I was sooooo excited to try WHATABURGER for the first time! So much hype! Better than Shake Shack, they said... better than In N Out, they said... NOPE! I will give credit where credit is due... the restaurant, and bathroom were very clean and the service was good. But the food? Seriously tasted like Wendy's with circular patties instead of square. It definitely didn't suck... but it was not memorable at all. There is no character to their food. Very standard burger, that will do in a pinch - but GTFOH with the "best burger in fast food" nonsense. Was in town for a conference at the Menger. One of my colleagues wanted to eat here so I rolled with them. I wasn't expecting this to be the cleanest of places in town, being smack dab in the middle of downtown San Antonio, but it wasn't bad. Burger was ok. Was what I was expecting it to be. Nothing fancy. Fries were good with the spicy ketchup. I think I prefer In N Out. More memorable than the food was the fight that broke out while we were eating. An employee got involved and got the two idiots to take their differences outside before the cops showed up, which they did a few minutes later. I'd probably come back here to eat if I got a show like that again. But then again, there are much better dining options close by. read more

We where here from out of town so we just was ordering all kinds of food from off the menu. So sorry no pictures. We was so hungry But most of all the food was really good and fresh. I came here twice on my trip to SA. The food was ok but I have to say there is a huge range of people who come here. Tourists, locals, vagrants, young kids just hanging around. I did see a homeless person asleep at one of the tables. Not sure its my kinda place. read more

First of all the service, ssslllooowww! My friend ordered before me and I got my food first. Waited another 5 minutes and she finally had to go ask for hers. Both burgers were cold. We went around 10:30 pm on a Saturday night and the place was jamming! We (three of us) ordered a variety of different size burgers and fries, as well as onion rings and fountain soda. We waited about 15 minutes for our food, not sure what the normal waiting time is to be expected, but we were patiently waiting to experience a tasty burger! Since Whataburger relocated its HQ from Corpus to San Antonio a few years ago, it's a long overdue presence a couple of blocks from the River Walk in the center of downtown. I've been wanting to take a walk down to Whataburger since they opened a few months back but I didn't think I would make it there and back in an hour without rushing. However, while serving a few hours of hard jury duty time, I was given two-hours for lunch and decided it had to be Whataburger. The inside of this location is nicer than your every day Whataburger but it could stand to be a lot bigger. I got there at noon and there was a long line ahead of me and full house already eating. Looking around and doing some math, I realized that there were nowhere near enough seats for all the people in front of me. I got extremely lucky though when a gentleman offered me his table. I'm not sure what I would have done if I couldn't find a seat as there was no outdoor seating or anywhere around the area to sit and have lunch. Just a caution to y'all! If you're a Texan, you love your Whataburger and this location's grub lived up to the Whataburger name. Hot, fresh burgers (with toasted buns of course) and delicious fries (with no spicy ketchup..) Just like the McD's further down on Commerce, this fast food stop is a little pricier than it's surburban counterparts, my number one was about 50 cents more than usual. read more

They do not have any Whataburgers in VA Beach so we had to try it our first time in San Antonio. We split a Whataburger combo since we had just eaten about an hour before. The burger was good, fresh diced onions, and fries were hot and crispy. What really made the experience was the staff. The cashier, Talisha, figured out we were splitting a combo, so she had the burger cut in half and offered us 2 small drinks instead of 1 medium. Came to visit San Antonio for the weekend and we figured this is like an In and Out type burger joint and they would have good food slightly different from McDonalds or Burger King, boy were we wrong. We were recommended one of the "all time favorites" and turned out to be an all time worst. The burger came out so hot that 6min later I still couldn't take a bite out of it.
