I've stayed at this Marriott a couple of times, but have stayed across the street at the Cavalier more times and have been here for conferences many times and have never stopped into this ice scream spot until this recent visit. Ice cream shop is okay. Lots of choices and decent amount of seating indoor and outdoor. Pretty convenient to walk downstairs and grab something sweet on a hot day along with coffee and other drinks. What breaks a place is the service though. Didn't know you had to stand on the other side for only ice cream. There was no sign and since everyone was standing at check out to order, we assumed that's where the line starts, unfortunately we were told to step out of line and wait again after the line finished and order ice cream separately. I think as customer service since there wasn't direction, you could've at least say "excuse me, sorry for the wait but all orders for ice cream, the line starts here. But I see you have kids and waited for a long while, let me take care of these orders first and I will take yours next." Either way, we still had to wait but communicating to your customers is key. Another thing I didn't understand was they had waffle bowls displayed but was told they didn't have them. Was so confused when I was told twice they didn't have them. I didn't want to argue since we waited already and the line was picking up, so got the same cone for all orders. Was rushed to order and could tell that by ordering four types of ice cream was too much. I wasn't the only one that felt like an inconvenience or confused an order wasn't available, the guy that tried to order an ice coffee had to ask a few times if it had espresso which was odd to ask and be told it didn't have any in it and had to manually add one and pay for it, "brown sugar shaken espresso latte". Would I come again? Probably not. I'll just go to the next place for ice cream. Cute place to take pictures and convenient. read more

While I didn't have the chance to have ice cream here, I did enjoy ordering cold brew while I stayed at the Marriott. Service was fairly fast. The cold brew filled my heart and soul during the three full days I was there. The breakfast sandwich with ham, egg, and cheese was ok but not great. The interior is certainly that of an ice cream parlor when you enter. They did appear to have at least a dozen to maybe 20 flavors of ice cream. If I am ever back in Virginia Beach staying at the Marriott, I will need to give that a go. read more

I've been anxiously waiting for this spot to open for what feels like years. Finally! We rode our bikes along the boardwalk and saw it is open so we had to stop in and take a look and try a scoop! This is going to be great during the hot summer when you're on the beach and want to come enjoy a treat. In front they have a large patio with plenty of tables and outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade. They also serve Starbucks coffee inside this Marriott Lobby shop. The vibe is cute and retro with a large glass case inside where you can view all the flavors and make your choice. It's pretty pricey but that's as expected for this most fancy of VAB hotels. Very posh. They have some yummy ice cream flavors featuring the famous Tarnished Truth bourbon made across the street in the Cavalier hotel distillery. Ice cream is creamy good and I want to come back and try one of the milkshakes or sundaes another time. read more

We had a staycation across the street and decided to try this new ice cream shop. This is located inside the Marriott at oceanfront where you will also find the restaurants Tulu and Orion. It was super cute inside and had a kinda retro vibe. There was lots of flavors to choose from and there is also Starbucks coffee in the shop too. One thing to note is that they no offer samples like other ice cream shops so just take your pick by what you see. I played it safe and went with the strawberry it was good but nothing to wow over. Staff wasn't as peppy when you walk in and it was pretty quiet when we came in the afternoon. We'll be back to take the kiddos when we have dinner in these hotels! read more

We Scream was probably my favorite of the Cavalier resort dining. Yes, even with the fine dining options, I was here for the ice cream! Located inside of the Marriott, it operates as an ice cream shop and Starbucks. So you can start (or end) the day with a warm beverage and then enjoy ice cream during the day. Throughout the stay, I tried cookie dough, the Tennessee whiskey, the Tarnished Truth flavor and all were great. I loved that I could customize the flavors in a sundae. Speaking of a sundae, it's huge and shareable (think Gotta Have It size from Coldstone). Service was super friendly and the ambience was cool- a throwback to the ice cream parlors of past (or at least what I imagine them to be). read more

My wife and I spotted this little spot located across from the place we were staying, we decided to give them a try. They had a nice selection of ice cream flavors to choose from. My wife chose banana pudding and cookies and cream with a two scoop cup and I chose a coffee ice cream with caramel swirl and coffee chips ( sorry, I forgot the actual name of it ) . Fast and fun with a great great variety of ice creams. They offer different toppings and you can get your ice cream and a waffle cone waffle bowl cup or classic cone. They also have cake and brownie. They can be mixed into the ice cream. They offer seating to eat inside of the ice cream parlor which is very well decorated and cute for kids. Out of towners visiting Virginia Beach for the first time. We were staying at the Embassy but decided to have dinner in the Marriott and then have ice cream at We Scream. My mom wanted to taste test a flavor (which is a very common thing to do) and the one employee said we do not do taste tests. So we ordered the banana bread ice cream because the employee said it "tastes just like it". My mom unfortunately did not like it as it was overly sweet. She went back to return and ask for a different flavor. They made her pay AGAIN. The employees attitudes are a disgrace in this place. I'm not sure why these ladies work in customer service if they have such poor attitudes. read more

A few things to consider when visiting We scream/Starbucks is #1 exceptional services; the workers were all so sweet, they are here to help if you want to try new flavors . #2 conveniently located right next to the beach club, so after a dip in the pool you can warm up with a coffee or cool down with one of We screams signature sundaes. I was so excited to see a new (cute looking) ice cream shop open at the Marriott, but I was so so disappointed with my experience. Worst ice cream I've ever tasted. My family and I tried 3 different flavors...all disgusting/nearly inedible. Even my children who are 3 and 5 and NOT picky when it comes anything sweet just stopped eating after a few bites. That's when I knew it was bad. The ice cream just had this cheap/artificial taste. It was awful. Now it makes complete sense as to why they don't give samples. read more

I heard her sighing several times in front of the customers. Oh by the way they don't take cash or Starbucks app which is super annoying. Everything is over priced and they only sell grande or venti. Went during a busy time during a holiday weekend resulting in a line out the door (which was to be expected). Ice cream was incredibly pricy, and while there were many flavors to choose from, the ones we got were very underwhelming (banana pudding and a turtle sundae). The staff behind the counter had terrible guest service, and the girl that was helping us had a hole in her glove resulting in her entire thumb being exposed. She continued to serve food like this and when another coworker asked her to change her gloves she simply laughed. This is beyond unsanitary is not ok when handling ready to eat food.
