We went in with a party of 7 tonight for polish dinner night. We went to go sit down at a table for 6 and asked if we could add a chair on the end. Misty our server said no it's a fire hazard, which was understandable. It took her about 10 minutes to bring us our drinks. Our drinks were all diet cokes when we ordered two regulars and one diet. It took Misty forever to come take our order and when she did she acted like we were an inconvenience to her. Our appetizers took forever to come out. Mind you we only had two cheese curds. Our food came out and was cold. A burger was ordered medium and came out RAW. We asked if the food can be heated up and she replied "let me ask my boss" it then took her forever to bring refills. We had to ask for waters. When it was time for to pay she ignored us when we tried to hand her our bill. Misty was a very very rude server. We will not be coming back!! read more

The place has good bar food. If that's what you're craving, this is it. I had their pretzel burger. The bun was surprisingly softer than any pretzel bun I've had before. I did ask for it to be cooked medium and it was medium well/well. Medium rare is really what I should ask for. My bad. My husband and I shared chilli cheese fries, and I have to say their fries are excellent. He also had their super Philly and said the bun was very soft, as well as the meat. This use to be my go to resturant but tonight will be my last time . I came with 3 friends and told them how good the food was here. I suggested here above everywhere else. Never again. I order a steak and half of the steak was buried under fries when i moved the fries i realized half my steak was all, fat pure fat! None of my friends I showed could believe it. The waitress was very sweet and sincerely apologized. She told the management and they offered no solution to the problem they told her they cut their own steaks and even though it was all fat I was showing them, the management said it was probably a 12 oz instead of a 10.seiousously,wth! So even if you thought that was true I guess 2oz of pure fat is fine to serve a paying customer. It was half my steak though that was fat, not 2 oz. Seriously!and you still demanded full payment. You have lost my business and everyone that i tell to come here. did i mention we had also had ordered 3 other meals and alcohol and drinks and they still refused to right the wrong they did to me the customer. Sorry to say that despite the bargain food, their customer service is horrible. We arrived at 7:45 on a Friday night and were ignored for 10 minutes...no menus, no drink order, not even a wipe of the dirty table. Another couple arrived at the table next to us and immediately had their table wiped, menus provided. Eventually, we were given a menu and ordered a drink, then nothing. After our drink was delivered, this horrible waitress promised to return as soon as she took the food order of the couple who arrived after us. Not so, she proceeded to wait on at least 3 other tables. By then, we were done. When she finally returned we asked for our bill and told her we didn't appreciate her priorities. No apology, just the bill. It seriously seemed like she intentionally refused to wait on us. My husband decided to talk to a manager and they viewed videotape to verify our story. No lies, the manager reimbursed our drinks. Still no apology from the waitress. Kudos to the manager. Shame on the waitress. Sad for her. We are generous spenders and tippers. The food is a good price for what you get, but beware of the grease. I had a burger and fries, and although good, was completely saturated with grease. Talk about tummy ache. I took my family to this establishment for lunch today considering I'm traveling from Chicago to attend my father's funeral. Expected a lovely time and I guess my expectations remain extremely high. Checked this place out early on this saturday evening and at 5pm it was already packed. There was a mix of people with some dressed up, some dressed down and some wearing almost rags. No problems anywhere, great blending. Everyone chilling and enjoying themselves. The reputation of huge sandwiches had my attention from go. Yes indeed they are huge, enough for two if not three meals. The corned beef was good and I would probably order again. They have a good selection of bottle and draft beers. The waitress said they had genisys on draft. I asked again to make certain I heard correctly and asked if it was light, red or dark. She announced dark so I ordered. My drafts were served almost room temperature, which is ok with me, as I like it european style. But, in actuality I was drinking a Guiness. The waistaff was also friendly and attentive. Good for price is the only reason why this place deserves a 2 star. Food is mediocre at best the drinks barely contain any liquor and the service is just plain horrible! The waitress even got the manager to basically intimidate me when I said it would work into her tip. We waited 10 minutes before anyone approached us and the waitress was chewing gum the whole time and gave an attitude. Again the portions were good the price but that's about it. Last night was the second time I'd been to Wheat & Rye. I went last night because I'd heard so much about their Polish dinner. I've had better but what was really disappointing was the service I got last night. The first time I went I had the prime rib and it was good and I had really good service. Last night I got the Polish combo. I had to raise my hand to get someone to notice me and then wait some more before the waitress showed up. Ordered a lemon wedge in my Pepsi. Did I get it? No. No biggie. Then the meal comes and I had to look for her again to get the dinner roll that should have come with the meal. Then the bill. What is it with younger people today who can't make change even with MACHINES that tell them what the change SHOULD be? Then she disappeared again without giving me my bill. I had to use another waitress to check the price of the meal and the change I SHOULD have gotten. Then she went looking for my waitress. When she finally showed up, she gave me too much change back. Oh, well. When you don't give me the right change, I'll let you know. When you give me too much money back, that's on you. This restaurant isn't really close to my home so I don't think I'll be driving back any time soon. read more

Went for lunch today and will not be back... asked for a water. they couldn't serve any as the city was flushing the lines.... Umm ok. Why are you open then if the water isn't servable... Went for lunch with a coworker on a Thursday at 11:40. It was 55 minutes from when we sat down to when we walked out the door. There were approx. 20 people in the restaurant. It took 40 minutes for us to get our food. Our cokes were flat. I had the French Dip Panini with seasoned fries. I was not told that there was a fee to add the seasoning on to the fries, which didn't even stick and was at the bottom of the plate. My sandwich was hot, the fries were old and room temperature. I understand this is a bar and thus I shouldn't expect much but there are a few things that I require when going out for a meal. First and for most I expect the place to be clean. Second I expect good service and Third I expect the place to have the items on their menu. This placed failed all three of my requirements, it was dirty and the service was very slow and lastly they were out of items on their everyday menu. I ordered the steak which was priced very low (12.95). Needless to say you get what you pay for. It was a large piece of beef and fat with very little flavor. I also got a side order of fries which were some of the worst fries I've ever had. I tend to give a lot of bars a chance when it comes to food because like most of you out there I love fried bar food or a good steak at a respectable price but this place gives bar food a bad name. I have heard that they have good corn beef sandwiches which is what I'll try next time if I ever go back. Chances are if I do return it will be out of pure laziness or because I'm meeting someone there. Anyone who gave this place more than 2 stars needs to get their taste buds checked, just because it's cheap and big doesn't mean it's good food. read more

This place just made my '3 strikes and u r out' list and not hardly anywhere I don't think ever made that list!! why? 1st time few years ago, asked for water with meal and was told 'we don't have water'...like what? they said we can sell you bottled water..mind you I am ordering 2 steak dinners. so I got a bottled water which I drank like 1/4 of and paid top dollar but took home. 2nd time was 5/18 mother's day sunday, they have specials but watch, the large prime rib I think it was...everything is separate potatoe, vegs etc and they are $3.40 a piece and then my meal came with the veg cause got smaller steak dinner and they charged me anyways..never said a word, wanted to get out. this time I ordered RARE steak as usual and it literally came over worse than well done..showed waitress and she took back and came out and said 'yes he saw well done for the fries and thought it was the steak...then brought out a RAW steak...literallty and I like mine MOOOOING...I ate it, better than well done but I had to cut it in 1/2 cuz I lie not, it was 1/2 fat the rib eye....and why baked pots after 4pm..doesn't take much to m/v a potato for someone who doesn't eat fries and if I order them well done, I don't want them limp. then they have rice on the menu and she goes 'we don't have rice'...take it off the menu then....so had to get fries...she goes 'well that is what it comes with'..ok....don't see anything about no substitions..I will never go back there for dinner EVER!! sooooo slow in there as well and waitresses are NOT friendly at all!! no hi how are you today.nope...they great you with 'what would you like to drink?'...really? nickle and time you at this place......done, so done with them. read more

Understand being understaffed, but come on. Sat outside and waited 10 minutes while waitresses walked by. No big deal, good company! Asked to sit inside because of a party that had the outside reserved. No sign or hostess to tell us otherwise. No big deal!! Moved inside and waited 15 minutes for a waitress. Not even half the dining area was occupied. No problem!! Prepared for them being unprepared and had our drink and food order ready. Went to order and were informed that they only served bottled water and there was a charge ($1.75). Little bit of a big deal. Waited 25 minutes for our drinks, asked waitress at the 20 minute mark to please bring our drinks, no luck. Problem! Waited a total of 55 minutes with NO FOOD, not even a visit to the table. Huge problem. Paid them for the picture of beer AND WATER, and went to leave. Amazing, waitress arrives and says food is almost ready. No thanks!! Walked! Not great but not bad. I used to visit wheat and rye regularly when I was younger and would always get the superbird. Back then it was good, now....not so much. It seems like this location is very cheap with their food and supplies. Menu says grilled chicken on the superbird...it's processed chicken that probably came out of a bag.
