Best kolaches at any weikels! At some places you might get older dried out pastry's but not here. I love to stop here and get a dozen cherry cream cheese kolaches. I do not know who is making the kolaches here but I suspect there's some older Czech women in the back making these. Can't go wrong with any of the pastries here kolaches are just my favorite. It's attached to a gas station - do NOT judge. We stopped in on a late Friday morning and the line was nearly out the door. However, the wait wasn't very long. What you have to try: cheese Danish, kolaches (even made with seasonal sausage!), and honey bee roll (it's like a cinnamon roll but without icing and pecans + honey instead). I had never tried a poppy seed roll until stopping in here. It was different, but good. There are bulk items to grab and go as well, in case you're in a hurry. Definitely worth the stop. Coffee and kolache! I've never tasted anything quite like it. I love the cream cheese best, no wait, the cherry cream cheese, or maybe the chocolate cream cheese. Great bakery and pastry options. Cinnamon rolls and Apple fritters are the best. If you really want a treat, order one of their sandwiches made from fresh baked bread!!! Me and my boyfriend went two days in a row for their amazing breakfast croissants and pastries. The croissants are literally as big as your face. Definitely worth the price and it tastes so good. Their carrot cake and banana nut cake are to die for. The ladies that work there are super nice and if you visit enough they will remember who you are by name which is really nice! Very inviting and nice atmosphere. Will have to try the pies next time! read more

Was on the road and saw a billboard for these guys, decided to give them a chance and I'm glad I did! The bakery is joined with a gas station and a fast food restaurant. Seems a little odd, but I just went with it. The bakery section is smallish but tons to choose from. When I first walked in I noticed shelves of jams, jellies, syrup, pickles and pickles things. Display cases full of pies, doughnuts, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and the reason for my stop...kolaches! I settled on a lemon and a poppy seed roll. Both were amazing! They were not traditional kolaches, sweeter and more yeasty but they were delicious!! So glad I stopped here. read more

This place is in terrible shape, smells awful, and has way too obviously been neglected. I'm never stopping here again. I don't know how they're still expecting to charge people to purchase their baked goods. Any product that's been prepared within these walls has a high likelihood of contamination. Pies look underwhelming, but we got fully disappointed after the rude/poor attitude of the young girl at the counter with short blonde hair. Asked her about the crumble pie "so it has apple in it and..." (As in what else does it have). Her Actual response "umm, yea.. it's an apple pie so it's gonna have apple in it". Lemon, strawberry, poppyseed, cheese, raspberry, apricot, ran out of peach. Now i realize that these are in the supermaket as danishes! They originated by the Czech and the Texans.cool. they were soft as a pillow. Got a pecan square. So many pecans. Apple strudel had wonderful apples, rains, and nuts. You must stop by! Grew up eating my great aunt Selma's homemade fruit kolaches, poppyseed rolls and other fresh baked delights. My sisters and I have been looking for kolaches like Selma's. Stopped at Weikel's the other day. We ordered several kolaches, poppyseed pockets and a poppyseed roll. We loved all of them. They were the best ones that we have found to date. And they fill the pastry, so you get plenty of filling!!! Ignore the fact that the bakery is attached to a gas station. They are legit and make wonderful Czech delights. Don't fall for this place. Don't fall for the Nitro Coffee - it tastes really old and just odd. Don't fall for the ham and cheese kolache - with barely any ham in it (I'd recommend they take the word "authentic" off of their advertising). Don't fall for the way too sweet sweet kolaches (with possible exception to the cottage cheese one - they haven't figured out how inject the individual curds with sugar yet). Don't fall for the 6 pack deal - there's no discount unless you get 6 sweet kolaches OR 6 savory. Don't fall for the ATM, which is out of order. Every other kolache place I've ever been to (there have been many) is better than this one. With so many options on a drive between Austin and Houston, there is simply no reason to stop here. + 1 Star for the pleasant individuals behind the counter and the availability of outdoor seating. read more

We came by in the afternoon on a Saturday. The bakery is attached to the convenience store. I tried the ham and cheese. I liked the ham because I do like the ham to be a little dry sometimes when I'm eating it in certain items. I like the contrast of the thin and dry ham with the melted cheese. The bread was sweet and super soft. They have a microwave that you can use to heat your items to your preference. They also sold items in pre-packed packages. read more

We happened to stop here on our way to Austin for a pit stop. I saw the baked goods on display and decided to buy a cream cheese kolache. We were already a few miles away when I took the first bite. The bread was so light and airy, it melts in your mouth. On the way home later that day, we stopped again so I could get more. I also bought a loaf of marble rye and a loaf of plain, white bread. I made a pb & j with the white bread. It was awesome. I haven't tried the marble rye yet, but I bet it will also be very good. If you happen to be nearby or driving by, this is a place to stop. We loved the bakery. We bought sandwiches for about 20 people who were either in my son's wedding or helping set up the venue for the wedding. I sent Debra, the manager, a list of the names and sandwiches they wanted the day before we needed them and Debra made sure they put each sandwich in a bag and labeled it with the person's name.
