After leaving a very long and bad 1-star review, I have decided to remove that one and update to a 5-star review. My family and I started going back to What's Crackin? and we are glad we did. The owner that disappointed us is no longer there and Lucas is a breath of fresh air His service is outstanding, he is attentive and friendly, the menu has been updated and the coffee is so much better! So glad we gave it another chance. The food is great, they have good drinks and are opening nights next week. Give them a try, you'll be glad you did after the great changes they made. read more

Kind of disappointed in this place. In short- coffee that tasted burnt & had a bad aftertaste. A much under-cooked order of French toast (see photo). When my BF tried to tell the wait staff about the French toast, the waiter initially walked away (clearly, his listening skills need some improvement). To his credit however, he did later take it off the bill. A decent breakfast burrito, however- very chintzy on the sauce (forgot to take a photo). On top of that, it was expensive. read more

Pretty terrible service and food. It's one thing if the food is at least good when the service is bad but when both are bad..that's a bummer. Our waitress was basically non existent the entire time we were there. We got our drinks...15 minutes later ordered food...finished our drinks, no update on an eta for food, no option to order another drink. Finally our food came about, no condiments were offered, didn't ask if we needed anything but we were able to finally order another drink. By the time we got our drinks we were well done with our food. Again, our waitress didn't even let us know how long our drinks would be, didn't ask how our food was, nothing. Oh and also what I would assume was the owner and his family were there eating having a grand time, while setting a BABY IN THEIR DIAPER ON THE BAR COUNTER. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

Worst breakfasts ever! Seriously! (Waitress was fine) * Bacon & Cheese Omelette - Cheddar cheese must've been pre-packaged shredded with that powder preservative. Awful taste ruined the omelette. * Hash Browns - Very thin which was OK except only one side was cooked - the potatoes tasted under/uncooked. * Buttermilk Pancake - Seriously the worst pancake I've ever had anywhere. The outside was cooked (like the hash browns) but the inside wasn't cooked nearly enough and there was no flavor. * Sourdough Toast - $2.00 for 1 slice of supposedly toasted sourdough bread that wasn't toasted and wasn't buttered. But she did provide a butter pack that was right out of the fridge so there's that. Oh, and only strawberry jam - no other option. * A Bacon and Scrambled Egg with hash brown breakfast isn't even on the menu so you get to "build your own" with the price that comes with a la carte ordering. $35.51 for the worst breakfast ever (for 2). Could've been a bad morning for them but I'll never pay to find out if they can do better. Never again and it was so bad I had to come here to tell you. I did tell the waitress after I paid and gave her 18% tip that it was the worst breakfast ever and she didn't say a word. Last time I was at Whats Crackin Cafe was before Covid. Stopped by for breakfast this morning... Super cute decor. Sort of small on the inside but seemed to have a good size patio with misters. We were told initially our wait would be 30 minutes, but it was less than 10. While that is good for us, we did almost leave initially because we weren't sure we had time for a 1/2 hour wait. Glad we waited! I had the Monte Cristo which was FABULOUS with the upgraded side of the hash brown casserole. My husband had 2 sliders: fried chicken & the BBQ pork carnitas with Asian slaw. Everything was delicious!!! The only weird thing was the pricing seemed odd. My huge monte cristo that came with a side was $11 and husbands two small sliders that didn't come with a side was $10. Everyone else's food around us looked delicious too... and the lady across from us was excited to get the monte cristo I had on her next visit. We stopped in for lunch during a weekend visit to Mesa to see family. We ended up here based on location and it definitely did not disappoint. I ordered the pasty melt and my son got the club sandwich. Both plates were plentiful and the patty melt was delicious, crispy and cheesy. I had eggs benedict. The sauce didn't have much flavor and not much was put on the eggs. The eggs were slightly over cooked. What I didn't like was the potatoes. They were roasted so dark that they tasted scorched yet they weren't crispy. They were soft. The service was very good and a very nice outdoor patio with umbrellas on the tables. That was nice. Let me start off by saying the food here is great. We had been coming here as repeat customers for quite some time. They have really great pancakes, skillets, and benedicts and a very cute modern diner-like atmosphere. Unfortunately we have quit going to this spot because of the recent price increases and portion-size changes. We get that inflation happens and my boyfriend has worked years in the restaurant industry, never has he seen a restaurant increase their prices by $3+ on everything on the menu. $15-19 for a regular benedict and $19 for a mix-and-match is just ridiculous for this place, especially because the portion sizes aren't that big and have seemingly gotten smaller. I don't even pay those prices for somewhere like Snooze or a more high-end place in Scottsdale where customer service is always on point. My boyfriend had gotten a skillet which he had gotten before, paying $3 more for it and it was literally 4 or 5 bites of food whereas before the skillet was a lot more food. He left hungry. We had also ordered a pancake which was way smaller than what we had repeatedly ordered before. It's unfortunate to feel like this place has gotten greedy and stingy with their prices and portion-sizes and we have not been back since. A business should know that repeat customers are what make the majority of $$$ for a business and I'm sure some of us who have stayed loyal to this place feel a little shot by this business decision. If they happen to be making more money due to the changes, more power to them but we would rather take our money elsewhere and leave satisfied. . Amazing Monte Christo sandwich. The owner is amazing as well. They carry Pepsi products, which are gross, (even though they have Dr. Pepper). I can't eat savory food without a Diet Coke so I was bummed to find out they have pepsi. When I told the owner this, he did not hesitate or blink and eye before saying he would be right back with a Diet Coke for me! He ran next door and brought me a carafe of Diet Coke! That was awesome. Now, had he not had the next door connection, I am not sure how the situation would have or could have been handled, but I am thrilled that the Diet Coke was avail and that he went and got it for me without hesitation. The Monte Cristo is really good and the fries were amazing! My husband ordered a burrito which was very large and filling, my friends ordered buffalo chicken salad and a club, both really large and nice presentation. Everyone else has margaritas which they seemed to enjoy, as they had two each. We will definitely be back, especially when the weather cools off and we can sit on the patio. The food is good and tasty. My BBQ slider is a bit sour, the BBQ sauce isn't that good, but the crab cake slider is excellent. I like the fries. However, it is too pricey here for breakfast or lunch in my opinion. It costs almost $20 per person for a simple breakfast / lunch (small portion) included tips and no drinks. read more
