Thw Westfield Cafe is a quaint spot across from the train station that is run by the chef and his wife. I love these kind of places because of the heart and sole put into their work. Food was great, fresh and authentic. Service, as you can imagine, was spot on and very attentive. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. It looks like a basic diner/ deli with the booths and open seating, but I will tell you, you will enjoy this meal along with how real the people are. Nice job and see you soon read more

We went here based on the 5-star reviews--must be plants. The food was awful--poorly cooked (omelette), tasteless turkey sausage and turkey bacon since apparently no pork products, and margarine that wouldn't melt (who doesn't use butter?) on the toast. Diner decor was fine but water was dripping into a bucket from a hole in the ceiling. To top it off, wasn't cheap--the omelette was $15.50. So many cute places in Westfield! Best Egg's Benedict around. The Falafel sandwich and wrap are both very good. They don't have regular bacon just Turkey bacon, which I prefer and theirs is really good. I only had a few other sandwiches on the menu and they were really good also. I happen to be a creature of habit and go to certain places for certain items. It's hard for me not order my favorites when I come to WSC but it's nice to know the remainder of the menu is good as well. The service is friendly and the food comes out relatively quick, similar to NYC based Lunch establishments which is a bonus. My daughter is a vegetarian and this is one of the few places where she likes more than 2 things on the menu. Normally, she orders a Caesar Salad or French fries at most other restaurant's. Not sure about the 2 negative reviews. You typically seat yourself and they do want to make sure there was nothing wrong with your meal. I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant and was blown away by the food and service. The falafel sandwich was amazing with supersoft pita bread and fresh falafel. Warning!! If you don't eat everything on your plate you will be interrogated!! My daughter and I went for lunch, I had a cheeseburger with fries. This was a treat for me and it was very good. The waitress wanted to know if everything was ok since I didn't eat much. I told her it was fine but that I had weight loss surgery and don't eat much. Thought that would be the end of that. That answer usually makes people uncomfortable and shuts down any more questions. I am quite slim now and work to stay healthy. I don't go around announcing that I've had this surgery as it really is no one business. But it's what I have to occasionally do at restaurants. My daughter went to pay at the register and I walked to the back to use the restroom. A man stopped me wanting to know if my food was alright. Guessing he was the owner or manager. I reassured him that it was good but that I had had weight loss surgery. He motioned to the waitress and said " well, so has she!" I don't know what that has to do with me. Maybe she still eats a lot, don't know. He was unwilling/unable to accept my answer. I told him that I shouldn't have to explain myself to him. I gladly paid and didn't give him a hard time for serving such large portions! He said that's what they do and I said they can do what they want, just as I can do what I want. Felt like I was a kid again being scolded by my parents! I told him that eating large portions is what made me overweight. My daughter intervened and told him to stop harassing me. If the food had been bad, I would have said something. What if he had done this to someone with an eating disorder? He took my inability to finish my food personally!! Once I reassured him that the food was good, that should have been the end of it. When I was fat I was shamed for eating too much. Now that I am thin I'm shamed for not eating!! Enough is enough. Do not comment on how a person eats. Will never go back. read more

Cute spot in Westfield with parking nearby. The shakshuka was good - different than what I've had in Israel, but every shakshouka is different and that's what makes it great. We normally go to Cranford Station House, but we found it unexpectedly closed one day and looked around for the closest brunch spot. I think we're officially leaving Cranford for the Westfield Station Cafe because the food here is so much better!! Every. Single. Bite. Was "mmmmm." I had the Egyptian lentil soup that was part of the gyro sandwich combo. I don't normally order soup but since it came with it, I thought I'd go out on a limb and try something I didn't expect it to be great since I heard the word "lentils" but I was taken by surprise. It was so flavorful and comforting. It took me back to my mother's homemade soups :) I usually like both lamb and chicken gyros (although the later can be a hit-and-miss) so I asked to do half-and-half. Again, surprised! The gyro along with the fries were perfect! The gyro was juicy (but not wet or soggy, perfectly in tact actually) and mouthful of seasonings (in a good way). The food here literally tastes homemade--so good! The fries--hot and crispy! Every bite was very satisfying. I was further pleased with the service including a visit from the chef who checked-in with me. Good breakfast in Westfield! The menu has a lot of nice options for breakfast, brunch and lunch. There's a good mix of the standard favorite diner breakfast and some more unique items as well. I had french toast which was very delicious. The inside was not the nicest, didn't have much of a Jersey diner but also didn't feel like a cute cafe either. Came here after cryotherapy at Chill and wow was I just pleasantly surprised! What a nice, clean open space! The food was truly, impeccable. Egyptian Lentil Soup as an opener to the Lamb Shwarma and I knew we were in for a treat! The Westfield Salad with Buffalo Chicken added was super fresh, loaded with kale and quinoa. Seriously, even my 4 year old daughter had to keep my hands off her chicken fingers (cornmeal coated and shockingly delicious) and fries! Oh, and we also had the best Babaganoush I've ever had. Egyptian Style! Get this at all cost! Delicious! Our server/hostess was absolutely charming as well as the gentleman working in the kitchen. We ordered the Mazza sampler (falafel, baba ganoush, hummus with grilled pita) and the chicken schwarma, which came with a side of the best lentil soup we've ever had! Smooth and just perfectly seasoned with a hint of spice and filling lentils. The baba and hummus were smooth and hit just the right notes of acidicity and creaminess. The falafel were green on the inside, which is my litmus test. I love seeing the fresh herbs and brightness come through in the green color. :) Everything we tasted was fresh, flavorful, and clearly home made with love.
