We ordered three hours early via Grub Hub. The requested time for delivery came and went. We called to get an update and we're yelled at by the woman who answered the phone. "We are busy. You have to wait." No, we don't. We canceled the order and took our business elsewhere. There are other options for Chinese food that are equally good. The prices and delivery experience were good here, unfortunately I wasn't as thrilled about the quality of the food. Pros: + Big portions for not that much money. $9 or so for a large which is too much to eat in one sitting. + Fast and free delivery in the local area. + Food arrived nuclear hot and even after letting it cool off for ten minutes were still burning our mouths. + Egg rolls were pretty good, crispy and hot with good veggie filling. Cons: - Sweet and sour pork was bready, and kind of gray colored in the middle. I didn't love the texture and there were a lot of chewy bits. - Orange chicken was bready as well and did not have the crispy texture I've come to expect from higher quality fried chicken dishes. - A huge food delivery for four people only came with four little soy sauce packets; I guess some is better than nothing. - Two of my party members had stomachaches after eating this dinner - not sure if it was an MSG overload or something else, but the Western Wok was the common element. 8-10 Loved the shrimp chow fun- it truly was fun! The shrimp omg such high quality bomb 10/10 Veggie spring rolls Another 10/10 - amazing ! Perfect amount of grease but not too much and cooked to the sought after "golden brown"- delicious Hot n Sour soup Not my thing but it wasn't bad Wonton soup Was cool not better or worse than most but what was really good was both soups had so many vegetable / ingredients it was refreshing! Now the huge disappointment and lack of afar is strictly for the pineapple "fried" rice Talk about bad the rice was pretty much steamed but kind of fried but it was still white like no sauce had been added to it! However the meat and pineapple in it were really good but the whole dish was bland. Usually when I have ordered this dish from here in the past it is my prize winning best rice ever ! But I don't know that is it. However fast and polite delivery and worth every penny just be wary of this rice I really wish it was up to their usual standard of perfection ! read more

Everything is yummy and they are always fast. The sesame everything is our fave. Sesame strip and sesame shrimp. Sesame seeds on the appetizer ribs are dope too. Kudos to my new Chinese spot. read more

Last night, as a glutton for punishment, I gave Western Wok another try. I tread carefully and opted for Orange Chicken, Orange Shrimp, and Chicken Chow Mein. In the past, these dishes have been a massive disappointment (see past reviews). Last night however, they were definitely better, but still it's just 'okay' quality. For a local place, we'll be going back after this promising improvement in the food. Nothing was soggy, and the sauce wasn't water. We had asked for "Medium" spice, but it was as mild as could be. It's still weird that there is broccoli at the bottom of the large size. The Chicken Chow Mein wasn't overcooked (sometimes you get those crunchy over dried out noodles), and while the sauce wasn't quite what I was hoping for, the chicken in it was tender, and I am eating the cold leftovers for breakfast. Definitely a better eating experience, and I'm going from 1 Star up to 3 Stars. Again, I do advise caution when selecting the specific food. I'm still *never* going to try the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce after the last time. read more

We ordered on Grubhub. Everything was inedible. Tossed the whole mess in the trash. The dumplings were gooey, flavorless & sad. The Spicy eggplant was also devoid of flavor & spice. I was ask why I didn't give the waitress a tip!!!! Never in my life I paid for a full meal and was asked by another employee that never served my table for a tip! I've been coming here for almost 3 yrs and always put tip on service and this one time I didn't right before me and my wife left the restaurant I was confronted by a random employee about not PAYING A TIP?!? Western wok has a great variety of dishes to choose from. At first, I couldn't decide on what to get! I finally settled down for the honey walnut shrimp and spicy garlic beef. Both dishes were fresh and tasty. They also have brown rice as an option for sides. I also ordered the Thai tea which is perfectly sweet and not too milky! If you dine in during their lunch special, it comes with soup and an egg roll! All in all, this place is cleaner than other Chinese restaurants. First time I ate here was back in 2000. So coworkers recommended this place so I stop by for lunch on day. Unfortunately the Burbank P.D pulled me over coming out of this place and gave me a ticket because some called and said I was cruising when I was trying to find the places address. Ordered online for pick up. 6 different entrees & appetizers. Didn't like any of them at all. Hot & sour soup was the worst I've tasted. Calamari was bad as well. Lettuce wrap was the only order I could tolerate. Forget about the BBQ pork and pork chop. The worst part is, the lady who was there was annoyingly rude. It felt like it was a bother for her asking for my order. If your food is not good at all , at least have someone friendly around! I have been coming there for the past few years and I will not anymore. I received poor customer service and will not make the trip anymore. I order a lunch plate and the gave me white rice instead of fried which is not bad, but when I brought it to there attention I did not receive an apology but just a statement that it will be a few minutes. I waited longer than it took to get my original order. I went to the counter to find out what the status was and she said the they were just getting started. Ordered food via Grubhub last night for Western Wok. We do not usually order Chinese, but we wanted to switch things up a bit. Western Wok was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chicken fried rice, the Kung Pao chicken, and chicken chow mein. All of our food was very presentable and yummy. Nothing was soggy or tough. I thought delivery was pretty quick. The driver was friendly. Oh, and I was completely surprised and extremely thrilled that they gave us extra chili paste. I used it to make my own chicken and rice dishes. I used to go here years ago. I decided to try it again since my absolute favorite Chinese food place, Frontier Wok, is closed for remodeling. Well it was a big disappointment. Both my husband and I didn't like the food, very bland in taste (most tasted like canned stuff). The wonton soup tasted like veggies in water. I am 100% sure we will not be trying this place again. One of the only places around Burbank that has sweet & sour fish, and it is delicious!! Some of the other items tend to be hit or miss, but overall still good Chinese food. Looking for a good Chinese restaurant near work and found this place. My work friends and I have ordered last week and tonight. It's not just good, it's pretty great. Every item so far has been delicious. Prices and portions are great as well. I asked and they bagged our orders separately. They have their own parking lot too! Overall, great food and service! I have ordered from here twice. This place is fantastic. It's a small, efficient, takeout Chinese place. Gold standard of this type of cuisine. The food is very well prepared. Nothing is drowning in gravy and all of the vegetables are identifiable. The portions are large and the flavors are great. I ordered the special pepper chicken on the House Specials menu and loved it. I also really enjoyed the kung pao tofu. The shrimp fried rice is perfectly average and I would get it again. I ordered my food online like always. Long story short, I usually tip. But unfortunately due to finances, I wasn't able to. Ate here twice this month after not coming for a time (the friend I lunched with left LA). The ambience is standard cafe. Beyond that, service was prompt, the waitresses pleasant, the price reasonable, and the food delicious. Ate in Chinatown recently and choices on the menu, price, and food were NOT as good as Western Wok. Have to say I ate lunch; can't speak for service, etc. in evening. I live right down the road from western wok, so it was always one of my go tos because the food is good and it's convenient. I always order the teriyaki chicken, but last night I was given the wrong order. After walking back home I realized this, so I called them. The woman who answered argued with me on how I was wrong and it's the teriyaki chicken (i should have taken a picture, but didn't think about it at the time, but this meal was breaded, came with a variety of vegetables including mushrooms, and a different sauce. My norm was not breaded, marinated in teriyaki sauce, and only comes with broccoli) and so on and she refused to even consider the fact that I received the wrong order. So being at a loss, I ate the meal anyway and it was not bad. I'm more bothered by the way that I was treated by the woman on the phone. Sadly to say, this situation has cost them my business. The food deserves a 4/5, but the customer service deserves a 1/5 read more
