What a hot mess of an organization. We spent nearly 1500.00 on a new sofa...all good except Wayfair doesn't tell you but their "touted" free delivery is having a Fed Ex truck dump the boxes in your front yard a day before they are to be delivered...and with zero notification to the owner they are being delivered. The customer service person at Wayfair in Wilmette explained that was their normal.procedure. Wayfair also does not alert the customer of this delivery "approach" when in the sales discussion process. They offer "free " delivery and set up for an extra charge. Failing to say your furniture will sit in your front yard [with no delivery notification]. They such and not worth our future business. Douglas K. My wife spoke with their customer service line as I did a Yelp review...Minnie was more effective at getting an appropriate response [a 15% credit applied to our purchase]. The funny part is - I was ten minutes late for a business lunch as i was dealing with this delivery issue....and when I got there I explained why I was late to my two dining partners. One exclaimed - "I had the same thing happen! Wayfairs delivery folks dumped five boxes in my front yard....I opened them and two pieces were wrong....Wayfair said "keep them" and replaced them with two more pieces that were also wrong"......so I had three good pieces and four mismatched...." My other dining partner offered - "my wife is a residential interior designer and she used to use Wayfair, but they couldn't coordinate delivery times, got orders wrong etc" so she went elsewhere". The waitress where we were dining [Acanto] overheard our discussion and chimed in she "had an experience where Wayfair dumped a delivery in front of her apartment - on the sidewalk.... ". We could have done a Wayfair service survey at a very full Acanto restaurant and probably had fodder for a good "Seinfeld" episode. read more

We've spent tens of thousands of dollars with Wayfair this year alone -- furnishing multiple rooms and outdoor spaces. You'd think that level of loyalty would count for something. Apparently, it doesn't. Our latest purchase was a BBQ grill that required assembly. We requested assembly through Wayfair, and they assigned one person for two hours via Angi -- even though the manufacturer's instructions clearly state that two people are needed for four hours. It was never going to work. To make matters worse, we later found the exact same grill elsewhere for a lower price including assembly. Naturally, we decided to return the Wayfair unit. Wayfair's response? A $200 return fee -- for an unopened item -- and zero flexibility despite our extensive purchase history. We reached out to our sales representative, hoping that our ongoing relationship and significant spend would count for something. It didn't. We were met with canned policies instead of customer service. At this point, it's hard to justify continuing to buy from a company that treats high-value customers like disposable order numbers. We'll be taking our business elsewhere -- to retailers who value loyalty and stand behind their products and their customers. read more

I ordered a sectional in May. Was told it would be here 7-10 days. After it had been 2 weeks I reached out and they said that sometimes it can take longer. So I waited til the end of June and still have yet to receive it. Was told that it was delayed at the Los Angeles customs and was not cleared. Was told that they would resend it and yet again it's stuck at Los Angeles customs again. Quite disappointed that a popular website would suck at delivering. Why would my order be sent from Australia and not the USA??? Makes no sense cuz the website says delivery is sent from multiple locations in the US. read more

I purchased a couch last June online. We assembled it and began using it. One adult has been sitting on it daily. It has not been abused in any way, yet it is collapsing like a sinkhole in the middle of the couch between the first and middle cushion. I requested either a replacement, refund or store credit for the amount I paid. Wayfair pretends they will help you resolve problems you have with their merchandise. Unfortunately, their customer service isn't really service. They wanted pictures. I sent them. They responded that it looked like the frame was giving way and that isn't something they would cover, but to be nice, they would give me 10% off my next order. No thanks. I was curious about Wayfair's first large-format store in the former Carson's building at Edens Plaza in Wilmette. It's a two-story building at over 150,000 square feet and has it all -- furniture, housewares, home improvement, decor, pet furniture, a restaurant -- The Porch. I have ordered from Wayfair to furnish an apartment and had a generally positive experience. I was curious to see the first large-format store. It reminds me of IKEA, although IKEA definitely is bigger and has more parking. I did notice that as soon as I entered it smelled absolutely lovely. Don't know what the scent was but it was really nice - light and floral? The Porch was fairly full and had a line of people waiting to be seated. In my opinion you can't call it the porch when it's really more of a ... patio and restaurant. It looked bright and fresh. I went upstairs where they had the home improvement section and bathroom fixtures, cute pet stuff, beds. Downstairs with the housewares and the living room setups seemed kind of cramped. Basically if you are in the market for this type of furniture, it's nice to get to see it in person. Prices seemed reasonable. It seemed like everyone was there to check things out because I didn't see anyone buying anything. It's been quite a while since I saw Edens Plaza that full of cars. My Missus and I were there for the Grand Opening, and it was a challenge to maneuver our purple shopping cart through the crowded aisles. Considering this is Wayfair's very first store, though, my review is based more on first impressions than the shopping experience (I have reviewed The Porch, their in-store café, separately). On first glance, the store (which occupies the long-vacated shell of the late, lamented Carson Pirie Scott department store) reminded me of IKEA. However, IKEA's merchandise is aimed at budget-conscious shoppers (dormitories, starter homes, assemble-it-yourself, etc.). By comparison, Wayfair's merchandise is value-oriented but somewhat more upscale, luxurious, and - yes - pricier. It's a 'big box' store but not a warehouse store. It's not the sort of place where you would find everyday needs, but for a refurnishing or redecorating project - or just to browse - it's definitely a go-to. The two purple-accented floors connected through a dramatic skylit atrium are very attractive, the duo of elevators can accommodate multiple shopping carts, and the main aisles are generously wide. The café is a wonderful meeting place, and the restrooms (on both floors) are among the finest I've seen anywhere. Unlike the infuriatingly nonexistent 'customer service' at far too many of today's retail chains, eager and helpful sales associates are stationed throughout the store. But, inquiring about the store's return policy, we had to ask three different associates before we got an answer (30 days, return counter in the store). Oh well, I'm sure they'll learn stuff like this quickly. What a treat to see a previously online-only retailer establish a full-fledged brick-and-mortar store! read more

I went to the Wayfair store at the end of May 2026. I was in the market for a floor lamp, an ergonomic office chair, new bed sleeping pillows and a 30" bathroom sink with vanity. I found ALL these items at a very reasonable price point. There is ample parking and it is FREE. It was EZ to find the store and EZ to navigate to the store from my home base. The prices are good, and the quality is also good. Some items were a bit higher priced; however, the majority of items I viewed were affordable, and within my budget/price point. I don't normally write reviews for stores since I rarely go to a brick-and-mortar store for shopping. However, I was impressed with the customer service I received, the prices and the size of the store, coupled with a wide variety of home items. There is a 2nd level at the store. IF you are an individual who cannot physically walk up stairs you can take elevator. The bathroom vanity was shipped to my home, and it was already fully assembled. I hired my cousin to install the vanity and paid him instead. Plus, I save a bit of money having him install the bathroom vanity. Wayfair also offers installation (for a fee). My cousin stated it was "very easy" to install. read more

Bumping this down to 3 stars, because I've been here three times now and every time I end up feeling sick from something literally in the air here. The store is cute, but it has a weird smell that makes me nauseous and/or gives me a brutal headache and makes my eyes burn. The first time I went here I got nauseous after about 20 minutes and thought it was just coincidental (I didn't notice a smell). I just thought it was the heat of summer. The second time I went here I was here for about an hour and after 45 minutes I got a headache and lightheaded and my eyes hurt, which I thought was weird, but didn't think anything of it. I thought that I was just tired. Today I went in there and within 10 minutes my eyes were burning and I was getting a headache. Today, for the first time, I noticed a very overpowering smell -- some sort of very florally soapy smell. It doesn't smell like fragrance from candles or anything, and it was more overpowering in random sections of the store (ones that don't have displays with fragranced things, like the appliance section and the lighting section). I was there 2 hours after the store opened, so if it was something from the cleaning crew it should have dissipated, and the other times I went it was even later in the day, so it couldn't have been that. It's also definitely not a perfume from a customer or anything because it was literally in all four corners of the store on both floors. I left after about 20 minutes after stopping by to look specifically at what I came to see. Sadly I had to forgo browsing around for fun because I couldn't take it. I don't know what it is, but I won't be able to go back here (at least not without wearing a mask...maybe that would help). It took me an hour of being back at home before my headache started to go away, and my eyes still are burning. I'm not at all sensitive to smells -- I can walk into an Abercrombie or Hollister or spend an hour at Bath and Body Works and not be affected at all, and the strong antiseptic smell of a hospital doesn't impact me physically at all. I had also been at Chalet across the street earlier with all their candles and plants and scented items and was totally fine. But whatever Wayfair is pumping through this store is brutal and nearly knocked me out almost instantly. This is kind of a weird review to leave, but I wanted to mention it in case anyone else experiences the same thing so they don't think that they're crazy, and/or so anyone who is sensitive to smells is prepared. read more

Never Never Never again! Never! If you are in the remodeling business or a contractor needing materials for a remodel, AVOID using Wayfair. You can't fathom the stress and difficulty you'll be avoiding. Vanity ordered was shipped on the 9th, sitting in a warehouse in my area, can't get it until the 20th. Won't allow for a pick-up and wouldn't lift a finger to get it here sooner. Try cancelling so I can just run to Home Depot and buy a stock cabinet (not a big fan of Depot, either) and this will cost you more to restock an item I've never even received (according to the useless customer service supervisor). Mirror arrived cracked. Replacement arrived cracked. Went and had my own glass cut to get this unit finished. Cost me as much as the mirror, but at least something in the unit is checked off the lost. Customer service is a number that you can call so they can tell you sorry, nothing we can do for you. If you don't have a timeline and you are good with ordering multiple replacements in hopes that maybe you'll receive something undamaged and eventually have the pieces you need to complete your remodel, maybe Wayfair is OK for you. But if you have contractors, timelines, need materials to arrive in a timely manner and in good condition, my advice is to seek other options. Even if it costs a few more bucks, it's completely worth it! Never again Wayfair. You and I are done! read more

BEWARE OF BUYING FROM WAYFAIR!!!! I have had nothing but problems with Wayfair for nearly a month. What began as a simple problem never got solved. Here's a brief summary: 1. Ordered two chairs & a table for my patio. One of the chairs was defective so I asked for a replacement. After many days of no response, I finally heard from one of the reps who said they would send me a replacement. When I asked if they could cover the cost of labor, they said no--that would be my cost--even though it was a defective chair. 2. Instead of sending me one chair to replace the defective chair, they sent me two chairs--which I had not asked for. 3. Again, after many phone calls back and forth, I explained to many reps that I had not asked for two chairs. They stated that I would be charged for both chairs, instead of sending me a free replacement, which is what I had requested in the first place. 4. They said, I needed to do the arranging for a pick up, not them. 5. After further calls, they finally agreed to do the arranging, however that would be a whole day of me waiting for UPS. I would have had to cancel any appts that would take me outside my condo. 6. The only option left to me was for me to find someone with a large vehicle to transport the two chairs (which I did not order) to a FEDEX location myself. Which is what I ultimately did. All this took numerous phone calls, emails and a car trip to FEDEX. I still have not gotten credit for the defective chair from Wayfair. Bottom line: Bad communication, no attempt to compensate me for THEIR mistakes, and lots of phone calls and time on my part. I told them I would never buy ANYTHING from Wayfair again, to which I got a stock email, thanking me for shopping with Wayfair. read more

Terrible experience with both Wayfair and Chase Bank. I bought an outdoor sectional from Wayfair for an event, and it arrived late--making it useless for its intended purpose. The quality was awful: missing parts, misshapen cushions, and unstable seating. I requested a return and was promised a manager callback that never happened. Instead, they offered a small discount, which didn't solve the problem. After weeks of no resolution, I disputed the charge with Chase. Wayfair sent missing parts even though I clearly wanted to return the item, and Chase closed the dispute just because parts were sent. That made no sense. I reopened the dispute, provided documentation, and still Chase eventually closed it again--leaving me stuck with a $1,300 charge for furniture I hate and never wanted. To start sales person did not tell us options for delivery. I told him I wanted it delivered to the house and assembled. It is now being delivered via FedEx and being left outside the door 100 pound item wood that I cannot drag in myself so it can be left out in the rain. It also has been delayed three times Via FedEx. No one can seem to tell me what the problem is or when it's going to be delivered, haven't even received the item yet and I will never do business with Wayfair again. I was super excited to go to Wayfair because we have ordered a couple of pieces online and were happy with what we received. It's really rare nowadays to find a brick and mortar store that's still in business so the fact that this place was brand spanking new and huge really intrigued me. When we arrived, it was definitely packed!!! Cars were everywhere and I thought it would be dang near impossible to find parking. However, thankful to the heavens because we found a spot! AND! It was right near the entrance!!! As we were walking in, you are greeted by this life size playable chess board and Wayfair's own restaurant, The Porch. There was seating both inside and outside. The line was extensive and I wasn't particularly hungry so we just kept walking. We had a list of what we wanted to get so it was time to hunt. Now, this place was massive! Judging from the exterior I thought it would be as big as IKEA (...it was not) but it still doesn't take away the feelings of overwhelmingness I felt. A kind employee was greeting people and handing out catalogues as you walked in. The walls were adorned and decorated with bigger than life bath towels, kitchen supplies and everything you could think of if you needed something for your house. It was evident that these decorations were meant to say...WE HAVE EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING YOU NEED FOR YOUR HOME. TAKE A GANDER! On top of that, it was an open floor plan and there was a lot of purple Wayfair signs with bags and carts ready to be used. They decorate by sections, so the first floor had home office, living room, bed room decor and organizational supplies. There were even sections where you could meet with a consultant, I think by appointment only, to plan the room(s) of your dreams. The second floor had a similar set up but with bathroom, kitchen and like patio/outside decor. Also, they had a cute and pretty extensive pet area too. They also had working testers for kitchen sinks and showers which I found really unique. It was pretty obvious that the room set ups were meant to "inspire" and give you a little boost of creativity for your own home which was cool. I found the pricing to be kinda weird because while my bf and I did get a couple of things, where they were on the shelves didn't match the price tags that were below them which was a bit frustrating. The nice thing is that each price tag came with a QR code so you could either find the price yourself by using your phone or have an employee help you and there were so many of them around, it was easier to ask for help. As far as the quality of the items go, I mean it's not bad and it depend depends on what you're willing to spend and the amount of research you put into what are willing to get. Will the items I got today move onto becoming family heirlooms worth millions one day? Probably not. Will they help to make my home as comfy, livable and enjoyable for myself and those that I love? Probably. So, in the end that's all that matters to me. Customer service was great, prices were decent , place was well lit and I had a fun time. Would I come back? Probably. My only suggestion is that if you come here, come with a game plan of what you need or want to look at because as massive as this place is, you can move through it pretty quickly and with the amount of people that are here, it gets stuffy and hot fast. read more

I was intrigued to see what this store had to offer, since it was the first. It immediately reminded me of Ikea, but smaller, and much more purple. It is large and organized. The appliance, lamp and faucet selections were extensive. They also had a nice selection of kitchen items, dishes and home furnishings. I Loved the selection of pet products, especially the beds. You can order on line while in the store for pick up or delivery. Since the store is new it is bright and clean. They do have a restaurant and on a Saturday afternoon there was a line , so we did not try it. A good place to browse for home items. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but my experience with Wayfair has been an absolute nightmare and I feel obligated to warn others. I ordered a dresser AND paid extra for professional assembly through Wayfair. When the assembler arrived and opened the box, there were ZERO screws or hardware included. So now I'm left with 50+ wooden slabs just taking up space in my room -- completely useless. Fine, mistakes happen. But here's where it goes from frustrating to infuriating. Wayfair informed me that the replacement hardware wouldn't be delivered for three and a half weeks -- and the new assembly appointment? A month from now. I politely explained that I'm leaving the country soon and asked if there was any way they could expedite the process. Their response? "There's nothing we can do." Really? Nothing? After paying for the product and additional assembly, I'm now stuck with a pile of disassembled furniture, wasted money, wasted time, and no accountability from Wayfair whatsoever. Their customer service is useless, uncaring, and clearly not equipped to deal with problems they create. This company is a logistical disaster and shows absolutely zero concern for its paying customers once they have your money. Never again. Horrible company. My package was delivered, yet it was not delivered INSIDE my property but outside my property gate and subsequently stolen. The company insisted it was delivered, although I showed proof that the delivery photo showed it placed in the public street. The company insisted on a police reports filed within 2 weeks of my claim, yet I was leaving for Europe for 3.5 weeks, the same day Wayfair requested the police report. Obviously, I could not provide such. So, they took my money, take zero responsibility for the loss of the package ( although I am sure they are insured), took my money and could care less about their customers. Everything you could imagine and much better representation of what's on the website than I was expecting. there were plenty of people working and checking to see if you had any questions. But basically you are buying online while you're in the store. It all comes from the warehouse, free shipping. Even have major appliances which surprised me and the lamp selection is amazing. The only thing that negatively marred my trip was a woman at the "helpdesk". Absolutely the Worst Experience - Never Again This was, unfortunately, the worst experience we have ever had with an online retailer. We placed a phone order for our move, and since we wouldn't arrive at our new home for another two weeks, the support team explicitly told us that this shipment would be suitable for a FedEx Vacation Hold. Based on this information, we placed the order - which was quite expensive. Only after completing the purchase did we discover that the shipment was not eligible for a Vacation Hold at all. Customer support then promised to take care of the issue and refund us in full. We even received this agreement in writing. However, just two days later, the support team suddenly claimed to know nothing about any such arrangement. The furniture was delivered anyway and ended up sitting two weeks outside in the rain, resulting in damage that anyone can imagine. For us, one thing is clear: Never again Wayfair. read more

I ordered a rather expensive pillow. They advertised it as being 20" long. I received a much larger pillow--25.5" long. That is 25% larger than they advertise, and they refuse to let me return it! Changed manufacturer and didn't tell me The Wayfair website says the loveseat I ordered was manufactured by Steelside (a Wayfair subsidiary based in the USA with generally good reviews) and instead the product I received was manufactured by Kinwell, which also does business as Beschan. Kinwell/Beschan is unknown to me, may be in China, and hasn't responded to an email inquiry. I would like to return the product for a refund as it was not made by the advertised manufacturer, but Wayfair says shipping would be at my expense because other than the manufacturer, the product is the same as what I ordered. Here's a question for Wayfair: If the manufacturer doesn't matter, why do you show the name on your website? And why do you show the wrong name? read more

The place was spacious, cleaning, and well laid out. However, it just felt like a huge cross between At Home and Target. Prices were OK, not cheap but also not ridiculously priced. The selection is fair, but the website definitely has more options than what's in store. read more

My order of 4 kitchen chairs was delivered wrong!! That's 2 big boxes I had to get into my apartment. They refused to pick up and send out the right merchandise. Went to Wayfair to scope out some couches for both the apartment and office. Setup is like a very upscale IKEA. Laid very well and employees super nice/not pushy with sales.
