Lunch at this place was a real treat! We stumbled on to the restaurant on Yelp while we were looking for sandwiches in the area near the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. We found this deli and it had a parking place or two out front so we grabbed one across from the Justice Center. There were lots of lawyers and regulars in here so that told me it was going to be good. It was. In fact, it was excellent! My wife had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and it was to her satisfaction. She remarked about how good it was. I had to Italian sandwich and it was fantastic! I would not change a thing. I checked in on yelp and received complementary bag of chips and a drink with my purchase of a medium sub. So thank you to the Yelp people here in Cleveland for setting that up. We would totally eat here next time we're in town. This place is fantastic!

In town for a conference and found this gem via Yelp! Asked the sandwich maker what he would order if he could only eat here once. SOLID recommendation- chipotle chicken- fresh bread, yummy sauce, warm- crispy.

Visited West 3rd Deli again with my coworkers recently. When I checked in, I received a pop-up window with a coupon for a free side and drink. So I shared it with my co-workers so they could get in on the deal too. I requested a hot Italian sandwich along with chips and a drink. My coworker requested some cheesy fries with bacon. Our food was made immediately to order and was served hot. The fries were overcooked, but they had a decent flavor still. The Italian sub was excellent. The bread is incredible - perfect taste and texture. It was a large sub and very filling. I will be back for more.

Food was super good. Service was polite and funny. And the ambiance felt like a true deli. It was my first time going here but i will definitely be coming back, hopefully for there breakfast menu.

Sub shop across the street from the Justice Center, so a good spot if you're doing jury duty or attending a sporting event downtown. They make a wide array of subs. My mood led to try the chicken parm sub. I added jalapeño and they use a rolling oven to heat the sub. The oven melted the cheese perfectly. The sun was hot and cold tasty. They have several tables for eating there, but most people were grabbing takeout. Staff was attentive and they even brought the sun to my table. Nice. Solid option for a downtown meal. They do close at 4pm, so not a dinner place.

Passed this on my way to Starbucks. I called to make sure they had breakfast sandwiches and they answered the phone right away and were pleasant. I stopped on my way back and got the breakfast sandwich. I chose the bacon, egg, and cheese one. I requested wheat bread instead of the bagel, English muffins, or croissant. He said they only have wheat roll and I got that. He made the egg fresh, added cooked bacon and cheese and put it through a revolving toaster. It was delicious. I would have preferred crispier bacon and I'll request that next time.

I love a good deli! Owner or manager said hello right away and was working with the staff. Small sub is like 6". I had the chipotle chicken, minus the BBQ sauce. Crusty and chewy bread and plenty of chicken. I'll be back.

They just keep placing another brisket on, and the ribbons of beef keep falling. The order counter is tiny, with a line out the door: regulars, tourists like me, and food delivery drivers all waiting their turn. There are meat trimmings everywhere, tubs of pickles, and the sense that the folks behind the counter know exactly what they are doing. The small dining room is packed with people sitting elbow to elbow, gripping massive sandwiches with stadium mustard in the corners of their mouths. It is loud, cramped, messy, and glorious. I've gone to heaven.

I joined the line just before 11 and got inside about 11:50 AM. I'm currently standing in line waiting on my sandwich which is a corned beef melt. I ordered a corned beef melt, which is toasted rye, cornbeef, double Swiss cheese - hot & melted with Kraut on the side and dressing. I got a side of potato pancakes, and also coleslaw. The folks were extremely friendly on the inside, very welcoming and very efficient as they worked to make who knows how many meals. And you'll be glad to know every sandwich comes with a dill pickle, wrapped in its own paper and ready for delicious consumption! The dill is a big deal to me because I like spears, as in the pickle not necessarily (in this case) the pop star! Come early and be ready to wait! The place is really kitchsy and has a great atmosphere. And the folks really make it awesome to be there. It has the feel of a destination restaurant the kind of place that is an experience to visit not just because of the food because of the culture and the people and the phenom that it has become.

The food had always been delicious until this last visit. Given we are regulars at the place, we know the quality of the food has been consistently fantastic and the wait for the food is typical - not too fast or slow - enough to prepare the meal given how busy the place has always been. This last time, however, it was a good 45 minutes before the order came to the table. Neither one of our meals was very good. I was very hypiglycemic by this point and so I ate the french toast that was completely uncooked inside. At first I wasn't thrilled that the bread was considerably smaller than it used to be until i bit into it to find cold wet mush. I should not have eaten it at all. My friend had ordered a patty melt - medium which should be light pink in the center. It was bloody red. She sent it back and about 20 min later it came back exavtly the same. She sent it back again. Another 20 minutes later it came back well done and with spices in the meat that made the meat taste lousy. So now she had a burger that wass over cooked and tasted bad. She didnt gat to eat because by that time we were done. I wish i had turned back the french toast. I kept hoping with every bite it might be cooked. Not one bite was cooked. Not even one. Being hypoglycemic I felt like I would lose my cool if I didnt eat something so I ate. It turns out the place had been bought and the new owner really didnt care. We got to talk to the brother of the new owner who only said that the place has been very busy and that should speak to the quality. He couldnt care less about our experience. All I have to say is that they are going to be losing a lot of money having to replace meals and once people find out about the sudden drop in quality of the food, those peeople that have been filling the place will not be returning as we wont be either. We refuse to go somewhere that the owners could care less about their patrons.

Jack's Deli is an Eastern European/Jewish deli that's been a part of the community since the…read more1980's. The original owner grew up in then Czechoslovakia and brought a part of home to the US. Recently the deli was acquired by the Cleveland Restaurant Group. I've been visiting the deli for over half a decade when I crave Eastern European meals. Lately I've been less enthusiastic about visiting due to food changes. RECENT CHANGES: The deli operations have remained unchanged from the customer standpoint. There is still restaurant area and deli. The menu is the same. The hours of operating were reduced with few dinner times remaining. The food recently drastically worsened seemingly due to ingredients. Soups especially took a hit tasting more artificial. ATMOSPHERE: Casual, old style, mom and pop atmosphere. Most guests are families. The front of the business is a deli where you can order your goodies and pay at the counter. The back is the restaurant where you can get seated by the host who is located by the deli. The layout makes entry and exit challenging. FOOD: I always take my food to go, and never dined at the restaurant. I previously ordered many dishes and to be honest can't remember them all. All were good. As a result, I'll talk about my latest order. - Cabbage Borscht ($11.75 for a quart) - I'm from the country who invented borscht and had many borschts in my life from different countries. This is not borscht. It has no beets. It's a vegetable cabbage soup. The menu does not indicate this is a spicy soup, the receipt indicates "hot cabbage soup." The soup is spicy which borscht never is. Worst of all, there is a very strong hint of canned tomatoes or some tomato paste. I couldn't eat more than two spoons of this soup due to artificial flavor. It's very poorly made. It's hard to name this homemade soup as listed in the menu because of artificial ingredients. Real tomatoes would drastically improve this soup. - Mushroom Barley ($11.75) - The soup wasn't pleasant. It tastes slimy. I think that the problem is the base is some vegetable puree. I didn't enjoy it. - Knishes ($7.90 x 2) - I love knishes here and they taste the same as before. Very heavy on the meat (Rueben in my case) and delicious. To be very honest they don't always feel fresh but I love them just the same. SERVICE: Service is average. The guys at the deli aren't too warm or friendly. The checkout people are always nice. There is clearly some miscommunication between the kitchen and the front of the house. Items are frequently promised but then denied. The front of the house seems to not know at all what's available in the back. There has to be some communication or inventory tool to fix this. It's confusing to the first time customers. It's also confusing to me with every order. PARKING: Plenty of parking available with two entrances and exits. The main entry from Cedar Road is the easiest. Stay vigilant as you navigate the parking lot, there are some narrow parts and alleys with two way traffic. The one differentiating factor of this restaurant was its homemade appeal. Everything tasted like someone's Eastern European grandma shared the recipe and prepared the food. Now the food is tasting commercial and lost its initial appeal. I'll be back to Jack's Deli for the deli (knishes) but won't be ordering any restaurant items again.

When I walked in, I had to settle for an unbelievably delicious scrapple sandwich because they were temporarily out of pastrami. Scrapple with a handmade, red, cabbage, slaw, onion, marmalade, and cheese. So creative and so delicious. My wife had asparagus and fennel soup. The fennel perfectly cut through the richness of the asparagus. Add to this one of the best potato salads I've ever had and it would've been enough. Until Jeremy came over to the table with some fresh pastrami to taste. I don't know where the best pastrami in America is, but whatever it is it's unlikely to be better than this. Good luck. They have a happy hour. We took advantage of that. $10 chicken sandwich and $5 fries. The fries are fresh cut and plenty to share. Super good. I am told the chicken sandwich was good. Chicken was thick and good. Pickles mayo all good. I got the pastrami. Pastrami is sliced thick with slaw and their homemade mustard. Pastrami good. Bread ok. Slaw OK. The homemade mustard was super strong and not that enjoyable. Had a kinda a horseradish taste. Didn't like it at all. Took over the meat. The meat by itself was pretty good. Moist, tender, tastee. But with the whole sandwich not good. Next time I know. And the sandwich for $18 was thick pieces of meat, I think I would have preferred sliced thin and stacked. Kinda like corn beef is. I think I wouldn't have fought eating it so much. Thick slices were awkward and I couldn't eat it cleanly. It was a puzzle that kept falling apart. Had to put it back together and with the mustard was too much for me. I did get a chocolate phosphate. Hadn't had one in a decade. It was good. Paper straw made it impossible to drink the last few sips cuz it can't hold up. We did get a black and white cookie to go and an oatmeal pie. Both really good. Oh and if you see a bakery item get it when you see it. Otherwise it's gone. Ordering dinner I saw a chocolate chip cookie but by the time I went to get it, it was gone. Prices for happy hour were good. But it's not cheap. Our bill was $47 total. That was 2 sandwiches, 1 order of fries, 2 drinks a phosphate and canned drink. No cookies. We got those later. So not cheap. Would I go back. Yes. I feel like I would try something else and give it a shot. I think now I know I'd do better.
