Came to have a glass of wine and ended up ordering a pizza. They looked amazing but ended up tasting even better. It was called "Old World" pizza. Basically like a margarita pie but better!!! Ok, I attempted to have lunch here, which I have passed 100 times during my many trips to Bishop, but I came in about 1:30 and the place was 1/2 full I walked in and I was told if I wanted to eat outside or in? I said outside, I was told to have a seat, at this point there is no one in the waiting area except the greater, waitress and someone picking up an order to go. So here's the problem, your a restaurant and when you have your only guests waiting waiting while your staff chit chat for 10 min and you forgot about them , you have a big problem. I got up and left went across the street to jacks and was welcomed with open arms and a smile, ordered my lunch and was promptly served a great lunch . Second time here. Had the mix appetizer. Be careful the stuffed jalapeños has very hot melted cheese and burned my mouth. The ribeye to me was thin and small. I wondered if my order was wrong and they gave me a pan steak instead. Not much flavor to the meat. read more

I have to take ther yelpers to task here. Whiskey Creek was the worst restaurant I've been to in years. It's one of the places you see on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares; a big restaurant in nowhere-special that is serving paint-by-numbers bad bad food and charging 20 to 30 dollars for the entrees. Gordon would've had a swearing field-day with what I got here. Buffalo-style wings... FROZEN on the inside. OMG - get me to hospital. Burger tasted gross (how?!), 30 dollar steak was rare not well-done (how?!), house specialty ribs tasted worse than supermarket microwave ones (how?!). Our waitress was lovely and apologetic but not really very useful and the seats she put us in were awkward. The microbrewed beer was great though. So a star for that at least. Remember everyone..... if they hand you a timer that will flash and vibrate when they have a table ready for you then you are in line for a very shitty meal. The food choices were quality. We decided on salmon & steak. Plus appetizers & yummy salad. The back patio had just opened & the ambiance was perfect for an evening meal. Our pure delight was the waitress Sylvia. She had a table of 8 that became 10 that became 12! Plus a regular customer who was seated after them. Handled like a pro! Since my original review I have been back to Whiskey Creek a few more times. Each time was ok, but this time was the worst. The service is horrible. Our food was brought out cold. We ordered the ribeye, the plate was hot, the meat was cold, Mashed potatoes had absolutely no flavor. Looks like they came out of a tube that were dry instant potatoes. My children's chicken tenders were over fried and they could not even bite into them. I'm not exaggerating, my children only ate the fries. Our waitress did not clear plates, did not refill drinks, did not come by and asked how our food was, and chitchatted with her friends the majority of the time two booths over. I will not be back. WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE???? This use to be the best and most elegant place to eat in town, high priced, but at least it was worth it. Now, its degraded itself to be more like a dinner/coffee shop. The steaks have shrunk in size, they no longer offer you bread unless you ask and the horseradish sauce has a dry skin on top, nice to know the kitchen wouldn't even bother scooping up some sauce when you order. Makes me wonder what other things were done way in advance. Give me a break, the restaurant was not even busy by any standards. So I really wanted to like this spot based on its reviews. The reviews are what brought us in but there was a lot of problems with our experience. I'll start with the positives: the atmosphere was great. The kids cheeseburger and my mashed potatoes were seriously yummy. Ok. Now for the negatives: the bathrooms were in disrepair. It's like the restrooms were transplanted from a gas station. Most locks didn't work. Soap dispenser didn't work. The whole room is cold and bare compared to the warm upscale interior and exterior. And the toilets were dirty. Then food took forever to come out. We were a party of four. And when your server apologizes twice you know there's an issue. Speaking of... I never got the salad that came with my meal. (But I didn't realize until the bill that she truest forgot) Once food came, the porter dropped off our dishes but the server didn't return until most of the meal was done. Which is a problem because he kids would have liked ketchup with their fries. I ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf. It was TERRIBLE! The sides were dry and hard like the meatloaf had freezer burn before being cooked. The bacon was flavorless (how can you make bacon flavorless!!) and the meat blend wasn't good. Then my broccoli on the side was completely raw. Like not even warm. And yes they were supposed to be cooked. I won't ever recommend this place. I feel lied to. I had dinner at whiskey Creek for my birthday dinner, and the place is dazzling inside, and the food is great, it looks wonderful, and it is very tasty, and the salad was fresh and tasty too, the bacon wrapped shrimp was so good, and the tomato inside the shrimp was delicious, the prime rib was done exactly how I like it, the baked potato was so delicious! A group of us travel through Bishop about every 6 months for work. Whiskey Creek was always a favorite. It shut down, we were sad, it reopened we were happy! This last time however was the last time. We made a reservation for 10 at our desired eating time, received a confirmation email. Showed up to hear that our reservation was given to a different group of ten, because they just assumed that it was their group because what are the odds? Turns out pretty good. They did rush to put together an odd group of tables to be able to seat us. Ordering turned out to be just as disappointing, two out of the 6 that wanted baked potatoes could not get them others had to decided on something else. He took the first two who ordered theirs and made the others choose, (I still think they should have wrestled for them). reservation was for 7:15 in my eyes too early to be running out of options. The waiter seemed to be really trying on making up for the table mix up but kept forgetting water and mixing up diet with regular on refills. The whole thing just seemed "messy" . Two stars because the food that did come out was good (minus a weird texture on my chicken sandwich that I still can't figure out) and bacon on my sandwich could not have been cooked better. On our way home from Mammoth we wanted to stop somewhere nice for lunch. Cute place with a lot of charm. Nice menu and we picked it from the reviews. We ordered the full rack of ribs. Fries and slaw were good, ribs rather dry. Extra sauce still didn't do much and they had little taste. Service OK, better when the check was about to arrive. We had eaten at a number of places that weekend. This was just OK. Nothing to write home about. read more

The best part about this restaurant was our server who was on the bar side. She was friendly, attentive, and full of knowledge. This was the first time we stayed in bishop versus mammoth and it was a nice little find! My steak was good and I was told the ribs and bbq sauce were really good (this person is very picky about ribs). Will return! If you happen to be spending the night in Bishop as you transit up or down Rte. 395, this is the place to eat dinner. In the middle of the East Sierra desert, it has a mountain cabin atmoshphere. Strange menu. A mixture of Southern and Mexican. Heavy on starch. Avoid the pasta and seafood. Go for the steaks and "Whiskey Creek Traditions." After dinner, there is a zowie desert list, all made in the house. Go for one of the fruit pies. The wine list is surprisingly good, and not outrageously priced (even though in a town like this I would gladly pay an outrageous price for something good). Actually I would give them a 3 1/2 stars. The place was clean but that's about it. Service was mediocre and I'm not sure if that's because we are not locals or if everybody is treated that way. The food was definitely not at a quality level that I would go back and eat. Maybe just a drink at the bar. My wife had the salad which was a afterthought but she did like her side of Wasbi Mashed Potatoes and I had the Linguine Alfredo which was not very good and looked like it had been under the burner for awhile. Hands down, best meal I've ever had. I like to get something different each time because I know it's going to be good no matter what I choose. Stopped by Whiskey Creek on our way to Tahoe and we were pleasantly surprised! The portobello mushroom sandwich was one of the best I have ever had, but beware it's super messy so not for a first date. They also have a great wine list. The service was amazing. Our waitress had dark hair and was training with the manager. She's awesome. Keep her!! They also let us have our giant Alaska malamute on the patio which is always a nice plus. read more

Probably the best restaurant in the area, but the food is okay. The menu is not that extended and it's quite high on price. However, the food is pretty okay here. Once a kid we used to eat here on our way to the slops of Mammoth Mt.. This particular event was for lunch while on our way to Garnerville to see our Uncle Bill for the last time. He used to call me " STUDLY ". It was a eleven o'clock and the sign breakfast till 11:00 am, as we were seated I asked are you serving lunch because that is my intention sense I had a Sausage Mckmuffin at 5:00am. The server came back and said they were ready, I asked if they had a bar open at this time and she replied yes and I said Two Bloody Mary's please. They were OK but not like my Ceasers. The menu looked good and the first thing on it was a Meat loaf sandwich, the meat loaf was wrapped with bacon with Swiss cheese, long sliced pickle on chabota ? buns. We asked if they would split the meal & that was not a problem. It was very good and came with fries. We had to look around at all the things( mug,books,pictures ect. ) in the shop before we were on our way. read more

I stopped by here on the way to a nearby Sierra Nevada campsite. This establishment really did stand out among the other not so aesthetically pleasing restaurants on main street. You walk in and see that it's part gift shop / part restaurant (located to the right). The interior was very woodsy and lodge-y as well, which made for a extremely comfortable meal given that I was (literally) going to be fishing for food for the next 3 nights x___x. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with extra raw onions, which turned out to be mediocre given the price. Although, you do pay for the atmosphere and the friendly customer service. I would probably come back if I head towards Bishop again in the future, but I do hope that the quality of food improves! read more

When in Bishop and one wants a classy/more upscale restaurant than perhaps the restaurant at the bowling alley, or fast food, this is where to go. Good service, decent food, and good drinks. The nachos were using mostly canned ingredients it seemed. The wedge salad and crab cakes were pretty good - nothing special, but decent for the area we were in. I am sure I will be back on any trip through the area when I am on the 395. read more

Whiskey Creek is the best place to grab loads of pub grub food after a hard day climbing. I've been here twice now and the food definately doesn't disappoint for the price. It's far better than many of the Bishop alternatives and the sweet potato fries are heavenly. Grab a pitcher of Mammoth Lakes Brew to go with it and you're set. They also have tons of big screen t.v.'s for sports watching and testers of hand lotion to sooth your rock-thrashed skin. If you are a climber, that is. If you're not, then what the hell are you doing in Bishop anyways? read more

I was expecting so much more from this place. And I was starving so it shouldn't have been so hard to impress. I will say that my club sandwich was quite good, but the chicken inside reminded me of the reformed patties you find roaming the restaurant wilds. Seriously I was so hungry that it didn't really matter. Our waitress was strangely pleasant, but very cold. The steak meals were good, but a plate consisting of only a little chunk of beef and a pile of mashed taters for over $20? Veggies or a side salad were an extra $5. Waters weren't refilled well, even to the point that a water glass was removed from the table in the middle of dinner and not returned. We ate in the outdoor patio, and I'm really glad it probably doesn't rain much because the tent over our heads was full of holes. My three stars are pretty much for the desserts only. Do yourself a favor, eat dinner elsewhere and go here for pie and tiramisu. Wonderful stuff and huge servings. I really wanted to like this place but it felt like a Cracker Barrel that hoped desperately that you thought it was Ruth Chris. read more
