We are new to Mesa, so we were scouting out breakfast places while we waited for What's Crackin' to finish up construction and open for business. It was worth the wait. We've been here three times, and NOT disappointed. They have a 'scratch kitchen' so everything takes a bit longer to cook up. Eggs are tasty, I believe they are organic. Bacon is cooked to order, not sitting around absorbing grease. Patty sausage is scratch made, spiced to perfection. $2 Mimosa and an assortment of original breakfast cocktails? Got 'em. French press coffee? Check. Scratch made biscuits with house made jam, just like Mom used to make? Yup. Kristin, our server, was prompt, checked back with us and made sure everything was served properly. For a newly opened restaurant, we can't see what kinks they need to work out. Well the food was really good. Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 children. Starting with drinks, mimosas took quite awhile to get to the table. One ice water was accidentally spilled all on one of the adults. The meal was brought out in shifts - the 3 kids got theirs way before the adults. Once the adult meals were served, toast was missing from one and it too took quite some time to be brought out to the table. I thought the food was good. Finally total confusion with the bill. It was to be broken into two. Server tried twice to get it correct but finally the owner had to come and make it correct. I probably will come back. I wanted to try something new, brunch, breakfast with lunch options. I searched this over Yelp and it has good reviews. Area wasn't too bad though it was hidden and next to Barons Pizza. I was in the mood for some mimosa and fancy bloody marys. The server was nice, give us a little time to look over the menu. It was a quiet, calm place, then again we did show up around 2ish. Kind of missed the breakfast rush? This place is one of those new age hippies spot, nothing to rave about. I mean the food was ok, I always order the Egg Benedict, it's one of my favorite dish and if this dish is good then I feel like everything else should be good right? Well it's was kind of basic. My husband ordered his normal biscuit and gravy, he did ask if there was sausage and the waiter said it was cooked with it or has it in the gravy. We ordered the fried pickle which was pretty good. I had a large mimosa and ah for $6 it wasn't worth it, can't imagine what a small would look like, more OJ than champagne in it. Also I had the bloody marys - cracken, also ok. Another place where you have to just try it for yourself. The menu is quite extensive which is a surprise considering the name. We went for lunch. I had the stacked enchiladas and my wife went for the southwest bowl. Both were very good. The service was very attentive, not one employee walked by without addressing us in some way. They also feature craft beer and a pretty well stocked bar. We will need to try breakfast here soon. I am glad we tried it today and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Me and my friend used to love this restaurant, but recently it seems to have gone down hill. Our experience today was pretty rough. Walked in and got greeted right away, but had to wait for a long time to get menus, which wouldn't have been a big deal if it was busy. There was one other customer in the whole restaurant. Ordered a Michelada and the server didn't even know what it was. Got a regular dos xx delivered to the table instead 20 minutes later and sent it back. Then had to send it back again because it was so spicy it was literally undrinkable. I ended up just getting a regular mimosa instead because clearly no one there knew how to make a drink that I consider to be a very basic. I found hair in my fried pickles which I didn't even bother complaining about because I'd already eaten half of them. Ordered the AM sandwich with bacon. Asked for a side of hollandaise sauce. The server didn't know what hollandaise sauce was. Which is insane to me working at a breakfast restaurant that serves Benedicts? My sandwich had a hair on the bacon which I ended up just breaking off and throwing away because I didn't want to wait a long time for a new one. The bacon on my sandwich was burnt black and clearly had been sitting out for a long time because i could barely chew it. I wish I would have taken a picture. I can get a better breakfast sandwich at McDonald's.We ended up having to go inside after waiting a long time to pay our check to find the server sitting there. After paying jasmine the server asked us to leave a yelp review which I was honestly shocked after the horrible food, horrible drinks and horrible service we received. We are both in the restaurant industry and very understanding that things happen, but the place was completely dead. There was no reason for everything to be as bad as it was. Everytime my husband and I have been here the staff had been friendly and the food has been great! We are always seated quickly and the vibe of the restaurant is exactly what someone would want for a Sunday morning breakfast or brunch. Their outside seating area is large and shaded and beautiful. This was our first time here and sadly will be our last. It was Sunday, the music was so loud that you couldn't even hear each other. The food was so-so. Only 1 out of the 4 of us liked their meal. Although the servers are friendly (most), they seem to be all over the place (as in working in the bar, working on the floor, etc.) - I think 4 different people helped us. In the end we had to go track ours down to pay the bill. There were so many flies around you were constantly swatting them off of your food and drinks. My second visit and I was very happy with my food. I ordered the southwest burger. I couldn't decide between it and the patty melt so I asked my server what she would recommend. I added the side salad which when brought out with my sandwich was a pleasant surprise. I expected iceberg or romaine, but no, this was some nice fresh spring greens. It had diced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and some red onions. The onions were too strong but not their fault. For some reason onions are strong this season. Everyone I've bought has been the same. The burger had a grilled bun. I asked for the patty to be pink and it was. The meat itself had very good flavor and wasn't greasy. The southwest burger has a bit of a kick so by the end my nose was running. I am a wimp though. I also had iced tea which was good, not too strong or weak. It's brewed, not from the fountain. I hate tea that isn't fresh brewed. Next time I'm going to try the patty melt, unless I am in the mood for breakfast! read more

Went to have breakfast with our service dog & experienced complete discrimination! They wouldn't let us sit inside or where we wanted to on the patio because we had a "pet". Even after telling them repeatedly she is service & goes anywhere we go & legally they cannot deny us this. The hostess rolled her eyes at us when we asked for the manager, a waitress came out & was of no help & then finally the manager (supposedly) came out & told us basically the same thing. If I could give a negative rating I would! HORRIBLE experience & we are filing a complaint with the ADA! read more

Love this place! The food is always fresh and well prepared and they have a good rewards program too. Service is dependent upon the server but ranges from young and inexperienced but nice to fantastic. It's a little noisy inside but great outside if the weather is decent. Owner very nice and cares for his business. We're now regulars November 2018 Sadly, in the past month or so this place has gotten to be hard to get into, at least on Sunday for brunch/lunch. While that's understandable with the winter visitors back and summer over, it's a bit frustrating when we see 6-8 empty tables and we still wait 20 minutes. This place is pretty expensive, but I appreciate that they have vegan options (which does not usually exist in the east valley) so I usually give them a pass for that. I was initially excited to find this place because [finally] I had a place nearby I could eat out safely, but with each subsequent visit, the quality of both the service and food has gone down. Today I paid $16 bucks for a vegan burger (just the burger, no side), and the patty and bottom of the bun was so burnt, I could barely chew it. It was also so bland, I couldn't taste anything either. Well except for the burned bits anyway. Our server was nice, but she never did come back for any drink refills, so I had no water to help soften up the vegan brick I was served. Tried the restaurant for the first time today with a friend. The food was outstanding but the portions were very small and the pricing was a tad expensive. I got the breakfast casserole for $10 and I was extremely hungry yet when I got done. It was more of a side portion rather than a main meal type portion. My friend ordered the what's Crackin breakfast and said the same thing... That the portion size was a tad small and the eggs were undercooked. We will try it one more time and see if maybe we just had a bad day or if this is the way the portions are for the prices that they are charging. read more
