    Spicy chicken and waffles
    Laura K.

This was my first time at Wayne's. There are so many fun waffle flavors offered! Great and diverse menu. And our waitress was so nice. My boyfriend had the spicy chicken and waffles. I ordered the egg and cheese sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The food was delicious- seasoned and cooked perfectly. Will definitely be coming back!

Classic local food joint. The food is good, freshly cooked and seasoned. It was a surprise because we just pulled a random breakfast restaurant to visit. There was a steady stream of carryout orders. On top of that, a diverse bunch of customers dining in. That means this little joint is cooking right. The server was professional and attentive. The downside, the decor and flooring needs attention. It looks like it was opened on a shoe string, but hey, gotta start somewhere and the food is good. Actually, my wife says the waffles are better than a place with "I..P" in it. Now that was a big surprise 'cause my wife is stingy with food praise. Nice job.

Jalapeño, cornbread waffle was so good!

I tried a new dish here today! The food never lets me down here! That jalapeño cornbread waffle is so good in those green beans were nice and tender. I always love the spicy chicken tenders... the mac & cheese was pretty decent too but it's a small portion if you ask me . I took my mom Tuesday afternoon around 12p. It was her first time and she loved it... It was a nice crowd of people. They had movies playing like avatar & the little mermaid. The food came out about 15 to 20 minutes.

Buttermilk chicken and waffle, potatoes, beef bacon

I absolutely love love this place, I have been trying to get here for about year and I'm upset that I waited so long to finally try them out. The food was amazing the waffle had a good buttermilk flavor, the chicken nice and crispy with the perfect amount of seasoning. Nothing needed extra flavor or seasoning everything was seasoned perfectly. The inside is clean very basic but clean. I would go back check them whenever in the centerline area. Almost forgot to mention they aren't expensive at all a little below $13.50 for chicken, waffle and potatoes not bad and definitely worth the money. Service was a little slow but the server was by herself but she was so sweet.

    Flying chicken with fries

Tucked into the corner of a strip mall off Van Dyke near 10 mile, this is a striped down no frills spot that looks like a 5 but feeds you like a 10. I had the Flying Bird--absolutely fabulous--and he had the Toast plate with turkey sausage and Texas toast. Service fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean and big enough for large groups. Closes at 3 pm.

Just ordered spicy chicken wings and a waffle!!

Food was delicious!! Ignore the decor and ambiance and come have a great meal!! Waffle was fluffy and chicken was fried to perfection. Our waitress was extremely gracious and helpful. Not crowded and served quickly.

Blueberry waffle with tenders and hash browns

I stumbled across this GEM on Yelp and I figured that Mike & I would give them a try. I am sooooo happy that we did. I think we found our go to breakfast spot The food was absolutely great! My salmon was cooked to perfection. It wasn't dried out but juicy. The flavor went really well with the grits. Only thing I wish they had was shrimp. Adding that would've been a complete knock out the park. But it was great without it. The wings were good also. I definitely didn't leave any of those behind. Mike had the blueberry waffle and tenders. He was very pleased with the tenders and was so full that he could eat the entire waffle and all the tenders. His hash was pretty tasty also. The food portions are amazing! The only reason why I gave it a 4 star was because our waiter wasn't as attentive as we thought he should've been. He left out for quite some time and had to flag someone else down to get refills on our water/coffee, etc. However, it was still a great experience. The restaurant was extremely well kept and the atmosphere was awesome! Try this place out!!!!!!

Caramel apple cinnamon waffle with chicken tenders, fried potatoes, and eggs over medium
    Jennifer W.

We had a great breakfast here. I had just stumbled across it the day before on Yelp. I had the peaches and cream waffle with three tenders, and my friend had the caramel cinnamon waffle with three wings. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The potatoes were good also. Both of us loved our food and agreed we have to return soon.

From the smiling staff, to the extensive breakfast and lunch menu to their warm and inviting atmosphere everything about this place is a gem. Come hungry because this isn't a place that skimps on the portions. Pancakes, omelets, sausage and their homemade bread is delicious. The side of pancakes is a meal itself. We enjoyed it all even though we couldn't finish it. They have an equally large lunch menu with Panini's, burgers, sandwiches and wraps. There is something for everyone here. We'll be back soon!

I wanted to go some place I haven't been before and this place popped up not to far from where I'm staying. Walking in, the place is clean with plenty of seating. I was greeted immediately and told to sit anywhere I liked. Fortunately, there wasn't a wait since it was still super early. Reviewing the menu, they have a great selection of breakfast and brunch items to choose from. I read online that they have chicken and waffles, but when I asked the waitress where it was at on the menu, she said it's not listed there and is an "off menu" item that could be prepared for me. After thinking about it, I decided that I was going to get an omlet instead. I got the greek omelet instead and let me tell you, the portions are huge! Food was absolutely delicious and I ate as much as I could. Service was fantastic and I didn't feel pressured to order anything that I wasn't comfortable with. Water and coffee were always full and my bill came in a timely manner. I will be returning when I'm on this side of town for a good solid breakfast. This place should be an example of how to do things correctly without over correcting or trying to hard. I love it here!

Oak Diner - Royal Oak (Campbell Rd) Walking into Oak Diner…read morebrought back so many great memories. I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. I had to ask for extra napkins after but the mess was totally worth the flavor! I can't wait to come back! I'll be prepared with reservations next time!

She responded that she already had, but I pointed out that there were still crumbs there. She seemed irritated, so I even offered to wipe it myself if she gave me the towel. She then asked me to show her where the crumbs were and wiped them off. Unfortunately, her attitude throughout the interaction was very rude and unprofessional. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.

It's light and airy and it smells of soap -- not nasty disinfectant, but just pure, clean soap. And it smells of nicely cooked food as well, of course. The waitstaff was very friendly and welcoming, which is always nice. I ordered the senior fish & chips and the server, Jennifer, asked me if I was old enough. I offered to show her my I.D. & she said she believed me, but that I didn't look it. Needless to say, that made me feel good. (Although, not to toot my own horn, but I don't look my age.) The fish was two big, thick pieces. I actually only finished about 3/4 of one piece! It came with fries that were fine but nothing special, and I got cole slaw instead of soup. That was good as well. But, it was also served with canned green beans. Just...no. My sister got a turkey club sandwich which also came with soup or cole slaw. She enjoyed that as well. And I loved that the iced tea was served in mason jars. Such a homey little touch! The prices were very reasonable as well. In fact, I think they were less than those of a fast food place we stopped at later in the day for a carry out! Definitely worth a stop -- nothing fancy, but it's good, solid food.

Ordered veggie skillet, bagel with cream cheese instead of toast, Greek salad, feta on the side and turkey Reuben with onion ring side. $42.75 Food was out almost an hour after we arrived, must be patient for your food to come out. Their cinnamon bread for their French toast comes from MO, why not get it here locally? The first coffee mug had some black stuff on the rim. The onion ring batter looks like, but it's quite heavy and soggy. The rings also smell and taste like fish. Must use the same oil as their fried fish? Not pleasant. I think the batter for the onion rings could be the same used for their fried fish. Their turkey Reuben is so-so, it's sliced deli meat. The cheese seems like cheese sauce. Nothing special. The bread is at least nicely toasted. The Russia dressing is tasteless. The Greek is old work out iceberg lettuce. The onions are big and not good for this salad. Dressing is thick and bland. The pepperoncini don't taste so good.
