Always be suspicious of a place with so few reviews and all of them are 5 star. There is a lot left to be desired at Western View, which doesn't really have a western view. It's called that because it's in the Best Western hotel and has big windows. I have a lot to write about so here's a four word summary. Two Stars At Best. It was hard to find, I went around the block once before guessing that it was inside the Best Western hotel. I arrived at 6pm on a week night on my way from the Grand Canyon back to Las Vegas. It's a small place (20-25 seats) but so out in the open it felt like part of the lobby. They tried to class it up. Each table has nicely folded rouge napkins and very pretty place settings. It wants to look like what it isn't, a classy steakhouse. Hostess was not at her post when I arrived, nbd (no big deal) honestly. Couldn't even tell where her stand was, so I walked almost right into the kitchen to ask where I should sit. Another minor 'nbd' thing was that the table I wanted to sit at needed to be bussed. There were more employees than patrons when I got there, bus the tables guys. When my table was cleaned up, it was wiped down with a dirty rag. The kid was very nice, but now it's piling up. At least it was wiped dry with a clean rag. This place was starting to be like that guy who doesn't shower often but always wears a lot of cologne. When the waitress came over she didn't introduce herself. Everybody knows you start with, "Hi my name is... I'll be your server... Can I start you off with... etc." I ordered the 16oz. Newport Poterhouse medium rare which came with 2 sides. I was having trouble deciding on my 2nd side to go with my baked potato, and she wasn't much help. Didn't suggest anything except to say, "this is the only vegetable we have." The waitress said playfully, "I'm not gonna force you to have 2 sides unless you want 2 baked potatoes." I ordered brown rice as my 2nd side. She was NOT rude, she was very NICE, just not very helpful. Here's a tip to all waitstaff out there, When a customer asks about the menu, you should help them out because it ups your tip. When they ask for help it means that money isn't a big factor tonight, start selling them on all the best and highest prices items on the menu. Also, make sure you've tasted everything on the menu. Back to reviewing: I also ordered the Pork Green Chili Stew as a soup. It was indeed more soupy than chili/stewey. It had only 3 small chunks of pork in it, and was super spicy. I thought it went down the wrong pipe but there was something in that 'chili' that tingled the back of my throat way too much. It came with steamed tortillas... let me be more accurate, it came with one big burrito sized flour tortilla. Not the best compliment to the very spicy chili. Didn't finish it. The table next to me ordered wine, which took so long to come out the gentleman at the table said, "Oh good, it's here. It's not like we're in a rush." When it did come the girl who brought the wine to the table [not the server] didn't really know how to present it. Even though I don't work in the restaurant industry here's Waitstaff tip #2 : When presenting wine, bring glasses for everyone and check each glass for spots, wipe with a clean napkin when necessary. Present the bottle to whomever ordered the wine, always have the label facing out toward the customer. Tell them the year, name, and type of wine. Open the bottle. Offer the cork to the customer (if they don't want it just leave it at the table). Pour a sip into the customer's glass to taste. After they taste and approve, pour everyone's glass at the table, ending with the person who ordered it. White wine put in a chiller, red wine leave at the table. This whole presentation classes up the whole experience. Obviously the girl didn't do any of this. She was also very nice, and cute, but very awkward. Kinda like, "Tee-hee... Hi... Here's your wine... (giggle) Ok, bye." I should also mention that the chairs were 1) cheap looking, 2) too short for the table and 3) sunk when you sat in them. It made it hard to eat when the table ends up near my chest when sitting. When my food did arrive, the steak looked tasty, and was cooked to the right temperature. It was over seasoned, but I like my steak that way, others might not. My steak knife was placed on the table away from me so I had to stretch to get it. Because the entree was in a skillet, on top of a platter, on a tall table, I felt like a child eating my $29 entree, but I managed to get through it. Baked potato was fine. Brown Rice was gross, but I've never had good rice that I or anyone from my family didn't make. Had to ask for a water refill twice. I don't know why they even have a dessert cart. I'm sure everything on there is probably 2 months old. Everyone was very nice, but don't expect anything special out of this place. Just sayin'. read more

I'm surprised this place is rated so highly by other users. I must have come on an off day (Monday evening), but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had for as long as I can remember. I guess I should have had lower expectations given it was inside the lobby of a Best Western, but the pricey menu and plush decor raised the bar in my mind. Little did I realize I was about to be served what amounts to cafeteria food. I start by ordering the Pork and Chili stew. "Is it a chili?" I ask. "No," they say, "it's a stew." It tasted like it had been sitting in a pot for roughly a week. It was not fresh, terribly oversalted, and the meat was tough and fatty. The only other recognizable thing in there was poblano pepper. Um, lack of creativity? I asked that they take the soup away, ordering the spinach salad instead. On a positive note, this was the best part of the meal-- but only because they didn't attempt any cooking. The salad was just raw spinach leaves, walnuts, and cranberries. No cheese. No shallots or onions. No tomatoes, carrots, or croutons. A third-grader could make a more interesting salad, and for under $5 at home. Then there was their "raspberry vinaigrette," if you can even call it that. Its consistency was completely wrong-- I swear they used apple sauce as the base. And it was too strong with vinegar. On to the main course, the 8 oz. Porterhouse steak with a side of a cheese quesadilla and black beans. Let's start with the positives. The quesadilla was actually very good, and as simple as it was, it is not a conventional side dish. And the black beans tasted fresh. That said, the beans were undercooked (or undersoaked) and were insanely oversalted. Did I say oversalted earlier? Now the steak. I ordered it medium rare. My steak arrived well done. (No, they had not done well, harhar.) After sending it back, it returns almost completely rare. "No," I said, "I want it medium rare, but closer to medium." You know, like a reputable steakhouse knows automatically how to do. When you say "medium rare", it usually cooks a little on the plate, arriving at your table a little under medium. But when the meat is cold-in-the-center rare, it won't continue to cook. Why didn't they check their meat before sending it out the second time? After getting the steak a third time it was finally done right. But the meat was so low-grade, half the steak was inedibly tough. And, it tasted frozen. Wait, what was I paying again? If I wanted a frozen steak, I'd buy that at my local grocery. And to top it all off, after all that trouble they caused me, they didn't even take the steak off my bill, or give me a complimentary dessert. No, I shouldn't expect this, but every sensible restaurant I've eaten in has done this. It shows how badly they must be failing financially, and it's little wonder why. I mean, I've ordered the filet mignon at Logan's Roadhose for the same price as this meal, not to compare it to a good place like that, but I guess they've spoiled me. Also, I ordered the salmon once at Logan's Roadhouse, and it was undercooked. Even though they did not need to since their food was outstanding, they took the salmon off my bill. Now that's a sign of a healthy restaurant. Not the case here. Let me end by talking once again about the SALT. Salt is essential in any good cooking. But one mistake many restaurants do to make bland frozen ingredients taste bolder is to oversalt all their food. I didn't realize how salty everything was until I woke up the next morning gasping for air through my desert-dry throat. I had to drink about 1/4 gallon of water just to rehydrate myself. And that was not my usual morning. The bottom line is, I've gotten much better food, with much better service, for half the price of this place. If you're looking for a better choice, go to the Denny's right next door. Otherwise, don't expect too much. read more

If you're already staying at The Best Western hotel, this is a perfect place to get dinner since it's located inside the hotel. Excellent service, really tasty food, and a great ambiance. They also occasionally have nice patio music from 6-9pm which was really tasteful and not too loud. read more

The service was the worst we have ever experienced. Waited 30 minutes before seeing our server. Then ordered drinks and dinner and waited am hour for a cold baked potato, barely warm filet, and cold vegetable. Plus we never received our salad or soups until we asked for it when dinner was served. No manager and the servers rarely would come out of back. I realize it is hard to find help but cut down the amount of tables being served to be able to accommodate patrons paying $35 for a meal. read more

The only thing that makes the food stand out is comparing it to the poor service. This is the same dining room where the hotel serves their free breakfast. This would not bother me if the food were even equal to the breakfast. My wife and I went there hoping for a decent meal. What we got instead was my meal delivered and having to wait 10+ minutes for hers. Order was not difficult. Mine was Green Chili Stew and Cheese Quesadilla. Hers was just a Chicken Quesadilla. Stew consisted of pork and green chili in broth. Very bland. Both Quesadillas we blah. We hear management and wait staff constantly apologizing to diners for mistakes and the quality of the food. Great. Went here because we read a great review saying that Brandon (server) was amazing and Omar (musician) could really play. We lucked out and were able to test the theories for ourselves. We were not disappointed. Great atmosphere: simple, but elegant. Good food: I had filet, green beans, Mac and cheese. Wife had NY strip, green beans, baked potato. Split the raspberry crumble. Next time, I'd order the filet medium instead of M-R, and I'd opt for the apple cobbler instead of the crumble. Otherwise, wonderful. Service: this waiter, Brandon, really outdid himself. Let me start by saying food is great I have been here several times being a local and have ordered several different items from menu and have never been disappointed food is great. Every server I've dealt with are nice and attentive. The only issue is the wait and how long it takes to get food, tonight it took approximately an hour. This is a great option for dinner if you are staying at the Best Western Inn of Williams. Located in the lobby (can't get any more convenient than that), the food and service are pretty good, though it's a little pricey for what you get. They had entertainment (local singer/musician) on weekend nights when we were there in April, which was really nice also. The ribs were a little tough the night we were there, and the fish (several folks got Salmon/Trout) was a little dry and bland. Definitely recommend the Shrimp Vera Cruz, the sauce was pretty good and had a nice kick. Definitely the best entree from several options we had. They a full bar/lounge across the lobby, which is nice for drinks w/dinner or otherwise. The restaurant seating opens into the back of the lobby with a fireplace separating the main lobby from the back/restaurant, so it's a pretty nice, open layout to hangout, enjoy dinner, and listen to music. Positives: Very convenient (if staying at hotel), open layout, live music on weekends, pretty decent food. Negatives: A little pricey for the quality of the food. read more

Road Trip Notable Nosh # 8 (See Lists) Williams is a touristy town, meant to replicate the wild west, and capitalizes on its location near the Historic Route 66. We ate in-room, because once again, we were hesitant to leave our dogs unattended. The food here was passable, except for the NY Strip Steak which was really good, perfectly done, well seasoned, with just the right amount of fat. I was really hoping for a good steakhouse. Well this wasn't it. Fiancé had the 10oz filet and I ordered halibut. Halibut was not cooked in one area and literally had to take out of mouth into napkin. I am so glad that we decided to eat here. The staff was so polite and accommodating for a party of 10. We were given a variety of bread that was so warm and delicious! Every person ordered something different from a shrimp quesadilla to the short ribs. We collectively agreed that it was all delicious. The short ribs fell right off the bone and the enchiladas were nice and cheesy. It was so nice of the waitress to separate our short ribs for us knowing we were splitting a full rack. Was staying at the Best Western for two nights to take the train to Grand Canyon so took my wife and Mom to happy hour and dinner here. We were really impressed. We stayed at the best western and decided it would be convenient to have dinner there with our two young children after a long day. It was a Saturday night so there was live music. The musician sang our kids a Disney song. The service was excellent. I recommend the "Scorpion" appetizer. It was a really good and entertaining. I bit into one of them and it was incredibly spicy. My husband said his was not spicy at all. I asked the waitress and she said it's like Russian Roulette. They are either very spicy or not at all! This might be one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Closing time is 10:00 P.M and we arrived at 9:28 P.M. The waiters were already starting to take the tablecloths from the tables and cleaning the restaurant. The waiters still sat us down and asked us what we wanted to order. We ordered beverages and they were served to our table. (Everything seemed fine at the time). We proceeded to order our food and the waiter told us it would take 15-20 minutes for the food to get to us. We waited 30 minutes and after the long dreaded wait, the food came to us in take out containers. We were disgusted because we were under the assumption that we were going to be able to eat our food in the restaurant. The waiter never told us that we'd have to eat the food elsewhere. When we unboxed the food in our hotel, we were disgusted by the food that was in the takeout containers. The nachos we ordered were obviously microwaved. I ordered beef tacos and instead of beef, they gave me pork tacos. On top of that, the tacos were coated with some cottage cheese which is not what they advertised. The beans were served in a separate cup and were watery and unflavored. The food was absolutely atrocious and the after-effects on my digestive system was even worse. All together, the whole dinner experience was a complete mess and I definitely recommend anyone to go to a local diner or steakhouse rather than this mess of a restaurant. read more

Thank you Yelp! What a gem this Restaurant is.If I could have rated it with 10 stars, that would not have been enough. We, too, got into town late after an amazing day at the Grand Canyon. After reading the three 5 star reviews, we decided we had to try this steakhouse. So ditto on absolutely everything in the other reviews and here is our experience. We both had the chopped sirloin with green beans. Wow, the best we have ever had! Our little guy is very shy and slow to trust. Our server Alan quickly recognized that and turned his attention to him. By the end of the meal, he and Alan were best buddies. We have been to several restaurants with great food, but not any of them had this level of service. From Brandon, to Alan and even Tyrell, we had the most attentive, friendly and truly caring service. Our only regret is that we live in California and it would be a bit far to come for another amazing dinner. So thank you Brandon, you did not disappoint....A huge thank you to Alan for your special service and kindness to our little one... and Tyrell for your friendliness. And to the owners, what a special staff you have. Congratulations again Brandon. I'm sure your father is proud and thank you for your service. As guests of the hotel, we wanted a relaxing meal after the Polar Express. The service was slow and the menu lacked home cooking, budget friendly options. The Resturant itself has three odd rooms. We sat in the middle section which was more of a thorough faire between the bar and hotel lobby. Very odd... The food lacked taste and quality. For the target market of families being served at the hotel the design concept and menu just isn't working. Denny's across the street would of been a better choice. read more

Since Williams is a small town and it was at night when I arrived to check in, I was too tired to go to town for dinner, so I just take a chance on this restaurant. The onion soup was surprising good, just a tad salty, but delicious. My party had the halibut filet and also the shrimp ranchero. The food was fresh and well seasoned. I did not try the steaks but was told it was good. Overall, all the dishes that we had were all delcious. I was shocked that a hotel restaurant was this good. Easy to get in on a Saturday night without reservations. Service was very slow. It took a long time to get our drinks and bread. We were brought an appetizer, which we didn't order. We spoke up and it was taken to the correct table. Food was so so. Their baked sweet potatoes are nothing more than the insides of a sweet potato spooned out into a bowl. The wild rice was good, the chicken was a bit dry but seasoned well. The steak was pretty good although undercooked for my preference. The dessert tray looked amazing but don't be fooled! The cheesecake was hot on the outside yet still icy cold toward the center. They definitely took it out of the freezer and zapped it in the microwave. Not good. The key lime cake was better, but again I'm pretty sure it was frozen and not fresh. If I'm in Williams again I will try another steakhouse next time. read more

One of the worst places I have ever been too. It took about 8 minutes to have a server come and greet us. Took about 25 minutes for them to let me know that they were out of the amber beer because they needed to chance the beer. After about 10 minutes they still have not changed the beer so I had to order a different beer. Took about another 20 minutes after the beer to get the food. We also asked the manager if the heater could be turned up and he rudely say the fire place is where you can warm up. He was not nice or considerate towards his guests. I also saw the manager finally help the bartender after about 20 minutes of being swamped in drinks. I am not the one to complain but I was a server for 6 years and I never did this to my quests. I would expect more from this restaurant since my family and I are locals and have been advocates for this place and we are treated so horribly. I would expect better. read more

We had dinner here tonight, and the experience was HORRIBLE. We've been traveling in the Southwest for a while, and hadn't had an opportunity to sample some Mexican food. I know this is billed as a steakhouse, but they also advertise having excellent Mexican food; we even asked our waiter if it was recommended. NOT!! We placed our order, when we got our food We noticed the rice was room temperature, and asked them to nuke it. As soon as the waiter left, I noticed the meats in all 3 items on both of our plates was also room temperature; when a different waiter came over, I stated my concern regarding bacterial growth and food poisoning; he told me it couldn't happen as long as the meat was thoroughly cooked, and when I disagreed he added (condescendingly) that he'd taken a restaurant management food handling course and knew it wouldn't be harmful, but they'd re-make our dishes anyway. When we got our (reheated) dinners, I asked our original waiter for the condiments that were to accompany our food, and he muttered something to the effect that he couldn't carry everything...but they hadn't come out the first time either! On top of everything else, the food was totally and absolutely tasteless and bland. I will give kudo's for a decent salsa with the chips, awesome dark Bavarian bread, and super chilled glasses with our beer. All in all a miserable experience. read more

The Western View Steakhouse is the absolute Best Steakhouse in Wiiliams even thoughout Northern Arizona. The quality of food is outstanding with a full menu... steaks, chicken, seafood, mexican food, pork chops, lamb, salads, soups, appetizers, mouthwatering dessert. Another nice feature is the Kachina Lounge which is full service lounge it has everything that you could think of wanting to drink.
