Beautiful ceramics for sale and ample seating

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Just tried this cute hidden gem in Casa Linda and it was lovely![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owners are siblings from El Salvador so they have really creative syrup flavors and great beans! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This shop is surprisingly spacious![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And it was very quiet when I went in, I would think a great place to study or read![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have ceramics and art from local artists.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely recommend giving this place a try, it's near the Albertsons tucked into Casa Linda!

I met up with a co-worker here for coffee recently. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a quaint little shop on the corner in a strip mall on the northeast corner of Garland Rd and Buckner. It has a lot of character, obvious from the moment you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The colors, the plants, the openness of it - it makes you feel like you're at your neighbor's house for coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the living room look, with mismatched seating, along with a small area for the little ones to keep occupied.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried a muffin, which was very good. Smaller than other shops. Later I purchased a raspberry danish to take home, which wasn't near as good as it looked, but not bad. The staff member behind the counter offered to heat it up for me. My latte was fair, I'd probably just stick to regular coffee next time. It's a nice place and I will return, go try it for yourself!

    Fresh Pupusas served occasionally :)

I love visiting unique coffee shops, and this Salvadorian spot is becoming one of my favorites! Not only do they have some distinct flavors/syrups, they even serve fresh pupusas on occasion! I got the Buñuelos Latte which was different for me, but it was so so good and the syrup was house made! The staff are also always very knowledgeable, and make you feel at home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot may look small on the outside, but it's rich in culture and truly a hidden gem![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was really impressed by El Portón. I got a cortado and a beef empanada. Both items were priced reasonably and were very well done. The cortado was one of the best I have ever had. The staff were friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was solid with plenty of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only complaint was that the wait time on both items was fairly steep (maybe 20 min). Despite the wait, I fully plan on coming back and would call this one of the best coffee shops in Dallas.

I got the iced lavender latte which was good but nothing special in my opinion. I also got the western empanada which was good, but again nothing super special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is really cute and cozy. Tons of spaces to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The barista was also kind!

I really loved this little coffee shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is cozy and cute![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the decor and color scheme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a decent amount of seating in my opinion and a couple nice sized tables for a group of 4.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were kind and the food/drinks were good. I'd definitely visit again!

Iced vanilla matcha, iced vanilla latte, beef empanada and chorizo and egg empanada

This is my favorite coffee shop in Dallas hands down. Really good coffee AND matcha which is hard to find a place that does both that good. Also the empanadas are sooo good. I need to try everything cause I have yet to be disappointed

If you're looking for a delicious coffee shop, El Portón is the one for you! I had to go back for their Horchata Cold Brew. We also tried their empanadas and pupusas and chocolate pastry. They were a 10/10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is spacious and feels just like home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] & the staff is super sweet and always makes sure our drinks taste perfect!!

I'm glad I stumbled across this hidden gem of a coffee shop! Had no problems with parking as El Porton Coffee is located in a plaza. The inside is beautiful! Lots of plants and personalized decor. There is a decent amount of seats for both work/study and socializing. The baristas were very nice. I ordered the Tres Leches Coconut Latte. It had a great flavor, although if I had to nitpick, I wish there was just a tad less milk. I would definitely come back again and recommend others to try this awesome coffee shop!

Cream cheese + calabaza pastry, calabaza latte, beef empanada

Absolutely love!! A friend recommended this place and it did not dissapoint ‍ I got the calabaza latte and the calabaza cream cheese pastry along with a beef empanada

el patron is a lovely café. the owners are kind and the decor is cozy. definitely loved the bites and drinks. i ordered the summer nostalgia.. kinda wish the apricot notes shined through more, but the espresso was smooth and very easy to drink. i am definitely adding el patron to my coffee rotation because who needs starbucks when you have a locally owned and beautifully styled coffee shop like this!!! #ditchstarbucks

    Horchata Latte with oat milk
    Yolanda H.

It was a great experience!! I took a few minutes to review the speciality menu. I selected the Salvadoran Horchata cold brew with oat milk. I enjoyed it because it was not very sweet. The spice was good!

This is a quaint little place! It's very clean and the gals working were nice and quick making my coffee. I really enjoyed my mocha latte (with skim milk). What a treat! I'd recommend this coffee shop if you want somewhere to go to study or read!

We ended up here after stopping by Well Grounded Coffee Co. right down the road. I can't speak to…read morethe food there, but upon entering that location (Well Grounded), there was a strong and overwhelming malodorous scent giving off vibes of cigarettes mixed with sewage, so we promptly left and came to Ascension! Ah much much better! Ascension Coffee, in contrast, smelled pleasant and was quite clean. Our server was helpful and friendly, though we did have to indicate / flag him over to bring the check. The table seating was pretty close together/ not the most private feeling. At a table spaced next to us, a couple was having a first date and we could hear most every word without intending to just with how close the seats are, but that proved to be sort of sweet and charming. It didn't really bother us, though it was distracting from the study we were trying to do together. We ordered drinks. My tea (flirt tea) had a strong, full, unique flavor I enjoyed a lot. The mug had a striking with the geometric aesthetic, though for some reason I found every time I drank it dribbled onto the table some with the angles; still can't figure why. The art in Asenscion was very distinctive, likewise angular, and fun to take in too. It wouldn't be my first choice for coffee shops simply due to the layout; I prefer a bit more privacy when I'm seeking a coffee shop, however the service and drinks we got were really wonderful! It also was SO much of a better option for hang places than Well Grounded just from the smell factor alone. If it wasn't so oppressively hot in July when we visited, the outdoor seating looked amazing / perfect! Last minor quibble, our table was uneven/ wobbly, as were the ones next to us. This was only noticeable as we were working on a book study.

Migas breakfast was awesome. The vinegarette was delicious with it, even better adding chaolula. The hibiscus tea was also super yummy. Small parking lot but there is parking on site so that's a plus.

When I played checkers here, I got stomped but at least there was pie to comfort me. I got the apple pie as I'm weak to the classics and it's one of the best pies I've ever had. The crust is so flaky but not dry and the apple filling wasn't overly sweet. I wish I got to try their crawfish or pot pie but alas it was sold out. But that probably means it's incredible and I have to keep coming back.

Both pies are served cold of course, and the custard/creams were thick and luscious. I loved the tang of the Texas lime, might be too sour for some but perfect for me. The custard is made with condensed milk, so it's definitely still sweet. The Coconut Joy pairs together coconut cream and Humble's chocolate pot de cream, which married deliciously together. Next time I'd really like to try some warm pies with ice cream! We were the only ones inside for a while, and it was such a nice space to just hang out; the tables had activities like checkers and dominos, and there was a bookshelf near the front door with plenty of reading material. Overall enjoyed coming here and eating in, would recommend!
