The Kale one was not bad but prefer the other. Lemon Blueberry Cornbread was delicious with the lemon curd on top as a shareable! I arrived as they opened so there were just a few other patrons present. My first impression was how bright and uncluttered it was. Cleanliness was apparent as I looked around. I was greeted with a smile and a welcome within a minute or so. My waiter was pleasant and attentive without being bothersome. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, bacon, potatoes, toast and coffee. My food didn't take too long to arrive. The coffee is a little weaker then I like but it was okay . The toast was closer to bread then toast, it could have been a little more toasted . The eggs were cooked as requested and the potatoes except for a few were cooked properly. The bacon was cooked to perfection for my taste, crispy without being burned. Without frosting was not bad but man that frosting is lethal.. My steak and egg hash was pure disappointment. The parmesan cream sauce was so blend I didn't even realize it was "parmesan". Over all the dish had no flavor what so ever, I had my egg over medium but it was over cooked. Salmon egg Benedict was not too bad, but the poached egg was cooked perfect. In this day and time of how the economy is going, I don't think it's a good idea to piss off your customers and lose them. It's as if they have gone to a lower quality of bacon, like Farmer John's, in order to cut costs. There also used to be 3 slices of avocado on the top, and this time there was only 1 tiny slice. I also ordered the breakfast potatoes, and while they were brown on the outside, the insides were hard, so they needed to be cooked longer. The biscuit was also lukewarm. We had stopped for coffee and when we asked the gal behind the counter for a breakfast recommendation, she told us First Watch was the place to go. She did not let us down! She was quick to chat with us about our day and had some really great menu recommendations. I saw a Purple Haze (a lemon, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea with a hint of lavender) go by and needed one to go! Casey talked me into a 'Tri-Fecta' breakfast, complete with a light and airy Belgian waffle, chicken-apple sausage patty, and a bowl of fruit. The waffle was amazing! I totally missed the berry compote until I was most of the way done with my waffle but THAT is special. Order that with anything and everything possible. The bowl of fruit was nice because it wasn't your average boring melon/grapes/1 strawberry with a whisper of flavor, bowl of fruit. I was pleasantly surprised with fresh blueberries AND pineapple mixed in. My bf got the Farm Stand Breakfast tacos. He LOVED them. The tacos consisted of, "Three wheat-corn tortillas with cage-free scrambled eggs, Cajun chicken, chorizo, Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Topped with fresh avocado and housemade pico de gallo. Served with seasoned black beans." The beans on the side were okay, but the tacos he really enjoyed! I really enjoyed First Watch in North Mesa. Should I find myself again in the area, I would totally go back! Though it is a chain, so there may be one closer to home.. hmmm. I've been to other First Watch locations around the Valley but it's been years since I've visited. I was happy to see this one pop up right by my home. It's a bright, modern design albeit a little small for the crowds that are converging. We had to wait about 25 minutes, but found out belatedly we could have put our name on the list via the website or app. Will definitely do that next time! My husband had the chickichanga which seemed to please him just fine. I had the Belgian waffle with mixed berry compote. They describe it as "light and airy" and that was no lie! I loved the lightness and crunch of it. Nothing worse than a heavy, dense waffle weighing you down. It was one of the best waffles I've had in quite a while. I go in with high hopes for a specific dish based off a picture or a description, and then the flavor is just ok but not amazing. This last time I tried the seasonal Parmesan prosciutto toast. The roasted garlic aïoli sounded amazing, but I honestly couldn't taste it, leaving the dish rather dry. My daughter had the donut appetizer and those were pretty yummy button. She wanted something with glaze and these are just cinnamon sugar dusted so I ended up eating most of them. I continue to return because the service is good and it's a really beautiful, clean, friendly restaurant. Why this place is so popular is beyond me. We went in on Easter at about 1:00. Our iced tea was cloudy and gross. Please clean your machine. Our server was ok. Not great, not bad. Our granddaughters fork had dried food in the tines and we asked the person that brought the food for another one but he never did. The fruit bowl on our granddaughters plate had black smudges all over the outside. Gross. They were out of regular bacon(!) so I got their million dollar bacon. More like two cent bacon. What a sick sticky mess. Maybe it would have been good had it been warm. Nothing was warm on any of our meals. I've gone to a few first watches and they always deliver great food. This is the newest location in the valley which I'm happy to have in my neighborhood. First watch has great breakfast and brunch menu with high quality ingredients with a great range of choices for anyone. I've tried the breakfast and lunch foods and they never disappoint. I recently had the 1/2 veggie sandwich with the kale salad which was amazing. Nicely toasted sandwich that had a bunch of grilled veggies, cheesy goodness and delicious pesto. Very good sandwich and the kale salad on the side really made the entire meal perfect. My wife got the trifecta with the waffles. I'll tell you what, those waffles really are delicious! They aren't just a standard tasting waffle that really reminded me of rascoes chicken and waffles if your from LA. I'll have those waffles all the time! Delicious!
