Honest, courteous, trustworthy, fair-priced; would use again Move from Maryland to Florida: Choosing a moving company was difficult since every company has both 5 and 1 star reviews, so we were nervous choosing Western Express. I am happy to report that I highly recommend Western Express. The whole team is Intelligent, totally organized including writing a detailed inventory, careful custom packing, attention to details, great teamwork, and an added plus, the most pleasant, friendly, yet totally polite and professional crew.  Crew phoned 90 minutes before arrival, and were 30 min earlier than appointment, which is always better than being several hours late!  I thought the price was comparable with PODS without having to find movers at each end. The price did not change from the original accurate estimate. And don't let me forget to mention sales rep extraordinaire Oscar who seemed to have the customers' interest forefront, never oversold or falsely promised when we were comparing other companies, patiently explained the details, and accurately estimated the weight of our boxes and furniture. James in the office was warm and responsive to my many questions and particular situation of moving and insuring artwork. The packing crew were just terrific, smart and careful.  Delivery was 2 days later than requested, but I am keeping the 5 star rating, because this is often the case, and it wasn't 10 days late, was within my acceptable range, and the communication about the delayed arrival was acceptable. They were able to deliver during the 8am-3pm requirement of property manager. They never left me doubting my possessions would arrive. Everything arrived in good condition. I just want to write this review, because people never take the time to write reviews for good work. There are always complainers. Western did a thoroughly professional job in my move from Washington DC to Panama City. I opted to work with Western Express rather than the company provided by my employer and I was very happy and saved myself some money. The coordination with the company in Panama was great. There was constant communication with the Move Manager coordinating my move. Everything arrived in good condition. There was one ikea broken shelf but that is it. I definitely recommend this company for your international move. read more

I am extremely disappointed in Western Express. I have been blatantly lied to about the location of my household goods for a cross country shipment. The drivers that finally brought my goods to California couldn't be bothered to deliver it all the way and dropped it off at some random location to be delivered by their friend instead of coming the final 30 miles. I have had some of those same goods damaged, lost, and stolen. After finally being able to file my claim through the proper channels I have had to help them get access to required systems and have now been met with delays and silence for over 2 months and still have not been reimbursed. read more

The Western Express crew was amazing! My husband and I are both in the military and now moving to two different countries, needless to say it has been stressful. We had 3 moving companies cancel on us due to being overbooked, but Western Express made it happen! Vilua, Feliciano, Luis, and Ricardo did an amazing job packing and loading our household goods. I walked them through the house and let them know what stayed (Long term storage) and what went with them. I thought it would be confusing, but they knew without hesitation what I needed. I have moved a few times, but these guys made it so easy! They worked hard and were consistent, I felt that all of my things were packed well, I didn't even worry! In the past, I have had movers who were just not professional and I can tell you that these movers were the most professional movers I have ever had! Despite the humidity and 90 deg heat!!!!! Don't ever use this company. Hired them on May 20th for June 28th and gave them my credit card number. We did all the confirmation emailing and calling on Monday June 26th. I did all the packing and was all ready for them at around noon and the waiting game began. They were suppose to come in between 1 and 2.... at 2:45 I called James, the sales person, few times on the same number that I talked to him on before, NO ANSWER. Finally called the company and the dispatcher kept connecting me to this bogus number with full mailbox. She did that FIVE TIMES... i finally asked her not to do that anymore as soon as she picked up. I then FINALY talked to another person, and he said that earliest time they can move me is July 1st..... WHAT????? I have to move out by then in order not to be charged for another months rent. How can I pay rents for two apartments? He was very unapologetic and careless telling me that they are moving government offices at this time and James didn't know about the dates and I must change my date to July 1st. As if I don't have anything else to do, just to sit around my old place surrounded by boxes and bags. I asked him if this is how the sales people communicate with the dispatchers and he answered : "NOT REALLY" These people are bunch of croocks who has no regards for others. If next door pays them a penny more, they are sold and could care less about their contracts or promises. If you don't want to sit around watching your whole life in boxes, if you don't have lots of days and time offs from work, if you don't want to end up in a hotel for few nights, cause u don't have a bed to sleep on while paying for TWO APARTMENTS, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE...... Honestly I don't even know where to start...I guess it all began when we were notified that this company would be responsible for moving our household goods. First, it was challenging to get our assigned move counselor to respond to any emails or return any of our phone calls. I frequently had to call and speak to who I assume is her supervisor. He was helpful by actually answering his phone. When the exciting day to begin packing our items arrived, the movers did not. I finally received a call from "the dispatcher" about an hour past their 3-4 hour arrival window. I was told that their truck was broke down on the side of the highway and they were not going to be able to make it. This was disappointing considering we have a 5 bedroom house that typically takes 3 days to pack/move when done professionally. I was advised that the movers would now be arriving "early" the next day. The next day comes...lunch time passes...and finally got a hold of someone who stated that the mover were along to our home. They finally arrived after 3pm. The guy in charge apologized for being so late and for not being able to arrive the day prior. It was at that time he confessed that the truck in fact, did NOT break down and they were actually busy with another move. We were then told that everything would be packed and shipped that day! Oh, AND that they would be done with everything by 9pm. We told him that at no time in the history of us moving, which has been ALOT, has a company packed, loaded, and shipped everything in one day, let alone in 6 hours. Keep in mind that we have 6 kids...yes, that's correct 6 kids. You can imagine our disbelief, frustration, and complete disregard for our time. Needless to say we were wrong about one thing...they did in fact pack, load, and move everything.....almost 12 hours later! They didn't leave our house until 2:30 AM! I could go on about how careless they were with some of our things, but I'm sure you can imagine when a 2600 sqft house is moved in such little time. Let's move on to the delivery day....shall we? Okay delivery day comes....of course they cancelled on the original day/time that scheduled. When they arrived the next day, boxes were labeled incorrectly in a foreign Language, which neither my husband or I could read. It took 2 days to have everything delivered. Our couch and flat screen TV were both missing. Luckily they found the TV, a week later. ke they managed to lose our couch....how is that even possible? read more

The actual movers were great - they were very efficient and got the job done quickly within the estimated time. I applaud the movers for sure. However, the customer service following the move has been non-existent and terrible. We lost a few items (large and expensive items) and some minor damage during the move and have not been able to even get in touch with someone who can take note of the issue. Half the time the phone number provided doesn't even go through, and when we finally got through we were given two contacts - one never answers their phone and their mailbox is full; the other immediately directed us back to the first number or said "let me have management contact you" and hung up before taking any information. At the end of the day, a lost item is a lost item but it is ridiculous to not even be able to get in touch with someone that will try to help. read more

If I could give negative stars for this company I would. Worst customer service, worst reliability I have experienced in 14 moves. My move was completed August 1 and I was moving a third of my items. I still have not been compensated for those items and the lack communication from the company is something I could never imagine! Do not use this company! The absolute worst move we have ever had! They were supposed to send 4 guys and arrive about 9:30. They called at 8:30 the day of the move and said they were overbooked and wanted to move us the next day instead. When I refused, they said they would 'try' to get someone over. I called them every 45 minutes, got nothing but voicemail. Any time I did reach someone, they said the truck was on the way, but James, the dispatcher, later admitted he hadn't been truthful, that they knew they would be hours. They finally showed up after 1:30, only three guys instead of four, so the move that should have been over about 6 went on until almost midnight. The driver didn't speak any English at all, so he parked in the alley behind our house and blocked it, which isn't allowed. We explained to the crew repeatedly that he had to come around to the front of the house, but he wouldn't move until he called the office and someone translated that message to him, about half an hour wasted. They left without putting together one of the beds because it was so late; they promised someone would call the next day to set it up, but of course no one did. I spent the whole day on the phone leaving messages that were never returned, and being told that they weren't supposed to finish it, that they only did the other bed 'out of the goodness of their hearts' even though we paid the movers for the time they spent on them. James repeatedly promised a discount because of the terrible service, but they went ahead and charged my card for the original amount for 4 movers. The woman in the billing office kept threatening to hang up on me because I kept trying to correct her incorrect math, and also told me that James promising me a discount and telling me they would finish the bed didn't count because he doesn't have the authority to promise those things. I didn't get anywhere until I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Then, surprise! Within half an hour they contacted me to schedule someone to put the bed together. They are completely dishonest. James will say anything to get the business, but once they have the credit card number they are consistently unable to deliver, unprofessional, and awful to deal with. read more

Well to start off my husband and I are team drivers. We were working for a previous company and were getting fair salary. Western express offers .55 cents per mile but to our dismay it is split between the two of us, so we are getting only .27 cents per mile each. This is ridiculously unheard of. This is about minimum wage. On top of that we would see other western express drivers and ask them there starting pay which was .47 cents a mile for solo drivers. Also it's impossible to get a hold of anyone on the phone. We would call several different numbers (like 8) We would leave voice messages and NEVER get a call back. We were having problems with our electronic login device. We also had a DOT violation on the truck, but we were at the Bloomington California terminal (which is our home terminal) and the mechanic closed his doors and told us he is closing. The diver trainer for this Bloomington terminal is very rude and sarcastic his name is Kelly. Needless to say we lasted two weeks at this job before we found something better. Avoid this company! There is no negative select button so the lowest I can give them is a one but it should be negative 5. From start to finish WE was as unprofessional as you can get. This company was assigned to us through a military contract. They were most likely the "lowest bidder". Packers were terrible, items were lost or destroyed, and in the end they lost items that can not be replaced. I can go on but if you want a terrible packing job, items lost and broken and terrible communication then this is the moving company for you! read more

Recommend against using this company if you are a woman. Male packers made inappropriate comments and looks, and took advantage of close spaces like kitchen to attempt to put arms around waist, etc. Clearly training and accountability is needed at this company. Have had no similar issues with other moving companies. Also echo the disorganization of the packers noted by other reviewers. Follow up from the company related to those issues has been decent. read more

This was my first experience with a moving company, so perhaps they are all this bad. They were totally disorganized. Stuff was packed haphazardly and not well--shoes from the bedroom packed with glassware from the dining room with other random stuff. Kitchen utensils just thrown in a box. It made for a horrible and disorganized unpacking experience. I still haven't found some clothing which I fear is packed in some of the boxes marked garage. We had a crew of two people instead of 4-5 which made it go terribly slow. My antique furniture had scratches when it arrived- no surprise since it wasn't wrapped well and was stacked ith the feet of one item stacked on top of the table top of another. I may never use movers again as they seem unprofessional and disorganized, but would definitely not suggest them. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I called in May to schedule a move for the end of June, their staff (James) called 2-3 days prior to the move to confirm. Day of the move, no one showed up!!! 4 hours and 20 frantic phone calls later, I find out that James never synced with Dispatch to confirm my move and that there was no one available to do the move!!!!! And this information came from someone else, James never bothered to call and let me know the issue, he actually stopped taking my calls!!! This is the most unbelievable, unprofessional, unacceptable behavior I have ever seen!!! I would give ZERO stars if possible! read more

Totally absurd. The prep and onsite workers were great. However, an item was broken during the move. After reporting the damage, it was picked up the day after the move. I was informed via email that the item was ready about a month after the move and would be dropped off. It's now been over 8 weeks since the item was allegedly repaired (and 12 weeks since it was initially broken and picked up). I have called/emailed/texted MULTIPLE times but there has been no response. I honestly don't know how this company stays in business. read more

There is no way to describe completely how terrible this moving company performed. They were unreliable, lazy and turned a small packing job into a horrible three days. When our items arrived on the other side, almost everything was damaged due to poor packing. They even placed the unremovable number stickers on area of the furniture where when you remove them, they damage the surface. Worst of all, they stole from us. We watched one of our bikes get packed into a crate and while it was listed on the inventory, it did not arrive on the other side. Deplorable thieves! read more

Western Express was far less expensive than the other moving companies from whom I received estimates. Moreover, they brought my boxes and packing tape for free, simply because they had to move the time of my estimate a bit, even though they moved it in accordance with my schedule! I had two guys and a truck to move me from Maryland to NYC and, while the guys showed up a half an hour late, they called to say they were running late, and more than made up for it by packing me up incredibly quickly. I had a friend meet them at my apartment in NYC, as they were bound to beat me there; by the time I got to my apartment, everything was unpacked into my apartment. The guys were friendly and professional and FAST and great. I would undoubtedly use them again - for any move. read more
