Visiting Stoughton from Arizona for a weeklong family reunion vacation we were famished after our flight and were told to try the West End Grill. We wanted to watch Thursday night football and found two seats at the bar. It was evident that this was a favorite of locals, we enjoyed the banter around the bar. I had to get my first New England fix and started with a bowl of the clam chowder, it was creamy, loaded with juicy chunks of clams and potatoes, perfection, not the usual overly thick chowder you too often find. We shared the lightly battered, crispy calamari appetizer topped with peppers and a Thai chili sauce, very flavorful. Coming from the desert we continued our seafood feast with scrod, perfectly baked, light, flaky with crunchy toasted breadcrumbs, a rich, tart butter sauce was drizzled over the fish, I did request some more sauce to dip the bites of fish in. We washed all down with local draft brews. Service was friendly and although the bar was very busy, the bartenders and server assistant ensured everyone was taken care of. We have a family wedding to attend next year and we will make the West End Grill is at the top of our list to visit. read more

Might not be a star restaurant, however, we've been going for 7+ years since we moved to the area and it's CONSISTENTLY very good service and very good food. I usually get any of the seafood (scallops and fish and chips), but my favorite is the beef short ribs. Never had a bad dish, cocktail, or server. Food always arrives promptly and hot. This place wasn't all that memorable for me. I was in town on business and looking for low carb options. As I recall, their wings were breaded and boneless so I passed on those. I went with a bunless burger which was fine. Nothing about the place was bad but my server didn't seem to be of much help with accommodating my request. So I had gone to a meeting in Randolph yesterday and me along with 5 other people googled restaurants nearby. At first walking in I wasn't sure about it, kind of dark and nothing special about it. I'm so glad I didn't leave based on first impressions. The food and our adult beverages were amazing. Will definitely be going there again. Went out to dinner with my wife. She started with an espresso martini. The appetizer was Nachos, can't remember the last time we had them. Very good and loaded! She chose the Blackened Salmon, with asparagus, a good-sized portion of salmon! Cooked perfectly, my wife is not a big seafood fan so she was out of her comfort zone however she was extremely happy with her choice! I had the Seafood Pappardelle, little necks in the shell, lobster and crab meat, scallops and shrimp wrapped in prosciutto smothered in an Alfredo sauce! No room for dessert! The bartenders are well schooled and courteous and the experience has always been consistent. It may have the trappings a ubiquitous sports bar and grill but you will gEt Capital Grille quality on the ingredients and care of preparation. This place was right across the street from my hotel, so it made sense to eat here instead of the Popeye's next door. I read the mixed reviews on Yelp and figured I would find out on my own. Very nice interior, comfortable space, good sized bar. Limited tap list, and I mean limited. They had one, count 'em one, craft beer on tap (I don't count Yuengling, Sam, or Shocktop as craft). If there was a can/bottle list, it wasn't offered to me. The waitress was nice, and very attentive, she stopped by several times to ask how I was doing, can I get you anything, etc., so I had zero complaints with the level of service. The food was okay, and just okay. I had a side Caesar salad to start, and that was pretty good; a little too much dressing, but pretty good. Chicken Florentine was on the specials list and so I ordered it. Meh. Serious meh... The chicken had very little flavor to it, neither did the sauce. The spinach looked fresh, the tortellini was good that it sat under. But the cheese that topped it was the shredded kind you find in the supermarket, because it hadn't fully melted. I ate it, because I was hungry, but it was nothing special. I'll try a burger the next time I stay here and update my review. read more

Very nice place much bigger than you would think from the street. Real nice selections from the menu , many offerings with local seafood , steaks, salads etc.. Great selections of wide screen TV's set up throughout. Every seat should have a good view ! Would be a great place to watch a game. Tried their wedge salad with steak tips - Outstanding ! Wow... What else can I say? I ordered the short ribs with mixed veggies. The meat was so tender than I didn't even need the knife at all. The veggies were crispy, but not in that annoying undercooked way. They were perfect. My best friend moved here from Germany almost a year ago. He said the West End Salad is honestly the best chicken salad he's ever had in the US. And the table bread reminded him of the brütchen from Germany. Lol it was pretty good bread. My other friend ordered the eggplant parm. He said the eggplant was crispy, not greasy at all, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious.
