Sometimes I forget I even have a YELP account, and it takes supremely GREAT (or exceptionally bad) service to prompt me to leave a review anywhere. Both happened today, but I must commend Wheel Works on saving me, and ensuring I got to work at all! Car battery died. Checked it. Corrosion. Jumped it. Died again. Need a new battery, but can't turn the car off. Ran through two other places who didn't have the staff on site to help me, and the second one was so rude and patronizing, it sucked the oxygen out of me. My next stop was Wheel Works, where a technician/mechanic named Marc was swift, polite, sympathetic, and had my car INSIDE their garage within 2 minutes of my walking up to their desk. I set a timer on my phone, and they had a new battery in the car and my keys back in my hand in 22 minutes. A few minutes in, I poured myself a cup of their free coffee that I didn't even get a chance to finish! There were no excuses, no condescending comments, nothing overpriced about the part or labor, and no attempts to sell me anything I didn't need. I am new in this area, awaiting close of house deal right now, and was looking for a new place to go regularly for oil changes, belts, fluid checkups, etc. I found it. Be aware that if you bought new tires from wheel work and came back to fix a flat they will charge $30 whether or not the tire is under warranty. They will also comment that it is your lucky day that you have the chance to pay $30 more for the tires. My experience is that Big O will fix the tire years later with out any additional charges. read more

I took my Lexus (w/ 186,605 mi) to this Wheel Works today. I needed brakes, an alignment, and a tire rotation. I had a few coupons & the tire rotation was free because I bought my tires there : ). I dealt with the store manager, MARK BARILEAU who I cannot say enough about. He offered a coupon for the brakes and for the alignment. He promised to call with the status of both, clearly stating he would not do any work that was not necessary. There is something about him that I felt I could trust him. While I was there he was basically wearing 3 hats; managing the shop floor; answering phones; and providing customers with excellent service. Never once did he appear stressed or unable to meet the needs and questions of each customer. As far as the work done, I have new brakes and rotors and the car drives straight as an arrow and my tires are now properly rotated thereby improving their life. I could not be more pleased with all of it! Including the prices! Mark is an excellent manager. I will spread the word of this positive experience. Thank you Wheel Works !! read more

Brought my car in because one of the brakes were squeaky. I knew it was major because I neglected the car. After checking, they found that I needed all the pads and rotors replaced as well as both front calipers. It was gonna cost me some bucks I didn't have. The lady in the front went over my options and was able to resolve my issue. All my planned visits there are great. This is the only place where I get my brakes and tires done. read more

I took away 1 star because of the wait times. I don't understand why it takes at least an hour and a half to change two tires. I've been going to Wheel Works for tires for the last 4 years. I switched from Big O when they didn't carry the brand that I wanted. (When I did go to Big O, they would keep my car most of the day.) I'm impressed with the service at Wheel Works. Yesterday I called ahead to check ensure that they had my tires in stock. They ordered them from Lodi and had them the next day. I appreciated that they looked at my past transactions and applied the 10% AAA discount without me having to ask for it. I have no desire to put air in my own tires. I have driven by on a few occasions and the technicians have always quickly accomodated me. read more

2-star review just because I'm 90% satisfied with the wheel alignment I received, almost perfect. Still pulls to the right but is within "normal" range. My appointment was at 11:00 a.m. and I left there today at 1:20 p.m. I was informed my car would be done by 1.5 hours. I decided to walk elsewhere and kill time. Came back at 12:30 to find my car still in the lot, untouched. My car was finally brought in due to me asking about its status. Another customer was experiencing the same lag in service when I arrived back at the shop. Took 45 min. as expected for all 4 wheels on my Subaru to be aligned. Guys have fine presentation face-to-face, but could do much better with time management with their actual service. I understand that of course things come up, but communication is key in great service and I felt a huge lack of this. I purchased Wheel Works/Firestone's new Lifetime Limited Alignment Service for $179.99 which is an amazing deal, but I will be visiting other Wheel Works/Firestone locations hoping for better timeliness. read more

I called & got a quote for a rear differential seal replacement for my Jeep. The quote was less than the Jeep dealership, and they could get me in sooner. I always take my Jeep here for tires, but that's usually it (which they are great with). I took the Jeep home, and noticed that there was a leak. I brought it back to them the next day, showed them a picture and they replaced the seal same day. Although it's not ideal to have to go back for a repair, they were very apologetic, professional and helpful with all my services. I love this place, I just wish they could do all of my Jeep service/repairs :) read more

Had an alignment done and new tires installed. When I drove a bit, the car was handling badly. It was very difficult to keep in a straight line. I know this is a sign of over-inflated tires, so I stopped to check. All 4 tires were over-inflated to 40psi. Spec is 34psi (sticker inside driver door). They give you a little report with your receipt, where they wrote 34psi on all tires. They lied. I set them all to 34 and the handling returned to normal. I have multiple gauges. They all measure the same. The reason for this review is that they did exactly the same thing last time I had tires installed on my other car. I told them about it and they apologized and said they would look into it. Then apparently did nothing...like use a proper pressure gauge. They just over-inflate and send you out and put you in danger. How can a tire store send you off with the wrong pressure in the tires? Imagine how many times they do this to customers who don't know better. They are putting people in danger. People may think that this is just the way new tires feel. It is not. Then the 2nd thing...as I was checking the tire pressure, I noticed that the first valve cap was not tightened. Then I carefully checked the 2nd one and it was on, but just barely - a couple turns. Three were not tightened and the fourth one was missing altogether. Did it fall off because it wasn't tightened? Was it never installed? OK, not a big deal. The tire pressure is serious and a safety problem. So these are the easy things that I can check. I don't know if the lug nuts were tightened to spec. I have no way of knowing if the alignment was done correctly. What should I think? read more

If I could give these guys negative stars, that's more like what they deserve. Took the car here for a car inspection needed to drive for Lyft/Uber (literally the only reason ever I'd come here to begin with). This literally is an easy $20 for them in 15 minutes. But nope, these guys decided they wanted to be super shady/fraudulent and greedy and decided my car had a lot of "problems" that needed to be fixed. Problems included the driver side door "latching", or not opening properly. You mean the door I get in and out of every day and have never had a problem with since the day I bought the car? Right. And that my seat belts in the back weren't working? Again, never had a problem with any of these (and you'd think my passengers would tell me about this) and I immediately went out to the car and checked, they clicked in fine for me. And of course the kicker, that both my front and rear brakes were low and needed to be changed (easy money for them). Little did these guys know, I do all my own car maintenance on all my family's cars. I keep the car meticulously maintained and changed the brakes about 30k miles ago. I checked the brakes the next day, SO much pad on all the brakes. Before bringing the car in, I already knew it would pass, all they needed to do is officially sign off. But instead, they try and take advantage of people who aren't knowledgeable with cars and rip them off every chance they get. Nice try guys, your scam and dishonesty failed miserably. On top of that, they recommended a bunch of other things that "needed to be changed" adding up to $1.5k in expenses (of course). I checked all of those things too, yeah, nice try, all of those parts were fine as well. They even tried to recommend an oil change, not knowing I just changed my oil 1k miles ago. These guys are really the ultimate scum to be honest. So Richard, hope karma gets you for being a shady "technician", yeah I'm putting that in quotations because you deserve it. I'm not going to name the "service adviser" because he didn't seem to know anything, but I'm giving him a break because I think he was new. Best part is, they think they are getting a free $20, nope, that's what credit card companies are for. Already got my money back from your scummy business. Have fun with the charge back. And I already filed a complaint with the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair), which is the governing body of auto shops and issues them their license to operate. Been in contact with a rep there, sent him pictures of my brakes and all other paperwork, so hopefully you guys really feel the heat on this one, or better yet, get shut down for your shady business practices. This review is just to warn other people in the community that aren't knowledgeable about cars. Sad thing is, I brought the car here last year for the exact same thing, and had no issues. I got the car inspected at a different business yesterday, and they had no issues passing the car. Hmmm...coincidence? I think not! The BAR also has this paperwork as well, proving Wheel Works is just a shady business. One last important note. I'm lucky enough not to have to rely on Lyft/Uber as a main source of income, as this is just "beer money" for me. My car is not just a form of transportation in this case, but a way for me to make some extra money. By being shady, you guys are literally messing with my livelihood and my side business! Now think of all the desperate people out there that rely on Lyft/Uber as their main/only source of income. You've now not only scammed them, but you are literally putting their family out on the street due to your greed and dishonesty. Think about that... read more

I was fully prepared to replace my flat tire.... Without seeing my tire/vehicle he stated it could be a deteriorated air-valve. I have an 4 wheel RV and a lot of places won't work on this type of vehicle... They verified that their lifts could lift my van RV ....As I said most places would send me away... My van is more trouble than it's worth to most places. They fixed my tflat, balanced my tires, rotated and put my spare in good working order. By the way the spare takes extra effort to reach. Truly the most knowledgeable, honest, professional and friendly staff I've ever met (and I've been a Wheel Works fan for a while and have used other locations.) Rob helped me today with a tire rotation and rebalancing (which is an awesome part of their services when you purchase tires from them), and although there were some scheduling miscues...they squeezed me in at the promised original time and had me out within 30 minutes. I'm a fan and have been coming here for years. As far as tire service goes, these guys are the best and I've tried many over the last 7 years living here in the Tri-Valley. Their employees are friendly, the place is clean, and above all, I've found them to be consistently honest with the work that I needed done. Here is a great example: I previously owned a BMW X5 and had bad luck with a screw that made its way into one of my tires. Long story short, I first took the X5 to another (closer) repair shop who said they couldn't fix the tire because the screw was too close to the shoulder. Also, since the X5 is all wheel drive, they couldn't just replace one tire, they needed to do all 4 at the same time. I called BS on them and took my car to Wheel Works. The pros there were able to plug the tire and it held for another 15K miles before I ended up changing all 4 tires (1.5 years later as they all wore evenly to the wear bars). And they did the repair in 30 minutes while I waited!!! Example 2: Now own a Mercedes E-350. Blow out and, needed an alignment. Took the car to another center in Dublin (again, it was closer). These ambitious techs told me that because my headlines "follow the road", there was an additional charge to have the lenses calibrated. Wow. Not even Mercedes told me about that one. Back to Wheel Works. They did the repair and the alignment, again, while I waited. Bottom line, cheaper than the dealer, and HONEST service. I just wish they were a little closer, but I take all my cars there now when they need some sort of tire/wheel service. Not sure why others had low reviews. This Wheel Works has been consistently good for me over the last 7 years. read more

When it comes to cars, trust your instincts - I should have known my battery was going to give out today when a friend had to give me power last night to fire up my ride and get home. I should have taken the wife's car this morning, but no... this morning my car fired up OK so I ignored my instincts and took it to work. So of course, when I stopped for my daily cup of morning fuel my car wouldn't start anymore. I was stranded in San Ramon, far from home, far from work, and far from my regular go-to guy for all things car related. Long story short, I found this Wheel Works close by. They opened at 7 and these guys took me in immediately without an appointment. Conscious of the fact that I needed to get to work they replaced my battery in about 20 minutes (maybe even less) even though there were two customers ahead of me. The desk attendant was friendly and courteous and the price seemed reasonable. This place gets nothing but high remarks and praises from me. As a much added bonus, there quote was 50% less than Toyota 101. Toyota in Dublin informed me that could not provide a quote unless I could give the the tire size or VIN #, amazing! Stopped by today because I needed a tire valve stem replaced because it was leaking. Literally have never waited so long to get a stem valve replaced which at the most should be 30 minutes. I waited an estimated hour and a half once the employee lifted my vehicle for the job to get done. I have never seen so much man power go to waste as there were about 4 guys walking around doing nothing. First and last time here. Feel like I would have to wait over a day if i decided to do anything else that was simple such as an oil change. read more

I brought my car in for a battery change and ended up with a broken infortainment system when I had my car back. Yep, it has been working fine for years with no signs of age and pretty much got killed right after this visit. My radio, dvd, navigation, backup camera are now all busted. Wheel works and its mother company sent an investigator who obviously made the conclusion that it's not their fault. I'm looking at $2-3k loss and will never return. Also, their CS refused to show me record if the battery/sensor replacement they performed on my car was following the right procedure. Go figure. read more

I called on Monday, Labor Day, excited they were open. I asked if they'd be able to fix my flat, which they responded it wouldn't be a problem just swing by. I asked if it was busy there and he responded no. I got there about 20 minutes later and was told they had a 1 hr wait before they could even look at my car, then claimed they were just slammed with people dropping off cars, showing me the 5 cars ahead of mine. Funny thing was, nobody in the waiting room. I've never seen that many people get in and out of a place with nobody around. I've had horrible service with them before, really bad alignment, but figured I'd try them out again (since how hard is it to fix a flat). Reminded again why not to go there. I came here after being referred to this place from another shop. After dropping my car mid afternoon I was quoted $85 for an alignment. After my initial drop off. I was quoted $120 because my car was to low for the rack lol. So not only am I paying more, they get to scrape the bottom of my car on there rack.. Wait.. Shouldn't they be paying me then? Lol. Before the job started I specifically asked for a custom alignment as the specs I desired were out of stock factory specs. Next morning they finished my car early. I get a call saying they corrected my toe angle. At first I was a little puzzled... I wasn't even looking at my toe angle. They aligned it again once more. It was done wrong. Dishonest people I must say. I'm not a car genius but I have enough knowledge to know exactly what my car and can't do... After asking them about 5 times and hearing them lie to my face. I finally convinced the tech to do it for me. After getting the alignment done for the 3rd time they aligned it with different specs in the left and right wheel... Does that make any sense to do? I thought this place was knowledgeable.... They really don't know what they're doing.... I won't be doing business with this company ever guys again. Don't you know that customer satisfaction and honesty is key to having people come back?... Fools.... EDIT: About 3 months I finally replaced my rear tires and found that they DID NOT fix my rear camber. lol These guys are ridiculous. Learn how to run a business... I came here at about five minutes to five (closing time) on a Sunday with a nail stuck in my rear left Mini Cooper tire. The man at the counter did not have a pleasant attitute, said I would have to come back tomorrow because he would need to take my entire tire off and sand a part down, WTF! it is a nail that needed to be pulled out and plugged up... when I asked how much and how long he said perhaps up to $50 depending on where the nail is... ummmm how about you come out and look at it... came out and said oh about 25 or 30, and will take up to 45minutes.... Got 4 tires and 4 wheel alignment on Feb 24 2012, took 3 hours 47 minutes with an appointment and a call ahead to make sure tires were in stock. Bring car in, staff knew I would be waiting at shop for car, one hour goes by, car still in parking lot, ask what is up, they say tires are at warehouse, and are en route, would I prefer another tire, I declined and said I would wait. I figured that maybe they were having a bad day, work finally completed at closing time. Tires were good, alignment and balance seemed ok, so I figured it was bad day for the shop. Called this morning 7-31-12, asked if I could bring car in for wheel rebalancing and to check alignment, over 12000 miles since tires installed (I drive a lot), said it would be fine, one hour to one and a half hour wait, which was fine to me. I brought car in, told staff I would take a walk and be back in an hour or so. Came back in an hour and 15 minutes, car still sitting in parking lot untouched, asked what was up, they said they were waiting for alignment rack to clear and my car would be next. Anyway 2 hours and 15 minutes later car done. Work seems Ok, but my time is too valuable. I wish they would be more upfront with time estimates. No sympathetic attitude about long waits. I think my car was skipped many times for higher revenue customers. America's tire up the street was dead on with job completion estimate for my other car last week, will take my business there, fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. read more

This place is very unprofessional, I went in on Sunday morning at 9am I told the manager that I have got a rims and tire online and the guy is meeting me here can you put them on. He said ok and he saw the rims checked them in I went to waiting room waited till 1045 and asked one of the Michanic when is my car going in to get the new rims puts on he said you are next so I went inside and the manager said oh your car is not going to be next it's gone be all day since I did not have appointment. I was never told that till hour and fourth five minutes into waiting so I said can I do it on Monday at 7 he said no, I asked what about Tuesday he said no so I asked when is the next day I can come in at 7am. He said Thursday but I am not in so you might not get a good service and you have to leave it all day which it did not make since. So finally I said lets do it today and I will pick it up later. When I picked up the car the seats were dirty and my old rims and tires were not in the trunk which I had to come back for it. I drove it off and this morning I noticed they balanced the rims but they put the Weight on the sticker of the rims which it was loose, so I took the car to American tire which they balanced it and discovered that they put different air pressure in all tired front one was at 41, one was at 45 and rear one was at 44 and the other at 49 recommended for Mercedes is 35 which it said on the car. Worse service, worse work, not knowledgable about the tires, and very unsafe. If you like your car and who ever drive it please don't take your car there. Also if you are looking for great experience don't go there. I leave walking distance to this place but will never go there again. I took a 2016 Mercedes with 500 miles when I picked it up I had to take it to detail shop to clean the seats. read more

They said my truck "required" tire pressure sensors and charged me quite a bit for each one when I got a set of 4 new tires here. I went back a while later and said they were not working. They said it takes some time for it to sync. Bull sh*t. I went to another tire shop and they showed me the sensors on another truck and then showed me how mine didn't have them. They ripped me off. I needed new tires ASAP because I was driving back to the OC. I called and spoke with an employee who told me that they didn't have the size tires I needed in stock. Since it was a Saturday and I was driving south on the following Monday, I thought I wasn't going to be able to stick to my plans. I explained to this dude that I needed to be out of the Bay on Monday and he said he would make sure they got to the store Monday morning. Well, this guy kept his word and I got my tires early Monday morning and was back in Orange County by that afternoon. It was a great experience and I couldn't have been more pleased. I bought 4 tires & an alignment a few years ago and come in for regular rotate & balances & free flat repairs. The salesman ALWAYS try to sell me an alignment, even though its not pulling, tread wear is even and there's no cupping. Why? "Because it's been two years." I put up with it for a while because the quality of work was good, but lately it's gone to sh*t. Flats are fixed with plugs instead of patches (quick & lazy), and they failed to rebalance the tire after the last one, resulting in a shimmy all the way to San Diego and back last week. Took it in today to be told it will take 3 hours and I really need an alignment. Really? For a front wheel shimmy? With no uneven treadwear? For crap workmanship, the only thing I should hear is "I'm sorry sir, we'll fix it right away." Done. Not coming back. read more

I had an appointment today. I arrived for an oil/filter change and tire rotation. Mark said 45 minutes but it actually took them 1 1/2 hours. Then when I check my car in the parking lot I see that the tires were not rotated or touched at all. So they had to take my car back in the garage to do the rotation. Then when they gave me the car back again there were hand grease stains on the inside cloth and outside finish of my drivers side door. I had to take it back again to have them clean my upholstery. I need to be in and out quickly as my job depends on being on the road. I will not be using this location again. Not worth the aggravation. read more

If you find yourself out in the San Ramon/Danville area with nothing to do (a common occurence out here) and no tire tread to do it on (hopefully, uncommon), try Wheel Works. This place did great work for me last week. They gave me a reco on a tire type for my car that had great online reviews, suggested some web sites to check on tire reviews & stuff (I left to check them out then came back), and gave me a decent price. Not as cheap as if I'd ordered online and shipped to somewhere, but without all that hassle. And, I was time pressed before driving out of town before the holiday weekend, they got me in and out really fast, on schedule as promised. Bravo! read more
