Went for happy hr and stayed for dinner. I had a nice outing with my coworkers. We shared appetizers, laughs and a few cocktails. I ordered the steak frites with creamy horseradish sauce. Steak cooked medium paired with truffle fries. It was perfection in each bite. Pricing is decent for happy hr and their regular menu is fair as well. Plenty of parking in their private lot, farm style bathroom area and plenty of seating options at the bar and in the restaurant. Check them out for brunch, happy hour or dinner! I'm sure you'll leave satisfied. And dont forget to grab a slice of the infamous Whiskey Cake

This place has always been a favorite of mine. Most recently i went for brunch and was not disappointed. I had the strawberry short-stack pancake it was delicious! I paired it with their grits and it was the perfect sweet and spicy combo. I got the cinnamon roll as well. The cinnamon roll was tough to cut but the flavor was good, especially the sauce. The service was great and the restaurant was clean as usual. I definitely will be going back for brunch again soon

Omg! I found the best fish and chips in the area! The fish was perfectly cooked as it was so flaky and tender. The batter was light and crispy and not greasy. I love that their fries are hand cut and they are really good. The fish and chips dish is hands down 5/5! I can't believe it took me this long to try Whiskey Cake. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of seatings, yet its rustic modern-industrial décor and dim lighting give off a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's very Joanna Gaines. While the ambiance is casual, the food is exquisite and the portion size is very generous. The service was incredibly friendly. My server was warm, welcoming, and attentive. I highly recommend trying their Whiskey Cake and would rate it 5/5. It was too much for two people, so I took it home and was glad I did because I enjoyed it the next day for lunch. Who doesn't love cake for lunch? =) I will surely be back soon!

We decided to stop here and truly enjoyed everything! The food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The place was clean and well kept, which made the experience even better. The chicken and waffles were good especially with the Tabasco sauce! It added the perfect kick of flavor. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much is the charred taste however this maybe a place I will circle back too.

Got the chicken and waffles which were fire. Super crispy chicken, fluffy waffles, loved the fried egg, and the side of gravy was excellent. The mac and cheese was pretty tasty. Also split a burger which I thought was just fine. Had to get dessert and there was one clear choice: the Whiskey Cake. I mean if you go to Whiskey Cake and you don't get the Whiskey Cake did you even go to Whiskey Cake?? This ish is MADNESS. So insanely good its rich and fluffy but dense and creamy and smokey and nutty and just such a beautiful creation wow.

Drove a shout and 10 minutes to visit Whiskey Cake for an event. Man! What a pleasant surprise. The event was empowering. But the ambiance was amazing! It feels like you're stepping into someone's large living room with all your cousins! The lounge area near the back is so inviting to just sit a while. The servers were awesome! Our server was Cody I believe was his name. He handled our party very well, while also assisting patrons in the dining area. Even more amazing was the assistance offered to help me get in my car. The manager on duty , asked Cody if he would back my car out, because the car beside me parked to close for me to get in. Cody happily helped, as well as load my walker. I am beyond grateful for their help. Now, the food was delicious!!! During the event I had several appetizers, as well as an entree. No complaints at all! This location is definitely one I will return too. Thank you Whiskey Cake for an excellent experience!

I enjoyed this restaurant. The glowy ambience and the rustic feel is very high end. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were pretty attentive. There are two TVs if you find the need to watch football. I really came here for the pork chop! And it did not disappoint. Please get it. The perfectly crusted and juicy. Amazing. The deviled eggs present well but were very very bland. Didn't finish them. The crispy potatoes were pretty good. Could have been more crispy and seasoned but with some ranch they were edible. The Gouda Mac and cheese was ok. I think chefs may need to start tasting the food to see what is missing. Flavors were lacking all around. I have been twice and it's the same. Espresso martini was not good. Taste like sweet, bitter coffee. I am quite the connoisseur and this was my least favorite that I've had in a while Beautiful location and inside and kept very well. Very cozy.

We came here last minute for a dinner with friends and we were surprised with how good it was for a chain restaurant. I had the steak frites and the steak was sooo good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were perfect! The bone in pork chop was also amazing cooked perfectly and full of flavor and the peach that came on the side was amazing. If you do get a couple of appetizers you HAVE to get the candied bacon and goat cheese fondue. Both appetizers absolutely amazing, full of flavor and a must! We will definitely be back the quality of the food is unmatched. We highly recommend!

Great food with nice service as always. Have been to a couple of Whiskey Cake locations. Had a great evening here for a work outing Monday night.. There were over 20 of us. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. It was weird that we mainly had one server for such a large group. But for the most part she kept up with us all. Had a few appetizers to sample, the charcuterie board. Deviled eggs and goat cheese were all great. Top quality ingredients. My main entree was sadly cold on the outside and only warm in the center. Things did not come out all at once, so it was not a matter of 20 plates being served at same time. But food was still good. I got the English pea pasta ; and sadly found out I do not like english peas (not restaurants fault) but chicken, sauce and pasta were great themselves. I gotta add the atmosphere is great. Feels like you are eating in a cabin, and the restroom it self is just cool to look at and experience....

Fish and chips

The fish and chips were delicious. The portion was huge. We sent the fries back because they were cold, but our server, Jonathan took great care of us and brought hot fries. We will be back for sure.

We had a great experience visiting the Whiskey Cake Katy location. I tried the peach cobbler french toast and it was way more food than I was expecting! Really tasty my husband had chicken and waffles and received a large portion as well that he really enjoyed. Service was quick and very attentive.

Came here for brunch over the weekend with my girlfriend and another couple. We made reservations for 12pm on Sunday and were shocked that it wasn't crowded yet. We were seated in a booth off to the side with the best dimmed lighting, it was very relaxing. The food was delicious and HUGE. I ordered the Croque Madame-It (LOL) and it was heaven in my mouth. My girlfriend got the short stack, which was confusing, because it was gigantic. I'm so curious to see what a normal stack would have been haha. We didn't drink but loved that they had a Women's History Month themed menu :)

Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar

Do y'all do reservations?

They do! Online!

Is the regular menu available during brunch hours?

Yes

Is the patio pet friendly?

Yes it is! For all animals, not just service animals!

Do they have a vegan menu? It says vegan options but I don't really see anything, besides a salad :-/

Seems like they have no real vegan options besides maybe some salads. I don't know what that other answer to your questions is the guy didn't answer your question at all. Does he know what vegan means? All he did was list meat items? What an idiot.

How is HH? What kind of specials do they have?

On Friday Nights $5 old fashions

Is dog friendly?

Yes, but you must sit outside with your dog. They have a roof as well.

What are the ladies night deals on Wednesday's? Half priced wine? Anything else? How does it work during happy hour? (Website is really slow and maybe malfunctioning so I can't get the information there)

Half priced wine is all night whereas their Happy Hour is only until 6pm and then again from 9p-11p. I haven't ever had anything additional offered for Ladies Night other than wine in all of my visits which is a bummer

What time is brunch served?

Sunday's from open until 3:30 PM

Do you have a party room or the capacity to serve a graduation party of 35-40?

Yes we do. Our room can hold up to 50 ppl. Jenny is our event manager and she would love to help you out. Her email is Jenny.beth@whiskey-Cake.com

Is the Ramen really any good?

I don't know Zach other than to say that he read a Yelp review I did and recommended hard-boiled eggs. I assumed he was selling like any good manager however his recommendation was spot on...the hard-boiled eggs which change with some regularity…

What times are the lunch menu and happy hour served?

11-3 lunch Happy hour is 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11pm

Would this be a good spot to watch the game? I can't remember the TV set up... ?

Aloha... Yes! ... Go Astros!!! #HoustonStrong ??

I saw the pic of the onion dip and was immediately excited. I noticed that it is only in the lunch menu. We have plans to have dinner there Saturday with some friends. My question is will I be able to order the onion dip?

Yes we actually sell it all day everyday!

I ordered the Coconut Seafood Stew, and it was incredible, rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. It easily ranks among my top 20 favorite dishes I've ever had. The only thing that didn't quite match the experience was the interior. The atmosphere feels more like a nightclub than a restaurant serving such elevated cuisine. A more upscale, modern design would better complement the quality of the food and create an even more memorable dining experience. What a great dining experience! This was my first time here. I was heading into heavy rush-hour…read moretraffic, so I decided to avoid it and stop to have a good meal before heading home. This restaurant definitely aims to please. I was being very specific about what I wanted for my ribeye steak tonight; waitress Jessie was awesome and listened carefully to my requests. And then to make sure that I was absolutely happy, she brought Chef Kenneth to the table to discuss what I was looking for. Kenneth returned from the kitchen with three beautiful-looking ribeye steaks and we discussed which one would give me the best dining experience. He does some of the butchering himself so he knew exactly what I was looking for. I ended up being served the most fabulous Wagyu steak I've had in a very long time. Unlike the other steaks that can have a seasoning on them, the Wagyu is just salt and pepper and then is served with a beautiful compound butter slathered all over it. They make that butter in-house and it has wine and shallots and bone marrow and other wonderful stuff. Trust me, it's amazing! I ordered extra on the side and poured that all over the top of the steak. Delicious!! Sometimes little things count and it was served with grilled onion that was tasty. I could have had a side of mashed potatoes or asparagus, but I decided to treat myself and try the mac-n-cheese instead. Half of that food was my lunch the next day, so I left enough room for dessert, where my choice was the apple pie bread pudding with cinnamon roll ice cream. That was nice and moist and I enjoyed it. Overall, this was a really great dining experience and I'm so glad that bad traffic gave me the excuse to come here. Will definitely plan a return visit!!

While we completely understand wanting to protect expensive furniture, the tone and delivery came across as rude and made our entire table feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. On the other hand, I want to recognize our waiter, who was excellent throughout the meal. Raymond was attentive, friendly, and did his best to make us feel comfortable again after the interaction with the manager. His professionalism and kindness were the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, the food also fell short of expectations. In particular, I would not recommend the mussels. The flavor was unpleasant and left a very bad aftertaste, making them one of the least enjoyable dishes we ordered. Good customer service isn't just about enforcing rules--it's about how those rules are communicated. Unfortunately, the manager's approach, combined with the disappointing food, overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

Another pleasant surprise in what I'm going to arbitrarily designate as a brunch fusion menu…read more Firstly, it's a very nice layout. Tables are well spaced plenty of room eight crisp environment really just a very comfortable ambience. The services superlative from the moment you walk in in which you are immediately accommodated to the server who takes an order and then the servers who serve the food which is not necessarily one in the same. It's simply a very efficient service system and very pleasant if you're a customer. You get warm food. In my case I had hollandaise with Salman underlying it, which was very good. The eggs were cooked perfectly the hollandaise not by any means obnoxious but a very deliberate Irving and a wonderful salad, which both underlines the egg and is served as a side with the eggs, which were perfectly poached. In so far as the buzz is concerned, there are wines and beer available and really quite an extensive menu in both. I enjoyed a beer with mine, which I know it sounds like an odd combination, but it worked quite well for me. Really this is a wonderful addition to Katy options for breakfast or brunch.

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 330. The brunch menu is huge. It is not a super large menu, which I feel very endearing. We decided to try the bagel and lox with cream cheese, the Buzz burger with fries, and their homemade chips. They start off by bringing you this beautiful craft of bottled water. That to me was an amazing bonus. We also ordered two sodas which came in a can. I sort of wish it was a more of a fountain drink than one can of soda for the price. *Now service was super slow. However, the waitress did come and tell us that they are running a little behind and she apologized for it and she was super sweet, so that made up for the weight. How do I known how long it was going to take, I don't know if I would've stayed, but in the end, the food was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend is a hamburger snob and he kept saying how good it was how fresh it was and how perfectly cooked it was. They serve you shoestring fries that feel like they're double fried and they were phenomenal. My bagel was toasted perfectly and had a very good amount of cream cheese and lox. As a Jewish girl living in the area that I do, it's very hard to find good bagels with lox and cream cheese. I will most definitely be back for this sooner than later. The homemade chips took quite a while to come out, and at one point I was ready to say we don't need it, but these potato chips beat Buccees beaver chips, 100%. They were super fresh and very crunchy and tasted amazing. I will definitely recommend those to anybody that orders some. My boyfriend then ordered a tropical sunrise smoothie and it was so tasty and tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie. Now once again that did take a long time to come out and at one point, we were wishing we had not ordered it but once we did get it, it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is not very large and it's the perfect brunch spot for anybody looking for a smaller Cafe with very good choices.

Let me start by saying I've been here multiple, multiple times & I've never had any food items that weren't good. I always get breakfast (even if it's lunch time) so I don't know much about the lunch items. Not only is the food outstanding with a creative twist, it's consistent. Over the years, the place has expanded several times so now there is a decent amount of dine-in seating in addition to the outdoor seating. The place still stays packed but with their text ahead wait for list system & efficiency in seating customers, if there is a wait things move along smoothly. Additionally, anyone who is waiting knows it's worth the wait!! The service staff are friendly. The atmosphere is homey & they decorate for the various holidays & seasons. Owner/chef Lori is always walking around asking guests if everything is ok. On at least 2 occasions she happen to chat with me/my guest about some dietary restrictions & she whipped something up for us to try. My go-to dish is the harvest breakfast where you can pick 4 breakfast items from a list. This is a great way to sample more menu items. Here's my take on some of my favorites: - Sourdough pancakes are thin & really delicious. - Belgium Leige waffle is very sweet with the pearl sugar "nuggets" in them so taste them before you add a lot of syrup. - Scrambled eggs are well seasoned, not bland. - Avocado & tomato or the fresh fruit are nice light touches as one of the side items choices. - Fried chicken tenders are really good. Spice level 3 (medium) is not that spicy. It's flavorful. - Grilled chicken tenders are good. As much as I typically eat grilled or baked chicken, I allow myself to choose fried for these. - Grits are creamy. I get them with no cheese. I'm not a big grits person but I do like these! The menu is very extensive. It includes vegan, vegetarian, keto & gluten free. Is the breakfast a little pricey, the answer is "it's all relative." Sometimes it's just worth paying for a great meal. In case you haven't gotten the message, Harvest Kitchen is a must try. Do yourself a favor & have a visit. I'm betting it will stay on your list as a repeat eating spot!!
