Today, we had family dinner together at Saraya Thai Cuisine Burbank. This is one of our favorite Thai restaurants--we really love coming here because the food is always delicious and the staff are consistently kind and welcoming. Today, we ordered Tom Yum, Calamari Salad, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice, and everything tasted so good. The only downside was the Calamari Salad. We ordered it thinking it would be fried calamari, but it turned out to be steamed. It actually looked almost raw, so before eating, I asked if it could be fried instead. Unfortunately, our waitress told me it only comes steamed, so I was a bit disappointed and didn't eat it at all. Other than that, the service was very friendly, all the dishes were delicious, and the prices were reasonable, which is why we really like this place. When we first arrived, it wasn't very crowded, but as we continued our dinner, more and more people came in, and it eventually became quite busy.

San Fernando Valley certainly has its fair share of Thai restaurants, and Saraya Thai is our latest adventure in our search for delicious Thai cuisine! Saraya is nice little spot right off Olive and has a bright, airy interior with nice wood accents everywhere. The staff are fairly friendly, although not as swift as I'd like it to be at times. For our early dinner, we had Curry Gyōza (with green curry), Pad Sew Eew with Tofu, Pad Thai with Chicken, Tom Yun Fried Rice (a new one for me!), and of course, my favorite dessert, Mango Sticky Fried Rice. To start off, the Curry gyōza is a welcome start, putting a savory twist to the popular appetizer that's not quite Thai, but delicious nonetheless. Of the two noodles, the Pad Thai is more successful with its sweet slightly nutty flavor grabbing your taste buds with every bite while the Pad Sew Eew is more polite more reserve in its flavor. It's still good, but it is more ordinary. The Tom Yun Fried Rice is, however interesting. I've had Tom Yun Kun soup, and although its sourness is not really my thing (give me Tom Kah Kah any day!), this fried rice version is unique. I'm not sure if I'm love it, but it is interesting. The fried rice just adds a different dimension to it, in addition to the now drier vegetables sprinkled on it. I may just stick to my Pineapple Fried Rice, however. Finally, the Mango Sticky Rice is also different, but not different. Unlike the purple rice versions that I had that clearly used a different grain of rice (which has a slightly nuttier flavor), this dessert seems to consist of regular Jasmine rice with perhaps food coloring? Reminds me of that blue milk from Star Wars. The Mango Sticky Rice is still good, but the extra pale blue color doesn't do much to enhance the experience. Overall, a pretty good Thai restaurant.

Second time here and it's not a fluke. Tiny strip mall and the space is comfortable enough. Service is friendly and portions are huge. We had a pad thai with pork that was delicious, especially with added chili. Dumplings were delicious and we also did a won ton soup which was loaded and delicious. A great choice for Thai in Burbank.

Came back for lunch on a rainy day. Not exactly sure why on rainy days Thai food is the move, but it is! The service was fast and friendly and they accommodated my request for an off menu lunch special. Duck pad se ew. It was super delicious and flavorful. Saraya was busy today at lunch hour and the ambiance was vibrant and bustling. Will come back soon!

Came for dinner. We were stuffed! Lots of good food. We tried the roasted duck curry, moo ping and the gang, and mango sticky rice dessert. While we got 2* spicy level, the curry wasn't that spicy. It was flavorful and rich with the duck pieces (including skin!) and pineapple pieces. We also got 2* spicy moo ping and the gang. The pork skewers were sweet and succulent. The papaya salad was quite hot! We needed the curry to whet the heat. The mango sticky rice dessert closed out a great dinner. Parking lot is a little small but should be enough available or park on the street. There was a steady stream of takeout and delivery orders so this place is pretty busy!

Had a supper disappointing experience today. I went in to pick up my to go order on my 30 minute lunch, which I have done many times before here, and was told my food still wasn't ready. My pickup time was for 12:33 & it was about 12:39 by then so I ask how much longer which I am told about 5 minutes. I go outside to wait & within 2 minutes I get a text it's ready. The lady meets me at the door & hands me the food. Had I know asking how much longer meant they were going to give me inedible food I would've never asked. I can't believe I paid $20 for cold mushy broccoli covered in so much seasoning it's quite literally inedible. See the pics for what I mean. & it wasn't even good seasoning :/

Bottom -line: pretty decent and cheap lunch special . Smaller portions -- even for the lunch special. I ordered yellow curry spicy with side of brown rice . Comes with forgettable side salad , but the spring roll was nice and crispy . The yellow curry was a little bit oily, but spicy as ordered. Needs a little extra cream. All in all a good price for lunch special , if you're looking for a lighter Thai option.

Saraya is an authentic Thai spot! The flavors overall of each dish to the starting appetizer were all 10/10 rating. Got a a hefty amount of pad thai with chicken. My ground chicken spicy basil was 1 of the best ones I've ever tried. Over rice with fried egg of course. The pot stickers were fried to perfection + the dipping sauce. We got two 32oz of Thai tea to wash it all down. LOVE THE THAI TEA HERE. I will be back :)

Thai tea with their cool mural in the background. Cute mug!

My son didn't make a reservation because it was a Wednesday night and he didn't think it would be crowded. But with 5 adults and a baby carriage, we had to wait for the right table because the somewhat small restaurant was full. We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.

I had put in a request to ensure the bowl was prepared vegan and the employee assured me it was, when picking it up. She was friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was small and cute, clean and well maintained. Parking was also very easy in their lot. The bowl I got consisted of purple rice, rice noodles, veggies, tofu and a tamarind vinaigrette with a satay glaze. The sauces were very savory and had a good blend of being spicy and sweet. Everything was so well seasoned and it was hearty and filling. I could really taste the freshness of everything and the textures were all on point! It was very reasonably priced for what I got!

They have the allergen notations up on their menu board - gluten free/vegan/dairy free. For me who has gluten and dairy allergies/intolerances; I have to constantly manage what I eat. I don't have celiac so for all those my GF BFF's - please let the staff know if you have severe allergies. So from what they advised me, the following protein are gluten free: - chicken satay - steak satay - teriyaki meatball I will double check with the staff next time on the organic tofu - which part in the tofu that is not gluten free. I'd love to try their tofu if it's in fact gluten free. I had their meatball with the tamarind vinaigrette which is so delicious and fresh. I had it with half brown rice and half salad. Their brown rice is not the typical brown rice. It's more like purple-ish brown rice that you'd find in a korean restaurant which is delicious. The 2nd time I was there, they ran out of the meatball so I opted for the chicken satay and tried it with the curry sauce (which they said it's one of their most popular sauces). The curry sauce is not marked as dairy free but I tried it anyway. It's really savory and good and had a bit of kick of spice to it. I can't wait to go back again and hopefully they make more of those meatballs. :)

The roti was highly recommended, and although I've enjoyed roti before, nothing has come close to this version. It was incredibly delicious--light, buttery, and perfectly flaky, with delicate layers that practically melted in my mouth. The accompanying dipping sauce complemented it beautifully. I'm a big fan of drunken noodles, but the version served here was truly exceptional--the best I've ever had. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. Our server was attentive, patient, and genuinely kind, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Limited parking in back, but plenty on the street this small sibling eatery to Rustic Spoon - Valley Village has a lot of those familiar beats with both inside and patio seating. I haven't been to this location in many years, but the service and eats definitely had me nostalgic. Stopping in for dinner before an event night, my friend Shaun and I enjoyed the Pad Thai (him) and their Warm Noodle (myself) w/ Tofu. The portions are smaller than the Rustic Spoon in Valley Village, but the flavors and quality are abundant. From curry to desser, noodles to rice dishes, appetizers, salads, soups, chef's specials and even a kid's menu. No wine, beer or alcoholic beverages available here, however excellent mocktails (Rose Mojito, Bloody Lychee), teas, and various classic beverages. We experienced a minor mix up with my order initially, I was brought a noodle dish with steak, but I think it was meant for another table since I don't eat meat and can't remember the last time I used steak in a sentence. It was an easy fix and we had zero other issues, aside for me leaving my bag at the table - they were super kind enough to flag us down on the sidewalk. Very clean and intimate inside with nice lighting from the street and their own special touch at night. Restrooms for customers Wi-Fi available upon request. Patio is pet friendly. Solid for groups, but absolutely plan ahead (they do take reservations). Open daily from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM on weekdays as well as from 3 PM until 9 PM Saturdays and Sundays.
