A FAVORITE STOP. The food is so good at this perfectly splendid small and inviting "hole-in-the-wall"seafood restaurant / fresh market. I've had the Royal Red shrimp, which reminds me of baby lobsters , and the crawfish special which was worth the mess of cleaning to eat! The key to any meal is their garlic butter!! We traveled to Navarre Beach for a week to enjoy the beach and fresh seafood. With the many options the Gulf Coast has to offer, we are so happy we found the best in Where y'at. We actually ate here three times this week because the food was so good. We search out local spots and try to find authentic hole-in-the-wall places that are the staple of a community. This place is so amazing, and everything is cooked to perfection. The freshness of all the seafood was the highlight, and they have mastered the side dishes that complement the fish, shrimp, and crawfish. The blackened catch of the day (grouper, black drum, and cobia) was amazing and cooked perfectly. The maque choux is the best side dish I have ever eaten and screams French Quarter! We finished our experience with beignets that were phenomenal as well. They have a fresh seafood market as well that you can take home to enjoy. The staff from the owner down are so friendly and welcoming that you feel like family. So happy we found this gem and can't wait to come back. read more

My G'daughter was visiting from DC during spring break, had researched Where Y'at and was anxious to go. We got there around 4pm, before the dinner crowd and was 3rd in line to order - waited about 15 minutes. She ordered the 2lb crawfish boil w/o sausage, I ordered shrimp basket at about $20 each plus an appetizer. Well at about 11pm she began vomiting and had diarrhea, non-stop! I immediately thought FOOD POISONING - the CRAWFISH!! I was ok from my shrimp meal and fried mushrooms app. She was scheduled to fly back to DC at 6am - which I had to reschedule (pay change fee). She continued vomiting and diarrhea throughout the day, we still go to the airport for 7:30pm Flt anyway but Delta didn't think she should fly - again canceled her flight. BTW, she had sprained her ankle prior to arrival and was on a knee scooter. I nurse her and returned to the airport the next day, she feels much better. I now call Where Y'at, request the Mgr and leave a VM - no reply after 2 days. I call again - VM ... I do finally get a call from Mgr. Courtney. I explain everything and request a refund for the crawfish - only. We had spent $63.xx and I was requesting $23 refund ... this Mgr. went back and forth with me about it not being food poisoning. No one else complained and how would they survive if they refunded money to everyone complaining ... DUH, what about good business practice!? She finally offered us a complimentary meal - I told her again that my G'daughter was back in DC and I'd NEVER come back to their restaurant!! I've gotten food poisoning from another seafood restaurant and thought it was a new allergy - Allergist said very often in this area Restaurants will serve BAD seafood ... thus I had food poisoning NOT allergy. I recently had dinner with a friend and she too purchased BAD seafood from Where Y'at, felt ignored and said she'd never go there again either! Wow!! Amazing New Orleans cuisine! I was in New Orleans earlier this year and the food at this restaurant is on par with the best restaurants in New Orleans! So tasty and fresh! We read an article in the local paper, the Navarre Press about the seafood market and restaurant and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The only drawback is the long wait and packed parking lot and limited seating both inside and outdoors. So we decided to order takeout. After we ordered we were told it would be 45 minutes before we got our food. It ended up taking 60 minutes, but well worth the wait! I ordered the grilled salmon special with rice and bread and a side of boiled mushrooms. My husband ordered a shrimp Po Boy and an order of seafood gumbo. The roux was so flavorful! But, this restaurant has all the vibes of seafood..get there EARLY or you'll need to go back a second time (which isn't bad). Gumbo is fine!!.. has everything except a deadman's toes it's as Cajun & creole as New Orleans itself. The oysters are fresh and from their oyster bar!! A fun place in the middle of nowhere with good New Orleans food. Enter into the front building and order at the counter. There was a bit of a line but the staff was friendly. They give you a number for your table and a runner brings your food out. It was busy the night we went so the wait for our food was probably close to 45 min. You get your drink refills yourself. There are a few tables in the front but through the back door is a walkway to an enclosed picnic room and the food truck kitchen. The picnic room has mostly big tables and was surrounded by big screen TVs with football on but the sound off for conversation. There was a wall fan to cool the room off and with the windows open there was a breeze. It's definitely a hole in the wall place. The boiled crawfish were really good for being so late in the season. A bit tough to peel but the flavor was on point. Gumbo was too salty for my taste but otherwise good. Shrimp poboy was nice, had a good amount of fried shrimp. They could have had a little more kick in the seasoning. Key lime pie was heavier on the cream cheese and not as tart as I prefer. Overall, a big variety in the menu with something for everyone. I almost NEVER Ever give 5 stars but this place is the GOAT!! We just had the best onion rings, shrimp poboy, and crab & corn chowder that I've put in my mouth. And, as an after thought, we finished lunch off with an order of beignets- Oh My Gosh - perfection!! We'll never go to Cafe du Monde again. This is coming from a champion FOOD SNOB!! Just saying! Yelp was truly spot on today! Outside of NO, it's hard to get good bread on a poboy but this little Food Truck kitchen must bring it in daily. Even the cocktail sauce was perfect. Navarre is our new favorite travel destination because of Where Y'all at? We ate outside on some picnic tables and the sunny location was so relaxing. I should note that while there is limited seating inside, they do have a covered pole barn that must seat 50-60. Our service was fairly quick and service staff was charming. This is also a fresh seafood market so you can pick up a few pounds of fresh fish to take home. All said, we can't wait to come back!! read more

Hidden gem! We tried lots of things -- seafood gumbo, crab & corn chowder, red beans & rice to start. All were mouth watering delicious! The red beans & rice is the best I have had ever in my life. It would be worth it just to get as an entree if you need a break from seafood. The seafood platter blackened was *chef's kiss*. My dad had the catch of the day platter ($22), a speckled trout blackened (that also came in the seafood platter). The seafood platter is only $5 more than the catch of the day platter and you get to try the catch of the day along with oysters and shrimp. Splurge on the seafood platter! We also ordered a side of hush puppies -- fried to perfection. When we vacay at the beach we usually like to eat out on the water -- even though this wasn't on the water we ate out on the patio which was basically just as pleasant! Weather was sunny and mid-70's or you could sit under their covered patio -- plus they had a football game playing on the big screen outside, which my dad loved. Their beignets seem to be the most popular so that's what we got for dessert. The assistant manager explained to me they use fresh (not frozen) dough. They were fresh, melt in your mouth delicious! She also told me their banana pudding is made with fresh sliced bananas every day. Honestly the best part of ALL their food is everything taste so fresh! Even their side of potato salad had freshly sliced bacon bits on top of it. Loved all of those special touches. The staff were all down to earth and wonderful as well. This was our 'find' on this vacation! We had heard about it and my daughter and SIL stopped here while out running errands to grab some food (and green peanuts for me!). They got a couple kinds of soups and some egg rolls too. They raved about how delicious it was so my husband and I went there for dinner that night. This place is located on 87 where a 'biker bar' was located every time we visited before, we used to drive by frequently when we visited my daughter that lived close by here. My daughter kept saying she wished it was there when she previously lived in Navarre. I ordered the seafood basket and my husband ordered the catch of the day basket (mahi-mahi) and we ordered them blackened. We sat at the bar to eat and have a drink. Our meals were delicious, my only complaint is they put the seafood/fish on top of the fries which made them a little soggy. The side of corn that came with my husbands meal was amazing!!! We decided to split a bread pudding for dessert and it was amazing, one of the best I've ever eaten (even my own homemade!). Really nice people that own/run the place and they had fun making fun of our Boston accent! My daughter went back the next day to grab some more food and a couple pounds of their shrimp cocktail which came with an amazing sauce.
