We're long standing customers of this location - Previously Frontier Wok, then Western Wok. At first, when WW opened, it was decent. The last 4 times however, spanning the last two months or so, the food has really gone down hill. We had such a warm day (too hot to cook at home), that my spouse decided to pick up an order and bring it home, despite our recent disappointments. Well tonight finally laid this place to rest for us. Soggy orange chicken, pan fried noodles, if you can call them that, that had hardly any vegetables, slimy mushrooms, and sauce that was flavorless. Even the fortune cookie tasted weird! Last few times, I found the dishes to be pasty, rather than saucy and nicely prepared. I'm sorry, but we'll not be back :( read more

Tried this place out based on highly rated reviews from the community. Unfortunately my experience was not great. Ordered food online and was unable to get a hold of the restaurant. Decided to just go and see if the order went thru and the place was empty. Food was already ready and was sitting there so by the time we got home it was luke warm. My hometown Chinese fave. Located in a cute little house on a triangle corner on N Hollywood Way, just south of Burbank Blvd. Staff is super friendly and will remember you after a few visits. The food is always fresh, always hot, and cooked perfectly. Nothing here is sitting under food lamps. It's simple Chinese fare with great flavor. The tofu is great quality (has hints of tea), and you can see the workers sorting through boxes of fresh vegetables at the counter. The orange chicken has the important balance of crispiness and sweet sauce. The Chow Fun noodles are tasty comfort food, straight from the wok. Your money will go VERY far. The amount you would pay at Panda Express feeds twice as many people here. I'm talking ~$20 for two people. You can get a cheap lunch special that includes rice, egg roll, and small soup. Small sizes are just enough; order large sizes so you can have leftovers. read more

When you go to eat in the restaurant the staff is friendly. When you get delivery- they are also friendly. It's a great neighborhood restaurant. You will see the regulars, and the food is always good. We like the dumplings, orange chicken - because it can be ordered "spicy ", and the moo shu. The shrimp is always good. read more

I've lived across the street for a couple years but never went to this restaraunt because of terrible Yelp reviews. I just had a feeling I would be greatly disappointed, so I steared clear. When I saw there was a new owner I thought I'd finally give it a try, and it was great! I got take out and it was ready very fast and generous portions too. After I had paid and was just waiting at the counter, I was asked if I wanted something to drink while I waited. I said no thank you, but it was a nice gesture. Absolutely one of the best pan-fried dumplings I've ever had! and I'm a dumpling Queen the dumplings are crispy yet soft, juicy and the sauce is amazing that comes with it. Also the chicken salad is amazing the chicken is cooked to perfection moist yet with a light crispy crust the salad dressing knocks it out of the park it's so good. Omg! This place was terrible! The cashier has NO customer service skills, does not care to offer any, and wishes you would go away!!! Clearly they don't like to chop/serve, and sautée any vegetables here. There are none on the menu!!! If you notice they only serve are green beans or broccoli. Sad... Ahh first world problems. I have ordered take-out from here twice and so far I am pleased. I primarily tried them because they had my favorite dish, Walnut Shrimp. It is delicious! The shrimps are large, just lightly battered and crisp. The walnuts are whole and crunchy and it's not drowning in sauce. Flavor is great, just a little sweet! The Beef Broccoli has a very generous portion of beef (though I like lots of broccoli). The beef is tender, the broccoli crunchy and nice flavor with lots of garlic...yum! The Mu Shoo Pork was equally delicious. Very good, lots of vegetable and the pork was tender, the pancakes were carefully wrapped to keep them soft and warm. I didn't care for the steamed dumplings...too big, too much dough and kinda gooey, that's why only four stars. This will be added to my list of favorite places when in Burbank. read more

I feel so bad writing this because the people that work there are so nice. This was my first time. I stopped on a whim on my way home this afternoon. I ordered a chicken salad and cream cheese wontons. My boyfriend got the orange chicken which came with rice and an egg roll. I got home and opened everything up. The cream cheese wontons were really crispy and yummy, I will give them that! The chicken salad was literally a layer of lettuce, large square DEEP FRIED chicken chunks (disgusting), and more fried wonton strips than I have ever seen on a salad! That's it. Nothing else. Absolutely repulsive. The dressing was the scariest thing I've legit ever seen. It was hello and super thick...looked like candy almost. I threw it away without trying it. My boyfriend opened the orange chicken, took 2 bites and tossed it. He opened the egg roll, took 1 bite and tossed it. What a waste of $20. Now I have to make us food for lunch. This is good classic spot for Chinese food. My kids who are picky eaters LOVE there chow main. The signature stuff is really something to try it's really good. My family and I have gone to eat there and gotten delivery. They always say it's gonna take 30 mins or so but it's WAY SHORTER. They deliver fast. I think it's a family owned business.. Got in the car and opened the container..Omg..huge portion! Soo much beef too! Disappointed! We were in the area for lunch so we decided to stop by and give it a try! Driving by for years and always wanting to try it. I honestly have to admit that I was disappointed!! The chicken and broccoli dish should be called "broccoli and some chicken". I guess I had higher expectations for this place! I felt like I was eating hospital food! Last night I ordered lemon chicken and fried rice. The fried rice was fine however, the lemon chicken was a mystery and not a good one. I could not cut it which I though was strange. I then used my fork to open up a piece of it and what I discovered was not good. It appeared to be composed of thin ropes of something- definitely did not look like any chicken I have ever seen. It also had a slimy coating of something- again I do not know what. I have never in my life seen chicken look like this. Needless to say I will not be ordering from here ever again. The Kung Pao Chicken was delicious and I loved that I was able to chose my spice level when I ordered online. I chose "hot" (from a choice of mild, medium, hot, and very hot) and it was perfect! Western Wok is one of those unknowable places as I only get to order food from them while I'm at work, so, perhaps this review will be shortsighted or at least limited in scope. Their delivery service is fantastic, confirming the address and searching for it if I gave them the wrong one. The food is good, solidly Chinese American with no surprises.
