Wee Bee's has some of the best burgers I've ever had. They make their own homemade baked buns and burger sauce. I grew up eating burgers here and hands down are the best "fast food" burgers I've ever had. I say fast food lightly as they make your burgers/food fresh to order. Election Day I was tasked with providing dinner for two of the poll workers in south Anchorage, my wife and daughter. Since their poll was very near Wee B's they requested I pick up their dinner there. So, I stopped in to the store at about 4:45 and ordered a bacon cheeseburger, a bacon burger, an order of French fries, an order of onion rings, and two strawberry milk shakes. I asked for the items to be double bagged, which they were, to help preserve the temperature, and they graciously provided a box and drink caddy to make my trip easier. The order came out quickly, was exactly right according to the recipients and was, without equivocation, "the best". The strongest positive came from the strawberry milk shakes which were crammed with chunks of real strawberries and were pronounced delicious. I knew Jim Bookey(the founder and namesake) almost 40 years and he can be proud that his "home made" tradition has been carried on at this store. Thank you to the staff at Wee B's. Slowest service I have received in anchorage for a simple burger. Took over 30 mins with no one in the place but us. Won't be going back.

Food was great but I found a plastic bread tie in my burger! :( it was still good but I was alittle shocked to pull something hard and plastic out of my mouth! Pls pay more attention when making burgers! I could of died lol read more

This place brings me back to being really young and visiting my town's local burger joint. I think it was called Mr. Zips! Old School everything.... all the time. Expect a wait because everything is being grilled up in back. The buns are awesome. Fries and o rings are done well. They have a drive thru, but I recommend a trip inside for the full experience. read more

Alright. So I was pretty skeptical about going to a place that had a funny name. But I have lived in Alaska all my life, so I figured what the hell. I walked in the door and was greeted by the glorious smell of real grease, not that vegetable crap, wafting on the breeze. It was then I noticed that I had went back in time to the 1970s and was not disappointed. I ended up chatting with an older gentleman, and we talked about times of days gone by. Then the food came, dear sweet Christmas the food. It smelled of real beef and had two decently sized patties in between two buns that had soaked up all the grease they were transparent. The first bite I was greeted by a chorus of angels from upon high that had just come down to watch me eat this food article they could not enjoy. As I continued, I realized that I could not keep up with a conversation with the person I had come with and we just enjoyed our food making noises most people would use during vigorous intercourse. I actually lost the use of my pants during the whole ordeal, which is saying something. All in all that was the best burger I would have eaten in the last 15 years. All the other reviews are based on some other superficial excrement when you should really vote with your food. You will not be disappointed. read more

Horrible drive through experience. 1. Got our order wrong. 2. Our fries tasted like they where stale and NOT fresh. 3. The burger sucked. It was thin and not tasty. 4. It literally took 25 min to go through the drive through. I don't know how they are in business. read more

Im a bit disappointed but not sure about their consistency so it might be a rare thing. Whenever I see an ugly beat up burger joint, I always start salivating. I usually think to myself: "They dont need to update the place because people probably go there anyways! Thats how they stay in business. The food not the look of the place!" well, the burger and fries I had were very bland. I do not want to give it less than 3 stars because they were efficient and polite, but the food was not great. I will try to go again before leaving Alaska because with an ugly joint with an ugly name like that, its got to be good! right? I hope next time will be better. read more

I went there yesterday and got a deluxe bacon cheeseburger and it was great my bf got the same with a strawberry milkshake and it was super awesome the burger was wrapped and I'm glad it was otherwise I would have gotten the sauce and lettuce all over myself but it's well worth the money we payed and I love that they have a few arcade machines in the place I think it's a comfy place like still great food mixed with comfy dining rather then some stuck up places. read more

messed up my order, did not discover it until i arrived home to eat it. The disgruntled guy behind the counter cooking the food was troublesome to watch while making my food. yelling and throwing stuff around. Best burger joint around homemade buns fresh ground beef buffalo and elk. In my opinion this is the best burger place around.

There seemed to be some confusion when we walked in and it took several minutes for them to work it out but finally got to us. The girl was slow in taking our ordered but I'm sure she was making sure she got everything and she did! The food was ready pretty quickly there had to be 6-7 people on staff which was great! The fresh homemade fries were excellent but probably better if eaten quickly since they are made from real potatoes. I had elk and moose burgers both were good but I liked the elk burger the most. One major thumbs down is "No REFILLS" on their soda machine that's behind the counter that mentality is a little out dated. read more

This is a good old fashioned burger place, and that's fine by me! My buffalo mushroom burger was seasoned well, and the buns are really good. I wasn't sold on the fries though. I'm not a big fan of these type of darker fries... I find them to be bitter and soft, but I know what they were going for. The place is clean, and the staff very friendly. read more

We waited for 30 min at the drive-in after placing our order. When we asked for our food the second time they suddenly 'found' it. We received our food cold. They basically let us wait until our order was cold. The cheese of the burgers was burnt black. Never again. read more

Took over 30min to get our food when we were the only 2 in there. I went up front to ask about the food and the woman asked if there was anything else she could get me. And I hadn't received my food. I'm under the impression that they forgot about our order. When we received our food they gave it to us as a to go order in a bag. we had ordered to eat in. The burger was flavorful, but way over cooked. To the point that the patty was chewy. This place used to be a favorite spot. Haven't been impressed the last couple visits. read more

Not fancy but something 'kitschy-cool' going on here. The elk burgers are yummy and don't know what it is exactly but the buns are oddly addictive. Nice milkshake and Italian soda bar but my preference is the chili-cheese fries when I'm wanting comfort food. Try the jalapeño burger. read more

The burgers are okay, the "home-cut" fries are awful - limp and greasy. The restaurant is filthy. We visited at 1pm on a Saturday, the dining room floor had food scraps, bits of trash, and a layer of dirt. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. Good food. Love the old exterior. Tops for hamburger buns that I've tried. Burger meat is also tasty. I would definitely like to sample more of their menu in the future. I would recommend ordering food to go. Staff was nice and service was prompt, but I knocked off a star because the interior eating area was kind of dirty when I ate there with a friend. While the food is strong in quality, the place is starting to look like its a little past its prime. I think if they kept it clean a little more aggressively and installed some simple yet fitting landscaping (maybe something to screen that ugly derelict semi) they would look just as strong as ever to customers that choose to eat in. read more

After a vigrous after noon of fun and excitement we stopped to enjoy ouselfs with a early dinner as per what i expected the decore was that of a mid grade diner. Staff was curtious was a bit pricy for a burger. Got our food the burgers and onion rings were very good. The fries on the other hand were not the oil was not hot enough so they were very greasy and kind of soggy. All in all did not live up to the hype it has been given. I showed up at 1050am on a Monday and they're open signs were on-however the doors were still locked, no one would answer the drive thru and when I pulled around to the drivethru window a staff members child was behind the counter, wiping his nose on his hand and touching everything; including getting ice and drinks for himself and touching the lids, cups etc. When she came to the window she was curt and rude saying i hadn't jiggled the handle enough-but wouldn't answer why they weren't answering the drive thru. read more

Our family's favorite place for burgers. These are not wimpy fast food burgers. These burgers are the real, homemade, juicy kind that require many napkins. There are lots of options; cheese of course, grilled onions, mushrooms, etc. They have other types of sandwiches such as chicken and fish, but I've always just stuck with the burgers since they're so good. The fries are made on-site from fresh, with peels on. They are soft, but not soggy, and perfectly done. Milkshakes are made from hard ice cream and are delicious. The decor is nothing to write home about, but it's a burger joint, what do you expect? There are a couple pinball machines to keep the kids entertained while you wait for your food, though it comes pretty quickly. The place never seems terribly busy, but business is steady. The eldery fellow who owns the place is often there and is quite a character. He's locally famous for attempting to foil a robbery a few years ago - tough old guy!!! I don't recommend hitting their drive-through. It won't save you any time. read more

Worst hamburgers I've ever had in my life! I can't understand how they stay in business

I drive by this place every time I visit my relatives in Alaska and this time I decided to try it. We had a 1/2 lb buffalo burger that was actually a double 1/4 pounder (you can get beef, or for a few dollars extra you can have buffalo or elk, apparently) and the burger was excellent. It's hard to tell buffalo from beef, so if you don't need the experience you could just forgo the extra couple of bucks and get beef. The fries were thin-cut right from the potato with skins on and cooked perfectly. The majority of the fries had two or three stuck together so they ended up being wide flat strips. I really liked the fries; I just can't tell if they were intentionally cut that way or the chopping machine was out of alignment. As others mentioned they run out of ice cream. We were there at 1pm or so and couldn't get a shake. The patient and friendly help recommended a double chocolate ice rage and it was pretty much just like a chocolate shake. I docked the place two stars because like almost every other reviewer I found the interior borderline disgusting. I don't mind the fact that it's run down at all - what I mind is the fact that every table was dirty. We were at the tail end of lunch and there were only about three tables occupied and every open table was quite dirty. We hunted for the least dirty one can cleaned it with napkins and water. It would be such a simple management change to have someone wipe down tables every 15-30 minutes. If clean, the place would have been an easy 4 stars. read more
