They've got multiple bagel options; there's something for every bagel lover--sweet, savory, cheesy, spicy. They also have sprinkle cookies, Chinese cookies, crumb cakes, and other sweet breads. I ordered an egg a la bagel for my husband and me--your choice or meat/bagel plus, cheese, and egg. My husband and I got everything jalapeño cheese bagels and added cream cheese. I use to live in Chatsworth and this was a family favorite that we had ingrained into our morning routine. I'll start by saying this probably is not the best bagel location in town but I believe the locals keep coming back here for a reason. My most resent adventure to this location was after a surgery in LA. They say you shouldn't eat a bunch of food after you are operated on but......boooooyyyy I was a craving this!!!! From the moment we parked, I could see at least 10-15 people waiting inside. With so many bagel choices the types of sandwiches you can creat make it worth the wait. They also have cinnamon twist, sweet pastries, and their world famous bagel chips available. There is also a Starbucks coffee next door which really is the perfect pairing. This location is very hit or miss. Sometimes they make my order right, but often they do not. I've also had issues with showing up to pick up an order and it is not ready/they didn't get the request. I usually try to make the extra drive over to the one on Plummer. They aren't much better but my order is always ready when I get there. Bad experience. Bad service. Bad hygiene practice. Woman who helped me was rushing me. I came in with my partner who told her his order before heading out to the Starbucks next door while I thought about what to order. She didn't right down the order. She was not prepared for someone who is so quick to rush guests. So I had to wait for him to get back to order again. She then wrote it down. She is then preparing our order, asks me if I wanted everything on my Chicken Italian Panini. I understand it can be difficult to hear people with masks sometimes. Tell me why they told me they have no vegan options when I went there when 95% of their bagels are vegan and they have vegan cream cheese. I later find out that they do have vegan options so started getting bagels, absolutely delicious. Definitely my go to bagel joint in the valley. However, be warned that Saturday mornings do get quite busy and parking is scarce. This specific branch of Western Bagel is located on Mason and Devonshire within a small center with a Starbucks and dry cleaning service. I tend to often come here when I get a car wash next door. My go to depends on my mood. I am a huge fan of the roasted turkey sandwich (made fresh daily) on an everything bagel with Swiss cheese. When I feel like switching it up, I get the everything bagel with cream cheese (light on the cream cheese) with tomatoes and cucumbers. The lox bagel is also worth the try. There are several Western Bagel shops in the valley. This one is my favorite. It's physically smaller than other shops, but they have have the best tasting and most consistent everything cheese bagels. Located adjacent to a Starbucks (so is the Plummer one actually), so if I'm trying to treat myself, this is a convenient stop to grab a coffee and a bagel. This place is more populated than the one on Plummer near the mall. They can run out of bagels sometimes, especially closer to their closing time. Like all the other Western Bagels, they make their own cream cheese. Their cream cheese is definitely better than store bought cream cheese (like Philadelphia). There are many different flavors, but can be kind of pricey. A small container of cream cheese is more than $5. If you order your bagel with cream cheese, ask for less cream cheese. If you let them smear the cream cheese without saying anything, they load the bagel with too much. If you're not careful, you can squeeze out huge globs of cream cream when you try to take a bite. The one thing I hate about Western Bagel is that they nickel and dime you. They will charge you to slice your bagel. They will charge you to toast their bagels. I've lived in other parts of the state (where Western Bagel does not exist), and those bagels were never comparable to Western Bagel, ever. Everyone I introduce the everything cheese bagel to, loves it. Some even become Western Bagel addicts, needing to make a stop every time we enter the valley. read more

I've never really had bad service at the Chatsworth Western Bagel until today. It was busy, which is fine. I was with a friend, from out of the country, the next customer was called, which was us. The person behind the counter, SEAN, asked what our order was, I double checked with my friend what he wanted since his English isn't good. When I went to make the order, SEAN, had already called the next customer. I told him that I was next and ready to order, he looked at me and said, "I've already taken this other person's order." It's really sad, I've been coming to this location for nearly 20 years now. The young people that work here need to be properly trained on how to handle food. You cannot go from sweeping and handling trash to just grabbing a pair of gloves to put on to make a bagel. You need to wash your hands first before putting on gloves, otherwise, you're simply touching the outer portion of the glove that directly makes contact with my food with your fingers they were just handling trash and sweeping the floor. You would think that in today's day and age, with all of the different things going around the world, that they would be better trained on how to properly handle food. I already had contacted corporate back in November 2021 regarding an issue like this, but they seem to not really care as nothing ever gets done. The staff has always been quick and friendly. The price and quality is competitive overall. I hate the parking lot. It is located right next to a Starbucks which makes getting in and out of this lot a complete mess especially during the breakfast rush. I've tried their pizza bagel which is good sometimes too saucy but does give you the option of dipping your excess bread in the saucy droplets. I typically go for a breakfast bagel ($5) which comes with your choice of bagel with your choice of cheese, egg, and ham. Huh. This place has some seriously weird vibes. The lady preparing the bagels was curt and seemed all over the place. The barista couldn't find any adjectives to describe his coffee. I guess I'm spoiled by Chompie's and the like, because these bagels were just like any cheap grocery store chain. I ordered a traditional lox bagel. The lox was sliced unbearably thick and lacked any real flavor. The cream cheese was so-so, and the capers were buried in it, and had no real "punch." I like my capers to pop with flavor. The tomatoes deserve a paragraph to themselves, but all that really needs to be said is that they were gross and tasted heavily chemical, to the point that I picked them off. The lettuce was the best part of the sandwich, with no negative attributes to it. I liked that they had outdoor seating, where we could enjoy the cooler weather and people watch as we ate.
