So I've been holding back from posting a review because the food Has at times been really very good. We used to go here all the time and get take out at least once a week. We stopped going here after the girl that was handling our takeout order was a complete bitch! All I wanted to do was check my order to make sure all the orders had a pickle because if you order your kids the same thing and only 1 of them gets a pickle it can start a whole thing. She would not let me go through my order, insisted that I was being rude for even suggesting that I go through the order and that all of the orders had a pickle. Let's be clear one of my kids did not get a pickle that day after all that! So fast forward to today, almost 2 years later. We decided to give it another go. We waited almost 20 minutes for someone to take our order (they were not busy). Another 25 minutes to actually get our food. Then they brought me a burger with a small amount of unmelted shredded cheese just sprinkled in the center. First time in my life I had to send food back! The chicken fingers were hard? Not the breading the actual interior chicken. And the wait staff was pretty much non existent and less than enthusiastic about anything. Needless to say we will not be back. And will defiantly encourage people to not go here! read more

Definitely a nice spot in uptown westerville for brunch, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Quaint diner style and atmosphere. Small, and gets jammed packed during brunch hours on the weekend so do expect to wait! I came on a Sunday morning around 11am by myself so i wasnt forced to wait since they have bar seating available. The kitchen can be seen from bar, it was pretty cool to watch them cook the food. Young wait staff from either local college or hughschool i am assuming but they were all friendly and attentive. You could tell this is a regular place to dine for folks which gives it that nice small town feel. Their breakfast burritos seemed to be popular and were HUGE! I ordered the eggs Benedict, very tasty..they came with potatoes, lightly seasoned. Menu prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Very yummy- looking forward to my return and trying out some different menu items. This time my girlfriend and I split the uptown salad and a Reuben with house made chips. Everything was great. That with iced tea and our bill only came to $20! Can't beat it. My fries were so heavily salted that I could not eat them, so they brought me new ones, after I told them that I was probably going to be fine with my big sandwich. They insisted. I think I was expecting something totally different before walking into this place and it killed the vibe. When you walk in it's like a old diner, very small. Outside patio area was not open even though it was 70 degrees. Not a huge crowd for dinner. My first impression was that the tables and floor were not very clean. By far the best breakfast restaurant I've ever been to. The portion sizes fairly large and will fill you up quick. It's also very moderately priced. I would say the price id a steal for how much food you get. The servers are always super nice and they have a nice selection of seating. Their patio isn't the greatest but I still prefer to eat outside then inside and it's the food that matters. The food is always cooked perfectly and quickly. We found this on Yelp on a biz trip and popped in for a quick lunch. The area is really cute and would like to go and explore a little more. I came here with friends from them wanting to try out this place, and I would def come back when I'm back in town. I got corned beef hash and it was a large portion and very tasty. Lots of corned beef - not crispy, but tasted like it came right off a slab of corned beef. Potatoes and green peppers were excellent. The biscuit was also good, though a bit cold. Oh geez. My husband ordered the meatloaf. There was a HUGE mound of some kind of potato with yellow glue for gravy.... seriously the gravy was butter, flour and a bit of water. You could hang wallpaper with that paste. We ordered a side of onion rings. They were good. When my husband and I told the waitress the meatloaf and potatoes were inedible she offered him another meal but we were so disgusted we just wanted to leave. She gave us the bill. Fifteen dollars for slop. My husband complained that he didn't eat it. She said, "you took a few bites so we have to charge you". Seriously??? Just left this place. Ordered the country fried steak and mashed potatoes. The potatoes came out and looked as if someone had scraped the bottom of a burnt pan. When I asked the server if they were mashed potatoes, she replied "yes, but it is the end of the night." So i ordered tater tots as a replacement. They came out, i bit into one and spat it back in the bowl, as it was still frozen. The server returned them to the kitchen, and returned with a bowl of tater tots. They were hot this time, but to my gross surprise, these were my old tater tots(one of which i had half eaten) that were dumped back into the fryer. I would NEVER recommend this diner. In addition, there was a bus boy or server that was rude, inattentive and watched my food sit in the window and did not lift a finger. Also, no one in charge to talk with.no manager. read more

Good afternoon to all. My lady and I have been to the Westerville Grill many times and have enjoyed it each and every time until we went there for lunch on 9/11/17. The email listed below was sent to the owner that my lady emailed and I wanted to wait to see if a response would have been sent back but as of 10/16/17, we have not received an email response at all. With that being said, we will not be going back to the Grill due to the lack of respect that was shown to us while we were there in addition to not receiving a response from the owner. Thank you. Please read the email below: Tony, I am a long time resident of Westerville and have visited the grill many times. I was in your restaurant yesterday for lunch and had one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences ever. I ordered a sandwich (BLT) which came out absolutely cold. The cheese, which I paid as an "up charge," was not even melted. The server inquired how our food was and I informed her that it was cold and showed her the cheese not being melted; I did ask for another cheese at this time, as I ordered cheddar and was given shredded cheese on the sandwich. She apologized and took the sandwich back to the cook window and asked that it be remade. The cook was overheard questioning your server about the re-order in front of other customers for approximately 3 minutes before he took the sandwich from her. The server returned approximately 2 minutes later, apologizing to us and stated "I'm sorry...the cook just re-heated your sandwich." I am in management and have been in the food business; this is completely unacceptable on various levels...1) I asked the sandwich be remade, not reheated. This did not happen. 2) When I asked to speak to management, I was told by another server that the manager had "switched shifts" and that no management was present that could address the concerns; that this particular server had no authority to address anything, hence leaving no one in charge to handle customer issues and 3) leaving a server to argue with a cook, who not only refused to follow customer requests, but was seen/heard by other customers to be completely insubordinate. I was given your manager's name, whom I contacted this morning. "Lilly" indicated that she would address these concerns with the kitchen manager. She also informed me that I could come back and get the sandwich. Ridiculous. I have no interest in coming back this morning to pick up a sandwich that should have been made correctly yesterday! What I do want to know is: 1) How is this situation being addressed with your cook and 2) How do you plan to address this situation with your customer. I am hoping you can rectify this situation for me. Obviously, not having management available during open hours proves to be an issue, not only for your customers, but for the staff that you employ. read more

10/22/17 Around 10:30am My husband and I stopped here for breakfast after church. We were immediately seated and asked what drink we wanted. We waited 10-12 minutes to order as it was very busy. I did notice a senior citizen walk in (probably a regular) sit at the bar and had food within 5 minutes. Our waitress (Chelsea I believe, older lady) told us she'd be with us. When she came she asked what we wanted, I ordered Swiss burger with sweet potato tater tots and my husband ordered corn beef hash with eggs, veggies and sour dough bread. Our food arrived in about 12-13 minutes. I received regular tater tots instead of what I asked for. I got the waitress attention and said do you have sweet potato tater tots because that is what I asked for. She said no you didn't you pointed at the regular. I actually said sweet potato. (I always order sweet potato if it is on the menu) She walked away loudly saying no you didn't you asked for tater tots. I looked at my husband and he said I heard you say sweet potato. She loudly said I will put in the order. When she came back our way I told her don't even worry about it. I was very disappointed in her service b/c she really raised her voice and I was polite to her despite her rushing and bringing me the wrong order. I'd like to point out that she messed up another ladies order of an omelette and had to bring out a new one. It probably made her frustrated that it happened to her again. I don't think that is a reason to speak rudely to another customer. As far as food quality: my burger was medium on the inside but burn/over cooked on the outside. This made it taste burnt over all. My husbands food was yummy. No complaints there. I am big on service and how people speak to me so I will not be returning nor recommending to anyone. I've only been here one time and it was for a brunch about a year ago. This is a restaurant right down the street from my house so I'm not really sure why I haven't been back since then but I really liked their patio. We sat out there on a really nice day and we were actually the only ones out there. Our waitress waited on us very nicely and it didn't seem like we were in and out of there pretty quickly. There is a dance studio behind the restaurant so sometimes it looks like the parking lot can get filled up in the evening when drop off and pick up is but that doesn't really seem to be a problem too much. It's 45 mph turning into the parking lot but even though you're going slow, the driveway opening is pretty small so you could miss it and have to turn around. I personally feel like I am more drawn to eating on the patio than eating inside because the inside does seem pretty small and I'm not big on the diner feel because it feels impersonal to me. I do think it's a cute little place and I likely will be back sometime. read more

I previously wrote a review of Westerville Grill and gave it 2 stars, BUT my husband and I have been back several times since and have completely changed our attitudes. I now give it 5 stars. Their breakfast is SO good! The breakfast sandwich is really good, and we really like the bread it comes on. Not to mention it's HUGE. My usual go-to is the breakfast burrito. Quick tip: get the potatoes on the side instead of inside the burrito. One of our servers recommended that because it makes the burrito less dry. Makes a big difference and the burrito that much tastier. Last time we were there my husband got a pancake special they were having; really unique and super flavorful. The prices are great, especially considering the portions. It's a small place inside, but they also have a large patio outside which is great when the weather is nice. The service is still fast and SO friendly; we always feel welcome and appreciated when we're there. Great place all around! read more

I often have breakfast with a work peer early in the morning and Westerville Grill was his choice. I am a huge breakfast fan so I was eager to try this place out. First let me say the place was clean and the servers were friendly. The coffee was average but hit the spot. As for the meal I ordered simple eggs over easy, potatoes, ham with white toast. I know, nothing exciting but I was looking for a standard breakfast. The best way to describe the food is average. The potatoes were slightly over cooked which made them dry and tasteless. Everything else was fine. Hate to say it but I don't think I would go back. I wasn't expecting anything more than a hardy meal to start my day. I would say the meal was uninspired. Many breakfast places don't offer this meal so as soon as I saw it on the menu I had to order it. Service was extremely lackluster. Ordered chocolate chip pancakes and received pancakes with no chocolate chips and then requested the correct chocolate chip pancakes. We received back the same stack of pancakes but with chocolate chips spread on the top of them. So much for remaking the pancakes with the chocolate chips inside the actual pancake like normally made. The omelet we ordered was actually very good. Early morning breakfast at Westerville Grill was delicious. A pal and I were first in the door on a Sunday at opening (8 a.m.) and it was a first for both of us. The WG has about 10 seats at the counter and perhaps seating for 30 - 35 more (smallish). At the hour we were there.... PERFECT and somewhat quiet. I ordered corned beef hash which came with three over-easy eggs (have them anyway you like); the potato & beef were scattered together - a very healthy portion with eggs atop the stack. Friend got a nice thick stuffed omelet and we were happy. We did business and hung around a bit too long as the place was full at 9:45 a.m. when we left (NOTE: Always leave a much better tip when you keep the service staff from turning a table over for a new group; we left 35%). Diners and grills of the style Westerville Grill, for me, should be open for breakfast on weekends no later than 7 a.m. (so my fifth star isn't showing up). That's it. Otherwise....
