However, recently I decided to venture back because it is so close to where I live, which makes it a lot more convenient than the other local dog parks. I've been here three times since, all on a weekday evening. The good: huge area for the large dogs to run around, with plenty of grass. Dogs have plenty of space to play with each other, or wander away if needed. The main sitting area is also away from the entrance, so I don't feel like my dog gets mobbed when we first get in. All the dogs so far have been really friendly and well socialized. It definitely seems like there is a regular good sized group of people who go at the time I have been going, which is nice. People are friendly and seem to care about how their dogs are acting/reacting. Poop bag canisters are always well stocked. The ok: along with the grass there is also a lot of dirt and some muddy areas, which is a bummer when my dumb dog decides he wants a mud bath... The bad: out of all the parks I've been to, this place seems the worst with owners cleaning up after their pets. I understand its a grassy area and sometimes hard to find, but I keep an eagle eye on my dog at all times and usually after doing a few minutes of searching, am able to find where he pooped. Along the way I usually find 3-4 older poop piles. I pick up what I can, but it would be nice if people were more considerate about that. No one wants to step in poop, or have it get on their dog to bring back into their car. There also tend to be some homeless always walking around the park as other reviews have mentioned. However, I haven't been bothered by them. I feel like there are less around right now too because its summer and there appears to be a lot of sporting/family activities going on in the evening. Might be different when the weather and sunlight hours change. Overall, the park has been really good. My dog seems to like it too, which is the most important!

Watch out! Our dog only has an allergic reaction when going to the small dog park at Carmichael…read morepark! She literally will choke and cough for 12 hours after going to this place. We have had her checked by our vet and she has no condition to cause this sort of reaction, so the park is suspect all day long. I don't know if they are putting chemicals on the grass, or what, but this is bs and we will never take my dog there again. Two weekends in a row now she has had an allergic reaction from going there. I hear other dogs coughing and gagging while there as well. Take your fur baby someplace safe, because this park is not at all.

This was the first stop on our dog park tour! The park is tucked behind a residential neighborhood, so it feels a little hidden, but there was plenty of parking available, which was a nice surprise. One thing to know before visiting is that there are no separate small and large dog areas--everyone shares the same space. Fortunately, during our visit, both the dogs and owners were friendly and respectful, and all of the dogs seemed to get along well. My puppy was still very young at the time, so I had him wearing a muzzle. It wasn't because of aggression--he was simply in the phase where he would pick up anything he found and immediately swallow it instead of just carrying it around. Even with the muzzle on, the other owners were understanding, and everyone was very friendly. The park is primarily made up of pea gravel, with very little grass. When you first walk in, there's a small shaded area with a built-in bench, and someone had also left a lawn chair. On the opposite side of the park, there's another tree that provides shade with additional chairs nearby. Most of the park is a large open area covered in pea gravel, which gives dogs plenty of room to run around. All the way at the far end of the park, there are several agility features. I liked that they were designed to blend into the environment with faux stone finishes and landscaping that included river rocks. The park also had a watering station and even a dog wash station, which was a great amenity. One feature I especially appreciated was the opening in the fence near the entrance that allows you to easily drop filled poop bags directly into the trash can outside the fenced area. It's such a simple idea, but very convenient. The park appeared to be well maintained overall. I didn't notice any unpicked-up dog waste during our visit, which was nice to see. My only real complaint is the lack of grass. There was one particular tree that seemed to be every dog's favorite spot to stop and pee--I jokingly started calling it the "pee tree." The pea gravel around that area looked noticeably dirtier and murkier, and unfortunately my dog kept lying down there, which was a little frustrating. Overall, this was a nice dog park with friendly dogs, friendly owners, and some thoughtful amenities. If you don't mind a park that's mostly pea gravel and don't need separate small and large dog areas, it's definitely worth checking out.

It is made up of almost all hard surfaces like cements, sand, dirt. There were a few patchy spots but no real grass anywhere. It was sprinkling on and off during our visit and there is one bench that has a small cover over it so I was able to stay protected, however, the water and the sand kind of filled my shoes up with dirt and especially my dog's paws. Luckily they have a working dog wash here which is a huge bonus at a dog park. I also like how they cut a whole in the fence and have the garbage outside with a spot to reach through so you don't have to worry about the overwhelming stench of dog poo. There are a few benches, but it could use a few more and maybe some shade as well but they do have water available for both people and dogs. Someone left their car key and whoever found it was nice enough to tie it up to the gate, so if you left the key to your Honda here you might want to come and get it. I will definitely be stopping by this park again when we're in the area.

Small dog side also had burs and some other weeds. Unappealing. Large dog side maybe had 2 dog turds but was bare/clean, much better. It also had heavily used scoop pans. I'll stick to my quality poop bags and having her do her business on cue, in peace, elsewhere, thanks. Decomposed granite only, no grass either side. Both sides small to medium in size. Larger joint transition area compared to other parks. Right outside the dog park are several metal tables with 4 charcoal grills. Dog birthday party setting? Haha. Plenty of street parking including spaces under the overpass for warmer days. Loved that there's a large grassy park across the street with benches. We ate there and it was peaceful enough but the road noise from Howe Avenue is a bit much. The overhead power lines at the two parks are a bit much, too, particularly at the dog park. One great feature is the easy access to the American River Trail and the levee trail. Go for a road run, trail run, or walk towards Watt Ave or Cal Expo. Overall, my dog and I don't need to come back because it grossed me out, but it was a great outlet for my dog to get her sniff on.

There's street parking only, but usually plenty of spots available. It's right next to a running trail, so if you can't dog park for whatever reason you could walk as an alternative. Pros: tall fences. Separate big and small dog sides. Working water with new water stations. Trash cans and scoopers provided (unless they get stolen). Plenty of bench space. Shade some hours from the big tree. Cons: small side has A LOT of dead grass with stickers. The big side has flooded near the gate the last few winters. It's a dirt floor, so it gets super dusty. The benches usually have pee on them (but it's a dog park). The small dog side is really big and could've been made a little smaller to adjust for the big dog side to be bigger.

We didn't go in -- this was purely a socialization mission. Lobo stayed just outside the fence, observing the chaos like a wise old man watching neighborhood kids from the porch. And you know what? He crushed it. Calm, cool, and collected. Gold star. We don't plan on doing dog parks for play since he goes to daycare and thrives in a more structured setting, but if dog parks are your thing -- this one could be a winner. Clean, not overwhelming, and right next to the R Street Corridor, which means you can treat your pup to a full Midtown adventure after. Grab a walk, some sniffs, and maybe hit a patio if your dog's in a chill mood. Or do what Lobo did and just stand outside the fence like a refined gentleman, silently judging everyone inside. 10/10 outing. No paws were stepped on. No chaos ensued. We love to see it.

My chocolate Labrador loved this park. What was strange is that we went to the park at 5:30pm and it was EMPTY. I brought my dog at this time thinking that he'd have some new friends to play with. Dog owners with smaller dogs should be aware that there isn't a little/big area. It's all one park. So if your little dog isn't social or gets nervous around larger dogs, you might want to look elsewhere.

It was great with no dogs the 1st time because we all got to see and get a feel for the place without dogs being dogs trying to make friends and not listen. Well mine is only a little over 4 months now so we are still training with him. Ok back to the barking.. i mean park. They have 2 dog poop bag areas, and trash for doggie waste and a water fountain for them to get there drank on! i would still bring your own bags cause they were both empty so far for the bags, and water fountain was kinda clean even for a dog, but still keep water on yourself just incase, could be really dirty or even shutoff next time like having kids and dogs always have to be prepared for them. The best part of walking the dog park was that i didn't even step in 1 pile or even find a pile being left behind from anyone. That was amazing and very refreshing to see people cleaning up!! High 5 to all who come here and to the ones everyday around this world that pick up after there pets! You are awesome and i thankyou bunches. I have stepped in a few at apartment complex were they have 5 stations fully stocked with bags and people still don't. :O/ They also have a big plastic container with some toys people either leave behind or donate im guessing and theres a lot of tennis balls in here. It's open from sunrise to sunset, it is located in the back of bannon creek park fenced behind the school. But if you come down bannon creek st. You will see a black n white sign with a dog and a arrow, so you can follow the sign and the dog will use his sense of smell maybe, and you should find your way. This was the second dog park on our dog park tour! We arrived around 10:00 AM with our puppies. I brought my 7-month-old pup, and my friend brought her 5-month-old boy, who was even smaller than my dog but much more outgoing and social. Overall, I'd give the park 3 stars. The park has separate areas for small and large dogs, which I really appreciated since both dogs are young and small. The small dog section was surprisingly spacious, with a mix of grass and pea gravel, plenty of shade from mature trees, poop bags available, and even a shaded kiddie pool area set up by some of the regulars. There were also lots of lawn and patio chairs, which made it comfortable for owners to sit and socialize. There seemed to be a group of regulars there, mostly in their late 50s to 70s, and everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. All of the dogs we encountered were well-behaved and friendly too, which made for a great experience. It was fun seeing the difference in our puppies' personalities. My friend's pup was eager to meet everyone, while mine was a bit more reserved and preferred to explore. My biggest complaint is actually that the small dog area was almost too large. With a fast, energetic 7-month-old puppy, it was difficult to keep track of him at times. There are several heavily treed areas where dogs can disappear from view, and some spots were hard to access. While I appreciated all the shade, some of these areas felt a little overgrown and poorly maintained. The park also could use some additional upkeep. There were an agility obstacle, but it had standing water on it, and I noticed some dog poop that hadn't been picked up. Later, after the regulars left and we had the park to ourselves, we explored a picnic table near the back fence that sits behind a line of bushes. Unfortunately, we found several cigarette butts on the ground in that area. Overall, C-Bar-C Dog Park is a good neighborhood dog park, especially if you're looking for something convenient and close by. Since it's only a few minutes from my parents' house, I would definitely return, but I do wish the park was maintained a little better.

We came on a Sunday and there were quite a few people, many relaxing in their own chairs while their small dogs played. All the pups were friendly, and there was plenty of grassy space for them to run around. The large dog area also looked very nice--clean, spacious, and completely empty by the time we left. Overall, a great spot for both small and large dogs.

It is still watering as much as in the high temp months. Not only is this a huge waste of water but it turns the park into a mud hole that is really troublesome and unnecessary Otherwise it's a great place to take the fur babies.
