They were super busy but for us in within 30-45 minutes party of 5. We all had tried something different and each meal tasted great. Including the appetizer and dessert. I didn't like it. Place seems to be busy. Plenty of people in my family like it and we have been there a few times. I have personally made the decision I will not be going back I will save my 25.00 and go elsewhere. By time you get your meal, pop and tip its 25 bucks a person. Service is normally good. It's not a very friendly place in my opinion. Ambiance is kind of a dive, extremely dark and extremely cold in there, seems like there is quite a few regulars. Orders come out pretty quick. I got one of their prime rib sandwiches. I thought it tasted dull, with a lack of flavor, fries were good but sparely put on your plate. The other two times I went there I got their burger and fries. Burger was a little greasy but was okay, nothing special, but decent. Both times I ordered the burger; fries were good but a very little amount like the other two times I had been there. A lovely welcoming haven after a brutal Mudhens game. We arrived about 40 minutes to close and felt bad about it but by the time we got here on a holiday weekend we were not left with a ton of choice. Our waitress Michelle was so very gracious to us. Despite the late hour she was super friendly, welcoming and informative. No hint of omg please you late comers, it's closing. Heck we did not even order drinks so she had to be at least inwardly groaning but you would never know it. She was utterly fantastic. 5 stars for her, seriously. The food was very tasty. I had a French dip. Really well seasoned with melty white cheese and hot au jus for the dip. Fries were piping hot and fresh to go with. My husband had the double stacked BLT, his was even better than mine. Lots of bacon which was perfectly cooked on triple toast with the fixings. We were very happy indeed. Kudos. read more

I would say that the only unfortunate aspect about this place is the location and real estate. I only wish this place was larger and not positioned in a strip mall, next to a carry out. If you are a burger lover you have to give this one a try... you won't regret it. My literal words were, "this burger is a 10 out of 10". Fresh off the grill, juicy, with crispy bacon, just incredible. Now, this was my first time here, and this is the only meal I have tried, but it could honestly be the only option and I would come back for it. Fellow friends that accompanied me tried the roast beef Philly and the grilled chicken sandwich. Everyone had great things to say about their meals. The waitress was a total pro and rattled off a bunch of other great options that are not on the menu, so make sure you pay attention. She even was so patient that she repeated the options three times to our not so attentive group. Side note: the atmosphere and music is chill and cool. We stopped by Whiskey & the Wolf for a happy hour/early dinner. The spot is in a nondescript strip mall, but the interior is cozy and inviting. They offer $7 appetizers and $2 cheap beer. A decent beer, indeed. We tried the chicken tenders and fries, along with the potato croquettes and nachos. The tender and fries were great! The choice of dipping sauce allows you to get exactly what you want. The croquettes and nachos were also great. I like how they had grilled peppers and street corn on the nachos! Whiskey & The Wolf came as a total surprise due to its indistinct look from the street. Friends recommended a dinner there - hubba hubba! What delicious food and solid cocktail menus. The three entrees were; 1) Corned beef sandwich w/roasted broccoli - just outstanding heat, texture and flavor; 2) Crispy chicken thigh sandwich - one friend raved over its flavors and; 3) seared chicken sandwich - same as #2. Whiskey & The Wolf is surprisingly low key in its presentation; a local haunt I think run by brothers. Their wait staff was very good. The whiskey & bourbon & scotch products were diverse; my Glenfiddich 12 was superb, served neet. Very relaxed atmosphere given the high-end foods being served. First time here and was surprised at how good it was. Yeah this restaurant has a lot great reviews but I started to doubt based on the outside of the building. It's in a small strip mall and looks rather bland on outside. But I was approaching hangry state so we went in for our late lunch. The interior of the restaurant was very attractive - made up for the bland exterior. We had two waitresses as one was in training. Both were very friendly and eager to help. I ordered a burger and fries. Hubby ordered a steak au jous sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were great!! I loved the grilled bun on the burger and the fries were extra crispy liked I ordered. This place right here is something nice. It's very small, so there is usually a wait. But they are extremely efficient and get folks seated with quickness. The small size of the dining area still does not feel overly intrusive. I barely heard any other tables. All of that aside, the real focus at Whiskey is he food. These guys don't mess around. Flavor town-worthy for sure. As a matter of fact, they'd make a great focus for a Guy Fieri show. The perch is phenomenal, served with a really good handmade tarter sauce and coleslaw that was pleasantly sweet. I liked it. I almost loved it. Which is why it's not five stars. The service was great from when you come to the door and someone greet you right away and find you a place to sit. I wonder if that will remain the same after about six months or so. Everything we ate or drink was good. I can't say that they have a good beer selection because I am a snob but it is above average. I actually decided to try a glass of pinot grigio wine for this dinner which was very good. So we both ordered appetizers entree and dessert. We got the chicken tenders, the deviled eggs, the chicken thigh sandwich and my baby got the roast beef sandwich with the au jus. My sweetie said the au jus was very salty n actually put water in it to tone it down a bit but I loved everything that I ate. I just wish the chicken sandwich had some cheese on it. And for me to almost eat the whole sandwich the portion size has to be very small. The sandwich size is small We got the Banana Foster for dessert which was very delicious but we can only eat a little bit because both of us can't tolerate a lot of dairy products. I hated to see the Elbo Room close...I miss that unique and delicious pizza sauce. But, the establishment that took its place is pretty unique and delicious in its own right. A saloon by the name of "Whiskey & The Wolf" now occupies the eastern end of that Alexis Road strip mall. What could easily have been just another divey North Toledo neighborhood bar turned out to be a whole lot more. Lets start at the beginning...with the word 'Whiskey.' Yes, they have a nice selection of various styles of whiskey. There's nothing crazy rare or crazy expensive, but there are several styles that you usually don't see just anywhere: Japanese whiskey? Yep. "For relaxing times, make it Suntory time." Scotch, Irish, Bourbon, Rye, Canadian, American, etc. On the average, I'd say there's at least five or six brands of each style. A whiskey snob might balk at the selection, but if you can't find a brand/style that suits you here at W&TW, you're probably a little too fastidious. Beer? (Le Fin Du Monde + Wiehenstephaner hefewiezen) = AWESOME! Also, you'll find a milk stout, a sour, some IPAs, etc. Several domestic lagers are accounted for, but sorry, no "Gennessee." The main attraction, in terms of food, are their hot roast beef sandwiches. If you're thinking Red Wells, sorry, it's not that kind of roast beef sandwich. Think "Arby's on steroids," but significantly superior. In fact, these are the best hot roast beef sandwiches that I've had in a long, long time. The perfectly slow roasted (about 10 hours, in house) beef is thinly sliced, lean, juicy, flavorful, and plentiful. These sandwiches are served in one of four styles; I've had the classic (onions and mild horseradish) and the au poivre. They usually come with steak fries, but you can substitute if you want. The coleslaw is fantastic and is clearly made from scratch; it has tons of its own flavor (no need for additional pepper or hot sauce). For an extra blast of protein (not that I needed it...the sandwiches probably have about 40+ grams), I tried the deviled eggs. Damned good. Atmosphere: I like the vibe. Laid back...parts of W&TW almost have a 1940s feel. The music is laid back (Walk the Moon, Twenty One Pilots, etc...hey, not even I can listen to AC/DC or Public Enemy ALL the time). The crowd is laid back. Totally a neighborhood feel, but with really great food. Best of all, it's owned by some local boys who've lived in the neighborhood forever... that is, ever since they were kids...50+ years. Man, I really want to go there right now, and I'm actually pissed because, according to yelp, Whiskey & The Wolf is closed today. I'm dying to try the French dip roast beef. Maybe tomorrow. Whiskey & The Wolf didn't meet my expectations. The service wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. There were no other customers seated at tables when we arrived. We waited longer for service than I would have expected in a busy restaurant, and much too long considering the place was empty. More people came in and the service was immediately noticeably slower. There were two of us. The food didn't all come out at the same time. Some of the food was warm but not as warm it should have been. Some of the foods was cold. The food was OK, but not anything memorable, other than the prices. The prices are memorable because they are too high for what you get. The food might have tasted better if it had been served at the proper temperature. It's basically bar food at a bar. The decor and ambiance are that of a bar more so than a restaurant. I gave the restaurant three stars, which is probably being a little too generous. If the service was better, the food served at the proper temperature, and the prices not so ridiculously high, the restaurant would be a solid three stars, but they have a long way to go to earn a fourth star. If I were the owner or the manager, I'd be having some serious talks with the staff. The place is basically a bar. Maybe they take the bar side of the operation more seriously. We won't be back. There are better options nearby. Even if there weren't, we would not go back. read more

If I'm honest my experience was probably a 3 star but once everything was fixed the food was good and I would definitely come back. We ordered the potato croquettes for an app they were hot and delicious. My huband ordered a dbl burger and fries and I ordered the French dip add caramelized onions and swt pot fries. The food came out and as soon as my husband picked up a fry he said these are ice cold. I layed my hand across all of them and he was right. I looked at my sandwich and my provolone cheese wasn't melted at all (kind of a pet peeve of mine on hot sandwiches) and the caramelized onions were missing. They brought out fresh fries right away and offered to bring the onions also. I didn't care for the sauce the swt potato fries came with but everything else tasted great! I would like to return and eat my way through the appetizers while having a drink...also the decor is cute( I love the blue and retro booth lights) and they had great music playing while we were there. Lovely little place right near my home. It's a nice restaurant/bar atmosphere, dark inside but just the right amount of lighting at each table thanks to a wall sconce. My most recent experience I was very impressed. After our appetizer (potato croquettes w/ sour cream & chives, yum!) my husband and I noticed it was taking awhile to get our food, but after a bit we got it, plenty fresh and hot. The manager apologized for the wait and we were even offered a free dessert (dark chocolate brownie with ice cream). We hadn't even mentioned the wait, they made up for it all on their own. I definitely made the best pick with the turkey club! I subbed marble rye because a club on a bun didn't sound quite right to me. I also always get aoli on the side to control portions and it was fab! Perfectly cooked egg! My hubs had the recommended french dip and said the meat was very good, but fries and au jus were cold. My son had the 3 cheese grilled cheese and liked it for what it was. As for atmosphere, 3/5 because it was really cold and drafty and we are usually warmer than most people.
