My husband and I were craving steakhouse burgers, so we decided to give West Texas Chophouse a try. Upon arrival, we noticed the restaurant was nearly empty, which was already a concerning sign. There was no host/hostess at the front to seat us, so we waited until someone finally noticed us standing there. Once seated, our waiter promptly brought water, a to-go cup for our baby, and a high chair, and this was the extent of the good customer service we received. We ordered the potato skins, assuming they would be loaded based on the description. Our waiter mentioned something about them being "chips," but he walked away mid-sentence, and we didn't fully catch it. When the appetizer arrived, they were potato skin chips with sour cream for dipping, not what we expected. Clearer menu labeling or photos would help prevent confusion in the future. For our entrees, I ordered Alejandro's Favorite Burger, cooked medium rare with onion rings, and my husband ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger, also medium rare with steak fries. We planned to share the burgers to try both. However, when mine arrived, it unexpectedly had two patties. The top patty was well done, and the bottom patty was medium-well, which was far from the requested medium rare. My husband's burger was overcooked, nearly well done. Both burgers were bland and unseasoned, and my husband's burger was extremely dry. Even our baby, who typically loves burgers, refused to eat it. My husband specifically ordered his burger for the crispy onion strings, which arrived cold, as if prepared earlier in the day. Overall, these were some of the worst burgers we have had. While our waiter was polite, his service was inconsistent. Several times he asked questions like, "Is everything okay?" but walked away before completeing the sentence, making it impossible to respond. Additionally, I was very concerned about hygiene. When our waiter refilled our water cups, the straws, which had been in our mouths, touched the inside of the water pitcher. This was extremely unsanitary, and I could not continue drinking the water. It also concerned me that our baby had already consumed some of the water that was initially brought out when we were seated. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. We had hoped to enjoy the restaurant and potentially return to try their dry-aged steaks, which are prominently displayed in the front. Unfortunately, given their inability to properly cook a burger, we do not feel confident in returning. If you want a good burger, you would be better off going across the street to Yard House or even Five Guys. read more

When I came here the last time, I didn't get to try what I wanted to the first time around because I was on a time crunch to catch a flight. However, I didn't have a flight to catch this time!!! I really really wanted the bbq feast, which included the brisket, pork ribs and either a sirloin steak or chicken (got the sirloin) and 3 sides. We picked the corn brûlée, cilantro rice and fries. I'm so happy I got this meal. It was exactly what I wanted. The brisket is so soft and tender. You get so much satisfaction in every bite. I personally felt it needed bbq sauce though so I asked for that as well. Tasted great with it. This was my mom's favorite. She loved how soft it was. I love how the rub on the pork ribs tasted and how tender they were. Really solid!!! Would definitely get this again!!! But I do love my ribs... My mom enjoyed these a lot too. The sirloin was cooked really well and tasted good. There was a dip on the table to put it in, but I don't recall what it is called by memory. It's a familiar taste, but I didn't ask specifically what it was. That goes well with the steak though. My mom thinks the steak came out well too and enjoyed it. For the sides, you only get to pick from 5 instead of the 10 or so that they have with this meal, so there was no Mac and cheese. Boo. But to make up for it, the corn brûlée was fantastic. It's warm, savory, flavorful, and comforting. Love it. The cilantro rice is really good too and has a taste that you don't find too often in places. It's like similar but better than Chipotle's rice. A little bit more tangy maybe? The fries are fries. I don't think my mom had any opinions about the sides. If she did, she kept them to herself. You can get as much warm bread as you want, and what makes the brisket even better is putting it in between the bread and turning it into a sandwich. Yum!!! My mom got a coffee. I was surprised to see it came in a French press. I haven't drank coffee in a long time so I don't know how that tasted and didn't ask my mom. We got to watch the Super Bowl, which was nice, on a really big tv. The Seahawks won, so a lot of my friends in Seattle should be really happy! Absolutely incredible steakhouse. I'd put it up against some of the more expensive ones in Vegas. The quality of meat is top-notch. We ordered the filet mignon and ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection. They were both juicy, tender, and flavorful. The baked potatoes were also delicious. My next order will include the tomahawk steak. Overall, it was a great experience. The prices are fair and the food is incredible. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is comfortable. Not too fancy but also above the diner feel. I have to say this was my first time at a West Texas chophouse, and was not really sure what to expect. The exterior of the building is beautiful in the interior is very nice, clean and modern as well. Went in for lunch on a Wednesday, only saw a few people inside, and we had to flag a waiter down to get us seated. Not sure what that was about. But we got a booth and ordered lunch. He ordered a steak lunch, and I ordered the chicken alfredo. I will say this, the sweet tea was pretty good. They brought out some bread for us to snack on and some honey butter which was a very nice touch. It seemed like it took a while for our food to get here, and when my Alfredo showed up. I could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while as the Alfredo sauce had started to harden on the noodles. Regardless, I Dove in. The flavors were pretty good, and it was a solid lunch for the price you pay Bottom line? Was it the best place I've ever eaten at? No. Was it a decent value for the money? Yeah, I'd say so. Denise was our server and she did an amazing job, from explaining to how we were supposed to eat the bone marrow (never had it before, don't judge us) to menu recommendations, she was great. We got our West Texas Feast with the medium rare Porterhouse, the grilled chicken breast and the sirloin. I will say, the steaks were well cooked BUT ask for salt, the meat needed it. The chicken was juicy and had a nice char flavor on it, no complaints there. The sides, mashed potatoes and charro beans were good, nothing to write home about, but that corn brûlée?? Perfection. It's like an elote's sweeter cousin, creamy, salty, slightly crunchy because the brûlée topping, delightful. The burger was overcooked and not as great, and pretty basic. The brisket Mac and cheese, brisket was tender and had a bark, the Mac and cheese was nice and creamy, it was well executed. The bone marrow! It made for an interesting experience but I think it would have been better with some kind of bread, maybe? I just don't think tacos were the right form of eating it. That being said, super rich with a hearty, meaty flavor. Alright, lastly, the carrot cake. It was delicious, plain and simple, moist and not too sweet. Very nice decor. I particularly liked the steer heads and wine wall. We arrived early in the day, so the restaurant was a bit empty, very clean and extremely spacious. The waitress who served our table went by the name Jay and she provided fantastic customer service. We ordered the- 6OZ. SIRLOIN: Cooked to your liking and served with a West Texas baked potato. SEASONED PANKO CRUSTED TILAPIA: Fried tilapia fillet served with cilantro rice. The baked potato was good. The sirloin was cooked the perfection. Medium well as specified. The cilantro rice was flavorful and prepared well. The tilapia which I'm a huge fan of by the way, unfortunately lacked flavor in this case. I've had the tasty fish prepared in numerous ways in the past, but never quite like this. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. Both of which sound like pretty good features, which they were. I had no issue with the texture. It's just the meat was just void of any real flavor. So, in summation... Will I try the tilapia again?, certainly not. I would, however, revisit the restaurant in the future, to try other tasty sounding menu items. read more

We decided on a meal from this steakhouse for my birthday weekend. It definitely did not disappoint. We ordered ahead, so when we arrived the parking lot was fairly empty but well lit. The service was quick since we ordered take out. We had to request someone come to the counter for assistance but they were beginning to close. However, when we did get someone to the counter, she was pleasant and offered us rolls LOL. I thought it was endearing. The interior is dim but nicely lit. It was very clean and quiet. We wanted steak so we made a reservation at West Texas Chophouse because it's close to us and we wanted to try something new. Walking in, I was a bit upset. I made a reservation, but got placed in the bar, and did not get the ambiance of the main dining room and the supposedly pretty tree. Our reservation was early, and the dining room (and the bar area) was mostly empty, so it was really frustrating to be sat in the bar. Especially since, not only were we placed in the bar, but we were placed right next to the takeout area, right past plenty of empty tables. Annoying. I was angry. Luckily, our server was really great, even if a bit green. He was super friendly and attentive, and he seemed to really want us to have a good experience. He made good recommendations and ensured that our preferences were held up (we have a no cilantro person in our midst). I think he was a little green because of small little things that I'm sure he'll get used to, like bringing the share plates BEFORE we get our appetizer/meal and replacing silverware that has been taken away. Our server was great, but I will admit the highlight was the food. I thought it was great, and absolutely worth the price. I would not call this place overpriced, and the value was really evident with the portion sizing. We ended up sharing a tomahawk and sides. The meat was cooked perfectly, had great flavor and was suuuuuper tender. The wedge salad was large with great flavor and the steak fries were beautifully crispy and just the right amount of salty. The real star here though was the bone marrow. I've never had bone marrow with tortillas, so I saved some bread for it. Turns out, corn tortillas and bone marrow are *chef's kiss,* and a combination I didn't know I loved until coming here. The peach bread pudding was also super good, moist and flavorful, and really large. The four of us almost didn't finish this dessert but it was so good we found a way to fit it in. LOL!!! And last but not least, at a place like this, I order cocktails but don't expect them to be that great. Shockingly enough, the cocktails are really good! Balanced and flavorful, with good strength to them. I was pleasantly surprised. So my husband and I have been to this establishment numerous times, mostly for lunch. I highly recommend the Asadero Green Chili Burger! It is so delicious! They give you a green chili a whole one attached to the top of the bun with a toothpick and it is very delicious by itself. I have ordered extra to take home. I can't say enough good about this burger. Their hamburger meat is excellent. Now on to our visit yesterday. We decided to try the dinner menu. We got the pork ribs and we're not impressed. It's not that they tasted bad the price was $33 which is way overpriced. I got chicken tortilla soup. It was so salty I had to send it back. The waiter actually knew before I even said it that it was salty . He knew that I was going to say it, so they're aware of that. Which you would think they would correct the salt level knowing this. I got the Poblano cream soup to replace it. It also was salty but not bad enough I couldn't eat it. What I will say about this soup is it would be excellent as a sauce over grilled chicken breast. I had a salad today and added some to my dressing which was delicious. It would also be good tossed with pasta. So I would order one and take it home and experiment. I think it's better for those types of things than as the soup. Overall we are happy with this restaurant. It was pretty slow in there so if you could patronize them and get that burger and help them out that would be great. You really won't be disappointed in their burgers. read more

Service was fine - not spectacular, not terrible, but ok for the price point. Disappointed with the food preparation - a restaurant with "Chophouse" in the name should own a meat thermometer and be able to pull off a medium rare Filet without too much difficulty. Their first attempt was like shoe leather - server took it back and replaced it quickly, obviously too quickly, as the steak was barely rare. At this point, we had been there for an hour or so, finished our sides, etc., so no real interest in waiting around for a 3rd attempt. Too bad. My husband and I went to the Henderson, Nevada location. It was our first visit at a West Texas chophouse. I completely forgot to take pictures of our food. For appetizers we got the steak nachos and the sautéed . Both were delicious! My husband got a bloody Mary and I got a smoked . They were both outstanding. For our meals, my husband got T-bone with baked potato and corn brûlés. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious with homemade steak sauce! I got poblano cream soup and a side salad. The soup was fantastic! I definitely want that again! After dinner, I tried dessert in the desert, and it was delicious! Rene was our server. She was outgoing, super friendly, professional, cheerful, and pleasant! She took the time to explain the answers to Our many questions!
