The only good thing here is the view. Food and service is terrible. Waited by the hostess stand to be seated. Hostess was No where to be found. Bartender looked at us several times but did not acknowledge us. Had to ask her if we could be seated. Waited 10 minutes for our waitress. Waited another 10 for our drinks and she forgot one. Food was horrible. Fish tacos were dried out salmon pieces. Gross. Shame because the location is so nice. read more

AVOID this place if anybody in your family has a food allergy. Actually after the experience my family had there I would NOT RECOMMEND this place at all.. Called the restaurant,before making a reservation, and asked if they can accommodate a food allergy. My son who is only 10 has a severe nut allergy. The person on the phone stayed that they could accommodate the allergy and that there should not be any issues. This is the normal routine we do every time we go out to avoid any issues. So we made the reservation for our entire family (11) people. However, when we arrived we told the server about the allergy and she said that she would check with the cook, (I am referring to the kitchen staff as a cook because the title chef is reserved for professionals which she was not, keep reading you'll understand). After the server telling us what we should avoid, our orders were taken and drinks were served. Then the server comes over with the cook who basically tells us that she is not going to cook for my son because she doesn't want the liability. We know that there are no guarantees and all we asked is that they make something for him using caution while preparing the meal and again she outright refused. So we packed up and walked out. I had to give this place one star to leave a review. If they had the option it would be in the negative star category. The server was great and we appreciate when they go above and beyond to ensure,as best they can, that my son is having a nut free meal and we always show the appropriate appreciation for that. Beautiful setting, fairly good food,WAY, WAY OVERPRICED!!! My wife and I met a friend there, had a total of 5 drinks (2 were domestic beers, 3 mixed drinks) and shared 3 APPETIZERS (three). The bill comes....$111.00, that's right ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN DOLLARS!! Automatically assumed it was the wrong bill, called the waitress over and she reviewed it....right bill, wrong restaurant. This was a great experience and a great atmosphere for family. Went this past weekend around 6, the outside hostesses were so friendly and went and saw the boats. When we sat down our server Devon came over. She was so sweet and one of the best server I've ever had. She was super nice to the boys and gave them kids up with swirly straws which really made them happy. I had the fire cracker shrimp and it was fantastic! Bravo to the chefs! When you go sit outside and ask for Devon to be your server I definitely will be making that request next time we come! read more

I have frequented Waypoint for the past 6 weeks. The restaurant was very busy upon immediate opening. The service & food has improved each week with a more experienced staff to handle the demands. Last night I had the cold cucumber melon soup which was amazing. I also shared the crab cake and lobster mac & cheese both were also amazing. We were a party of 12. The waitress did an excellent job with the table, the food was excellent & came out in a timely manner. I absolutely love the back deck & overall atmosphere. We just had a delicious wonderful dinner! All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our waitress Josset was knowledgable, friendly and recommended her favorites when asked! All the staff that that we encountered during our dining experience was great including the young man in the parking lot when we arrived! The crab cakes were out of this world along with the scallops, steak sandwich and dessert! They even made a delicious mango martini that we asked about that was not on the drink menu! We were celebrating my daughters 21st birthday and they brought out her dessert with a candle! CHECK YOUR BILL! I lived local for 35 years and this is no longer run like the previous Union Landing. I go there frequently because I can come by boat. 2 times this year I have had my bill altered at the (bar) cash register upon paying. The first time my wife had 3 house wines and I had checked the bill as I called the bartender to pay. The drinks were $9. When I got the bill she had changed it to $14 each and said they were Santa Margarita. They were not, she poured right in front of us!. We surmised she was upset that we asked for a more proper (plastic) cup than we were given and she showed her displeasure at the request. Called the Manager over and he reluctantly agreed to remove one drink. Very embarrassing. Second time I asked for a Makers Mark and found out at check out I was being charged $21 because he said they were out of Makers and gave me a premium, but forgot to tell me. Another embarrassing moment. Since then I've heard this is quite a common practice there. Who ever now owns this place is no local. Besides service there is the worst and rudest. read more

The only thing worse than the food is the music. This place has to be the worse place I've been to in the last 10 years. I haven't mentioned the clientele - very low class. I wanted to love this place - with the lovely views and renovations - but we won't be back. The food was good, not great, but the service was abysmal. For the high prices, we expected high-end service and attention. We got neither. We had three different servers who didn't coordinate with one another and left us waiting so long we had to get up and bring the check to them. They honestly must be training because one of them brought a steak knife and put it upside down next to the plate with the blade pointing toward the patron. A different server came to clear plates and asked, "Was this your appetizer or entree?" Wow. Too many little things to mention like completely forgetting a special drink request, reaching across people to serve and pour. It was not busy at all on a Sunday night but the multiple staff would disappear for chunks of time. Very poor training and disorganized, choppy service. read more

I had lunch here today with a party of nine. Giving three stars because the food was good, albeit somewhat pricey. Several ordered a lunch special of Mahi Mahi wrap...it didn't occur to us to ask the price ($17). I had a watermelon and spinach salad, which was very good. However, the service was incredibly slow, even though for our second hour there we were about the only ones in the indoor area. The server never really checked on us. Even coffee took forever. I just want to start off by saying the food was very good! The best part about this place is the venue. However, the management, hostesses, and organization was AWFUL. Upon arriving at 7:50 for my 8 o'clock reservation, I was told that the reservations were only for inside. This was NEVER mentioned to me beforehand and is highly unprofessional. We decided to wait for the "20 minutes" and got seated at 8:30. My father was given a different menu from the rest of us. This wasn't really an issue until he ordered an appetizer we were all excited about, only to be told that wasn't on the new menu. Why would they give us a menu with items no longer available, the world will never know. Next, we ordered sushi. About 15 minutes later we were informed that they didn't have sushi after all. Upon ordering our meals, 2 of us ordered the special for that evening. After already eating our appetizers and waiting for our main course to arrive, we were informed they didn't have the special anymore. They could not even accommodate that to replace the fish in that item. To end this amazing experience, we went to get our car from the valet, only to find the valet had magically disappeared. After roaming aimlessly trying to find the keys to OUR vehicle, we finally came across them and were able to escape this establishment. read more

I ordered tequila and club and they charged me for Jose Cuervo 1800, which would have been fine if that was what I received. Whatever they gave me was the most disgusting mixture I have ever had. This was not even drinkable and I had to pay for a new drink. Next I ordered a club soda for my friend that was a DD and was charged about $3.00 for that. Last night, instead of seating my party of 2, after we had waited for 2 hours for a table, they sat other parties of 2 ahead of us who did not have reservations. Providing good service to a selective few is not providing good service. Our reservation meant nothing. When a restaurant doesn't honor reservations, they should not take them in the first place. Waypoint's bad reputation stems from its bad service. Unless the hostess, management, etc. know you, they don't care about you. Do yourself a favor and go to Shipwreck instead. read more

For only being open for a few weeks, growing pains are expected. My experience was above average for such a new restaurant and new team. The calamari was some of the best I've had and the grouper sandwich was phenomenal. Service was slow at times but like I said, that's expected with such a new team and our server was very apologetic and the owner even came up to introduce himself and apologize for the wait. We visited Waypoint 622 on a weeknight before Memorial Day weekend. The outside bar area was still under construction, but the inside was beautiful. I loved the changes which have been made to the structure. We dined at an indoor table by a window. There were several appealing options on the menu, and once we were told the specials, it was even harder to choose. Our extremely friendly server, Karen, (who is actually a bartender there) made a great recommendation. The food was excellent. The head chef came to meet us, and we saw him greet other tables as well. Our mixed drinks were delicious. I ended up trying a couple different ones, because they came highly recommended. We hadn't planned on ordering dessert, but because it was our anniversary, we were given a complimentary dessert, so we ordered one more, which was also fantastic. I had expected our bill to be enormous, but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Our dinner experience was excellent, and I hope to return. A few days later, on Memorial Day weekend, we decided to check out the outdoor bar area. I was shocked to see that they had completed it, and it was also gorgeous. We met friends, who had ordered appetizers, which they said were very good. The bar was extremely crowded, but service seemed fine, and my drinks were well made. I have not eaten in the outdoor dining section on the side of the building. Friends have commented that it is a little more crowded there than they would like. I think the crowd probably indicates how good they are. My experiences, both at the indoor portion of the restaurant, and the outdoor bar, were great. I look forward to returning to Waypoint 622, and I wish them continued success. read more

Not sure about some reviews below. "Menu like the old UL" have to be joking. UL had great fish and lots of choices. This has very little choice. The coffee rubbed whatever filet was just ok. Crab cakes were good. Service wind mind numbing bad. Had to ask for bread literally 5 times. Inexperienced staff. UL staff was like family if you were regular. Was hoping for some of the same. I guess not. Building improvements are nice. Food and service needs some work. I eat out a lot. UL got at least one meal a week out of us. Hope they can get there. read more

Drinks were awful, and the bartenders were not only unable to keep up with the crowd, but quite obnoxious. Only one bartender seemed to know what he was doing. Instead of waiting any longer we opted to order at the bar and sit on the side...proceeded to wait another hour for food that was never delivered. I have been to Waypoint622 twice so far this summer. Once we ate inside and once outside on the deck. Beautiful location, decor, and service was friendly although a little slow. Sadly, the food was disappointing. Calamari appetizer was chewy and obviously not fresh... Inexcusable for a water front restaurant. Lobster mac portion was unbelievably small for the price and almost devoid of any lobster meat. Blue crab appetizer arrived in a greasy pool of oil and lacked taste. Burger was good but the bun left much to be desired. Crab cake dinner was ok but also under seasoned. I'm hoping they work out the food issues as this is a prime location and has the potential to be a great hot spot at the Jersey Shore. Chef- take note and step up your game! read more
