This company is too big, It's Terminex. The communication between the phone operators, and the guys who come out and the schedulers is totally disfunctional. They don't synch their appointment books. Since they have to enter my house I need to know approx when they are coming but verifying is hard. The guys who come out are nice, but they are confounded and confronted about the dysfunctions. Yeah, I should have looked for a smaller company to do the work, but now that the rats are excluded I think we will go on our own and get our own black boxes. The technician servicing our home was incompetent and slow and the company impossible to deal with. After 20 years of being a customer we had one serious issue where we needed their help and they dropped the ball completely and left us with no idea of next steps to resolve it for over a week. Only after I called and escalated 3 times did someone respond to tell us 'they are sorry for how we feel' but they basically won't do anything to help. I would not recommend this business for rodent exclusion. We used them for termite treatment and they did a good job, so we hired them for rodent exclusion work. The work they did for rodent exclusion was expensive (we paid thousands of dollars), ineffective and unprofessional. They used hammers to 'reshape' the trim of the door in our garage (instead of replacing the trim, which is what I would have expected for the amount of money they were charging). Instead of replacing the mesh vents along the exterior walls of our home, they used caulk & wire mesh to 'repair' several very badly damaged vents along the bottom exterior walls of our house - the result was horrendous looking. The trapdoor leading to the subarea of our home should have been replaced, but instead they used scrap wood to try to 'repair' it - the result still left large gaps where rodents could get in, and continued to get in. They promised to set about a dozen traps both inside the subarea of our home, garage and attic, and they set only a few which were ineffective because we started to see evidence of rodents in our home. We called within 48 hours of them completing the job to ask someone else come to the home to reinspect and redo the work. No one called back. We called again and again and again with no response. When they finally did send us our bill, they immediately marked it 'past due,' we suspect, in an effort to bully us into paying asap since we were already raising questions about the work. So, we set our own traps and went back and redid the work we had already paid them to do.... and solved the issues ourselves. Do not waste your money by hiring this business. Their goal appears to be to charge as much they can while spending as little as they can to do unprofessional and shoddy work. Their customer service is horrible. About 4years ago I hired Western exterminator to help me with my Turmite problem. In the service I received they installed these baiting traps around my home which they were supposed to inspect periodically. In all those years, they've only showed up once to inspect them. Then about a week ago, I received a invoice in the mail informing me that I owed close to $300 for services. I contacted them about the invoice and they informed me that it was only a warranty renewal mind you I've never had a warranty with them. Then they made it difficult for me to cancel said warranty. I received probably six phone calls within a week. With voicemails and emails as well. I finally receive an email that they're coming to my house Friday for a service. Flustered I called them, they informed me that they needed to remove the bait traps that were installed around my home, even though the time was inconvenient for me I allowed it to happen because I didn't wanna be charged for keeping the bait traps. They came removed the bait traps from around my home and threw them on the ground in my front yard. The harassment and disrespect is beyond me. Never use this company. read more

Horrible performance. Over 2 years we spent thousands of dollars on exclusion work for rats. We kept getting rats though Western was supposed to be checking regularly. Turns out the traps were not even baited. Doubtful the service people even came. We got another company, Armored Exterminators, which got rid of a full on rat infestation in two months. I called Hitmen who we used before and did a good job.They were taken over by Western Exterminator and Mike Bowler came over and did an inspection.He said we had rats and the bill was $6600.Never gave us a breakdown of what we were paying for.Long story short afer 3 months not 1 rat was trapped[4 mouse traps with no bait in crawlspace].They found 3 possible entry points one being a 3-4 inch hole in the stucco at ground level on the side of the house.My wife and I discovered the hole while weeding and left it exposed or he never would have noticed.They filled the hole with dirt and put a brick in front of it.There was another hole the size of a quarter and they filled the hole with silacone.I could have paid someone off the street corner to do a better job.No body came out to inspect what was done.After reporting them to multiple agencies and threating to take them to court for elder abuse they are dismissing the charges providing I sign a waver. Back 2016 when I moved in they will show up with out telling né the date that they are coming, then charge my landlord 125.09 a visit that didn't happen, I had cameras and never show that they were here like they said! Met with salesman and agreed to price for annual service- I asked if there would be any charges other than listed, i even asked him to write it on my receipt. On day of initial service one of their technicians presented me with an additional bill for $300. I disputed this with the owner of the company- cancelled my agreement. I have had good success with The Hitmen until now. We were getting good service but something has happened! We are having a rodent issue at our home. I have a service contract with them but I need to speak to our technician to resolve this current issue. In the past few weeks I have literally called and left messages 6-7 times for someone to call me and nobody will return my call. They even said they would "escalate" my call and still no response. I used used them some years ago for inspections and treatments and all was fine. However, I recently tried to use them and it was impossible. Their internal communications are atrocious, they got all of my messages wrong every step of the way. It took me over a month to get a call back from a manager and it still took 7 months to finally finalize the treatment and hand-hold them every step of the way. Their phone services keep kicking calls from state to state and most of the time I ended up speaking to someone in WA about services in CA. Awful. My agent scheduled this outfit to do our pest inspection for a home sale. The guy they sent out had a major inferiority complex. Very disrespectful and uppity. Yes, uppity. A pest inspector. It has been nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone (either a service person or at the Santa Rosa office), to keep an appointment (they rescheduled on our actual service date), or to receive service, which we never did. After our technician no-showed on our second appointment today, I had to call the office 3 times before I could get through to a person. The first time, someone actually answered and hung up on me, then it just rang forever before I finally got through on the third try. We waited nearly two weeks to have someone come out and solve our pest problem, and they never did. Another technician actually called our practice looking for our service person... They had no idea where he was and couldn't reach him by phone. I am completely disappointed with our entire experience. After today, I decided to take our business elsewhere and find a company who is more available and places value on customer service and loyalty. *I will say that I used the San Rafael branch for several years with no problems. Update: A heating & duct company came out & looked under my infested room to discover Multiple rat's nests in the heating ducts & insulation. The infestation is very obviously rat mites. THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! It took several days for me to get a representative to come out and "evaluate" the problem. Service would start some time later. They gave a 2 hour window to show up but NOBODY showed up or contacted me about being delayed. When I called the 888 number to find out what was happening I was told that they had the wrong phone number. The person said she would correct the phone number and notify the Representative to call me to schedule another appointment. It has been 3 days and I have not heard from anyone. I'm marking this as 2 stars for now. I will change it based on the appointment that I now have with them tomorrow. It was supposed to be yesterday afternoon but no one showed up. When I called to tell them no one showed up, they said my appointment was this Saturday. I know for a fact that I didnt schedule the appointment for Saturday. I called them last week with an urgent issue. They said the earliest appointment was yesterday afternoon so I took it. I asked them to let me know if there were any cancellations so I could see them sooner, they said they'd note that request. So it looks like they didnt show up and then they moved the appointment out. Or maybe the first person I talked to messed up. Doesnt matter. This isnt the first time this has happened. For 20 years now Ive been a regular customer. They come to my home every two months to spray for ants and check for other issues. 20 years Ive been paying for their services. I really hate to switch to another company but if they dont show up and this ant situation isnt resolved, I'll switch to another company. The minute she finished her I walkthrough, she sat down and wrote a quote right there! They will start next Wednesday and be back on Friday to finish. M, E My wife and I had the Hitman(brought out by Western Exterminator) go over the entire exterior of our house in the beginning of this year and do a through sealing of all holes and openings into our house at a cost of $6500. This worked until now but we started getting mice inside our house starting last week. The service man was here and installed some traps on the inside of the house and told us he would be back the next day to check the traps. We caught 2 mice that night and have been catching (we know there is more) 1 or 2 mice every night since then. We called the main office number and asked to talk to someone local but they told us they couldn't give us that number and made an appointment to have a tech come out between 12 and 6 on friday. NO ONE CALLED!!! or showed up. We called again on Friday and they said that a technician would be out here on Monday (today) between 8 and 12 and would call first with an ETA. NO ONE CALLED!!! or showed up. I CALLED THE MAIN OFFICE AND THE REP SAID SHE WOULD GET A MESSAGE TO THE TECH AND HE WOULD CALL WITH AN ETA WITHIN AN HOUR...NO ONE CALLED!!!!!!!! I CALLED ABOUT 4 AND THE REP PROMISED ME A SUPERVISOR WOULD CALL BY THE END OF BUSINESS DAY...NO ONE CALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I run commercial properties and had to give them up for issues. They were okay before on my home but now they schedule appointments and don't show and don't call. There is a national number and they won't give us the local number. When I call in, they can't check on status of repair person or if he is coming or not. When I tell them there is a no show they hang up. I've called 6 times this morning due to a not show hours ago and there have been 4 hangups on me and the other 2 would look into the matter but no assurances that anyone would get back to me. I have been with The Hitmen, who are now owned by Western Exterminators, for at least eight years. Ever since they were purchased, my experience with the company has been poor at best. My service techs have always been great and very professional which is the only reason I have remained a customer... until now. After my most recent experience I am terminating my service immediately and cautioning others from hiring this company. If you like speaking to a call center who cannot directly speak with the local office, then this is the company for you! For me, when I have a problem I want to speak with someone locally who can address the issue within a day or two. This last Thursday, I was scheduled for service. Per the notes on my account which have been confirmed by the tech, I am supposed to be given a two hour treatment or arrival window. That has not happened since Western has owned the company. My tech was kind enough to text me and let me know he was heading out to my property for service that day. I waited for the tech to show up until 4:30 p.m. at which point I called and canceled my service for the day. The person at the call center said the tech still had 30 minutes to respond (left in the day) and I said no thanks. Saturday morning, much to my surprise, a tech show up to my house, unscheduled, at about 8:00 a.m. I had to turn them away as this was not agreed upon or scheduled in advance and not convenient for my family. Imagine my surprise when I received an email receipt later that same day for a service I never received. I again called the call center requesting a refund for a service I never received and asked that the local office call me right away. According to the tech who showed up that morning, a manger was in the office that day. No call back from the local office. I called that following Monday, and detailed Thursday and Saturdays events and was told I would get a call back in two hours. That never happened. Today is Tuesday and I called yet again. At this point I have yet to speak with anyone from the local office even though I have requested to do so THREE TIMES. I'm done. Clearly they do not need my business any longer. I will find a truly local company to do business with moving forward. read more

This company is an absolute joke. The absolute WORST customer service ever. I scheduled a service and asked them to call me on way out since i was down street at office. I also left note on door to call me. Waited two weeks for appointment and on appt day, guy came out and never called. Sprayed front of house. Did he get the backyard...Hell No. Never called me. Never sprayed inside. My ant and spider problems have gotten worse since then. Over the past two weeks, I have called them not once, not twice not even three times but four and STILL CRICKETS. Worst service ever. I hired them when we bought our house to do an exclusion in our crawl space, they charged a lot of money for exclusion and abatement and for a while I thought it was worth it. Then rodents started getting inside the house, all Hitmen did was set traps and not try to source the entry or exit points. We could do that ourselves. And when the traps caught and killed a mouse, I spent two weeks trying to call to ask for someone to come remove the remains and set new traps- I couldn't even get through to the local office. Kept getting routed through a dispatch center and being told they would "elevate" my case. I haven't been able to reach the manager no matter how many notes they leave for him. I just want my money back for the very expensive and non-effective service they've said they were performing. Not only do they not remove pests, they can't even pick up a phone. read more

The service we thought we needed wasn't really necessary for our problem, and the tech was honest and helped us figure out a simple solution. There is no way to leave that info on Yelp so she called Western's call center. The call center didn't know anyone called Cydney but they took Judy's contact info and stated that a call back would happen within 24-48 hours. I called Hitmen in Santa Rosa, Ca and told them that I probably had carpenter ants or termites. So they wanted to send out one of their employees with the sole purpose to determine what the problem was. After his visit, he would determine if I should have a carpenter ant inspector or a termite inspector come out. (I would have to pay for both the initial employee as well as the inspector that he decided on) So when the appropriate inspector had completed his finding, he would then quote me a price for the remediation. (Plus I had to pay for the first two guys!!!!). The sturdy and not very understanding receptionist could not understand my straight forward approach: just send a guy out, and do the work according to what he had determined was the bad critters. Finally I lost my patience of being jerked around, and called a small pest control company. So they are coming out to check out what it is and do the spraying all in the same visit. I will probably end up paying about $200 From what i could understand from the Hitmen girl, I would end up with a cost of $ 600 - $900, plus suffering from having to go through all their bureaucracy. Called for wasp nest removal and asked for a general inspection too. After rapid review reasonable cost provided. When the actual people arrive to do the job they cannot reach any of the wasp nests. They are too high. And it's not close. It's not just out of reach it's 6 feet plus out of reach. So have to send them away and start over. Ridiculous. Useless. read more

Western Exterminator took an excellent Company, The Hitmen, and ruined it. It's impossible to find someone in management to speak to. They hide from customers. I asked for the name of someone in management. I was given the name of the District Manager. I asked for a phone number and was told "I'm not allowed to give out her phone number." I got an address - sent a letter Jan. 25 and yesterday it was returned "Undeliverable" because I didn't have a Suite #. I'm now sending the letter to Santa Rosa location. I was a long time Hitmen customer. They still employee some excellent technicians who are good but many are leaving the Company to join competitors. Pretty much the worst vendor experience I have had in a long time. Feels like the entire business is a scam. I set up initial service and the person who arrived appeared high as a kite, spent 5 minutes spraying a product I know doesn't work, and left. When I called to complain, the staff said they had no record of the employee even coming to our house. I attempted to cancel and was promised 2 months free and they would come back out and apply the appropriate product. Someone more sober did come out and did a thorough job. He told me that Hitmen is notorious for being difficult to communicate with on the phone and that I should email if I get lucky enough to obtain an email address. AND guess what showed up on my credit card bill the following month - a charge from Hitmen after I was told it would be free. I have emailed several times to cancel service and request a refund for unauthorized charges, and of course have been on hold on the phone now for over 30 minutes, trying to get through to someone. If you tell them you want to cancel, they automatically don't have anyone available to assist you. I'm furious by this scam and the monthly billing they require you to be on and will never let you cancel of even upon multiple requests. read more

Beware! the initial estimate they give you does not reflect how much they will charge you at the end, they ALWAYS find something else to fix and issue supplemental reports to ask for more money, they try to do lots of "none-pest control work" and use third party to charge you more money. It is none stop, until you say no, and they never finish on time. The company called to say he would return "Sunday". I called to see what time and was told "sometime Sun." It's now Sunday afternoon and no return visit. Left a message on their phone that says "we will call you back as all reps are now busy" at 8am, noon and 4:30 but no call back. Will find another company! read more
