In town for a Military reunion and found this place on Grub Hub. Ordered the Mushroom pizza and added bacon. To say this was the Mushroomiest Mushroom pizza I have ever had is an understatement. It was smothered in Mushrooms and also had truffles on it. It was excellent. It was a hidden gem considering I wasn't familiar with them or other restaurants in the immediate area. Ordered this from Uber eats after a couple hours of debating where to get food. Got the veggie pizza. Liked that the crust was a little sweet and puffy, but it could have used a bit more crunch on the bottom and a more rounded flavor. Cheese and sauce was a little light but there was a lot of veggies. The roasted tomatoes was delicious with the mushrooms but the spinach kind of looked like it came from a can. First off, there is no better place to grab pizza in the Crystal City or Pentagon City area. Great atmosphere, good prices, and dependable pizza. There are a variety of pizzas to choose from (my personal favorites are white pizza, Colette's notorious BBQ, and the Cajun chicken with spicy sausage). They also have basic side salads. I don't recommend the garlic knots because they're a little flat and the sauce doesn't have much of a kick, but the dessert knots with the icing are absolutely fantastic!!! Knots are $1.50 for 2 (you'll want 2 desert knots per person) or 6 for $4 And the best part of the meal will be the orange cream soda, I promise! We sometimes bring a soda home and put a shot of vodka in it for an extra special treat :) I had their dessert pie once, but wasn't too impressed. First off let me start by saying this place has AWESOME pizza! They have speciality pizzas with awesome toppings. There's a pizza for everyone if you come with a group. The best part about this place is they allow you to buy by the slice. Many places with good pizza require a whole pizza to be purchased. My personal favorite is the butchers block. The pizza is pulled high with ham bacon and sausage. I accompany my pizza slice with their fresh strawberry lemonade. I currently only know of two locations in the area. The first location is in Crystal City near pentagon city mall. The second location is on the Hill near union station. Parking is challenging for the location in capitol hill. I would love to see more of these around the city because they are definitely worth the expansion! read more

I think this business, like many restaurants, is being impacted by mass exodus of service workers. We had a veryyyyyy slow order on a Sunday night, but the business was apologetic (as was the delivery driver). That said, the pizza was delicious. My husband and I agree if it had been hot when delivered, it would've been amazing. So we will give them another chance, and we were understanding about the delay. Well, let me tell you... there were good points and bad. The sum total was mediocre and not an experience I'll ever repeat. In fact, I'll not repeat anything associated with Spike or the Mendelson clan. Too much in common between this experience and another at his burger joint. Service without a smile or any courtesies at all. I felt like I was talking to zombies. One guy only changed his expression from complete disinterest to a smile while chatting with their delivery guy. But no love for customers. At least they did their job and got me what I ordered. And speaking of order. All of the pizza is displayed at the complete opposite side from the order area. Weird layout. Looks good from the sidewalk but not very useful when ordering. The home made soda is too sweet. I think it gave me both a cavity and a raging case of diabetes. Did not enjoy at all. A waste of $3. The pizza was an interesting experience. I liked parts of it and hated other parts. First, though, was the apprehension that reheated slices would taste like leftovers. They didn't. The toppings were really good. I had two slices: mushroom and sausage/peppers. All meat and veg were yummy. Cheese was good too. But sauce... none to speak of. Just an obligatory smear of red on one slice but not enough to taste. The crust was the biggest disappointment. I like crust and sometimes like the pizza bones even more than the pizza. These bones were light and puffy but weirdly salty. Inedible, and the were about 2 inches in width so it was a significant part of the slice. Very disappointing was the crust. The place was clean and a staff member cleaned tables twice during my short stay. Yay. I would have stayed longer but the loud and weird music drove me out. 1980's??? Oh... and at the risk of sounding like a cheap person... what's up with the 5% of additional fees. The sandwich shop in the same block doesn't charge them. Finally got a chance to try out Chef Spike's other fast-casual eatery, We, The Pizza. I'd heard mixed things about this place, but I really enjoyed it! It's location is pretty boss, as it's attached to the Crystal City Shops right by the parking elevator that we came up in, hehe. The restaurant does specialty pizzas and housemade sodas. The pizza slices are pretty huge and service was lightning fast for us. I got to sample the mushroom forest pizza (delicious!) and honey ham and pineapple (also good, but kinda normal), as well as a FABULOUS cream soda. They made the soda with REAL CREAM and it blew my mind. I'll definitely hit We, The Pizza back up for a slice or two of 'za when I'm in the area! read more

Originally for someone who is from New York but lives in Michigan now I will say I am happy I found this pizza place while on vacation. It is hard living in a state that they don't understand what real pizza is like and there are only few places around me that I can get close to New York style pizza. This place reminds me so much of home and the big city. This place had a great selection of different pies you can try. I for sure tried several different ones while I was in town because of course I love pizza. I love the garlic knots they had and they make their own soda if you choose to go that route or they have a soda machine. Another favorite thing of mine was how here in DC they have tunnels that connects a lot of the buildings that have shops underneath also and connects to the metro. We the Pizza is really expensive for what you get. I got a Large pepperoni pizza, they didn't have any coupons so it was almost $25 after tax. Yikes, expensive for a single topping, but I figured it's gotta be worth trying. I was disappointed that the crust was way too big: they could have gone further toward the outside of the pie when adding sauce, cheese, toppings. Approximately 2" of crust is a waste, especially when there's no flavor to the crust, it was very bland. If you're looking for an alternative, Wiseguys is much better as a "premium" pizza pick in the area, I can get a Large Supreme for the same price as a "We the Pizza" Large 1-topping, and the pizza quality/flavor is better. So not a dreadful experience just no reason to go back. read more

Good pizza but a bit pricey. If you buy by the slice, they take one from the display counter and reheat it in the oven. Service is a bit desultory but fast, not counting the time it takes to reheat. If you like heavy, cheesy pizza, this place is definitely better than the chains. So that's a positive. They sell by the slice, so that's a positive. 1 slice fills you up, so it's a very cheap meal, which is a positive. Yet for all the fancy ingredients it just should be a lot better. If you can, get the whole pie and share it with friends. It comes out hot, fresh, and very good. The buffalo mozzarella with tomato pizza was awesome. But if you get it by the slice, as I did one day with the white pizza and a Cajun chicken pizza, the wow factor goes down TREMENDOUSLY because the slices are just not hot enough. They need to reheat their individual slices at a higher temperature. Otherwise, it tasted as if I was eating semi-flavored cardboard. Bottom line: Get the whole pie. read more

We came here for the first time on a Friday night during lent since pizza is one of the few meatless options we're able to enjoy. It was fairly crowded but that's to be expected. We got a table out in the hallway of the crystal city underground which was fine, however it was a little noisy for my taste. There were five adults and an infant so we got two large pizzas to share. We decided on the cheese and spinach and artichoke pizza. The spinach and artichoke pizza was a white pizza and quite tasty. It had bold flavors and a nice crust. The cheese was also good and fairly standard. Everyone else had a beer and I tried the strawberry lemonade soda which was delicious. Overall it was a decently priced and yummy causal meal. I thought the pizzas here are just OK. The reason, I believe, is largely due to the fact that all the pizzas are out and made already and the crusts are typically pretty thin so when they reheat it in the oven, the cheese get dryer and more browned and the crusts get hard and burnt a little. It's tough for thin pizzas to still taste good after reheating. The thicker crust pizzas fare better. I know they have specialty pizzas but I am a little disappointed at the selections. Out of all their choices, I only like their Peppers and Sausage and Butcher Block (essentially all meat). I think they can have more Veggie choices (I think I only saw artichoke and a mushroom one). The place itself is divey and cool - black and white all over. Tables are outside on a nice day and in the mall when it's bad weather. The whole place has a pretty cool vibe. read more

Pizza slices are not heated up enough. Interesting toppings, but they just don't deliver on the palate. I got a slice of the BBQ pizza, and the cheddar was just too much and I could hardly taste the BBQ sauce. Additionally, they forgot my Egg Cream. It doesn't matter anyhow because what I got was not a properly made Egg Cream, as you'll see in my picture. They had the door propped open on a cold day, so even if you could sit inside you wouldn't have been comfortable. Also, the music was blaring way too loud in my opinion. I admire the businesses that are adamant about ensuring everyone's safety by at least REQUIRING EVERYONE to have on a mask, in order to enter their establishment. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed "We the Pizza" was not as adamant. This was my first time ever trying this pizza! I was a little skeptical, but the menu looked good, the pizza looked good...there were several signs of social distancing & only 1 other customer waiting on their pizza. So I ordered a slice & then noticed about 6 other people came in behind me. When I received my slice & was about to leave, I had to ask two people to clear out the area so I can safely pass since they were NOT wearing a mask!!! I was VERY DISTURBED they were allowed inside the shop & serviced WITHOUT wearing the required safety gear! After a full day at Six Flags I sure wasn't going to be whipping up dinner, nor did I really feel like doing much else besides sitting on the couch and resting my weary feet. I looked through some menus that I had and noticed a We, the Pizza menu with a 25% off coupon for first time customers. I had dined in at the location in Capitol Hill, but this my first time both for delivery and using the Arlington location. Online ordering, as expected as simple. We decided on a large white pie topped with ricotta, fontina, parmesan, and mozz with roasted garlic, sea salt, and olive oil. You can customize the pizza, as expected, and we added Cajun grilled chicken for a bit of extra protein. The order was placed at 8pm and had an ETA of 70 mins. With the coupon, the pizza was $20. Almost exactly 70 minutes later, the pizza was delivered to our front door. It was hot, fresh, and delicious! I loved the large dollops of ricotta, and the roasted garlic flavor was prominent, which is perfect for a garlic lover like myself. Adding the Cajun chicken kicked up the spice level a tad as did crushed red pepper we added ourselves. The portion of chicken was quite generous and evenly distributed. I appreciated the chicken was underneath the cheese rather than scattered on top. The crust, which was soft and chewy, was sprinkled with garlic, salt, and parsley adding extra flavor to it. Another bonus, the pizza heated up quite well the following day for lunch. I was a big fan of the pizza we ordered, and would definitely use the delivery service in the future to satisfy my pizza cravings. read more
