First time coming to this gem. I was invited here by my coworkers for breakfast/brunch. It's a quaint spot that is super popular. We met here at 10 and waited in line outside to get in. While you wait in line you get a menu so you can decide on what you're going to eat by the time you make it to the front of the line. Once in the front of the line, you place your order and pay before being seated. The line does move fairly quickly, we waited no more than about 20 minutes. Also, you get an option of inside or outside seating. We sat inside just because we were ready to eat (lol). Inside was nice and you can still see outside. Outside was the view of the Camarillo airport which is a small commercial airport located right outside of the restaurant. The food was delicious! I couldn't decide between the pancakes, French toast, or breakfast sandwich. I couldn't make a decision so I let the waiter decide. The breakfast was fresh, hot, and delicious. In addition to breakfast, I choose the tropical mimosa. The tropical mimosa was pineapple. Orange juice and cranberry juice mixed with champagne. The food arrived about 10 minutes after being seated and the drinks arrived within a few minutes of being seated. Everything was great from the food to the views and customer service. Since you order before seating. Different workers come around to refill your water and to make sure everything is okay. I definitely will be coming back to try something else on the menu. read more

To kick off the new year (2025), I want to update my review from this wonderful restaurant, Waypoint Cafe. I can't believe it's been 3.5 years since finding this place, but I wanted to say that it is as wonderful and delicious as ever. We now have come to know much of the staff, and I want to say that many of them are long-standing employees. It is a VERY WELL RUN establishment, and the employees all seem to get along and enjoy what they do... and who they do it for !! We've been around at the end of their business day when they're having a staff meeting. They are constantly striving to improve, although from our vantage point, it seems pretty near perfect already. I really respect the business model they have. It's just an added bonus to always get such tasty, well-prepared food every time we show up. My husband and I tend to be creatures of habit (where food is concerned), so we always order the saaaaaaaaaaaame things here... patty melt for him and tuna melt for me... with fries, although my husband switches to onion rings sometimes... all washed down with passionfruit iced tea. They use quality ingredients, which are prepared perfectly, and the dishes ALWAYS turn out GREAT. Every single time. We absolutely love this place. read more

I've been coming here for years and have just forgotten to do a review. About 5 years ago they switched to ordering up front, getting a number and finding a table, so no more table service. They'll run the food out to you and clean your table after so be sure to tip at least some at the register. It's a good place for breakfast and lunch, but there's almost always a line to get in so expect to wait. I've had a little of everything from here but on this occasion I had the country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. For the side I got the massive homemade biscuit and gravy which was my favorite part. Everything was good and extremely filling thanks to their portions. However nothing was amazing, it was all just decent and not worth the long wait. Luckily I came when the line wasn't that long, but have left in the past when I've seen a long line. To drink I opted for coffee, and that's where they lose points. The coffee was the worst swill I've ever tasted and no amount of little flavored creamers could mask the nasty burnt after taste. I wish they had proper creamer but they just have little single serving cups. The service is friendly, and fast as can be considering the popularity of this place. A staff member did offer to get me something else in lieu of the coffee when she asked how everything was and I made it a point to mention the toilet water they poured in my cup, but I stuck to water. It's fun for the little ones to see planes and helicopters taking off and landing. Patio dining is a favorite of mine as well. So overall ambiance is nice for a brunch spot. One of my favorite breakfast spots in Ventura County - and I seem to not be the only one who thinks so because this place is always PACKED when we come. They do things a bit differently here. You will stand in line outside and order at the counter. Afterward, you'll be seated and have your food brought out to you. A bit of a combination between counter service and a full sit-down. I've never come for lunch, only for breakfast - but their breakfast is done so well. I've have yet to find a dish that I don't like. Their omelets are always on point, and their breakfast tacos are also an enjoyable pick. Also do a wonderful mimosa - it was here that I was first introduced to the pineapple mimosa, and ever since then, that will always be my preferred juice over OJ. And they are generous with their mimosa, so just be aware. They allow dogs on their outside patio, so that's always a treat when you want to go out with your furry friend. Gets super lively here, so be prepared for it to be a bit loud. Overall, great spot for breakfast. You'll have to wait in line for a bit, but it's always worth it. read more

I would highly recommend the carnitas omelet (you can split it with someone else - they'll split it for you if you ask). The cinnamon roll is nice on the tastebuds also, just be prepared, it's big! No reservations here. This is a first come first serve kind of place so prepare to wait if there's a long line. Missing your fur baby? Bring them with you. Dogs are allowed here. There's inside and outside seating. Would recommend outside seating though, if you'd like to do some airplane watching. Something to note, the outside can also be loud due to some planes taking off. I can't believe I've never reviewed Waypoint before! I absolutely love, love this place! Every time I have family or friends visiting, I bring them here! The parking can be a little challenging, especially during peak hours but we've always been able to park before we got to the front of the line to order. The line-- sometimessss it can get pretty long, which can be brutal during the summer. But they have really spruced up their outdoor area where the line forms. They have shade for people waiting and they even put benches on the side. They will sometimes bring cups of water during the summer while you wait, which is super considerate of them. Just be prepared to wait 1-1.5 hours especially in the summer/ when the weather is nice and people are out to brunch! You can grab a menu to peruse while you wait and you order and pay when you get to the hostess right inside the doors. They will seat you (I recommend outdoor, even in the colder times bc they have heaters). The outdoor area has more of a view of the planes, so that always adds to the ambiance and experience of Waypoint. Now let's get to the most important part-- the FOOD! Honestly, nothing has been a miss here! And portions are big. One plate is usually enough for 2 people. Definitely get a biscuit! They're pretty large and so fluffy and delish, and that whipped butter is bomb. I have not had the gravy so I cannot comment on that. The cinnamon roll French toast is 9/10. So, so yummy and one order was enough for 5 (we had leftovers). Then we got a tuna melt, basic good. 7.5/10 but the fries were a 10/10 (with the ranch, maybe it's the ranch that was a 10/10 lol). The breakfast burrito was a 8.5/10 (we got it without bacon). I wish the salsa was spicy tho. We got the hash browns on the side, which were good. The veggie omelette was hefty and filling and also came with bread and hash browns. I've previously had a California omelette with no bacon and that was filling too. And the huevos rancheros were also a hit with my group when we went previously! I haven't tried the shakes yet but I've heard great things and will definitely try one the next time I visit! The food was pretty good and inside it was clean with such a cute ambiance. They decorated for Christmas. It was super cold so we decided on a booth inside. They're very comfortable. I'm short and usually have the problem of not reaching the table or the back of the booth but I could here. It had views of the patio and outside airfield which was pretty awesome. All the workers are very nice. The coffee was a little too bitter, one thing I loved being diabetic was all the sugar substitutes it gave me, I don't like sweet n low and they had real stevia and sf syrup. I've always wanted to come here but every time we drove by the line was out the door. Turns out the ordering style is diner traditional, order at the register, you get a number and they seat you fast, and serve you fast, delicious food. For as fast as they were and not being fast food I think it's worth it. If you're thinking "What's the point of tipping if they don't have a traditional server/waiter?" Don't. They're attentive. They come by often asking if you want refills, boxes, if everything tastes good, if you want anything else; they also clean up after you. And this was on a busy Saturday morning. The front and back of the house all deserve the extra that is needed to survive the restaurant industry. For two breakfasts, an extra side and a coffee w unlimited refills I tipped a little over 20% and it ran under $60. read more

We've been coming to Waypoint Cafe since I was a kid and it's always a treat! The giant sodas are served in milkshake cups. All the food is good - I love the tuna melt and everything they serve for breakfast. The line is always long, but they move it along pretty quickly, now that you have to order before you're seated. The only reason I took a star away is the policy of the server asking to close the bill right after ordering. This doesn't make sense since a tip is requested before any service or food has even been received! You are given the option not to close out but we didn't understand this at first. Unless you're a local, you wouldn't know that they're located by the tiny Camarillo Airport. They have both indoor & outdoor seating. There's lots of open space for them to run around too. Even your fur babies are welcome here too. Quick Info: They are open Tuesday-Sunday 8am-3pm & offer American Cuisine for Breakfast & Lunch. You wait in line, place your order, pay, wait to get seated. Then, your food & drinks are brought to your table by different staff/servers. Just don't expect any table side service. Detailed Info: You line up in front of the restaurant. While you wait, look at the menu. Grab some menus from inside or look it up on your phone. Because, when you get inside they take your order. So you have to know what you want (Food & Drinks) before going inside. Place your order nicely with the smiling human. Then you pay for your food & drinks... Shortly, you get seated.... And before you know it, all your drinks & food are delivered quickly to your table... If you don't have any condiments at your table or if you're missing any sauces, then ask for it. They usually come & check if you have all you need & if everything is okay. Again, Just don't expect any table side service, just great service :D Yes the lines can be super long especially during peak times esp on the weekends. Weekdays are usually a shorter wait. I got the tuna salad sandwich with the garlic fries. This was the freshest sandwich I've ever had it paired nicely with the lettuce, it had a great crunch.
