Guardian Animal Aftercare had so many positive great reviews. We called on a Saturday speaking to Caroline who helped us during this difficult time. Answering and informing what we needed to know. That when it was time they would come to our home or vets office ( or bring and deliver ourselves. No thank you ). Our little soldier found peace at 2245 Sunday. VCA asked what we wanted to do with Jackson AKA Mr Pudding. Once we said Guardian Aftercare, they said great and they would pick him up at noon. Guardian didn't know I was there to watch the transfer. It was was very respectful how they transferred from the vet to Guardian vehicle then to the Guardian center. The location your loved one is transported to is in an industrial part of San Fernando. Building on the corner with painted walls with animals on the outside walls. Parking in the back. He was given a QR code so he is tracked while waiting. I spoke with the manager Helen and she was very sympathetic to our pain. We had small requests and they were sooooo nice to accommodate us. We just wanted him to be cremated with his favorite shirt. We opted to get the cast paw print with a snippet of hair next to it. And a black nose print. Also two very nice simple wooden urns. One for us and one for his original handler. All together extremely fair priced. Sad and heart broken, they were amazing in the aftercare for our little man with such class. I was very, very pleased with the care that Guardian Animal Aftercare provided to our beloved King Charles Cavalier, Charlie, after he passed on June 7, 2020. His remains were picked up on the date that was promised from the veterinary office. The Fed Ex truck arrived at our house five days later returning our little guy to us. The shipping box was clearly marked "Fragile/pet remains" on the outside of the box ensuring that the box was handled with care. Charlie's remains were in a beautiful cedar box with a small lock and key, and they enclosed an impression of his paw print returned in a small decorative bag tied with a bow. We felt so much better knowing that Charlie is now home with us. I once had my previous dog cremated by the other company in Sun Valley and Guardian definitely was superior. On the morning of August 4th around 9:30am, I made the call to Guardian Animal Aftercare and spoke with Justin inquiring about their cremation and viewing services (e.g. logistics, payment, availability) subsequent to the phone call that I had made to Choice Veterinary Care. Following the services provided by Choice Veterinary Care and the passing of my beloved angel fur baby Toby Tobias Ko @ 11:11am who entered into Rainbow Bridge Heaven; Toby Tobias Ko was taken to Guardian Animal Aftercare around 12:30pm for preservation preceding the viewing and cremation services for the scheduled morning of August 5th @ 10am. A gentleman met me in the back of the building with a rolling steel table. As I teared, kissed and hugged Tobias; I struggled to let go. He then proceeded to lift Tobias onto the table along with the blankets that I had included with so much sympathy, grace and consideration. Tobias was taken away from me and that was probably one of the hardest moments in my life ... As the morning of August 5th came with great anticipation, I entered into the viewing room @ 10am. There was a beautiful vibrant colorful landscape wall mural painted of grass, trees, mountains and a bright blue sky. Adjoining the mural lay Tobias so peacefully, cleaned, groomed and covered with a soft grey and white trellis baby blanket, his head resting gently on a plush pillow and a gorgeous red fleece blanket situated under his entire body for support and comfort. There was fresh flowers nestled under the blanket and positioned onto the pillow, next to his chest that was parallel to his delicate body. The sounds of water movement from a tabletop waterfall fountain transcended throughout the room. My anxiety and concerns dissipated, I was elated and filled with contentment just knowing that Tobias was treated and handled with so much love, care and compassion. I had personally written a letter from my heart to Tobias which I had placed next to the flowers in addition to some of his favorite treats. A family member ran late due to traffic on the commute from OC to Sun Valley, Guardian Animal Aftercare was thoughtful and gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Once we were ready for the cremation process, we were taken into the back of the facility along with Tobias where we watched Justin and another gentleman place Tobias onto a large metal tray and into a huge furnace where they waited for our cue prior to closing the furnace door and commencing operation. The process would take approximately 2 hours or more and we were given the option to wait in the viewing room or come back later. We left and upon our return, Justin led us to the back where we were able to view Tobias's remains and completely contain his ashes. Guardian Animal Aftercare provided a complimentary beautiful cedar box with Tobias's name engraved attached with a cute locket and key, Tobias's ashes wrapped in a velvet blue bag, his clay paw imprint, his fur clippings, certification of deceased and a condolence letter. I want to personally thank Justin and Guardian Animal Aftercare for going above and beyond, not just for the love and care but for the treatment and handling with respect to Tobias. Not once did any of the staff interfere or rush my family with the viewing and cremation service. Guardian Animal Aftercare was the best decision I made for Tobias. Unfortunately this was the first time going through something like this. Our family had just lost our family dog of 10 years. Thankfully the staff at guardian made this process smooth for us. Okay... if you have to go here, you're really sad. Losing a pet is losing a family member to the majority of us. I had a friend who used this place when her dog passed away. We went there the morning after my sweet cat passed away. It was a Sunday and Cody was there to answer all of our questions, and if there was anything we didn't get answered completely, he said he would have Helen call me the following day. I had a lot of questions: how do you KNOW they're legit? how do you know they still have your animal once they've taken their body? how do you know you're getting YOUR animal back? how do you KNOW they aren't being thrown out and ashes of something else is given to you...? This would be an easy business to NOT do the right thing, and how would anyone know??? On Monday I spoke with Helen, who could not have been more pleasant and understanding about this difficult time and the questions I had. As 'morbid' as it is, I asked her if I could come down sometime to see the back room and how they do things. I HAD TO. I needed to know I would be getting MY cat back. She DID NOT HESITATE to say yes, please come down that day. So I did. They do not do cremations on Mondays, so that was the perfect day to come by, although she said they welcome clients ANY day for a tour if they would like. The back room did not have animals ready for cremation since it was Monday, but they do have a large refrigerator and a large freezer to keep them in. She showed me the "individual cremation" machine. She had told me over the phone that it is actually 5 chambers, but they are completely separate from each other, so you know you are getting just your animal's remains back. Seeing it in person, while not pleasant to think about, absolutely put my mind at ease. Once I could see for sure that my cat would be cremated solo, I felt a lot better about the whole process. She also showed me their computer system and how each animal has a QR code tag on them. That QR code is scanned BEFORE any step is performed. Their system does not allow anything to happen if the step before has not happened yet. For example: if someone takes your animal to do the cremation, but the paw prints have not been made yet, they would scan the QR code and it would basically say "NO! STOP!" I asked Helen if she had been in the refrigerator before and was okay with it. She said yes she had been in many times. I then asked if she would mind going in and taking a picture of my cat in her little pillow. I said I don't need to see her head or a detailed photo, I just need to know she is in there. She said no problem and came back and showed me a photo on her phone of my sweet girl. I HAD to ask. I had to know she was there where they said she was. I advocated for her entire life for her. I had to still do that now until I got her home. I don't post reviews often, but I felt like I had to for this. I can tell my friends and family that THIS is the place to use when you lose an animal and want to have them cremated. I can tell them with complete certainty that they take very good care of your animal's remains, they are polite and respectful, and have ZERO reservations about you coming in to see their facility. If any place does, or says sure, you can come in in 2 or 3 days, don't use them, go here. I felt I did what many people probably don't want to do, and that's why I had to post this, in case it helps a hard decision become a little easier. It's weird seeing the machine that your animal's remains will go into... but I had to know everything was what they said it was. And it was. I urge you to call them or visit if you have any questions. If you go by on a cremation day and want to see the back, you will see animals back there who have passed away, but peace of mind is important. read more

My precious bunny passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at 12:40am at the care of Access/City of Angels Animal Hospital. I was beyond distraught. Access works with Guardian Animal Aftercare for their cremation services. Everything is done through the hospital. You fill out the paperwork at the hospital and pay the hospital directly. The hospital sends your pet to the crematorium for you. The crematorium does their service and your pet's remains are mailed to you via FedEx. They package everything very thoughtfully and with care. I did have a problem where I did add on the custom paw print at an additional $30 charge. I did not receive my paw print. This was not the crematorium's fault. The hospital failed to check the box necessary to let Guardian know that I wanted it. When I called to ask if the paw print was sent separately, the man on the phone was very kind and explained why the print wasn't made. I knew there was no way to get one since my bunny was ash. I was sad, but understood it was not their fault. The man was very kind. I feel that the price is actually reasonable for what the service includes. Your pet is returned to you in a cedar wood urn. Your pet will have an engraved name plate on the top with their name. The hardware is gold and has an included gold lock and keys. Inside, your pet's remains are put in a zip top bag (to keep them safe) with a sticker attached that verifies your pet's name and that is placed in a nice velvet bag for safe keeping. On top of the velvet bag, there is a poem printed on cardstock. The presentation is quite nice and it makes you feel that your pet was loved to end, even by strangers. You will receive a letter from the crematorium offering condolences and possible therapies if necessary. You also receive a certificate that your pet was individually cremated. My normal vet works with a different crematorium. I can say that this crematorium takes more care than the previous one I worked with. They are upfront with all costs and what you should expect to receive. read more

We wanted an individual cremation for our greyhound with Guardian after VCA's recommendation. I've had another greyhound who passed 3 years ago in SF (adopted at the same time than Trigger in Europe). I feel that I didn't have the same options and she was sent far away for cremation. Been meaning to write this review but I was still in mourning/grieving mode from the loss of my beloved pet soul mate. My fur-baby meant the world to me and she still does.My husband and i couldn't decide whether to have her buried at a pet cemetery or cremated. We finally made the decision for cremation knowing she would always want to be with us and her remains will always be with us no matter where we move. We were thinking of going with a different company but we decided to go with Guardian Animal Aftercare since the vetenarian hospital recommended them. Plus I had seen on yelp that they offered a viewing service before cremation just like for humans before burial. We called and made the reservations for them to pick up my pet's body from the hospital and set up the date of cremation with a viewing service the morning before the cremation process. The day of the service my husband and I woke up early to make sure we would pick up her viewing service flowers on time when my husband received a phone call from Guardian aftercare. The man was apologetic that there had been a mistake. The technician had accidently cremated my fur-baby the evening before! They stated the technician did not go over the notes. I understand there is always going to be human error and mistakes but this mistake should never be made. How can someone put a pet's body for cremation without going over the notes? And if the technician did not go over the notes how did they know what type of cremation I wanted? ( private, individual, mass). In the past year and half I have lost 2 of my darling dogs. Both of these special creatures lived to ripe ages and then to be as good to them as they were to me, I had a vet come to my home and put them to rest, in peace. At this point, I was not sure what to do with them and then I remembered that Dr. Audra Mackorkle had a cremation service: Guardian. I lost my older female first so this was the first time I called Guardian. The guy couldn't have been more warm and kind on the phone. He was very sensitive about ordering the whole pickup process and then gently gave me the choices of cremation (group, individual, etc.). What I like about them is that they are extremely careful to keep your pets ashes separate from anyone else's if you've ordered individual cremation and also, they have the ashes blessed which I really appreciate although both pets were blessings already :) The ashes were then deilivered to my home in a tasteful wooden box with a brass placard engraved with her name on it and then a prayer inside. It meant so much and felt good to see this. In having such a caring experience with Guardian when my older female, I called on them again a few years later when I lost my second dog to old age and it was equally kind and caring service. I believe I paid around $300 for each dog to be cremated and delivered to me. It was well worth it and I would recommend them to anyone who is going through the difficult process of losing a loved pet and searching for a trustworthy and caring place to pick up their remains and handle them with dignity. I just recently lost my kitty. She had been with me for over 20 years. That is longer than some friends or even for some family. She was my family. I can't begin to express the gratitude my family and I have for Guardian Aftercare. Gabriel, Sue and Mark helped us with this most difficult and painful time. In the past two months we have had to say goodbye to three of our beloved doggie companions. They had lived full and long lives and it was time to let them go. My sweet hamster Maple died Monday March 9th at 12:20pm She was only 1 year and 11 months old...These wonderful people came and picked her up by 2:30pm so I didn't have to drive her there in my condition. I was very emotional when the man got to my house to pick her up and he was very understanding and polite about it. We picked up her ashes Saturday the 14th and I am very pleased with the level of respect they gave my baby. They did not treat her as "just a hamster" but as a member of our family which she was. The hardest thing to do is take your beloved pet to be cremated. My cat Tootie passed away at home in the middle of the night on a weekend. Guardian was the only crematorium open on a Sunday morning. They were very helpful. They offered to stay open late if I was having difficulty bringing her. Once there, they asked if I needed time with her in a condolence room. Included in the price was a lovely cedar box with a name plaque, a very nice condolence note from the staff, and a TSA certificate in case I need to take her on a plane. Our family dog, Bella, passed away of cancer at age 8. We were all devastated, but my mom was hysterical. This little love dog was her baby and she spent every day and night taking care of her. The staff is very professional and caring during a very difficult time. We had our pot belly pig cremated here and the staff walked us through the entire process with empathy, dignity, respect, and compassion. They called us on the morning that we were having our pet euthanized and expressed sympathy and to let us know that they knew she was coming and had everything ready. We had a hoof print made and it was beautifully done, they even made sure we got the ribbon color that we wanted. I lost my sweet dog last week unexpectedly and the vet works with this cremation company. I was so devastated but felt so much better knowing our little guy had an individual cremation. We picked up his ashes at the vet a week later and though it felt like a punch in the stomach, the beautiful wooden box and plaque were so nice. His ashes we placed inside a plastic bag that was labeled and placed into a velvet draw string bag. We also received a certificate which listed the date of his cremation and his name. Not sure what we'll do with the ashes eventually but for now our sweet boy is back home and we recommend this facility to anyone else facing this sad event. read more

Preggy is my first pawfriend that passed so naturally, I had no idea what to do. I found Guardian through Yelp and I'm so glad I did. My dad is still grieving for her loss, so my sister and I opted for the communal cremation, which means Preggy's ashes will be scathered in Marina del Ray instead of being memorialized in an urn. When we got there, we had Preggy wrapped in a blanket and a bag. The staff person asked us if we would like to pay our last respects. He offered to lay her on the table for us. What we didn't expect was him putting Preggy nicely on a bed with flowers and a blanket that made her look like she was just sleeping peacefully. He was very cordial and understanding. It was a great experience and I am glad that Preggy crossed the Rainbow Bridge loved and with dignity. read more
