I really like this place. I'm a fan of old fashioned cake donuts and this place has a great selection. I recommend going earlier in the morning. The donuts are warm and crisp and taste like heaven. They don't stay as fresh the next day if you get a dozen, but I think that is because they're not shellacked like Krispy Kreme. Their baked goods are excellent as well. I had this yummy macaroon mini pie with chocolate chips that was so delicious that I had to get another one the next week. Also their lunch pastries are nice and filling as well. I'm just going to talk about the customer service I received from the owner (the wife). I was planning a donut party so I came to order donuts. Needed some pink ones with sprinkles on it. She took my order with an attitude and rolled eyes when I asked for just white sprinkles. But I still proceeded to order more. Next I needed two larger donuts and asked if she could make them . She said no and then she said yes. So then we are at the register and my total for dozen donuts and two larger size donuts is $35. I asked why and she said because the extra two donuts are $7.50 each. My jaw dropped. Almost $8 for a freaking donut?! And when I say I wanted larger I didn't mean the size of a human head. I walked out and will never come back again. Got 3 dozen donuts and two larger ones from Krispy Kreme for less than $30. Really wanted to support a local donut shop but not with that attitude. And trying to rip me off just because I said I needed it for the next day. read more

I love their donuts. My family loves all their donuts. Glazed, cake, twists, fritters. Coconut topped cake donut was my favorite, until today. Their pumpkin cake donut topped with toasted coconut is my new favorite!!! It is so moist and you can actually taste the pumpkin, the toasted coconut is great topper which takes it to another level. Westernco Donut stands out in Seattle's collection of mostly-poor doughnut shops for its consistently good doughnuts (and other pastries) and stand-out old-fashioneds and rock-bottom prices. As of the time of writing, this is the best doughnut shop I have found in the area. Just for kicks, I picked up a danish and was surprised by how rich, sweet, chewy, and somewhat crispy it was. It was way better than anything one would find at the market and rivaled the quality of many more proper bakeries. The doughnuts were also on-point. The raised were a bit dry and too chewy, but were also sweet and rich. Not perfect, but quite good. The Boston cream were made with dough that was the usual soft but dry; however, their good chocolate and generous portion of excellent sweet, floral cream made them stand out anyway. I was a bit disappointed by the cruller I tried because despite its sweetness and crispy exterior, the inside was somewhat dry. The apple fritter I had was sweet despite being slightly burnt and a little bit dry. It was more of a soft fritter, with a bready interior and crispy but not crunchy edges. For those unaware, this is the wrong kind of fritter, but it was quite good nonetheless. The real winner though was the old-fashioned. Just shy of perfection, it was very sweet, rich, laced with strongish spice and floral notes. The edges were even slightly crispy without the doughnut being dry and the petal shape was mostly developed. You can't go wrong at Westernco and you can go very right. If you care about quality doughnuts, this or Factory Doughnuts should be your default shop. read more

Super happy with mah purchase here. The service was exceptionally friendly, even on national donut day when I'm sure they had a ridiculous number of customers. The glazed donuts I got were fresh and they GAVE ME THE FRESH ONES rather than the few hour old donuts without even being prompted. Wow. So good. The owner's wife was kinda rude to me this morning. She raised her voice at me while taking orders and said I confused her?! Sure, I'm not the donut expert! I may not know some of th donut names and what they look like! I've been to this place ALL THE TIME with the fact that I've to drive 25 minutes one way from Seattle just to get the donuts. Cheap, simple, and tastes nostalgic. A lot of places sell donuts with icing and other things, but never plain without the frills. Least this is the place I can get one! This place brings back to the age where men would get their cup of Morning Joe with a bag of donuts you take to work. Get your sugar and coffee fix on the go! The fresh donuts in the case are good - but I was sold a huge box of stale donut holes. The woman behind the counter gave me a "deal" for a whole box, and in the evening when I put them out for a party - STALE, and found old sprinkles on the bottom of the box. We eat out at least twice a week so it stands to reason that we've had our fair share of great and not so great customer service experiences. Sometimes the food is so good that you make allowances for somewhat shoddy customer service. However, the service at WesternCo Donuts in the CrossRoads area is so bad that even we refuse to ever step foot in the store again. It begins when you enter the store. The lady literally yells at you, "What you want?!" You walk up to the counter and start looking at the very large array of donuts and again, she''ll bark at you, "What you want?!" Note that this has happened on multiple occassions and never once has there been anyone else in the store so it's not like she's hurrying to help others. When we've attempted to ask questions about the donuts, she just stares at us and doesn't answer. And if you attempt to tell her that you need time to look over the options, she becomes even more impatient; folding her arms across her chest and glaring at you. The entire experience is just not worth it for a few dollars worth of donuts. Either drive out to Krispy Kreme in Issaquah or get them at the grocery store. read more

Westernco is a fairly standard donut shop in terms of what they carry. I usually go in for a dozen donuts in the early morning because it comes out to a bit less than $10, which seems to be a bargain up here in Bellevue for fresh donuts. The lady behind the counter always asks if I want an apple fritter- not sure if those are their most or least popular, but they're tasty nonetheless. Or maybe she's running a hustle on me as well, but I'll take it. I'm a sucker for old-fashioned cake donuts with chocolate, as well as chocolate chocolate cake donuts, and I can say that Westernco definitely delivers on those two fronts. I can attest to their plain cake donuts as well, which are just the right amount of sweet- not bland, but also not diabetes-inducing. And maple bars? Yes, please. I know they also sell hot dogs (100% beef according to the label in the window) in croissants, which sound tasty, but I only go there for the donuts. Oh, take cash. I think I had a conversation with the lady that their credit card machine is on the fritz frequently, so better not to take that chance and to get your donut on! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Now living in San Francisco, I make a stop here every time I come to visit family. The doughnuts here are so incredibly fresh. The dough is perfection, not too light or too heavy, just right. The owner is so incredibly sweet and always throws in a couple extra doughnut holes.
