Okay. Gotta get back on here and update y'all on this place. In my last review, we said we basically only order said favorites. Today we tried to shake things up and tried some new entrees: 1. Beef Crispy Noodles 2. Chicken and Mixed Vegetables 3. Salt & Pepper Shrimp 4. Green Beans & Chicken (our usual) 5. Hot and Sour Soup (our usual) ALL. AMAAAAAAAAZING!! I mean, Western Wok, you are doing it for me. I couldn't breath I was so full. We still have food left over for tomorrow and we ordered all SMALL portions. The hot and sour soup was EXTRA spicy this time, and I loved every minute of it. Everything just tastes so fresh and well seasoned... The Chicken & Veg was very clean and light, perfect if you don't want a heavier taste profile. I really like western wok. When this place used to be Frontier Wok it was a family tradition growing up to get take out from here. As western wok it's not exactly the same but I still really like them. I love the veggie fried rice, my dad the beef chow mein. I placed a phone order from Western Wok, which was fast and easy with only a 15 minute wait time until my food was ready for pick up. Picking up my food was also quick and easy as they had a parking lot behind the restaurant and street parking at the front. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nonexistent and the team member at the front making the transaction was not particularly lively. I ordered their wonton soup, orange chicken, combo chow mein, pork fried rice, and broccoli beef. All dishes were average to below average. The pork in the fried rice was an indistinguishable meat (unable to tell if they accidentally gave me chicken or if that is what their pork looked like). The orange chicken is the only dish I'd reorder from what I tried. It's an okay place to get food if on a budget but if you appreciate quality Asian cuisine, this place is not for you. read more

Best Chinese in burbank! We order here often and especially for family parties. They do party trays. Our favorite is the pan fried noodles, garlic green beans, kung pao chicken, orange chicken and Mongolian beef. I see a few comments on here as far as customer service - more specifically a lady working at the front. Well...THEY"RE RIGHT!!! I've come here over the last few years maybe about 20 times and many of those visits I've dealt with this impersonal and unfriendly service. I love Chinese food and just decided to ignore it. However, my last experience, just yesterday (A GRUBHUB order) sealed the deal of me not wanting to come back. I ordered combination fried rice and when I opened the container, I noticed a clear foul stench. It was definitely the shrimp which had clearly turned and went bad. So, I had to personally go back and get a new order. When I went, guess who was there? Yup, the rude lady. SO, happy night for me. Foul food, ruined night, bad customer service. Good times. No "sorry", no offer of kindness at all, discount, free soup, whatever. I would've just taken a sincere apology. So, I got a replacement of the order - beef fried rice this time. Grubhub gave me 20% off my next order. Anyway. Totally angry with this place. Reported them to the health department to boot. read more

I ordered Western Wok this evening for delivery and I was incredibly satisfied with my meal. I ordered with GrubHub through the Yelp app and got a small orange chicken, small double mushroom chicken, and small vegetable chow mein. Our food ended up arriving 20 minutes early and was pipping hot when it got to us! Everything was so delicous. I was expecting the mushroom chicken to be like moo goo gai pan (white sauce) but it was made with more of a savory brown sauce. But it wasn't a problem at all because it delicious anyways. The portion sizes were wonderful. Enough for two people with lots of leftovers. Overall this was one of the better Chinese places I've had. Delicious food, great prices, and fast delivery. We visited the western wok twice this past week. This fairly new Chinese restaurant does not have the same quantity as the prior restaurant..the Chinese Wok. The broccoli chicken does not have have the same quality chicken or amount. The fried shrimp is all batter and no shrimp. The shrimp fried rice does not have near the quantity and size of shrimp or quality. They also do not have the same kind of friendly and happy hospitality. No smiles, thank you's or pleasant attitudes. read more

You know what's awesome? When you to go to Western Wok in Burbank, order take-out, then wait and watch as a older kitchen worker puts food orders together with his mask underneath his chin during a COVID outbreak. Not only that, it's FANTASTIC to watch him proceed to wipe his runny nose repeatedly and then directly touch the food he's preparing. Wait, did I say how STUPENDOUS it was when we called him on it? He actually SHRUGGED before pulling his mask back up just underneath his nose. We had to get the attention of the woman who rang us up ( it appeared to be his adult daughter). We didn't want to risk getting sick (or just having food with snot wiped all over the carton) so we canceled it immediately, got a refund and left. He's probably still behind the counter as I type this, sniffling, wiping his nose, and rubbing it against the to-go containers. Stay safe, all! read more

This is a good Chinese restaurant overall. We think the portions are great, we have enough leftovers for a couple of more meals afterwards. The problem with this place is: They make a otherwise tasty beef and green bean dish which would be nice if not for the hot red pepper flakes they put in it and they do NOT warn the customers by putting a little red flame on the menu or at LEAST listing the ingredients of each menu item so we the customer have the advance knowledge of exactly what we are ordering and what to expect for the price we pay for it. And there is a very good chance they do this with other dishes as I've haven't tried everything on the menu. But be warned. I am annoyed that I had to throw the whole green bean dish out because of it! Money down the drain for us because the cook apparently believes the red pepper flakes aren't hot? Maybe not to the cook and perhaps not for most of the customers (although maybe it is but we'll never know because they never said anything and just didn't go back?). But there ARE some folks out there like ME at the very least who are hypersensitive to spicy food. And if I SEE an ingredient on the menu for a particular dish that lists red pepper flakes, I DON'T ORDER IT!!!! But here's the thing. This restaurant does NOT list EVERY ingredient on the menu. It's very vague and incomplete. For example. I and my husband HATE bell peppers because for us it's horrible and it ruins the taste of the whole dish. But this restaurant just lists "vegetables" on their menu without being specific as to what it is you're ordering? And it doesn't end there. Oh no. This restaurant does NOT put a little red flame by the dish on the menu to WARN YOU that you are ordering something that might be too spicy for you! So this whole situation is very annoying. As much as I love this place, I frequently find myself in the situation that if I FORGET to tell these people exactly what NOT to put in our food because it's NOT on the menu, I GET BURNED ALL OVER AGAIN!!! There's a very good chance we won't go back there again. We've been going there for quite a while and I HATE having to give up on a restaurant once I found a good one, or at least, one I can tolerance due to my sensitivities to food. So here's a warning to those out there who might have the same issues as me, who were contemplating eating there. Buyer beware!!! read more

The first thing I'll say is when you dine in the seats are so comfortable and you're at the right height for sitting at the table it really sucks when you go to sit in a booth and they're all broken down. So with that said you can get comfortable and keep ordering food! The service was quick, polite & food was delicious - took a little bit longer for the walnut shrimp but it was spot-on. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. I came here because of location convenience in a moment when I had to eat in the next thirty minutes OR ELSE and was very close to Western Wok. They make their dishes SUPER fast. Like ten minutes fast. The building is pretty old looking and it doesn't look the cleanest. Everything is kind of covered in a sheen of grease. But you can see into the kitchen and that does look clean. I ordered the shrimp veggie lunch special available until 4pm and come with a veggie egg roll and white rice ($7.50). It was a generous portion and was quite tasty and not greasy. Veggies tasted fresh and I ate the entire things because I was HANGRY. I was avoiding this place based on its external appearance but... don't just a book by its cover and give Western Wok a try! There is a small parking lot attached. read more

Great food, family business, and affordable prices. They are open for take out and delivery in these crazy times! This is a cross between "traditional" food and "Americanese" food. Delivery was quick and painless with contactless delivery. Serving sizes are decent enough for family style sharing. Two entrees can feed two very hungry people or be stretched into dinner + lunch. Couple of favorites: -cream cheese puffs for appetizer (arrived crispy and not soggy!!) -Mongolian beef (with a decent amount of beef instead of all onions) -orange chicken (served with some broccoli as well, looked like white meat chicken) The wonton soup was decent but plain.
