On Yesterday', A group of my fitness buddies had our 3rd Annual Secret Santa Brunch at Weights & Measures! Since, it was a new spot for me I wasn't sure what to order. But, our waiters were very helpful about what was on their menu to make my decision easier on what to eat. Also, everything was made fresh when our food arrived. I happened to find W+M after visiting Love croissants, I'm so glad I did!! W+M is one of the best brunch spots I've been to in a long time. Literally, everything on the menu was worthy of being ordered. I really had a hard time choosing after looking at all of the delicious plates that were being served to other visitors. I decided on the W+M salad and my husband had the chicken with French toast. Neither dish disappointed! We also ordered a side of breakfast potatoes and over easy eggs. Not only was everything cooked to perfection, but the portion sizes were satisfying, and the food was really good. I'm planning to make W+M a regular when I visit Houston. Checked this place out for brunch! Super cute spot. They have a bakery when you initially walking on a assorted variety. Then there is general dining area. There aren't any dedicated vegetarian or vegan options but you can build a plate, which is what I did! The sautéed spinach was fire! Perfectly seasoned. Unfortunately the pancakes were just mid. They were not hot when they came out. Breakfast potatoes were really good though. I ordered the tiramsu latte and they do have oatmilk for those that avoid the dairy like me! We had friends in town this weekend and after a visit to MD Anderson we stopped in at W&M to enjoy a late brunch. After starting out slow with the service things turned around and the food was delicious. We started off with the Tex Queno...the Venezuelan cheese and cilantro sauce was yum! For our entrees we enjoyed the ragu bolognese, pork belly arepa benedict, Yucatán tostadas and the Caesar salad with steak everything was cooked perfectly. Seasonings and flavors were on point. We treated ourselves with a s'mores latte, capuchino and dessert (we couldn't decide so we got 4 and shared). Chocolate raviolis, bread pudding, carrot cake and the salted caramel creamaux...all 4 were tasty with the right amount of sweetness. We will definitely be back! read more

Another lovely adventure with the Pretty Girls Brunch group. As soon as you walk in there is a bakery fresh bread, danish and other items. I will say if you want to take advantage get there early. I waited for after brunch and it was too late a lot of items were gone. Out waiter was very helpful, there was so much on the menu I wanted to try but I could only choose 1. The waiter told me about his favorite CHILAQUILES braised shortrib + ancho chile mole + refried black beans + fried eggs + queso fresco + pico de gallo + fresh chiles + cilantro and he told me to add a avocado on the side. This was delicious, but for me it was an overload of black beans and the braised short ribs was a little fatty. That is just my personal preference. The cocktail we great hands down! I came here with my mom and sister for Houston Restaurant Week and it was definitely a delight. I had the Salmon Tartare as a starter, Mahi Mahi for my main dish, and Crème Brûlée. All of it was SO good. My mom and sister had the Roasted Corn Soup as a starter and they both said it was delicious. My mom got the Key Lime Torte for her dessert and that was also very good. It says online that it's a Peach and Brown Sugar Torte, but they must have changed it. Either way, it was tasty! When you first walk in, they have some tables and chairs by the counter where I guess they sell some of their pastries/desserts maybe... or for take out? I don't know, but those chairs are super comfy and I need to know where they came from because I want some lol. Regardless, I look forward to coming back and having more of their food. read more

HRW MENU! first of all, I already loved it before I walked in because it's located downtown and they had their own parking lot. Like, how awesome is that. Inside was very nice and modern. Plenty of seating. Ordered the margarita and it was quite strong and great! Got the charcuterie, salmon tare tare (very refreshing and the fish was pretty fresh), ribeye (I didn't taste much truffle oil, it was seasoning fine though) and ended with the creme brûlée (creamy and delicious. My 1st time at Weights and measures but I've been seeing this place many times before. I was very surprised to see food was very good and service was impeccable. Our server Myra is earning the extra star for this review. I'm not a big fan of hanger steak at all since it's chewing and poor quality of meat to me, but this got me good. The steak was very good. (And I'm super picky on my steak) Honestly I avoid choosing the steak bcoz I'm not a fan and very picky on it so my friend ordered it and I tasted. That was how I found out how good it was. My choice was the mahi-mahi and it was equally good too. Hats down to the chef. The desserts was ok but the coffee was excellent. Love the banana foster latte . We also bought some pastries on the way out. Since it was for bkfast time so most of the pastries were gone. If y'all haven't try this place out, it's recommended. read more

The food is exceptional here! The drinks are also pretty great. I always love an espresso martini and theirs is decent! There's not great outdoor dining but the dining room is pretty and clean. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive at first. He wasn't very good at checking on us through out the meal and we ended up waiting for our check for almost 45 minutes after the table was cleaned. Came here on a Tuesday for lunch and it wasn't packed at all. We got there right in time before the lunch rush crowd. We ordered the W+M Salads. My friend got the salad with added shrimp as protein. I decided for no protein and actually really enjoyed the salad! I love that the salad has pomegranate seeds and toasted cashews. It added the perfect touch to the salad. This was my second time here and it did not disappoint. Some co-workers and I did the Run in the park 19th annual race in the morning and worked up an appetite. We wanted something close by so I chose this restaurant. I was able to make reservations for 6 at 10 am with no problem through open table. When we arrived it wasn't too busy and we were able to sit right away and get some drinks going. I had a passion fruit mimosa that was really great! More champagne than juice which is how it should be. I had the steak and eggs which was also really great. The meat was cooked medium well, how I asked for it and it had lots of flavor, and came with some friend potatoes and a small salad. I ordered a side pancake and it was ok, it was a bit dry but I also did not put butter on it. I wanted to try the michelada because it's hard to find a place that makes their own mix with such perfection. This Bloody Mary/ michelada mix was more shell fish tasting, similar to Clamato, and it was good just wasn't what I'd prefer. Overall the service was great, food was great, and there was no wait or any difficulty parking. FYI they also have a bakery and make all kinds of yummy sweet breads. Stopped in for lunch and it was a good decision. It's located right down the street from Houston Community College - Central, with a surprisingly decent amount of parking. We got in just before noon and it was quiet, almost as if they weren't open, but they were. There was only one other table filled but that changed quickly after we were seated. We got there at the right time. Things I ordered: -Iced toffee nut latte. It was delicious but mostly ice :( -Corn and zucchini fritters. They were really good. Light and flavorful. Order came with four. -Braised short rib sandwich. This was a surprise for me because I was expecting a barbecue-style sammy, but there was no sauce in sight. The short rib was good and very tender. Also surprisingly juicy! I didn't miss the barbecue sauce at all! The bread was interesting but tasty. The cheese was a little much for me so I scraped some off. Came with house-made chips that were light and crunchy. Everything was really good. I'd recommend stopping in for lunch. No idea what their dinner menu looks like. They also have a bake shop up front but there wasn't anyone there and the woman working the hostess desk never looked up from her phone so I didn't feel confident that she would be helpful :( read more

Weights + Measures has been on my list for quite a while now. I finally stopped by on a weekday with a coworker for her birthday lunch. W+M is a bakery and restaurant all-in-one. They have a small parking lot but we were able to find a spot. Also, W+M is on Alison Cook's top 100 restaurants. Alison is Houston's top food critic and she publishes her top 100 restaurants every year. W+M has a chic, modern feel. Service was excellent throughout. Professional and friendly. But it's the food that really stands out in my mind. But before we get there, even though we were there for lunch, we were celebrating, so an adult beverage was in order. They have a creative list of craft cocktails and I went with the green goddess. Basically an alcoholic smoothie! I've never had avocado in an alcoholic drink so I couldn't pass it up. While bread service isn't on their menu, ask for some and you won't regret it. They are a bakery as well after all. In addition to the bread, we also tried the zucchini and corn fritters appetizer. An interesting mix and not greasy as you'll often come across with dishes like this. As you're starting to tell, W+M is all about fresh, high-quality ingredients. For my main dish, I had the grilled chicken pesto pasta. I love pesto so I couldn't pass this one up either. Another excellent dish. Since we were celebrating, we ended up going big with dessert too. We went with their dough-knots which are highly recommended on Yelp. They were alright but weren't up to par with everything else I tried. Excellent Food, Service, and ambiance, Patronized Weights and Measures (W+M) with a group for lunch during the week on two different occasions. The service was outstanding both times. The lighting and decor make you feel comfortable. The menu is expansive with so many choices. I thoroughly enjoyed the W+M salad and the Wood Fired Salmon Succotash. Portions were very generous. I also had a latte with Jameson Cold Brew which was a good energy boost. The General Organa is similar to a mimosa & has a really good after taste. The French toast is prepped at the beginning of the morning then reheated which made it super hard. Just gross all around. The sausage was probably the best thing, it's house made & flavorful. Eggs were eggs, pancakes were ok, lackluster. Now, the problem came with the service. Ashley was great & her energy started out really bubbly & I loved it. However, Seth was the complete opposite. He kept snapping at us & some of the staff. He got an attitude with us a few times for asking Ashley questions or other servers. Specifically saying "you can ask me!" with pure attitude & the energy immediately shifted from upbeat to tense. The servers around stop & looked at him confused as to the attitude towards us. One even made a comment "you should see how he is in our text messages." I told him he needed to watch his tone. Fantastic midtown brunch spot. Came with a group of 7 for Saturday morning brunch (made a reservation). Service was excellent- Ashley took great care of us! For a drink, I got the sweet Caroline, which is a mock tail that's sweet and fruity. It's really delicious and I would definitely get it again. I ordered the roasted carrot pizza to share with my friend (Guy Fieri loved this on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives). It lives up to the hype! You can taste the orange juice from the carrots and the toppings all compliment the flavors so well. It's spicy from the chiles and so well seasoned from the dukka and soubise. New ownership kills strong brand. What began with high hopes for infusion of new energy has been a disaster. For years, Weights + Measures has been a staple of the brunch scene and an eclectic funky spot for dinner. Sadly, the new ownership, instead of revitalizing it has killed the energy. The new staff is unaware of the legacy. They've shrunken key dishes, like the carrot pizza by more than half while keeping the prices the same. More concerning, basics quality and higiene. Giving it yet another chance this past Friday, The bartender used the restroom, came out of the stall without washing his hands and proceeded to go right back to work pouring my wife a glass of water. We asked for a beer. We're told the taps were broken. We ended up leaving. So sad that the new owners have elected to kill a strong brand. read more

Chilaquiles was very tasty however it was the only vegetarian option and I think at this point a restaurant should have a few options rather than just one. Another annoyance: this restaurant does not allow you to split the bill. I'm not sure the reason for this but again, it's 2022 and people who arrive as a party of several individuals should be allowed to split the check to pay their amount. Splitting the total over X number of people is not fair to those who would pay less on their meal. Also, your receipt does not show the breakdown in price by line item. So you pay a total sum but does not show the amount of tax included or an added gratuity charge if one was added. Pretty annoying. In all, a nice place with a nice ambiance but unclear and outdated payment options with limited vegetarian items makes me less likely to come back. read more
