Absolutely horrible experience! Our waitress was extremely rude, and her attitude only got worse when she brought us the wrong dinners. My in laws and husband got the margharita (sp?) pizza and it was tasteless and too thin to enjoy. I got the Italian sub with a side of fries and the meat tasted like it was sitting out for months and the fries were disgusting, my child got the pasta with side of vegetables and the vegetables were a lot warmer than they should of been. Then we got the check and it sure wasnt worth that much! Definitely will not be returning. read more

We figured we would stop in and try the new Pigs Fly Pizza place in Kittery today. After hearing a review of "fairly pricey for a pizza place" I thought it best to try and see for myself. First, kudos to the two bros who own it, after 20 years tossing dough they had the good sense to expand their offerings and to do it right here in Kittery. After today's visit (sat 4 pm) I am convinced there is no shortage of help. The place was swarming with high school kids all in their black WPF T shirts. Actually, it was uncomfortable as there were way too many waitpersons all gathered about the entrance leading toward restrooms. That was just odd. My hope is that they were in the midst of a training of some sort, but better left to a less busy period if that is the case. Why is it that restaurants have to make such a big flipping deal over salt and pepper? After all, it's a pizza place and to have to constantly relinquish the S&P shaker ( excuse me, grinders) to another table or waitperson is pathetic. Please, bring your own S&P if you want any, as you will wait while they find the sole set. Ok, so my biggest disappointment was in the pizza dough. Yes, it is delicious, soft, chewy, cooked just right and splendid tasting. BUT, and to me this is a BIG But, for a company that thrives on a vast selection of breads, what is with the single type of crust? I thought there would be a multitude of great choices for WPF pizza crusts mimicking some of their best breads like Anadama, whole wheat, multigrain...A HUGE disappointment, but hopefully that will come in time. The Greek salad was swimming in dressing, WAY overboard and far too much of it. We had 2 pizzas, 1 salad, 2 cokes and with tip it was around $52.00. So, not terribly overpriced but a bit steep for pizza in a spot that offers only a country view. I would go back in a couple months to see what improvements have been made after they have some wear and tear on the place. Last but not least, the decor is best described as uber- chipotle. Not my style as it is cold, loud and about as "un-Maine" as you could expect, but hey thats just my take on it. read more

Enjoyable. Good food. Nice change for eating place in Kittery. This place opened just about a week ago but I was willing to give it a chance. It always takes a while for a new place to get the kinks out but I was impressed that they have done as well as they have already. We enjoyed, with friends, a number of pizzas including the house made sausage; the meatball; the lobster; the clam and the shrimp. All were very good but the shrimp in my opinion was the best. I loved the pesto sauce on this one. We also tried the Greek salad and the three cookie gelato dessert. The salad was plenty big enough for two and the dessert can easily be shared with 4. We were impressed that the manager, Cindy, was very friendly and helpful. Also we found out that the owner/chef is hands on and is there baking the pizzas day and night. If any problem comes up, the manager will take care of it. I felt that the manager did want to hear about any issues we had so in the future the situation can be taken care of. The wait staff is young but the waiter we had seemed to know what he was doing (I believe his name was Taylor or Tyler). He was new yet he seemed like a pro. Great selection of beer. My husband and friends were impressed. We sit on the screened in Farmer's porch so the noise from the inside dining area was not so loud. The music was too loud inside but people must have complained as it was lowered. We were there early in the evening so there was no wait for a table or our food. We have heard between 6 and 8 that there can be a wait for a table. We found out they are not set up yet to do take outs between 6 and 8 pm because of not having warming ovens and an area to keep the pizzas. That may be a big disadvantage in the fall when the tourists go home and locals want a take out pizza. Also, there were no take home menus though we are told it is on the bakery's website. The decor is interesting. It is kind of a NYC industrial loft look. It is very loud in the dining room with everyone talking plus the music too so something might have to be done to make the noise level there less. Maybe some kind of acoustic tiles on the walls to lower the noise level. We would go back (plan to go back this Sunday with other friends.) It is a plus to also have the bread store attached. The store now has longer hours so it is nice to be able to get bread after we eat. The parking lot is big but the restaurant is so busy that it looks like at peak hours the spaces are at a minimum. It looks like, too, that maybe the employees take up a lot of spaces (too bad they did not have the employees park at their old store just down the street and save spaces for customers.) This restaurant is a work in progress so if you have been there and had a a problem, I wouldn't write them off. I overheard one person say: At least in September when the crowd goes away, we will have a nice place in Kittery to come for good pizza. read more

A cold January midweek night offered few options for dinner- we were happy to find 'The Fly' open, and with many tables full: but not the crazy crowds of summer. The look of the wood, steel and concrete decor seemed softer with the night time lighting: we chose to sit at the bar, where the strange looking seats were comfortable - and the welcome from the Bar keeper immediate and smiling. The list of beers on draft is long and amazing, samples are freely offered. ..and the one I ordered was delicious. We shared a plate of spicy roasted brussels sprouts to begin with- then pizza...their crust is delicious, thin -and the toppings always fresh. There was a mix up, and what we ordered arrived different: immediately the offer was made to remake it: and when we said no we would manage...the pizza baker made us another, exactly as ordered...to take home at no charge. All with a spirit of helpfulness, concern and apology... we were most grateful. I feel this restaurant, and the bread store next door- to be very well run: and admire Management for giving those working on the floor- the freedom to solve small problems. . read more

Excellent pizza and breads. We had the margarita pizza. We ate outside on the picnic tables since we had our dog with us. We also bought some artisan breads and a pretzel which were awesome. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because they only serve beer inside. We had to go next door to their market to get a non-alcohol drink. read more

Come for the beer stay for the food. Great selection of draft beers, wine on tap and interesting cocktail list. If you like to talk about beer, try to find John,the manager. Food here is great. Shared two pizzas and a salad, each was fantastic. Good service, bakery next door has some really good sour-dough. The main problem with this place is crowd-management and table-turnover. Friendly folks up front but they need to get a better handle on how to get names faster, get customers seated faster, clean-up tables and generally keep the line moving. Stopped in for a late dinner only 45 minutes before their closing time. We were warmly welcomed and assured that there was reason to hurry. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the Caesar Salad, but the house Mushroom Pizza was clearly the star -- white pizza with mushrooms, ricotta, fontina, truffle aoili and arugula. It was absolutely delicious! SERIOUSLY, everything they sell is DELICIOUS. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. It's such a fun atmosphere, you want to stay, hang out and EAT, eat, eat! The BEST Greek salad I have ever had in my life. The first time we visited, there was no wait (and it was busy) we sat at the bar. We received great service and the bartender was very attentive. I had the LOBSTER Roll which was fantastic and my husband fell in love with their pizza. Tonight we returned with our son. We ordered right away, our waitress~ Katie, was fabulous, friendly and helpful. Our food came within 10 minutes of ordering and it was out of this world! We ventured next door to buy some bread while we waited for our food, it was waiting for us when we returned!! The gentleman sitting next to us ordered the Greek salads because they said our order looked so GOOD! I cannot wait to return to try other things on the menu. BEST RESTAURANT EVER! Hands down, the best bread in New England! How could anyone sink their teeth into the chemical extravaganza of Wonder Bread (yes, it is a wonder they call it bread) with stuff like this around. Pigs' products are more expensive, but does anything made with love come cheap? I wish When Pigs Fly was more widely available is grocery stores, but I will take it where I can get it. First Experience: Ordered a pizza and a salad to go. Was not informed the sausage on the pizza was spicy. Not a big deal, but definitely would have liked to know. Second Experience: We were a group of 4, one in the group has a pretty serious gluten allergy. Yeah, yeah - a trendy allergy, but hers is pretty intense. So she had to ask a few more questions than normal. Our waitress was somewhat helpful, wound up sending something not gluten free to the girl. So when it was clarified that the food item was not gluten free, instead of just taking it away or comping it - the waitress asked us several times if we wanted to just eat it anyway. She didn't refill our drinks, water, didn't really come to check on us. All in all - the food is ok and it's not cheap. I'd rather go to Flatbread. -UPDATE 4/27/2014- Went back and had a much better experience. Staff was incredibly nice, helpful and willing to humor my man as he asked a bazillion beer questions. We were a group of 4 and had no problems at all. While I wouldn't consider this my go to place, I have definitely come around. read more

Our visit here started off shaky. We were seated a good 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and we were getting ready to just get up and walk out. A waitress finally came over and asked if anyone had been by to help us. She then went to check who our waitress was suppose to be and came back and reported that although we weren't in her section, she would take our order. Gee, thanks. At this point I didn't have high hopes for the place. They redeemed themselves with good food. The wood fired pizza is delicious and the ingredients are fresh. Do yourself a favor and save room for the cookie trio for dessert. The service got better as the meal went on but even if it hadn't, I would still go back for the pizza and cookie trio. read more

We've heard great things about this place, and decided to give it a try for dinner. Although this is primarily a pizzeria & bar, we decided to check out the other side of the menu. We were not disappointed. Food came out fast and was very fresh. The duck confit gnocchi was incredible - all components of this dish worked in harmony on the plate, soooooo much flavor! Pizza is way over priced, and is only OK in flavor. Was $18 for a pizza the size of most places "medium", that only had 2 toppings (ham/pineapple) on it! Staff seems grumpy, though service was prompt, just not friendly. I don't think I saw one person smile the whole time we were there. I have to add to this a review about their bakery next door. We went in to buy a loaf of bread while waiting for the pizza, again, very unfriendly service. Not a smile. When we sliced the bread at home the next day we found a LARGE black BUG in the middle of the loaf. It was vile. When I returned the bread I got the most bland response from the Asst Manager! He was barely apologetic, and muttered a "oh, and of course you are welcome to select a replacement loaf". That's it! You have a big black bug found in a loaf of your bread and you don't seem too concerned. Not to mention the last thing a customer might want is another loaf of potentially bug-filled bread!! Instead maybe offer a gift card to the restaurant. Very poorly handled. Needless to say, I prefer bug-free bread and won't be buying from them anymore!! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to stop in for lunch after doing some shopping at the outlets. Some friends had given rave reviews about WPF pizza so we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant was crowded and loud, not overly surprising for a Saturday. We were seated European style with two other couples at a long table. Not a problem, but may not be the preference for others. The way the tables were arranged made getting to the table a bit awkward. Service was friendly and standard. It was clear that the waitress was in the weeds because she seemed rushed when she spoke and forgot to fill our water glasses. For a starter, we had the pretzel served with honey and mustard. The pretzel was delightfully crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. While this made me look forward to the main course, the pizza was a huge disappointment. We ordered the Grilled Pineapple and Capicola pizza. The crust at its center was still slightly raw and floppy while the outside edge was burnt black. The Capicola was essentially flopped onto the hot pizza as an afterthought. It was still cold while the pizza beneath it was hot. Not too thrilling for an $18 pizza. I'll come back to the bakery to pick up bread, but I don't think I'll give the pizzeria another shot. read more

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful to explain different items to us and be happy for our trip (an obvious lesbian couple). We usually go for thicker crust than Pig's makes, but it was Sooooooo worth the few minutes it took to get to from the Kittery Outlets. The two of us ate an entire pizza and saw what other people got disappear too! We also stopped at the bakery next door that we were smelling the whole time- what a great idea. This was a really nice suprirse. It is right past all the outlet malls on Rt 1 and next to a bakery with same name. The restaurant has cool ambience. Sort of modern yet old fashioned at the same time. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful suggesting wines and beers for me and my dining companion. We ordered a pizza that was half very meaty for my friend and half cheese for me. It was delicious. The crust was thin but with good texture and flavor, and we watched the staff putting fresh herbs on the pizzas as we sat at the bar. All the staff seemed very pleasant and happy. Met up with a large party, kids included for dinner. We ordered drinks, appetizers, & 8 pizzas. I had the Winters Kiss lavender infused vodka cocktail. Actually I had 2. It was delicious. We ordered the pumpkin & candied bacon pizza with ricotta because it sounded so interesting, but I was definitely a little bummed. They had cooked the bacon to absolute death, and burnt the pizza enough that it tasted like pumpkin spiced char. The capicola & pineapple pizza was delicious, as was the eggplant, the Italian sausage & mushroom, the four cheese & the margherita. The small market next door sells the delish bread and small bottles of yummy, if overpriced, oils, vinegars & dips. On our way out the hostess asked if we wanted free bread, which of course we did, so now I'm snacking on the very yum pumpkin cranberry breakfast bread. Overall a lovely place for dinner with a lively & rambunctious crowd. Would not go here for a quiet or romantic evening. read more

I am a little bit of a pizza snob (my mom makes homemade pizza quite a bit, and makes everything, including the dough, from scratch) and I loved it!!! The food is delicious! We have gone a few times. My husband is a big fan of the club on cranberry bread. I've had the pizza which was phenomenal and definitely shareable if you can agree on which kind. It seems like they have a lot of beers on tap but we aren't big drinkers. The reason for 4 stars is because sometimes the service isn't the best. The first time we ate our entire dinner without any drinks and never saw the server once but it was still so good we came back!
