I have never hired a moving service, but am stoked that I hired West Coast Movers to get the move done. I was grappling over prices of moving companies, as they have a 4 hour/4 man minimum, but decided they seemed like the best bet. Anthony, Adam, Chris, and Bryan showed up and were super professional. They weren't afraid to ask any questions as to what stayed and what went, they took all the measures needed to protect my furniture, and were very quick about loading and unloading the truck. I really appreciated that they put everything in the rooms that I wanted them in and were skilled at dis/assembling our bed. They really made the move much less stressful and will use their services again for the next move, if there is one. Great guys and very professional! If I had any complaint, it would be that one of them smoked a cigarette by the garage to our new home and made the house smell like cigarettes for a short while. I still give them a 9.5/10! Before I was able to "make my move" I contacted a variety of movers I found on yelp. After describing my unusual needs, all the other contractors said "I'll call you back with an estimate within 20-30 min", and then never contacted me. But not John. He listened patiently and understood why I needed a huge fish tank stand from Stockton, CA brought to my upstairs apt. in Oakland. He was completely up front with me about the pricing, and let me know I could contact him if I had further questions. When the moving day came, I met my movers, who were on time and also animal lovers. Mark was excellent at maneuvering heavy objects in rather tight spaces, and did it with out any injury to himself or my property. We have moved a lot over the past 10 years. So much so that the Im extremely wary of movers. I was equally wary of West Coast because well...I haven't had luck in the past. I hired them to move us from Alameda County to Marin. To be blunt: they were so good, I'm "almost" tempted to move again. They handled extremely sensitive equipment, the contents of my home, our furniture with such care my dining table should probably give them a tip. I could had contracted other companies that charged less, however, I wanted to be sure I received full high quality service. I was not dissapointed. They came to my home to complete an estimate, then we coordinated a moving date and deposit ammount. They started on time, always keeping me informed of the progress. They packed everything carefully with quality boxes and protection. I had some of my property identified to go to storage and another portion to be delivered to my new apartment. There was a mixup and several boxes were marked to be delivered instead of going to storage. I called them and they promptly corrected the error, picking the boxes and taking them to storage. I used them a year ago to move from San Mateo to San Francisco and I just moved out of the city to American Canyon and the services was just as great as my first experience. This review is 2 yrs late but I'm now going through another move and only just remembered what good service West Coast Movers provided. I scheduled my move from Vallejo to Los Angeles extremely last minute and was repeatedly told from multiple moving companies that they did not have any availability for the long distance move at my requested dates. West Coast also warned me about limited availability but they gave me the fairest price and I decided to go with them anyway. If I recall correctly I was trying to schedule the LA delivery on a Saturday but I tentatively agreed to a Monday delivery date. While on route to LA in my personal car on Friday, I received a phone call from a West Coast representative that I had been in contact with. They said that they knew I was anxious about meeting my intended Saturday delivery date and were able to fit my stuff on their scheduled LA truck for that Saturday! They were reasonably priced, and delivered on the early side of the specified "within 5 days" window. Two pieces of furniture were slightly damaged, but to be fair, my furniture is pretty light weight and cheap, so it was probably pretty easy to damage. They arrived on time for both pick up and delivery and the movers were nice. The pick up movers weren't always wearing their masks, but I believe the delivery movers were. It was very hot in LA for the pick up though, so I can definitely understand wanting to be able to breathe better while carrying heavy loads. read more
