Out of spinach. Couldn't serve artichoke dip. Out of french fries. Dirty, sticky table. Greasy floor. Shrimp bisque tasted a way too much like sour cream or some really strong cheese and a little too out-of-the-can-ish, but may very well have been homemade. I had the wild rice with shrimp, onions, and mushrooms (VERY small portion for $12). It tasted like wild rice with shrimp, onions, and mushrooms - nothing more - not special. Charged me $1.50 to add four small strips of bell pepper to the #8. Grrrr. Wife ordered catfish sandwich. Order was messed up and the waitress, who apparently wanted to impress us with her memory and not write down the order, blamed the mixup on the cook. She did, however, comp the sandwich. Wife said sandwich was "ok". Son had bacon cheeseburger. Had diarrhea before we left the place. Bathroom full of mosquitos and door wouldn't lock. Daughter had French Dip. The only thing worse than the service is the food. Cold, watery, bland, terrible. Sad! I would rather eat glue than eat whatever this sad excuse for food is. I wouldn't even reccomend this to my worst enemy. No one deserves to suffer at this restaurant. Having all of my fingers removed and then getting set on fire would be more pleasant than the experience I had here. A back alley Burger King probably has better food than this. I will update you if I get food poisoning from this filth. It took us about 20 minutes for the waitress to order our drinks, 40 more to get our drinks and order our food, and about another hour to get our (disgusting) food. When the food came out it was cold, it had no flavor, and you could tell it had been frozen or something. When we sent our complaints to the waitress she said, "Since you ate out of it we can't refund you." What? The waitress was also very rude and would get very angry at us and had a very bad attitude when we would ask for refills, etc. We gave her the benefit of the doubt because she didn't cook the food, but after she started getting very rude with us it was too much. Westy's is a horrible excuse of a restaurant and I don't know how anyone has had a good experience here. Maybe it was just a bad day, because if this is how Westy's is on a normal day, they're in serious trouble. We got into town late last night & headed to Westy's about 1am since they're open til 3am & it's close to our hotel. The place wasn't packed but it held a steady crowd. We wanted to chill in a low key environment and Westy's was a perfect setting at the time. Our server Jamie was fun & friendly. Two of us ordered the catfish basket, mine with tots & his with fries. They came out nice and hot (temperature hot). The catfish pieces had a nice crunch, good flavor although a bit on the salty side for me and the fish was moist & not over cooked. He & I both agreed that we'd had better but these were not bad. Our picky-eater friend ended up ordering the lemon pepper chicken wings with fries. I don't think she was a huge fan by the way she stared at the wings. I believe looking at the whole wings including the wing tips threw her off. I tried one (the wing not the tip). It tasted like dry-rub salted wings. I thought it was decent but then again, I like my wings & ribs dry-rubbed, not wet or slathered in sauces. She wanted a sangria in which I questioned the thought at a joint like this. Our server said that they can make it... it did sounded refreshing so I went along. It did the job of quenching my thirst. I'd come and hang out at Westy's again. And I wouldn't hesitate ordering the catfish again... And perhaps trying other items on the menu... I recently stopped in for lunch since it was just up the street and I was short on time. Service was very prompt and attentive, my server was very on top of things considering the lunch rush. Each table had a Downtowner, Memphis Flyer, and some other Memphis paper on it, which I greatly appreciated. The restaurant is cozy and not at all like a few tourist traps in the area. I ordered the Strawberry Melt (buttered bread, cream cheese and strawberries, grilled) with a side of tots. Now don't dismiss this sandwich! It was perfect since I had missed breakfast, both a little salty from the butter and sweet. The portions are generous, there was seriously a mound of tater tots. I could barely keep awake at work afterwards, I was in such a food coma. I might have to stop by and try their infamous Hot Fudge Pie. read more

This would be a five star rating if we had some decent service. We stopped in Westys for an early supper before a a concert. It was around 4 pm, and there were several couples eating, but it was strangely quiet. No music. We were greeted promptly, but were not informed of any available cocktails or what was on tap. Since there was no drink menu, we just had sodas, and no one ever refilled our drinks. It took 20 minutes for our bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer to come out. Another 30 for our main dishes. Salads were brought at the same time as our entrees. We wanted to try the famous hot fudge pie, but our ticket was brought to us before we were asked if we wanted dessert. So, no drinks, no refills, nonexistent service in a practically empty restaurant. That being said, the food was delicious. But the service was so bad...I don't think we will be back. We felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. read more

I came here with a couple of other girls who had just flown into Memphis at around midnight and were hungry! We came from California and Georgia... our server/bartender was so friendly because he loves out of towners! I wish I hadn't forgotten his name. We ordered some gumbo, creole, and appetizers... DELICIOUS! Very very impressed. Their sundae dessert was also to die for. This place truly hit the spot for our first few minutes visiting Tennessee. Me and my friends spent $100+ Friday July 17, 2020 for delivery and they were so delicious. We tried to place a delivery order Saturday July 18, 2020. We were rudely told by Leigh (sp.) that multiple orders could not be placed. Therefore, we decided to do a pick up order instead. Once we arrived, Leigh still decided to not serve us by saying they were out of wings. We were then told it's a 2 hour wait. We were ok with that. They then made up another story to not serve us. Leigh called us "A PILE OF SH*T" by the way. LEigh was very rude. Leigh also tried to close the door on my friend. Leigh has really ruined my relationship with this company. read more

4 of us came here for a late lunch after getting rained out at the Memphis Arts Show on South Beale. I haven't been here since... who knows when. I remember some of the menu items when I saw them. Holy cow, what a menu. If you can't find it here, you probably don't need to eat it. The waitress recommended the gumbo amongst other items. The gumbo it is, and, how about some tamales? Alas, after ordering, she returned to inform me they were out of tamales. Let's start again. How about the fried shrimp basket instead. Good choice, it cam out and the shrimp were indeed hand battered, and, were really good! It's been too long since my visits here. I'll make sure when in the area again to stop in. Annoying experience. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe 5 customers and 2 waiters. The service was slow and apathetic. After 20 min of waiting for my drink, I flagged down the server and she said "your food is coming!" I said, no, I was going to ask you about my coffee. "Oh, I forgot!" I ordered a sandwich with a cup of soup for $2.50 extra. She came back a few minutes later and said that because my sandwich came on rye bread that the soup was now $5! Uh....ok. The food was not bad, not great, but about what you would expect for a downtown bar. The next disappointment came when paying. After 10 minutes of trying to flag her for our check, we finally got them. Then she had our cards for what seemed like an eternity. She came back to our table every 5-10 min and said they were having "problems" running our cards. Meanwhile, i observed our server pulling double duty as the sous chef, prepping every plate, even pulling out mixed greens with her bare hands to make side salads! (All clearly viewable from the dining room). 20 minutes later we received our credit card receipts. What should have been a 30 min lunch took over an hour and a half. I came to this place on a short layover. Sat down at the bar at 6:55 and told the bartender that I wasn't going to drink but that I was really hungry. Ordered for a burger, and after 38 minutes, the bartender told the 2 girls next to me that were before me - they're good was gonna be out at any moment. I had to ask, never waited 40 minutes for a burger, even in a vegan spot they will get it quicker from another restaurant, and she said it will take a while. So I cancelled my order. My first thought was, if I told you I was really hungry; why would you not tell me that it was going to take an hour for a medium rare cooked burger? I will never go back, and posted on my company's Facebook page what happened. We all stay at the Sheraton and don't have no time to loose for not getting our food. Shame on this place. Ordered delivery to the Sheraton Downtown Memphis. Arrived in about 55 minutes. We ordered Teriyaki Wings and Ribs. Both came with fries and the ribs came with slaw and bake beans. We stay at hotels all around the U.S.. We eat most of our meals out so we have a lot to compare it to. First they was out of BBQ. ok No big deal that happens. Second they get here and our drink had been spilled in the bag with my food. They did quickly go get more but we was left to clean up a big mess to get our food. Then they didn't bring me the right drink lucky I noticed before they got back. The food if it would have been cheaper would have been ok but for $50 for 2 people I expected more and was hopeful considering we had a long work day and hadn't ate all day. The pork loin was dry but flavor was ok. My husband's burger was cold and the whole point was hot food. We are in a hotel across the street so they didn't have far to go. The Pinch location makes Westy's the eatery closest to the Convention Center, so I accompanied some out-of-towners there for lunch. The place has a lot of character and does a lot to promote Memphis. The lunch menu is pretty comprehensive, and the specials seem to be sandwiches and wild rice dishes. My companions had a wild rice dish, and a chicken sandwich which were good. I had chicken salad sandwich, which I wouldn't recommend, served with tater tots (who could resist tater tots?) The folks around us were raving about the Hot Fudge Pie. I have only been to Westy's for hurry-hurry business lunches. I am going back soon after the rush and get a better feel for the place. In the meantime -it's definitely a recoomendation! read more

Ya'll Im Keeping It Real!!! Maybe about 3 months ago my husband and I visited Westy's restaurant. He likes there lemon pepper wings..so we are sitting waiting to order, and I'm looking at the bar trying to decide if I want a mixed drink. I'm looking and I see a whole Rat coming up from under the bar!! At first I was like wait...am I looking at a rat?? Not a mouse..but a Rat!! I screamed and ran out of the restaurant. My husband follows me to try to calm me down. The owner kept apologizing and trying to show us the health inspection review that the restaurant pass and blah blah blah... I'm like whatever..see ya! However my husband wanted his wings. The owner and a few more workers were trying to catch the rat..and my stomach was just turning..eewww. So finally the ticket came..do you not know, the owner did not try to discount the ticket or anything! I told her..wait a minute we just saw Master Splinter on your bar..making mixed drinks and taking tips.. and you couldn't knock off something on the bill?? Even if you showed a little consideration for what I just witnessed..maybe I would have considered dining at Westy's again. So never again Westy's. It wasnt the service, food, or even Master Splinter that is causing me not to return, its the way you treat your customers. No one wants to dine with Rats. read more

We found Westy's in the best possible way: We got a recommendation from a local. Standing on the outside looking in, it's not necessarily a place you would think you would want to try. But just like the old adage, "don't judge a book by its cover," Westy's was a lot more than what it appears from the outside. We went for lunch and my wife and I shared a soup and sandwich. The chicken and wild rice soup(home made) had huge chunks of white meat chicken. The flavor was tremendous. The sandwich was served hot and had melted cheese on the turkey. Even though the place was very busy, our server got to us quickly and had our drinks to us in no time. While we did not try the famous hot fudge pie dessert, though some lucky person at the table next to us did. All I can say is that it was AWESOME looking, and next time for sure. read more

Food is just so-so. Everything tastes bland. I'm from south Mississippi. Their creole/Cajun food is not creole/Cajun flavored; it's a tasteless yankee version. Tamales and chicken and dumplings taste just like the canned version. I think my crackers had more flavor than the dumplings did. It's just food; nothing to rave about here. read more

I appreciated their uniqueness and that I could tell that the corn had been cut off a cob and just poured from a can. The place is down to earth and friendly. This restaurant is nasty. The service is slow and the food is cold & horrible. My Hamburger meat was not cooked and the fettuccine was cold & bland. Would not recommend this dump. The bathrooms have absolutely no dividers so when your using the restroom others can see you. It took us an hour to get water & another hour so a sandwich. Completely Pathetic. I'm so disappointed & disgusted with this place. If you want even kinda ok food don't go here. I personally wouldn't feed this food to my dogs. Also this place STINKS! Smells like old urine. Stayed at downtown hotel in Memphis after a long drive. The concierge recommended ordering from Westy's since I was too tired to eat out, esp the the Covid19 situation. I ordered Seafood Gumbo and Wild Rice w/Mushrooms & Green Peppers. I hate giving bad review, but felt obligated to do so for my fellow Yelpers, since I used Yelps often. The Gumbo was a tasteless and pale yellow mess, with some shrimps and white rice in it. No okra/onions or dark spices you come to expect in a typical Gumbo. I had many in the past around the country. I was so so disappointed, being from the north, I thought you will find the best Gumbo in the south. It tasted and looks like they ran out of it, the Chef add some starchy water, threw some shrimps & rice and sold it as Gumbo . Such unscrupulous restaurants! I felt totally ripped off. The only consolation is the Wild Rice dish tasted somewhat decent, albeit a small portion. Diners beware! Doubtful they can survive if they continue serving bad food like the Seafood Gumbo. It's a joke! Regret giving them a good delivery tip. read more

THEY HAVE RATS!! I had already ordered my food to go and paid but hadn't left yet when a huge rat ran all the way from the back to the front of the restaurant! It went under the seat of a booth and someone was sitting on the other side of the seating. We yelled for them to come over and they didn't seem surprised at all. The lady explained they're by the waterfront and the building is old so they get them all the time. -- Like it was no big deal to have a huge a$$ rat in a restaurant! I've been here a number of times.First time was amazing. Each visit keeps getting more and more inconsistent. Although if your bad enough times that can be considered consisitent. Smoked sausage Reuben is good.... sometimes. The chili Cheddar and onions smoked sausage was barely edible the one time I have had it (I could ignore cold chilli if it had flavor). People I have eaten with love the cheese dip. The gumbo wasn't to their liking albeit they are gumbo/Jambalaya/etoufe from louisiana experts. The roach crawling up the wall did not help the review but could of helped the chilli. Fried biscuits and rasberry sauce is the best thing there. Three stars for the multiple visit fails and that's one more than I should give, dang biscuits. read more

Our concierge said the food was good but adviced not to take the shrimp dishes because he got sick both times he ordered them We were hungry anyway and ordered online to be delivered at the hotel. Due to the bad weather conditions the waiting for the delivery of the order was 3 hours. We ordered at 6:30 pm at 8:30 pm my daughter 17 yo called to make sure they had the right phone and to our surprise in extremely poor manners the lady on the phone said that she needed to place the order again and wait another three hours to be delivered because she had not received the order even though we had the order confirmation and the charge in our cc. It was an order of 84 dollars. After a discussion over the phone, and my daughter on tears she proposed a refund to our surprise, bcs that means there was actually an order on her counter that probably she forgot. We had a refund but not dinner and terrible customer service read more

Service was so slow that I left before my entree. Westy's was not busy at all with maybe 1/3 full. After placing my order for the bacon wrapped pork loin I sat for at least 35 mins without any food or explanation until I asked to check on my order. Waitress made an excuse that the night shift just came on. Paid for my salad and glass of wine and left. May give it another chance again when I travel here for business. read more
