    Black Cod

Cute little Korean restaurant in K-town with beautiful wooden tables inside! We came around 7pm and were able to be seated immediately. The menu is quite large with a lot of options, but we settled on the Black Cod, spicy rice cake, seafood pancake, and kalgaksu. The favorite of the table was the Black Cod. It was so soft and melted in your mouth. It also had rice cake, daikons and tofu which soaked up that super great sauce that had some sweetness to it! The spicy rice cake was great too but not anything crazy. The seafood pancake had shrimp, calms and crab. Had a great level of crispiness to it and was filled with seafood! The kalgaksu was with chicken and had handmade noodles. The soup had such great flavor to it as well! This place is a hidden gem and a must go if you're in KTown!

Came for the braised cod and it delivered. Super tender, flavorful, and easily the standout of the meal. The tripe stew had a very bold tripe flavor, definitely for people who love that rich, slightly funky taste. The noodles in it were thick and chewy, exactly what i wanted. The scallion pancake was the only miss for me--it was kinda undercooked and lacked that crispy bite. It's run by a group of Korean aunties, and you can feel that home-cooked energy in everything, from the food to the service. Nothing fancy, just comforting, authentic, and made with care.

    Spicy chicken stew

Best Korean food I've ever had. Spicy chicken stew and spicy cold buckwheat noodles blew my socks off. Not to mention that nearly the entire table is covered in their incredible banchan spread. No notes!

Fantastic, cozy gem of a place. The owner is wonderfully nice and so helpful. The food was outstanding. I will say yes if you're in a rush, this is not the place for you. And that's not a knock on this restaurant. It's just you're not gonna get super fast service. But if you prioritize great food then that won't matter to you.

Sooo good. This is my first time eating here and actually my first time eating spicy Korean chicken. It did not disappoint!!! I've always wanted to try it as I like spicy food and heard about this place from IG. I stopped by for lunch on a Monday and I only waited maybe 10 mins or less to order my food and get my food to go. The staff were friendly. The portions are huge! It's the perfect amount of spicy, I actually went to work after and shared it with my coworkers!! They got a free sample and even said they'd go there too because it was that good! 10/10 from me and my coworker! Very authentic Korean food with a big menu. I'd definitely get this again or more from the menu. This was not for 1 person, definitely for a family! Or 2 people at minimum and I'm African American! So know large portions! Thank you for welcoming me and being my first Korean spicy chicken experience!

Got the Noodle Dumpling Soup, Bibimbap, and Bulgogi. Large portions and very tasty. We got here right before a line started to form for the dinner rush. Quick service

I love you Western Doma Noodles! Great food Good environment. Will come back soon baby

Best tofu soup I had in recent memory!!! Japchae is best when it cools down and actually eaten 4 hours later lol With decent banchan, some better than others. Very nice service! ============**** Tofu soup is soooooooo good Rich flavor with tomato (but you can't taste it) in the broth. Japchae I only like these Togo and eaten hours later. When fresh, the noodles are too soft and have no texture. But really yummy still! Service Really really nice. Even though ten words were spoken to us, you can tell the Korean lady and Hispanic man had a gentle demeanor. Banchan Didn't like bean sprouts or spicy green beans Spinach on the vinegary side/little tough Loved Pickled radish Jalepeno Ok Fish cake is soft and not dry, but nothing super pops out about it Kimchi is not bad, a teensy bit gingery

Perfectly chewy noodles make up such a wholesome and clean tasting soup. I had the clam noodle soup which contained potatoes, zucchini, green onions, along with a hearty portion of noodles. The fried dumplings were delicious and paired with a slightly acidic/tangy sauce. Service was quick and attentive. Very quiet restaurant which allowed for a peaceful and very enjoyable lunch. Parking very limited.

low-key authentic Korean restaurant. The ahjumma was so nice to us! Food is great: banchan (side dishes) - lots of variety! I liked the seaweed, fish cake, kimchi radish, and bean sprouts. Specials #13 seafood pancake $19.99 - Good. Not overloaded with green onions. The sauce that came with it could have been saltier. Specials #9 chicken stew $25.99 - spicy! Chicken was cooked well. Lots of potatoes. The small bones are annoying. #22 stone pot bibimbap $14.99 - tasty. The ahjumma brought out a bowl of gochujang filled to the top. It was good and not too sweet. #9 chewy spicy noodles $13.99 - delicious. I'd get this again. Came with a soft boiled egg. Specials #12 stir-fried squid $24.99 - I'd get this again too. The rice cake was eh, but the squid was good. Not too spicy. Prices are a bit high, but so is everywhere else right now. The menu is extensive but has some solid favorites. They have a small parking lot in this plaza, so it wasn't hard to find at 7 PM on a week night. Typical of a local Korean joint, they post menu items with prices on the walls. Even better - they have pictures of the food!

Ask the Community - Western Doma Noodles

    What are the vegetarian/vegan options?

Yes there are vegan options. You can also ask for some menu to pull meat. I wouldn't say vegans have lots of options, but there are more than one.

Do they give banchan sides for to go orders?

Yes but be sure to confirm and ask.

Is this place kid-friendly for toddlers and do they have high chairs?

There are no high chairs but their seats can accommodate a baby carrier or some sort of similar item. I saw a few families with toddlers during my visit and they kept them in their strollers or sat their carrier on a chair.

How much are the cold noodles and the spicy cold noodles?

It depends on what you order. Range from around $5.99 to around $13.99

Do you get banchan with take-out orders?

    Yep, you definitely do!

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I especially wanted to try their bossam but didn't think it was out of the ordinary. With that said, food was still very good. They offer Yuzu Shio (salt broth) and Yuzu Shoyu (soy sauce broth) Ramen. I went with Yuzu Shio ($19.50). The yuzu gives it a refreshing/bright taste that really cuts through the fatty broth and pork. Yuzu Limeade ($7) and although I liked the drink because it had a strong yuzu and lime taste, I wouldn't recommend getting it with a yuzu flavored ramen because it takes away the yuzu flavor in the ramen. Got their signature Yuzu Shio which was about $10 (normally $19.50!!), as well as their Afuri Roll which the server recommended ($23). The ramen rather had a small portion, but was balanced and pretty good - and the broth was definitely on the lighter tasting side, good for people who wants a cleaner taste. I ended up using chili oil on the side to spice things up. The Afuri Roll wasn't anything special, and a bit on the dry side but it had a nice variety of different fish inside. Overall, considering all the other competitive ramen joints in the area that have a more competitive price/portion/variety, I'm not sure if I'd give this place another go given the price. Great vibes though!

The daikon rice cakes were soft and crispy, and came with a soy sauce and spicy sauce. The Dan Bing was the highlight of the meal! The skin was freshly made, the texture was perfect, and it had a good amount of toppings. It was also quite nice for its price. It reminds me of the Dan Bing I ate back in Taiwan.
