I enjoyed my lox sandwich but the tomato on my sandwich was so pale in color, I wish it was a little more fresh and juicy. Loved the flavor of the onion bagel! I think their bagels here are great if you are in need of a bagel and cream cheese fix, friendly and fast service. They have outside seating which is nice and plenty of parking. Inside seating is available as well but it's a little tight inside. Love their hazelnut coffee here! They always have all the bagel flavors available which is nice. Sometimes on a weekend other places run out. If you get bagels to go, they have pre packaged cream cheese ready to grab and go. Great selection of cookies and baked goods. I've had issues with online orders at this location before, ranging from missing/inaccurate food, to receiving my order 20 minutes after my pickup time, but nothing like this particular visit. On 9/13 (Saturday), I placed a to-go order on their website, with their preferred payment processor, Olo. When I got home, I found completely raw, gooey egg oozing out of both breakfast sandwiches ordered. When I called the store to request a refund, I was told that since I'd used a "third party service," I would need to submit the request via the website, contradicting the email confirmation saying "For order issues, please contact WESTERN BAGEL NORTHRIDGE at (818) 727-9404." I wasn't even offered an apology during the call. Being dissatisfied with this answer, I drove back on my lunch break and was offered store credit or for the food to be remade. Not wanting either of those options, I asked for the manager to call the store owner also refused the refund-- which is interesting, since they've been able to give me a cash refund for missing food previously. It is now 9/18 (Thursday) and I have yet to be contacted regarding my refund request. For the nearly $20 price point, you would expect better service or at the very least, cooked food. Also, I've witnessed some dodgy food handling practices at this location before, such as employees running the register while also making food without changing their gloves. You don't have to look too closely to see the store hasn't had a deep clean in a long, long time; if the customer facing area looks this grimy, I can only imagine what horrors linger in the backroom. I normally get bagels and coffee when I have meetings, rarely do I get them just for myself. But when I do, I get them from this location. I typically call in the day before or use the app to place my order In advance. My orders are always ready on time, staff seems friendly enough, considering my early mornings pickup. Usually I get a couple dozen bagels mixed with cream cheese and a couple coffee totes to go. Unfortunately I did not get pics of my actual order, just the receipt and few left over bagels. They have so many different kinds of bagels, everything, jalapeño, cheese topped, blueberry, cinnamon, plain, poppy seed, sesame seed, etc. so many options. You can also get breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as hash browns. The coffee I usually get in the totes is really good, not sure what it is, but I like the flavor, caffeinated and not overly strong, but has great coffee flavor. The store has a large front counter, with a window case full of bagels, seating area inside and outside. They keep a decent flow going with one door to enter only and one door for exit only. Ordered a bagel sandwich via uber eats. It was a fine enough sandwich, i think they overtoasted it a little. I got a garlic bagel so the burnt garlic added a bitter flavor. I know its not their decision, and I'm sure if you're ordering in person it would be different, but the uber eats and online options do not allow you to add cream cheese to most bagel sandwiches (I think the lox sandwich comes with cream cheese). I ordered the stacked egg ala bagel with double egg ($3.00 on the app...looks like maybe $2.60 extra online) and a tomato as additions I couldn't say it was double egg, doesn't look that different than their website picture, and there was just a single slice of tomato. I believe that slice of tomato is $1 on the app and $0.85 on their website.....I don't know in what reality a slice of tomato is worth $1 or even $0.85. I was expecting at least 2-3 slices at $1. Just pure opinion, tomato, lettuce, should be a selectable free option...in any case their additional toppings and the price for them is out of hand. Edit: 2025.11.07 I want to say that I appreciate the business owner offering a response. I recongize that there is the build a bagel option but had the stipulations of the limitations on the website, you can't add "double egg" or other meat options beyond lox. I am not going to reach out to customer service regarding their website structure nor pricing. Final note: I enjoy Western Bagel's bagels, they're good. Tried this place out for the first time. I ordered a breakfast sandwich. My everything bagel was burnt from the top, which you can taste the burnt seeds. The hash brown was not great; McDonald's hash brown is better. I ordered a chocolate danish and it was awful. Staff is not the friendliest. Since it was my first time, I didn't know where to go for pick up orders. I looked up (usually they are hanging somewhere) to see if there was a pick up sign, but there wasn't. I waited in line and one of the workers asked "who's next?" I said I was since I was in line but didn't acknowledge that I was next. She didn't give me eye contact. I go there early in the morning. I get my coffee and if I'm feeling like it, I'll get a bagel. The servers are always polite always helpful especially Jennifer. Great Bagel Shop! There's one in Chatsworth but the one in Northridge has a lot more parking! It can get a little busy here but it's because they have great bagels and bagels sandwiches! My absolute favorite thing to get here is the Everything Jalapeño Cheese Bagel with the Veggie Cream Cheese! SO GOOD! My wife got the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich which she said was very good too! The server behind the counter took down my 4 bagel orders without writing it down and again I was holding my breathe to see if it was going to be wrong and was proven once again that there are people out there than have amazing memories (I don't happen to be one of them). The service was friendly, efficient and more than adequate. The Lox Bagel I had was delicious! The smoked salmon was fresh, buttery and melted in my mouth & combined perfectly with the red (it's really purple LOL) onions, tomato, lettuce and cream cheese on an Everything Bagel to give me a tasty bite every time. The sausage, cheese and egg on garlic bagels as well as the Ham, cheese, egg on cheese bagel (can you tell my eater loves cheese?) is also recommended. We also each had hashbrowns that were crispy yet not oily. Pretty good. You can tell this establishment is popular as there were a steady stream of customers either taking their orders to-go or dining in--and they all seemed like repeat/regular clientele. In the general scheme of things, I am not a fan of bagels. Most bagels I have had are large, too dense in consistency, chewy, have varying degrees of dryness and are too filling when it is all over. Maybe, it is because I have not been to Western Bagel for a very long time. I came here for breakfast and to build my own everything jalapeño bagel. My recipe: toast the bagel, apply jalapeño cream cheese, add egg (fresh cracked egg, mixed up and microwaved), bacon, red onion, tomato, assemble the sandwich and cut in half. The outside of the fresh bagel had nice toasted jalapeño and cheese taste. The tomato and onion, gave it a juicy bite. The cream cheese and bacon harmonized well with the rest of the ingredients to enhance the mouth feel and flavor. The bagel itself, was soft and airy on the inside and became the ideal carrier for its ingredients. Western Bagel also has other sandwiches, paninis and coffee. Parking is not a problem. You're not going to get a better bagel in the San Fernando Valley than Western Bagels. Most locals know that so if you're coming in the morning, anticipate a long line. This location also doesn't have a lot of seating (both inside and out) so if you're planning on enjoying your meal here, you could run into some issues. However, I feel like most people get their food to go. Could be a cause and effect situation, I don't know. I personally tend to either put in an order beforehand to skip the line. I also am usually coming to this location with large orders so it's just a time saver for everyone there, including the other customers in line. I highly recommend this route. If you do wait in line, keep in mind that there are 2 windows with different offerings of bagels. I usually go to a different location so when I come here, I often wrongfully assume what I see in 1 window is all they have. If you don't see the bagel you want, check the other counter or just ask one of the very helpful employees. Chances are you won't have to settle for your 2nd or 3rd choice. One final thing, parking at this location isn't the best. It's in a busy shopping center with small spots. Just be advised on that if you're going to be coming during peak shopping times. With all that said, you're going to have a wonderful bagel after coming to Western. And while made fresh every day from their bakery in Van Nuys, don't hesitate to buy a couple extra for the next few days. They keep quite well & a quick little toast will cover up any dryness. read more

They are a bit overpriced in my opinion but I know the prices of everything are going up. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato and it was over $6. I didn't even have a meat, egg, cheese, or protein. I'm giving three stars mostly because of the poor service. They have multiple people working but I can see them all joking, laughing, and moving at a super slow pace. The person behind me was so annoyed that he ended up walking away and leaving. She berated her coworkers for a receipt that is missing from the counter and accuses the worker of throwing it in the trash instead of kindly asking her if she's even seen it. I've always loved your bagels being a customer for many years it's very convenient, typically quick and a nice way to start the day. It's unfortunate that the 2 girls (Leslie & I didn't see the other girls name) who works in the front didn't greet a single customer they just stared and turned around continued having their side conversations laughing while about 10 people walked in with zero greeting from either of them today. A lot of people need jobs these days a greeting goes a long way instead of saying what do you want!? As a long time customer of Western Bagel you have to get it together! I eat in three of your locations very regularly, they all seem to have changed and not for the good! I eat at Northridge most frequently and it has gotten quite bad, the worst of the three! They are open to 3 PM, but seem to always be in the shutting down mode from before 2 PM. Fewer bagels and even fewer varieties! The employees have gotten very unfriendly and customer service has gone down the drain! Yesterday I was there and there were three employees and a line of customers that was moving very slowly and two of the employees including the manager, Silvia, were busy preparing to shut down at 2 PM. The service is always fast and the although the line is generally long it moves quickly. The inside is your standard bagel shop with tables and chairs both indoor and out. Thank goodness for Western Bagel. I was familiar with the one in Burbank, but my friend had suggested this place. He didn't know that I am already familiar with this chain. I was happy that there wasn't a line to get my bagel as this place is very popular in Burbank. I ordered my regular jalapeno cheddar bagel, toasted once with chive cream cheese. Apparently, I had the last of their chive cream cheese spread. The bagel was very satisfying, although I have to make sure next time to get it double toasted. Unfortunately a bad experience this morning. I arrive shortly before 10am and it's slightly busy but not too busy where there should be disorganization. I am standing at the front of the order line and have waited for a couple minutes seeking assistance. An employee goes to offer help..... to the young woman behind me. He starts taking his order, looking super attentive and pleasant and while this is happening I am raising my hand to get the attention and say I was ahead in line. It was the person at the register who got the attention of the employee that I was first in line. So he apologized to the woman behind me - but does not apologize to me for bypassing me in line - and begrudgingly goes to help me. I get helped without the same clear attention he gave the person behind me. When I get handed my food and he goes to ring me up, I get even more attitude as I pay, especially as he asks if I want a receipt. It's noisy in there but not too loud where I can't hear your tone of voice. I look at my food at home and it's cold. Given the speed I got my food, it was clear it was barely toasted and the cream cheese was sloppily applied. So ultimately what I got was poor service, a steaming pile of attitude along with two sloppily made bagels that were cold (see pictures). Not a good experience due to one male employee who seemed more intent on assisting a young female in workout gear than me (not an accusation, but more of an observation). read more
