This place is the best seafood in the area. Period. The fish is fresh, the owner is knowledgeable and attentive and she goes out of her way to ensure quality food and service. My favorites are the fish tacos and fish sandwich, which I enjoy eating in the summer out on the patio. It's also my go to spot for taking home some fresh fish to prepare at home. I happened to stumble upon this hidden gem by coincidence and boy am I glad I gave this place a shot! Being a total city girl, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and a dozen raw littleneck clams. I wasn't too thrilled about the wait time for food, but I'll cut this place some slack as there were only two employees manning the restaurant (one cashier and one in the kitchen). (A group sitting next to us cracked open some beers while waiting.. Good idea. I'll definitely do the same if I happened to be around during the warmer months). Final verdict? My stomach was super happy and the price range was not bad at all! This is the only place I will eat fish from, I'm ridiculously picky when it comes to seafood, and this place never disappoints! Everything is extremely fresh, well seasoned, and excellently cooked. Because it is so fresh, and cooked to order, the wait times can be a bit long during peak time, but I honestly feel it's worth the wait. They just remodeled, and the expanded kitchen and retail area look great. Beat me over the head with a fresh whole salmon! I live only a few miles from West Shore Seafood and for years, I drove past and never ate there! Well, this afternoon my Sister and I went there for an early supper. Now, I am very fussy when it comes to seafood. I had several questions for the pretty young lady that I needed answers too before I ordered. All were answered to my total satisfaction thanking her for her patience. I chose the whole fried belly clam platter with fries, and Cole slaw. It was beyond delicious! Very tasty. The breading was perfect. Fries were crisp and tasty, their homemade slaw complemented the dinner. All their fish is "fresh", delivered several times a week. We got there at about 5:00 PM and within a half hour, most all the tables were full! They do not offer indoor dining, but there is seating with umbrellas and a large canopy area. Very comfortable. The work area was impeccably clean with a lot of shiny stainless. All the staff were very friendly, and were neatly dressed and wearing hats and gloves. I regret having missed this little gem all these years. As much as I love my seafood, I told them I will be coming here often. As far as the prices go, they are very reasonable. They also sell seafood, and cooked orders to take home. Plenty of parking space, with nice landscaping both around the parking area and potted flowers neat the dining area. I recommend West Shore Seafood if you love seafood, you won't find any better between here and the briny coast if Maine! I award West Shore Seafood 5 out of 5 Golden Buoy Awards!! If you are looking for a spot to fulfill your fried seafood craving, this is definitely the spot to go. We ordered the fried clam strips, crabcake sandwich, and a hot dog for my niece. The fries that it came with were on point! Sometimes you get fried seafood full of batter and not enough filling. Not here though! The batter was just a thin coating and there was so much clam inside. The fact that it is a roadside spot is the icing on the cake. The service is horrific and has been for years, but after a recent incident we will not be returning. I simply followed up on the status of my order for a piece of fish and the owner ran out and screamed at me for not ordering 24 hours in advance and basically threw the fish at me and stormed off. We have been customers for 6 years and have always put up with the service. But, now we will never return after after being treated horribly. We contacted the fish distributor who conveniently was in the parking lot and they deliver to bantam market down the road as well, so we will take our business there. read more

Very large portion of whole belly clams and oysters and the salmon entre was cooked to perfection. Kinda disappointed yet again with the food from here. I've given it several chances and it's really just not good. The clam chowder should not have the word clam in it because there are no clams in it except for a clam remnant every other spoon full for or so. It should be called potato chowder because that's essentially what it is. Fried oysters where more like breaded not crispy at all. Fried shrimp was good, clam strips and whole bellies are mediocre. "Onion rings" aren't onion rings they are onion straws that literally turn soggy as soon as they leave the fryer. I don't envision myself giving this place another shot nor recommend it. It is a cool place situated in a nice area that's perfect for a Saturday or Sunday drive but not worth going to for the food. read more

Looks cute, but a total disaster. I give it one star for its cute and kitschy setting. We placed a super easy order of essentially ready-made fried items and it took 1 hour + and our food still was not ready. The Manager could care less and said waiting 1.5 hours is not a big deal on a summer night and we should just enjoy a cocktail (which they don't even serve - no liquor license). Due to her nonchalant attitude the kitchen staff comprised of kids (I am sure hard working), did not seem in a rush to get orders completed. The portions that I did see come out of the kitchen looked small and uncomplicated. I hope they get it together because it was clear they lost many customers tonight! read more

I have been here many times recently and absolutely loved the food. I also found the staff to be really nice and pleasant (and I especially enjoyed one day in September when one of the young girls working starting singing--she really has talent!). The clam chowder was something I'd expect to find at a school cafeteria if they tried to prepare it; very very starchy, and tasted like water. The whole belly clams were very gamey, More-so than they should be. Crappy portion for $22 worth, too. My brother's fish and chips had great texture, but managed to lack flavor. The baja fish tacos are the way to go when ordering at West Shore Seafood. Well priced, fresh, and pack a punch of flavor. A definite fan favorite and must have in the summer months. BYOB is a nice touch. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy as it's a very popular spot with the locals. There's a decent amount of picnic tables and even some lawn games set out to help past the time. If you're feeling fancy bring a table cloth and some candles, lots of people do and it helps to improve the atmosphere as well. Great place to spend a summer night. read more

I think it needed more mayo. The fried needed to be a little more crispy. The shrimp tacos were the same. The shrimp resembled something pulled from the freezer and not freshly breaded and fried. Cole slaw was not good at all, it had more of a vinegar base versus mayo. The New England clam chowder had too many herbs, but not the worst. I would give it another shot because it is a cute place and the food wasn't the worst. The food is really good, as good as I've ever had at cape cod or the ct shoreline. But the place is so disorganized. Due to the pandemic they've started a "curbside" service. The idea is that you park on the right side of the building and someone will come out and take your order or get your food if you've called ahead. In theory that should work. In practice it fails miserably. I phoned in an order on Saturday night and was told it would be an hour before I could pick it up. No problem. I waited the hour, drove over and parked in the right side lot. There were about eight cars there waiting but parked so badly that there was barely room for me to get my car off the road. Still, that's ok, people are lousy at parking when there are no painted lines. But here's where the fun starts. After about 20 minutes of waiting the door opens and a server brings out an order. She then turns around immediately and goes back in, not even looking to see if any new cars, like me, had entered the lot. Fifteen minutes later, the door opens again and another order comes out. Once again the server turns around and runs back in, head down.noticing nothing. But this time I noticed the people she had served were waiting for change. So I left my car and camped out near the door, eliminating any benefit of "curbside" service. She brought the change back out and started back inside but this time a group of customers had formed near the door and begged for some attention. I spoke up and gave my name and she went inside. My order was done, had been getting cold and soggy for the half hour of waiting, but at least I got it. I was the envy of the gathering mob. If you're going to provide this service, do it in an organized way, so everyone who pulls into this too small lot is spoken to in a reasonable time. Look a round. If there's another car, chances are there's another customer in it. Clams and onion rings are not so good cold. read more

We are from the shoreline in Ct. I say the lobster bisque today, was short on lobster like there were micron specs of lobster meat. We get the hot buttered lobster rolls often (maybe weekly in the summer) and they are ALWAYS great and STUFFED with delicious, perfectly cooked lobster. We also are in love with the onion rings. They only offer outside seating and it is limited and this place is getting more popular by the minute... we usually order to go so we don't get shut out. We had the worst experience over the weekend. We were never told how long the wait would be, I expected maybe 20-25 minutes. We waited an hour and 15 minutes!
