Went for drinks and a late lunch. Service was prompt. Outside seating was nice.We asked about drink specials and we ordered two blueberry lemonade cocktails. It was very watered down, and we did not complain at first. When we were half done and the waiter returned, I asked if there was supposed to be alcohol in the drink, and he said yes. He said he hasn't heard this complaint before and said that he wished we had said something sooner because he would have gone back to the bartender to have new ones made. I asked him just to bring me a Sangria, which he did, and it was also very watered down. We order the dumpling appetizers (which were good), and then a chicken sandwich (chicken was tough) and the lobster and shrimp roll (expensive and had way too much yogurt sauce). When we got the check, we were charged for the watered down drinks. We will not return. read more

We had a great experience last week meeting friends and grabbing dinner and drinks on the outdoor patio overlooking the spectacular marina! . The draft beer choices was extensive and extremely cold and refreshing and the wine selection was very good. We had several different selections off of the menu and everyone was very pleased with the quality and value of our selections. The waitresses were outstanding and the bartender was very friendly. We will definitely back and look forward to making this a regular destination when we meet friends. read more

Went for dinner on Wednesday, first time for all three of us. Waypoint is the complete package: The food, service, ambiance and view are all excellent. We had apps, entrees and dessert, all winners. What a spectacular dining experience!!! The views are amazing and the food didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a great butterfly effect (a fun mixed drink that changes colors) then when once we were seated the server quickly came over to us and took our order. I'll start with the service at the bar was less than desireable. Staff was not attentive and honestly not that pleasant. The food was average at best. I ordered the "bookmaker" which was a horrible. The first time it came out it was well done (I ordered med-rare) and a flimsy soggy single slice of bread. The second time without bread and third a poorly seasoned and cooked steak with soggy bread yet again. Server was blaming her chef yelling at her and the manager came over to question me and was not apologetic at all. I was comped one beer for waiting almost 25 additional minutes to get my original order. Safe to say I will not be coming back. Place sucks and the manager is a joke. Came here with my coworkers for a nice lunch out. When we were seated we were asked if a table in the sun was ok. We did say yes until we realized a person in our party could not sit in the sun due to medical issues.. We asked the busboy if we could move, he said probably not, and then came back and said no. We asked the waitress if we could move someplace in her station. That was not addressed at all. We asked if we could move to a high top in the shade, never got an answer. Finally the table next to us that had an umbrella left and saw our distress and said to us just move to our table which we did ourselves. The apps came out before we even got our drinks. The food was ok, but the server was not happy with us. Water was never refilled. After spending over $200 on lunch including the tip when we were walking out the hostess never acknowledged us, just looked the other way. If this is the way a restaurant treats their customers, I can say that I will never go back. read more

This place is awful. If you liked the old Union Landing you are going to be extremely disappointed. The whole climate of the place has changed from a great hidden local hangout where you could listen to great bands, eat great simple food and not be hassled when you have to move a chair over from another table to accommodate late arriving friends. Waypoint 622 is now a meat market for former cast members of the show "botched" (the Dr that fixes botched plastic surgeries). My wife and I went there on a Thursday night to listen to our favorite band and before we knew it there was more twerking going on than at a Miley Cyrus concert. Seeing 50+ year olds twerk is not a vision easily erased. Add to the equation that the corrugated steel roof with the rusted nails coming through and the industrial lights makes you feel like you're eating at Lowes. They've ruined a great local spot and put this atrocity there. Thank God the view is marvelous otherwise this gets zero stars. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this Union Landing bar change in ownership and major upgrade! With new tall columns, they raised the roof figuratively and literally in this bar! The single elevated level makes the view better all around and that isn't the only upgrade. You no longer have to hunt and poach for a table- a civilized wait list is at the door with a buzzer that alerts when your table is ready, the menu is more elegant with seafood and special wraps and the overall feeling is more welcoming and fun. The crowd is neither too young or too "jersey". This may be our new go to for summer 2015. read more

Go here for the drinks and the ambiance. Great view at the new bar and patio. If you are looking for a snack, the fried calamari was one of the better I've had in the area and the watermelon salad was tasty. What an improvement from the old UL. Its cleaned up and has atmosphere. The crab cakes are the best I have had, our bacon appy was amazing! Wait staff was upbeat and helpful. The wedge salad was large and super crisp. This is going to be my go to place all year long. Menu is interesting enough for a special occasion, or just a quick go to on the deck. Larry- please revamp your menu. Your restaurant is on the water and 6 out of 10 entrees are non-seafood. The experience: The Alaskan cod and orzo was flavorless and bland. The carrots were too hard (literally) to cut and the rolls were stale. At 7:20 PM, there was only one Alaskan cod special available. The restaurant has lost it's attention to quality and service. I want to go to Waypoint, but I can't. Please, please, please return to the terrific restaurant you once were. read more

This place has a wonderful view if you like looking at a bridges on both sides. Sat inside and server was very attentive, though we never got a bread basket and had to ask..... Food was horrible, I normally would not say that but it is true. It feels like you come for the view and pay the the nose for bad food. Seems like a rampant issue with "these summer" restaurants. Shark bites were anemic lookin dried out and tasteless, bang bang shrimp seemed frozen with sweet and sour sauce poured on. We were starving so I ordered the tuna sashimi stack-what a joke, some raw tuna and cucumbers, that was it. Scallops looked like a blue plate special from the 80's. VERY expensive and NOT worth it. My recommendation, eat before and sit out on the patio for your $13.00 glass of Pinot Noir!! read more

I have been going to Union Landing for years and decided to try the new place. If you go with the right mindset, you wont be disappointed! This a waterfront bar on the Manasquan people, not Peter Luger's. The food is good and better than the old UL fare but don't expect miracles. I am a builder and was very impressed by the renovation they have done. The bar space is so much better and really serves the patrons a lot better. If you want to avoid hassles or long waits, go on off times (late lunch, early dinner). They have expanded the seating to the side area of the restaurant too which was smart. Went here today. Even though I read the other reviews, I tried to keep an open mind. But I have to agree with the other yelpers. Very limited menu. Service is not that great. Food is average at best. Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. It was nothing special. Also ordered the "scooby"was told it was a crab dip. It was crab with shells that was floating in butter, how is that a dip?? I have no plans on returning too many other places to go to. We left and went next door to the sand bar they have a happy hour and better food. read more

Sorry to say the food was nothing to rave about. Prices are high most likely paying for the real estate. This is a beautiful view great for drinks music and maybe a appetizer outside at the bar but not for dinner. My friend had chicken Caesar salad it was extremely plain chicken and dry. I had a Caesar side with my entrée and it was watery lettuce with no dressing. Entree linguini with clams was good but small nothing exciting for $19 really could've put a little more on the plate. Will have drinks there and go to dinner elsewhere next time; as this was our 2nd time there and had same dining experience. The bar outside is the best feature great view drinks are pricey but good and the view and bands make the whole place. read more

Went today around 1pm for lunch with 3 kids under the age of 5 and my wife. We were greeted by the nicest hostess. The renovation looks great and the view can't get much better. Our waitress came right over to take our table for our drink order and was extremely friendly. What a beautiful setting overlooking the marina. There were 8 in our party tonight. Most of us got salads. Chicken (over salad) was a little tough but the presentation was beautiful. Funny they do not have "honey mustard salad dressing". They kept brining out what the bottle said was honey mustard & it was ranch. One person got the skirt steak which was delicious & tender. The service was fantastic! Greg was our waiter he he gets 5 Stars!! So personable and always stopping by to see what we needed. So if you stop in do yourself a favor & request Greg! Is it possible to give less than one star? Would like to rename this place NO POINT. Do not come here for dinner. Staff has no idea what they are doing. Drinks take about 45 mins and they will not be what you ordered. Dinner you're lucky if it is served in under two hours. Everything was disgusting. There were chopped up hotdogs on top of our clams. Not sure if they were trying to pass those off as something else. Also, expect an eye roll if you ask the manager for an assistance. She barked back at me like a teenager when I explained to her that we were sitting for over an hour without a drink. Please keep in mind that I am writing this review before high season. 1 star for the new deck but nothing else. I went to the bar last week to eat and drink. The food was fair with limited menu. There were only 20 menus to choose from. I sat at the bar with a buddy of mine and had a few drinks and bacon app. Pieces of bacon as app? It was so oily that the plate was filled with oil when I finished. 6 drinks and 1 app came out to $90 and didn't even bother giving me an itemized receipt. I didn't even know if I paid MY bill. Had a hard time grabbing bartender's attention every time I needed her. Sucks to have 1 bartender on at dinner time for 50 persons bar. Everything was still in the works in settling down but having chairs and tables stacked on one side of the deck was ridiculous. No one bothered helping me to get an extra chair. I ended up going to Sand Bar to eat a meal. I might come back to try it out when they are ready. read more

I was at Waypoint on Friday night 8/31 with a couple of girl friends at the peak of business, it was quite busy but was still able to get a drink at the bar without a huge wait. We decided to eat at the bar inside and Karen, who was behind the bar that night was great. The clams with chorizo was beyond! I'm a bit of a snob when it comes too food being that I live in NYC, but not only was my food delicious, so were my friends plates, in particular the tuna tartar. My hats off to the owner and staff for making this place all come together in such a short period of time. The view and staff were lovely. Can't wait to go back. read more

Okay first off the remodel is nicely done made the outside dining very nice. Drink prices way over the top and speaking of tops. We asked for another round and I still had a half glass of wine so he pours in more wine into my plastic cup. I basically paid 8 bucks for a half glass of wine. The dinner menu was very limited. This is the shore so why not a seafood menu. I had the gluten free menu and got the crab cakes omg !! It was all crab a nice medley of vegetables and rice pilaf. My friend got ahi tuna very good. That was the special. The meal came with a salad. It was a bit pricey for what you got and really not sure I will go back due to the high prices for what you get. The outside looked great to sit and have dinner but it was tad too cold for us. It looks like a great happy hour place as they have big TV's for watching games. We're locals, and usually eat outside at the patio bar. Last night we were inside with another couple. The food was fine, even though they were missing a bunch of items as they were near closing for the season. The issue was the wine. When we asked to see a wine list, we were told the manager would come over, as they were running low on everything. He produced 3 bottles the cabinet near our table. No prices were mentioned. The one my wife liked was the 'medium priced' bottle. They say OK, and proceed to drink the entire bottle. No issue, very good wine. When it's time to pay, we split the bill. The wine was $195. Not what we expected, but shame on us for not asking. We were thinking $85-$100. we asked the manager for the prices of the other 2 bottles, the 'cheap' one was $145, and the most expensive $225+. We suggested that in the future he give a price range, since the only bottles he had left were very expensive bottles. He got very defensive, rude, and told us he sells these bottles everyday and you never asked for the price, so... He took $25 off the bill and slinked away.
