important to us that our company is represented well through our events and, unfortunately, that didn't happen here. Interestingly enough, the sales rep contacted me to find out how the event went and I told her everything I said here...and received no response. Comically, I got automatic notification that the balance had been charged to my credit card within an hour of sending the email. I definitely would not recommend this company for private events. We will be using a different company next year. read more

I did the murder mystery at the Getty. Didn't know what to expect. I recently did an escape room where you need to figure out a lot of combos for locks, so thought it was be similar. This was a bit different, and well thought out for the Getty layout. I arrived with a group of six total. Be sure to come early since you do need to take a tram up to the Getty. We had a brief 10 min intro, went over the rules, each got a list of the backstory/questions, and one answer sheet per team. Don't want to give away too much, but basically there is a brief background to understand. Then each team is off to answer questions that will help you determine the murder mystery. Each question will direct you to one part of the Getty and be kind of like a riddle about one specific art piece. Don't worry if you don't know anything about art (I know nothing). You are given two hours, for my team timing was not an issue. We tried to move along quickly, but never felt rushed. Got to stop for a bit and enjoy the nice sunset view of LA! It was a fun, active activity. Great for team-building. The winning team gets a surprise prize! read more

Lita was a joy, the questions were actually harder than we expected, but it was a really great day and we had a wonderful time. The cherry on top is that we totally won and wore our medals all around Chinatown afterwards with pride. Still really like this company and will probably do more in the future. I just did the Huntington Library hunt a few weekends ago. Was fun (as expected with Watson) but I'd recommend updating some clues. The first hunt I did at The Getty had some questions that could have 2 answers, but at this one, there was only one right, exact answer...which should usually be the case, unless the clue isn't specific enough. There were about 3 clues on this hunt that weren't specific enough (i.e. what are they in between?--we put curtain and the answer was columns--BOTH should be right since the painting shows the individuals between a curtain and columns.) Just a bit of an update on the clues and making sure the representatives are aware and know the hunt well. read more

Great activity for Corporate Team Building. We did our hunt at LACMA for a group of 17. We broke into three groups and had a ton of fun, learned a little, and spent a lot of time bonding as teams. The hunt questions were clever and entertaining. Our guide, Joshua, was helpful and friendly. The overall experiences with Watson Adventures was professional and easy to work with. I would recommend them. Tried this out for the first time and did the Sherlock Holmes at the Getty hunt. It was awesome!!! Normally, art does not interest me but the hunt made art fun. The clues were clever and tricky and get you to really examine artwork in detail and learn about the pieces. The hosts are energetic and engaging and of course, The Getty is a beautiful museum to explore. I loved it and would definitely want to try one of their other hunts. read more

Had such a fun time exploring the haunted parts of Hollywood in the "Haunted Hollywood Hunt." Enjoyed figuring out the clues and walking to different spots. This was such a fun unique activity to do! We did a trivia scavenger hunt through Hollywood and we had a blast! I've been in LA for ten years and I always avoided the walk of fame thinking it was too crowded with nothing to do. There was so much history and fascinating things I've never seen before. We met another couple as we looked for Lita and her husband and decided to join together and do the scavenger hunt as a team. The clues are creative and playful. We had a blast with Watson Adventures on the downtown LA scavenger hunt. My department of about 30 people participated as a retreat activity. It was great for those visiting from other offices to get to know the area, but not too obvious for locals either. The clues are tough!
